💞. I felt like Sabine was a bit annoying & whiny for me. I like that this book didn’t have one of those insta-love…. Ragnavald & Malcom had to work hard to get Sabine to submit

My mother had sighed. “Fey. Like your grandmother. She had a magic of the earth. It told her things; she knew they were true but could not explain why.” “You are bait, but not for a monster. One night and you have already brought my friend out of the darkness. You are the only one who can heal him, Sabine. And, unless you wish to unleash a beast that will lay waste to this island, you must.” "To defeat the jarls--the earls and chieftains--he hired a witch to make his best warriors more powerful. She cursed them, and Changed them all into Berserkers--warriors who fight with mindless rage, killing everything in their path” “If you need to fear, Sabine, fear the day the beast consumes us. It will be the end of days.”
#Returnthewitch, Part III
4.5 stars! So far this is my favorite book in the series. Imo this can be read as a standalone without having read the first two books. If you didn't like book 1, Sold To The Berserkers, I'd consider skipping to this one.
***Slight Spoilers***
The writing was fab, with smooth flow. I'm impressed with the amount of mythology the author has included in a smutty MfM shifter book. The heroine in this book is Brenna's sister, Sabine. She's at home caring for her two younger sisters when she's kidnapped by Maddox, a Berserker that we first met as a side character in the last book.
Like Brenna, Sabine is a hedgewitch, but does not yet know it. Hedgewitches contain "subtle, earthy" magic that are able to calm the Berserker warrior's inner beast. It's important for the Alpha Berserker warriors of the packs to mate with these hedgewitches. If the Alpha is driven mad by his inner beast, then the entire pack will go mad and on a killing rampage. If the Alpha mates with a hedgewitch, their madness will be abated, and the entire pack will experience equilibrium.
Poor Ragnvald has been slowly taken over by his inner beast for quite some time. Driven to desperation, Maddox kidnaps Sabine and brings her to the cave Ragnvald has been hiding in. He expresses to Sabine the importance of her ability to heal and soothe Ragnvald's inner beast. If she doesn't attempt to heal him, all those living nearby will be in danger from this pack going on a wild killing rampage due to madness.
Sabine was snarky, and the author hit the perfect balance of a saucy heroine without crossing over into bratty territory (a pet peeve of mine). I felt the author's writing and ability to plot/weave the mythology of the world came into its own here. I'm sure I won't enjoy all installments in this series the same amount, but this is a good one. I'm rating these books compared to all the others, and so far I've rated book one 3 stars, book two 4 stars, and I may come back later and bump the rating back up to 5 stars for this installment.
***The witch***
The ending is slightly abrupt, although it does provide a hea. It's not a well-padded HEA. To get the full-padded HEA with babies, you'll need to subscribe to the author's newsletter. I don't care about babies in this instance, so I'm probably going to skip it.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present you my first entry for the 2018 Madcap MacHalo Fantabulous Bookish Challenge Extravaganza aka MMFBCE™ - nicely filling in the slot for Alpha & Beta. The two male leads are the alpha and beta of a werewolf pack. Technically I could use it for the vikings theme but decided against. After all there are more books in the series, there's bound to be more viking male leads ;)
In this one we take a break from Brenna and her mates and switch packs to see how things are going for Maddox the Jerk (I decided he's one in the previous book and to be honest this one didn't really redeem him in my eyes) after the stunt he pulled when we last saw him. I was hoping he had met his demise at the teeth of Samuel but no such luck. However I liked Rangvald. And I loved Sabine and her stubbornness. I would have loved it even more had she been able to . Not that I really expected it to happen. After all this is PNR so the most common version of HEA is what you get. *sigh* Still it was a nice read so I won't complain too much ;)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Sabine has a similar story to her sister Brenna's. It's a different pack, different cave, different love interests, different method of acquisition, and she can talk and truly sass back yet it's very similar. Even with the similarities, it's a smokin' hot read with Maddox and Ragnvald laying claim to the "little witch," as she's affectionately called.
