The Abyss is full of terrors, but the mines aren't much better. Gareth is with me every step of the way, protecting me and giving me more pleasure than I believed possible...

I thought once we reached the mines our journey would be at an end. With or without Clotty, we would travel to the winter realm and start our life together just as I'd sworn to Gareth all those months ago. But how can I stop when freedom for all is so near?

Risking a rift between us, I plot a new course - one that has its own dangers. But I promise, at the end of this adventure, I'll be with my mate just as I vowed... Unless fate has other plans...

Lily's Note: Book 8 is the final chapter of Beth and Gareth's love story. There will be more books in the Fae's Captive series and another series set in the world of Arin coming very soon. Thank you for coming with me on this journey, and I hope you all find your fated mates ASAP. Much love, Lily

HOLY CLIFFHANGER CENET.

Freedom was meh until the end. Yes, Beth and Gareth are all chummy or whatever but they are boring in my eyes now. Things did get more interesting with Cenet back in the picture. I was hoping/praying that he was going to die and all but then the ending just intrigued the crap out of me. No idea what the heck the next book will bring me but I am so excited!

That is.. if there will be another book. Don't leave me with - going to my see my sister next (bitch) and mic drop me off the face of the planet. No, I need more. Go see your sister. I need war.. revenge.. and more smut. UGH, this book guys.

My heart

What an ending tho! I wasn’t prepared for how all this would make me feel. The topics of slavery and rebellion are ones that speak to me, k feel deeply about them. So seeing this quest for freedom was everything. The simple truth is that while I wish that the books were longer I’m always invested in this world and these stories and my Beth deserved the world and so I’m so thrilled that we got to see her in this way.

Beth continua a trascinare Gareth in avventure pericolose.

“No.”

Finished this just because I felt like I had too. I read the seventh book and was done but with one more book to go I finished it! I enjoyed the first few books but I think with my aggravation with Beth it just ruined the books for me! So I feel like I struggled more because I did not like Beth! All in all, I might try this author another time but for right now I need a break!

DNF at 60%.

Freedom is the eighth book in this series and the conclusion to Beth and Gareth’s story. While I enjoyed the first four books that centered around Leander’s and Taylor’s story, I struggled with the last three installments which focused on Gareth and Beth. Sadly I could not even finish this one.

I liked Gareth’s character. He was a proud and loyal second in command to Leander, and he wanted nothing more than to find his mate and make her happy.

Unfortunately, I didn’t care for Beth. She got progressively worse in each book. A lot of her inner thoughts were silly and juvenile. She was constantly trying to think of ways to get her way, knowing the entire time that she was being dishonest and deceitful to Gareth. She was a brat who pouted and stomped her foot whenever she didn’t get her way. It didn’t matter that placing herself in danger would distract Gareth, especially since she was human. Beth only thought of herself.

The scene with the unicorns and wyverns was just gross.

I liked the beginning of this series, but I’m not sure that I’ll read anymore.

7 am...... 7am and all is not well! 😂 I need more and I need it now! I have enjoyed this whole series thus far. This one made me laugh quite a bit. I love the authors banter between characters. This whole world that has been built up, I find myself excited to read about the other characters stories and see where all this builds up for the final battle. It’s nice to find a series I’m interested in. Badass battling fae, inner ferals, Iwoo cuddle monsters, foul mouthed unicorns, resurrected warriors, unlikely but loyal friends and oh so steamy steamy scenes throughout the entire book, whats not to love?

Other things to notice: Book 1-4 is about Taylor and Leander. Book 5-8 is about Garett and Beth.

Note: Apparently there will be more books in the Fae Captive series. (Hint from author: about Phin (the current piggy) and a dark warrior - another phinox member?)
AND there will Also come books in Arin!! (same fae world.)

This book was a roller coaster. From the abyss and the mines - hell like place, to the slave city and a war. Not to mention the glowing lands - Afterlife place.

