The third standalone book in the Men of Rapture series
Everything about her infuriates me.
Her walk, her talk, her smell.
Elle Landry is everywhere. Drinking in my bar, working within walking distance, and always hanging with Skunk, my bouncer. It’s like they’re BFFs or something. She spends many nights at Rapture, and she always has a sneer ready for me.
She makes me ragey.
Sulky.
And hard.
So it’s no wonder that she’s just as a part as Rush and Alyssa’s wedding as me. At least it’s in wine country and I can get drunk and block her out.
This is book three in the Men of Rapture series. The first two were brilliant so Niko had alot to live up too!
I can honestly say it didn't disappoint. Niko and Elle have so much chemistry it's off the chart and when they clash, it is so incredibly hot and steamy.
I love all the characters in this series and highly reccomend them all. I look forward to whatever comes next for The men of Rapture.
Voluntarily read and reviewed this book , all thoughts and opinions are my own.
NIKO is the third book in Faye Bird’s Men of Rapture series, and I don’t believe these stories can be read as standalones, as Ace, Rush and Niko are all constants in each and every book.
So, on to Niko. If you have read the previous two books, you will know that there has always been an uneasy tension and combative aspect to the interactions between Niko Rines and Elle Landry. Niko is an easy-going guy who runs the bar, Rapture and Elle is a veterinary assistant with a chip on her shoulder, who frequents the bar across from her place of work.
This story for me, seemed to be written in two parts; the first being the never-ending barrage of verbal tirades between Niko and Elle, that eventually leads angry sex (3/4 of the book), and the second was the sudden decision to put everything behind them and give their obvious chemistry a chance to grow beyond the physical. What bothered me most? There was no discussion about why either party acted so childishly for over 12 months, and the lack of explanation as to Elle’s unreasonable reactions to Niko from day one. There was a hint in Rush’s book about an underlying reason for her bitchy behaviour, but this was not explored.
Niko is a story that’s crass, gritty and raw, so for those who like their stories a little bit edgy, this series definitely has that in spades. Unfortunately, I felt that the full potential wasn’t met, as the unanswered reasons for their conflict and Elle’s core issues were never explained. I know there is at least one more book to come in the series and hope that the next is more informative.
Niko and Elle are like oil and water, they just don't mix. They both are going to be in their friend's wedding so they have to get along to please their friends. Elle is always at the bar talking to the bouncer and Niko gets a smirk from her. The attraction between them is there but can they put aside their differences to give in to it? Another excellent read in this series.
I’ve needed to know about Elle and Niko since Rush. You could feel even then that there was something possible between them. The steam didn’t disappoint, but I felt like the story was too shallow? Like the surface of their issues was barely rippled. Let’s focus on Niko and his goldfish for a hot minute! It was mentioned, twice in passing, and he was torn up over it, but nobody ever brings it up again. I know they aren’t long books, but I’d have preferred more pages and a deeper story. I’ll be waiting for the final instalment!!
NIKO is the third book in Men of Rapture series. I do believe it's best to read the other books first to get background on the other characters, the connections...
Like the previous books this was well written and interesting, even captivating from the start. It's not a thriller or cop story but the author has such a way to get you in the story, you just want to keep turning the pages to see how the story goes.
The chemistry between the characters, the storyline development, everything is well done. It is never boring! The story flows at a good pace.
It is sexual and sensual and you can feel the characters' emotions.
Like always the cover is amazing!
The one thing that was no surprise, well how the book starts mainly, was the usual two people who can't stand each other magically have hot sex and have feelings for each other but won't admit it. Like every movie on tv you know it's going to happen...
It was really good, 4.5 stars, I loved it! And I can't wait to read more by this author.
ARC kindly received from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Niko by Faye Byrd has it all - heartache, tension, twists and turns, and the off-the-charts hot, sometimes explosive, sometimes tender, sensual moments. I loved that other characters from the first two books were involved in this book. This story somehow manages to be light-hearted & fun while also being spine-tingling intense.