I like that we get to see Brenna and her men, even if only briefly. I also enjoyed the audio, in addition to the text, with Robert Ross forging ahead. His accent really does things for me. 😍⭐💥⚡🔥
So, I mentioned Brenna's story. You don't need to read it to enjoy this installment to the series but some aspects will make more sense if you do.
This was a short quick dark menage read that I liked. Sabine is a very strong willed woman. She take care of her sisters and everything else now that her sister and stepfather are missing and her mother is dead. She Love to be independent and live her own life. But little does she know she is a witch called a Spaewives. she is part of the Earth. She does know however that she is a good healer with herbs. The Berserkers came in the night and took her in the night to help the Alpha of his pack Ragnvald. This was a really good book however I didn't realize that this is a series and that this is book 3 in the series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am going to go back and read the first two books in this series before I continue to read the rest of the books in this series.
Everything Wrong with the Berserkers in Five Minutes or Less
RAPE. Sabine makes it clear before the madness of the Moon Estrous has her that she doesn’t want to have sex with them. Then, when she is mad with lust, they have sex with her. This is rape. She didn’t give her consent before she was disabled mentally for making decisions. She only gave her consent when she was completely incapacitated. Drunken consent isn’t consent. Moon Mad lust driven sex is rape. SLAVERY. Maddox and Ragnvald enslave Sabine from the start. Kidnapping her from her life and forcing her to heal them and their pack. When she disobeys then, she is punished by torture. Whippin, specifically. In a fit of justifiable rage, Sabine slaps away Maddox’s hand and he gets pissed that she struck him (this after he has already spanked her), so he string her up on a tree and whips her with two or three kinds of whips (it was unclear if it was two or three). And then rewards her pain by allowing her to have an orgasm. MANIPULATION. In order for Sabine to get what she wants (to see her sister), she is forced to obey Ragnvald and Maddox’s every whim. They chain her, leash her, force her into a submissive position regardless of her dominant personality. She must walk behind Ragnvald. She must submit to the leash. She mustn’t look into anyone’s eyes. She must obey their commands. Only then will they take her to see her sister. Then they convince her all this is “for her own protection”. STOCKHOLM SYNDROME. Maddox and Ragnvald convince her that submission to their whims is freedom. When they cause her pain because of her disobedience it is freeing her. Then, because of all the trauma she has faced, she ends up “loving” them. They even allow her to go back to her little hovel in the village, but when she learns that Maddox has “given up his place in the pack” to “guard” her, she goes back to the pack and Ragnvald and Maddox to “save his life”. As if he deserves to live after raping her, enslaving her, and manipulating her into “loving” him. THE IDEA OF LOVE. In this book, the idea of Love is totally corrupted. I could have forgiven a LOT of what happened in this book if after the men fell in love with Sabine she was treated like a treasure and protected and cared for. Instead, after they proclaim their undying loyalty and love, they still treat her like a slave. I can read bdsm play because the power is with the submissive, so stop everything with a word, but in this book, the submissive had no power to stop things. She was forced to submit. In fact, the men tell her that all they want is her submission even though she is not a submissive. She is dominant. She wants her own path and freedom to choose it. But, the love thing just killed me. Love is gentle and kind and the men were anything but to her. The illusion of freedom they gave her was worse than the actual slavery. Slavery is honest: you belong to means it doesn’t matter what you want. But giving her the illusion of freedom just feeds the manipulation and Stockholm syndrome and is so much worse because it’s a lie she believes.
Overall, the book was well edited and well written. There was not a lot of complain about as far as the technical aspect of novel writing. I read this book because I liked another book by co-written the author, but I see now that the author needs another writer to temper his ideas about romance. This was not a romance. It was a non-con erotica with some plot. I do not recommend reading this book unless you are ok with rape, torture, and psychological manipulation in the guise of “Love”.
this was my least favorite in the series. Sabine was a bit annoying and whiny for me. I really liked Malcom and felt like he really should have been the Alpha in the story. He seemed tougher and strong to me than Ragnavald.