In this book the whole Phalanx appear (Leander’s inner circle.) as well as Leander and Taylor at the end of the book! And ofc Selene the dark witch had some twisted role in this book too!

Freedom Book 8:
Stars: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️
Okay this last book is hard to describe. First I was extremely annoyed with Beth more and more throughout the book. I feel like at first it was a cat and mouse game her getting her way. But now it feels controlling. Beth has already made a promise with Gareth but she keeps going back on her word. Gareth never wanted to free the slaves after Clotty but Beth binds him to it without his consent. Also I understand Gareth leaving her behind while he fights. She’s a distraction. She was murdered in the last book.
Quote from book from Beth. “Not when I’m trapped in the wagon, put here like a child.”
Your literally acting like a child Beth.
Then Beth won’t quit bragging about killing the vampire dog. Chasten is losing his mind with worry. But they just let Cenet get away again.
Secondly I have never read about unicorns fucking dragons until this book. Definitely not something I’m into. It was a little crazy.
Third their mushiness almost got eye rolling barf inducing. However it’s still a book that has epic story building, it’s not boring and the world is fantastic even with its weird parts. Also Sabine is still one of my favorite characters, such an interesting person and enjoyable to read.

Okay lets do an overall review od books 5-8 since it should logically be one novel. Tbh the world is interesting on its own but the plot of these secons books felt so left field with so many new characters the it felt sort of forced. It was also the same story as the first one. Beth holds out on the mating. Gareth is a slightly problematic alpha always doting on Beth. They seal their bond in the third book. And the final battle is over in a one summed up page. It goes so quickly I thought I missed it. All this build up for a huge battle and then...nothing happens. Oh and Cenet comes back...again. I just dont care anymore that he's around. Are we going to circle around him again and again???

Slightly annoyed too that in both series we never get the "big" answers. There's still so much unknown about the prophecy and what Taylor is despite her not being in this series at all and the threat of the upcoming war. Overall, this second series began to bore me a bit. There just wasnt enough in these new characters to keep me interested in continuing further. I bought these books so I made sure to finish them and now they are done and I will move on.

“He is my heart. And maybe it doesn’t matter what I am, as long as I have him.”

This is last book in Gareth and Beth’s journey and it did not disappoint. Oh my Gosh this one was SOO GOOD. From beginning to end it was action packed and sexy. I could not get enough of these two. They have their fair share of struggles and fights but their love and connection outweighs it all. This book made me gasp and laugh and tear up so much. I swear my heart stopped at one point. It was incredible. This series is so unique and imaginative. I love it!!!! I can not wait for the rest of the series. There are so many Fae’s I am dying to know more about. This book was so GOOD! Gareth and Beth are wonderful and I am so happy I read their journey. It was an EPIC roller-coaster! I Highly recommend this book and this entire series.

I really wanted to love this series.......

I just didn't. I forced myself to read these and I really need to learn how to DNF books. I hate leaving bad reviews for books and I think I've left a bad review for most of the installments. :( My now ex friends failed to tell me this was a serial series, had different main characters as the books progresses, and told me this series was finished. This series is not finished and from everything left open there's probably still a lot to come....I will not be continuing. This series does have a lot of promise and I think with all the glowing reviews most people will end up liking it overall, I just can't deal with yet more new character leads in the next few installments while the original hasn't been touched on since book 4, not the best writing, and the money grub of this being a serial.

This is the end for me.

3.5 stars.

Overall this is a decent conclusion to the series, but I am feeling a bit burnt out of it by this point.

Things I really liked:
- The unicorns
- The fated mates and how adoring the males are
- Many of the side characters (Selene!)
- The spice

Things I didn’t like:
- The novella-length of each book
- The cliffhangers (often right in the middle of a scene)
- Character death
- The ‘rinse/repeat’ of Beth getting into danger, getting saved, Gareth wanting to mate, Beth saying no

Even though this book is the last in this series, the 2nd epilogue ends on yet another cliffhanger. You can read up to the end of the 1st epilogue and stop there if you don’t want to get sucked in.

