Cade and Lecia's passionate love story continues in Playing with Fire, the second installment in the Moore family saga that begins seven years after the events in the first book, Seed on Fire. Lecia and her young son, Miles, are accompanying Cade on his European tour with his band Fortune, but she tires of life on the road and being away from her loving extended family members. She decides to return with Miles to North Carolina despite the risk of danger from a possible encounter with Mario Rodriguez, the man who kidnapped Miles as an infant and who has continued to evade capture. Lecia discovers upon her return to the States that Miles, who has become driven by his blind passion to seek revenge against Mario, has a genetic condition that allows him to produce fire and must be protected from further dangers by a shadowy organization of operatives known as the Network. Lecia once loved Mario as a brother and is caught in the middle of a dilemma that could cost not only Mario, but Cade and Miles, their lives. Cade and Lecia also realize that they must keep Miles safe and maintain the secret of his genetic condition from forces that have conspired to use his condition for evil while they also seek justice for their son's kidnapping at birth.

Playing With Fire is Book Two in the Moore Family Saga Series of books. This book seamlessly picks up where book one left off. Cade’s success as a musician is taking off when he's been offered a chance to go on tour in Paris, France. Alicia and his young son Miles come along with them until Alicia becomes tired of the touring and wants to return with their young son back to the United States. Alicia knew that when she married Cade that things would sometimes become difficult because of him being a musician. But what she never anticipated was how alone that she would feel even though she is married. She knows that Cade loves her with all his heart, but she misses her family back home and wants her young son to get to know her side of the family. Cade is upset and misses his wife and young son terribly. However, he is also enjoying his fame and his rise to stardom, which causes Cade to become conflicted between his family and his growing success as a musician.

Shortly after Alicia returns home with her young son Miles, he falls very ill. She must call Cade and get him to come home as she breaks the news to him that their young son is gravely ill. To make matters worse Alicia must deal with a woman who was once her friend but has now become her enemy. Will Cade and Alicia be able to get to the bottom of what strange ailment is afflicting their young son? Will they be able to remain strong as a couple while also enduring the ups and downs and hardships of parenting?

This is a great series and I highly recommend that you start with book one, Seed on Fire, and work your way through the series because each book introduces you to more of the storyline. Each book progresses where the last one left off and answers some questions from the previous book. In Book Two we are introduced to more of the family and their roles that play a vital part in the Moore Family Saga. We learn a lot about both Kaiden and Alicia and their respective upbringings when we are introduced to their families. Things become intense with Kaiden, and Alicia's relationship and it threatens to disintegrate when they are hit with some bumps in the road. They are forced to decide if they should weather the storm together or call it quits.

Let’s start by saying that I did not read the first part of this story. The books started in the middle of a argument between the the two main characters. It felt like I should already be into the book. It was unsettling and off putting to begin with. So I definitely don’t recommend reading this if you haven’t read the first part. Since this was a second half of a story the author didn’t give you much background on the characters or the partially developed story line. Though since this is supposed to take place seven years later you would think that a little back story might be nice, since I’m assuming that there would be some character development and changes during that time. The story seemed convoluted at best. There are a number of antagonists, which come in and out of the story. Also superhuman powers, while not comment place, are taken in stride. This book also has a mix of genres while not really having enough of anyone of them, you have a little romance, some sci-fi, and a touch of suspense. I was never able to get fully into the story or characters. This could be made into a great series with a little rework and a deeper storyline. Instead it seems like a run on sentence (story). Though I did really like the family dynamics and several of the plot lines. Also their love story as a married couple was super sweet with just a touch of heat.

I was given a copy of this book from eBooks to read and review. This is my honest opinion.

Continue following Cade and Lecia while they go through the relatable struggles of career vs family and their journey of overcoming difficult times. We are introduced to new characters adding to the storyline and more background into their families and pasts.

Even though there has been a some passing of time it smoothly picks up where the previous book ends. I recommend reading the first book to have a full experience of the characters growth.

The Author gives us another fast paced read and introduces a new twist to the captivating storyline. I couldn’t read this book fast enough! Page turning suspense with romance, hardships, tough lessons and forgiveness.

I am again looking forward to the next books in this saga!

Playing with Fire is the second book in the Moore Family Saga series. I thought the couple of Cade and Lecia had gone through a lot in the first book but there is more for them to encounter. Life on the road is not easy especially when one is a musician and the other the spouse caring for their child. Lecia moves back to the states and gets devastating news about their child. Will Cade be the man she needs?
Wow, I enjoyed the first book but this one improved on the first part of the story. I enjoyed the twists that were presented and still enjoyed the main characters. The story is interesting and I'm curious where it will take me next.

In this exciting second edition in the "Moore Family Saga," Michele Sims keeps finding fans with her ability to pull readers into the world she creates and the characters she develops. It is easy to lose time in the pages of "Playing with Fire" as Sims keeps things steaming being Lecia and Cade. The plot changes directions which will keep the reader turning the pages as time passes. Great edition to this series!