DNF at 61% I'm refraining from whacking my head against the wall long enough to type this, but fucking hell! While it was unconventional, I wasn't too opposed to the storyline throughout the beginning of the book, H1 kidnaps her to help his borderline savage werewolf/berserker friend, and while it wasn't an ideal situation, it was certainly no worse than many dark romances I have read where love is found in unconventional circumstances. I won't hash it all out, I'm sure other reviews delve into all of it a little more thoroughly. It was okay, nothing special, outside the box enough to hold my interest... until things started going downhill. It started with some smaller things, the sudden extreme misogyny, the "heroes" go from respecting her wishes to some degree to 'we will parade you around on a leash in front of our pack, because they don't have enough control to allow us to treat you with respect.' They treat her like a dog (the irony is ridiculous) but tell her it's okay because it's for her own benefit, give her a few minutes with the sisters she hadn't seen since being kidnapped. Fun fact, the whole 'mating for life' philosophy that werewolves and such follow isn't one that treats it's women like dogs, they are meant to treat their women with respect, their alphas mate even more so, because funny thing, dogs aren't mysogynists . Once they leave the same sisters, who h finds out had been kept in a cage for part of their time as hostages, she reacts with anger, as any sane person would when they find out their younger siblings had been kept in a fucking cage, and the H's take that as the ultimate offence, because if a woman loves you she must agree with everything you do or say. They tie her to a tree and whip her. Not kinky BDSM kind of stuff, they legitimately whip her for disagreeing with them. At one point she even refers to it as a beating. I only read that far because I was hoping that it was a bluff, but they followed through, and considered themselves to be right in doing so. I'm sorry, maybe I'm living in an alternate reality but last time I checked, a real man can not watch the woman he loves be whipped, let alone do it. This was not some kinky kind of play, she was not enjoying it, and they are doing it to 'teach her a lesson.' That is assault. Domestic violence. Abuse. A real man does not beat a woman, for any fucking reason. They point out how weak she is against them and then use it to inflict lasting pain and possible damage. The author mentioned an abusive stepfather who beat her mother, so obviously had some idea of right and wrong, yet still considered anything about this scene to be okay? It renders anything else that happens to be pointless, because that scene tells me all I need to know about this so called 'romance'.
Very good and so delicious different from the first trio. Of course we’ll written and developed with beautiful characters and a fast paced storyline that was captivating and entertaining.
This was third book in the Berserker series can be read as a stand alone novel. There is enough background information that you could easily pick up the series from this entry. Having read the previous books in this series, I have to say in some ways I liked this one more because of Sabine's spunky attitude. She was willing to help the two Berserkers regain their humanity but not at the expense of her future. Or at least that was her plan. Too bad those pesky feelings came into play! Looking forward to what is in store for Sabine's sisters now that they too are being offered to others in the pack.
Sabine💃 is one of four sisters with the gift of witchcraft, of knowing, of healing, living in a hut on outskirts of an ancient village. They have kept their true abilities hidden from the rest of the villagers, lest they be burned 🔥as witches. Sabine💃 doesn't really think she has the gift, but she spends a lot of time gathering herbs and medicinal plants in The forest. She sells the plants she gathers at the market, along with her treatment advice. Lately huge wolves🐺 have been following her home. She has seen a giant black one🐺 , and can hear others moving through the brush. Her sister, Brenna💃, from The first Beserker book, is missing, and their step father was later found dead, severely mauled as if by a wild beast🐺. In this world, women💃 come into a 🌙moon heat, where they need a man, but Sabine💃💋 dreams of a huge , strong man🐺, of TWO huge strong men! She goes alone to a pond to swim and bathe when the heat comes upon her. At the pond she is approached by The black wolf🐺. She's so scared she starts running home, but she is captured by a huge human male, Maddox, a Beserker🐺🔪. She wakes in his cave, a prisoner. What's going to happen to her, will she ever see her sisters again?
ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review. I also bought the book📑 with KU.
Loved this book📑, these related Beserker novels get better with each one! Each novel tracks one of the sisters and what happens between her and the Beserker men.
When I was reading this book, the whole time I was thinking: 'This woman is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.. I felt that kidnapping this woman and her sisters was entirely unnecessary. She herself admitted that she was bound by a healers oath to help everyone in need. The Berserkers could have simply sat down and came to some sort of agreement about her services. But no, instead they thought that the best course of action was to strangle her unconscious and leave her chained up in their cave. Instead of treating her like an actual human being, they wore her down under threat of the security of her sisters. And when she understandably shows outrage at the fact that her sisters were locked up in a cage when they first arrived, do they sit her down and talk about their decisions? No. Instead, they string her up and proceed to whip her. I stopped at that point, because I was having strong flashbacks to slavery. I get that the whole genre of big strong men capturing women for their own is hot in the erotica world. But this story left a sour taste in my mouth. DNF @ 59%

The third book in this series is a really great read it tells the story of Maddax, Sabine, Ragnvald's. Sabine is Breanna's sister and very different from her she is a healer with a sharp tongue. Sabine is strong willed will not let anyone tell her what to do. She is kidnapped by Maddax in effort to heal Ragnvald and the pack. She has a battle with her heart and her witch nature when it comes to helping Maddax. Her need for freedom to choose her path is strong she leave her younger sister to deal with the pack to get what she want the most. Maddax and Ragnvald work hard to make reason with her to get her back but she wants it on her terms. Will they reason with Sabine and what kind of punishment will they give her if she comes back?
In this book we meet Sabine, who is Brenna's sister. The story is very similar to Brenna's, another pack, another set of possessive men.
This book is about Sabine, Ragnvald and Maddox. Maddox kidnaps Sabine and her sisters. He forces her to heal Ragnvald and she does so, only with the thought of her sisters' safety. Sabine finds out that her sister Brenna is safe and alive, so after some arrangements with the other pack she'll be able to visit Brenna.
I can't wait to see how the story of the other sisters unfolds.
Ooh I REALLY like Sabine, she was so strong, fierce and independent. She was a total bad a** and I loved how she wouldn't cave to her two big Alpha Berserkers.
So many stories have weak or docile female leads so any time I find one with a woman who holds her own I love the story a little extra
I'm really enjoying this series and I can't wait to see how the other sisters' stories unfold.
I loved everything about this! I love paranormal stories, and I Loved that this was more of a primal story and took us back to a different era. Things were so different and it made it so unique! There were so many parts that I really loved, but I loved how raw their feelings were. Brenna tried to keep what she was feeling hidden, but she just couldn't.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Strong characters and a great story line. I just couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I just love this series and can't wait to read more. Sabine, Maddox and Ragnvald's story. Sabine is totally opposite then her sister Brenna.
As if it wasn't bad enough, Brenna was sold against her will, her younger sister Sabine meets the same fate when berserker Maddox abducts her.
Unlike her sister Brenna, Sabine has a voice and uses hers to express her displeasure. Sabine is quick to let Maddox and Ragnvald know she does not appreciate being 1) abducted 2) forced to live in a cave, and 3) told how to feel (a woman after my heart!). There is no insta-love with Sabine. Maddox and Ragnvald are going to have to earn it.
The witch Yseult told the Highland and Lowland Berserkers of a race of women with healing powers, Spaewives, or Hedge witches with the gift of healing the berserker beast. So basically, Brenna and all her sisters are doomed to be berserker mates. As alpha of the Lowland Pack, Ragnvald was lost to the beast and severed his connection with Maddox to protect the pack. The chain of events led to Maddox sneaking into the Highland Pack and attempting to steal Brenna from Daegan and Samuel before learning of her sisters.