Overall I enjoyed this book and the ones before it. But now I need a break from this world and the author’s writing style.

I really enjoyed this series. The banter was a lot of fun - I enjoyed it more than Taylor and Leander but grumpyXsunshine is my favourite!
I will say that I would have preferred the series as two separate (but longer) books. One for Taylor and Leander and another for Gareth and Beth but that didn’t really take away from the story so much.
There were a few annoyances around key moments taking place ‘off-page’ (the showdown with the vampire hound alpha, large chunks of battles) which could leave you confused as to what is going on for a while. Also never finding out WHY the vampire hounds loved her blood so much? That is frustrating. Looking forward to reading more in the universe in the future.

this series was so much fun!! i had been craving a quick fantasy romance and this was definitely what i was looking for. i think overall i would give this series a 3.75 / 4 stars just because it was such an enjoyable time reading all the books and i sped through them!
i preferred Beth & Gareth’s books but i still loved Taylors and Leander’s and i think it’s important to read those before hand so you can get more of a backstory for the world and characters ♡
i’m exhausted from all the fantasy & paranormal romance i’ve been reading recently so i’m excited to take a lil break and i’m glad i ended it on such a fun and enjoyable high !!

My least favorite character in this series is Beth, She uses manipulation and sex to get what she wants. It's supposed to be endearing, but it just puts me off to use others as she does. She wants and expects to be saved from her actions. She is all talk and no action herself. Also, I don't like the over the top what the guys feel, but the woman must have what they want with no consequences to them? The rating is due to my absolute dislike for Beth. All she is good at is getting others hurt or killed and spreading her legs.

So I think this was a good conclusion to this series. We finally got the Phalanx and piggy Phin was fun (although we never find out he if becomes a man again...) There are some really sad bits.

I had kind of hoped Gareth would master his magic more than just weild it wildly again. And it was a repetitive ending in death and resurrection. But I did enjoy it and will be intrigued if the series continues. Don't know who the next lot will focus on though. It seems likely it will be back to Taylor and Leander.

Wanted to love it...but just couldn’t.

Started this series and was really flying through the stories, enjoying it until Gareth and Beth’s story arc. In previous books they were some of my favorite characters but after their story I find them more annoying if anything. Literally skimmed the book just to figure out the ending....which had me rolling my eyes again. This is probably the last of this series I can suffer through, wish it wasn’t so.

I’m doing a review for this whole series here, books 1-8, which tell the stories of Taylah and Lysander and Beth and Gareth.

I didn’t mind the series overall. The dialogue was a little too forced and there was much Insta-love but there was some good stuff in the plot and the world building was interesting. Probably these books (4xshort stories for each couple) could have been done in two longer books. But overall a solid series.

A good conclusion to the second instalment of the series! There were some good twists and turns, and moments that pulled some tears. The wrap up was pretty quick getting us to our HEA. The over arching story could’ve ended there, but the second epilogue teased more to the story. There are a few characters that I would like to see get their own HEA, but I don’t know how interested I am in another loop of the same evil foe.

Awesome Series

I stumbled upon Lily Archer’s Fae’s Captive Series just looking for a good read and although each book is shorter than I’m used to it packed quite a hungry punch leaving me binging through all of them available. It’s an addictive series and I can’t wait for more. Good job Lily keep em coming.

And here I thought the last book would leave me with a contented feeling of closure! Of course, I was thrilled by the book and the entire series and all the stories of this world so far. But, I cannot wait to dig even further into this world and I'm super stoked over what stories the author has promised.

The end for now. This has been a pretty great Romantasy novella series so far. Lots of fighting, magic, social issues that translate into RL, and don't forget the hot dark fae. Did I say hot dark fae? I am excited to see who will be next to fall to a mate among the Phalanx. Excellent series for what it was.