Sabine always believed in her heart Brenna was alive, Ragnvald confirms it. At the same time, Sabine learns her twin sisters Muriel and Fleur have been taken from their home by the Lowland Pack as well, which infuriates Sabine. Sabine swallows some of her pride plays nice so that she can see her sisters. By doing so, Sabine agrees to wear Maddox and Ragnvaold's torc, be tethered to Ragnvald and walk one step behind him at all times while in the presence of the pack (you'd think as alpha just walking next to them would be enough...sheesh!).
When Sabine is finally able to see Brenna, she is disappointed to learn that Brenna is happy with child and in love with her alphas. Sabine doesn't want to love her alphas nor bear their child. Adding insult to injury, when Sabine visits with Muriel and Fleur, she finds they are content with their lives under the protection of the pack.
Sabine requests the one thing Maddox and Ragnvald don't want to do: allow her to leave and return to her village. Very reluctantly, the berserkers agree, and Sabine leaves the cave and the opportunity to see her sisters again behind. All is not lost when Sabine agrees to return but only on her terms.
Taken by the Berserkers is the story of Sabine. Sabine is the second oldest sister to Brenna and she is now with the rival pack of wolf/Berserkers. She is very aware of her witch abilities and has always used it to her advantage when the full moon takes her over with lust. Never wanting to fall in love she would indulge in her sexuality and sensuality with the local boys. Maddox is the shared Alpha with Ragnvald. Ragnvald has been consumed by his beast and is slowly leaving his human side. Maddox, and the pack cannot live without their Alpha. Is Sabine the cure for these two Alphas? Will she be able to fall in love and give herself to them? You will have to read for yourself. I love Lee Savino's work. She writes with passion.
This is a simple, straightforward story. Its god a good pace and isn't too prone to insta-love. The prophecy and the "watching you for years" isn't too well defined or explained. The last quarter of the story is weakly written and changes from sexual submission to a power exchange, so its no wonder that that she's thrown aback by what the relationship turned into and using the only leverage she has. The resolution takes three pages and tenuously resolves the conflict, but it is really a case of choosing whether to sacrifice safety or principles. At least it was quick.
I do really enjoy the Berserkers! This was another great story! In this story we get to meet Brenna's sister, Sabine. Sabine is taken from her sisters by Maddox, who takes her with him to heal the madness that is taking over Ragnvald, the Alpha. She has a very strong independent streak, and fights against the very thought of falling in love, believing that giving into love makes a woman weak. It's a good story that I really enjoyed. I think I still liked Brennas story more, but it may just be that Brenna got several books to explore their relationship in. It's still a very sexy story, definitely worth buying!!
The ingredients and ideas for this story were absolutely very promising, but the way the story was told, the execution (writing style, use of words, terminology), was (for me!) lame and the result was kinda boring and, to put it mildly, bland. The sex scenes were... weird and definitely not sexy and the 'punishings' were ridiculous. I kept reading because I hoped things would get better (and because it was a short book!), but for me 'it' never happened. Bummer! {De uitgangspunten en ideeen voor dit verhaal waren veelbelovend, maar de uitwerking was op z'n zachts gezegd flauw en smakeloos. Jammer...}
This was a good story, but I didn't like it as well as the first two in the series. Besides being paranormal, there is a strong BDSM element to the series, and some features of that part of the story I have an issue with. Using "pack rules" seemed an excuse for them to literally whip and humiliate her. The situations seemed contrived just so that those elements could be emphasized.
I didn't really like this book in the series. This series.. leaves me confused. It's good.. and hard to read. I love the creative take on Beserkers, but some of the men's "rules" are absurd and leave me feeling meh. I'm a person who loves to read about dominant men and rules and punishments. This book loses me because they just come across as bullies who want their woman to fail. That said, I'm going to finish the series because overall I do like the characters and story lines.
Two incredibly hot and dominant men with a fiery and likable heroine combine with an interesting and fairly fast-paced storyline. A tale of danger and love, with some angst and heartbreak in there, but definitely ends with a happy ever after. So excited to see where the rest of the series goes and to follow Sabine, Maddox and Ragnvald in further adventures.
