I recently read two Dave Wickenden's books back to back. The second was an arc. All I can say is Wow! Deadly Harvest grabs you by the throat from the beginning. Laura is a kick-ass heroine, (I'm not even the type of person to say kick-ass) but it is the only way to describe her. I guess I should add she is also well developed and even likable. The story deals with human trafficking in Die Hard style. This is a perfect read for fans of nonstop action. It is a great thriller.

A Super-Charged Thriller Diller

“Deadly Harvest” by Dave Wickenden starts out with a bang. Former RCMP psychologist, Laura Amour, after being unmasked as a vigilante preying on child molesters and banned as a terrorist from her home country of Canada, reemerges as a deadly assassin who’s set her sights on an EU child sex trafficking ring in Paris, France. After dispatching several security men watching over a Parisian brothel where children are sold to depraved customers, she discovers and helps a group of Syrian refugee children escape their captors. They make good their escape but Laura’s attempt to disguise herself fails when she’s recognized by a female French Police Captain, who becomes an unexpected ally after she discovers that not everyone in the police force can be trusted.

While Laura’s quite happy to dish out retribution to the people who defend a truly disgusting business, she knows the only way to end this heinous trade is to find and kill whoever is behind it.

Clues in the shape of mysterious men the police captain suspects are agents for a high-ranking French government minister begin to crop up. Curiously, the agents have the same tattoo between their thumb and forefinger. Laura is determined to discover what the tattoos mean. In the process of her investigation, she discovers an even more horrifying fate awaits the children than becoming a mere sex slave.

Formidable servants of the criminal mastermind are looking for her while she searches for the man behind this evil.

One explosive action scene after another ensues while Laura has more than one opportunity to display a Jack Reacher-like determination and will to survive. Even though it seems like the bad guys make a successful getaway, we’re treated to a delicious coda where the villains receive their appropriate reward.

If you like heart-pounding, page-turning thrillers; this is one book that truly delivers the goods.

A suspenseful followup to, In Defense of Innocence, Laura Amour travels to France to continue her crusade against child exploitation. Laura finds herself in a situation that is worse than she could ever have imagined. She makes a few allies and suffers some painful losses along the way in this riveting, edge of your seat thrill ride.
This Canadian author is a new personal favorite and I will share these paperbacks with friends who appreciate a great novel.
"She was only a kid, but the steel she had sensed in the girl was not just for those that hurt her. It was also to assert herself as an individual. She had no choice but to wait and see what Gabrielle had planned, especially being pinned down by a guy with a high-powered rifle."
"She raised her pistol just as some inner sense spoke to the man."

I was sent a review copy of David Wickenden's thriller. I was not looking forward to reading Deadly Harvest as I am not a fan of the genre. However, I actually found it totally gripping and read it one sitting while on a plane journey. I don't want to give the story away as I notice others have. It was well written and the author really knows how to tell a story. Would recommend to thriller fans.

WOW!!!! This was a fast-paced high octane thriller that really kept me on the edge of my seat. The writing is simply flawless. Laura (badass) is bringing down some serious evil (insert many expletives) and I was literally pacing my room as we went from one dangerous situation to the next. Car chases, guns blazing. This story so needs to be a movie already!!! Since this is the second book in the series, I have to go back and read the first. I really love Laura. And Gabrielle is one strong young lady! The subject matter is a bit disturbing in an emotional way, but it won't stop your enjoyment of the story.
I have to constantly stop myself, when leaving a review, from giving away the plot. Trust me, YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!❤❤❤❤

Wickenden Keeps You Turning Pages

Dave Wickenden’s Laura Amour joins the fictional canon of supremely skilled vigilantes, compelled to take the law into their own hands when legal systems fail innocent victims. Her obsession is to bring down abusers of children, making her a heroine you just have to cheer on, and in Deadly Harvest she finds herself in Paris up against a vast and sinister organization that traffics in children for a horrible purpose.
The action in Deadly Harvest starts on the first page and the tension never lets up, through gun battles, car chases, betrayals and triumphs. Amour’s skills as a deadly hunter penetrating to the heart of enemy territory ring with authenticity, and Wickenden’s descriptions place you right in the thick of things.
If you love taut thrillers, frontier justice modern-style, and stories of how one person can make a difference, you won’t go wrong with Deadly Harvest.

I have eagerly awaited this book and I am so grateful that Dave Wickenden allowed me an advanced copy of Deadly Harvest, for which I am voluntarily leaving my review. Laura Amour is a bad-ass, take-no-nonsense type who was previously in Defense of Innocence.

Now in Paris, France Laura is at it again and this time she teams up with some unexpected allies as she tries to save a number of children from being exploited in a nefarious scheme. There were some very real-world issues discussed in this book that makes it almost unbelievable that these types of things actually DO happen. So that being said, I think this was well-written and the minor characters were well done to make me care about them as they fought against the evil entity running the whole thing.

Lots of intrigues and backstabbing happened in this and loyalties were tested. There were a few tense moments for Laura that had my breath caught in my throat, as Dave writes in a way that you can exactly visualize the scene you are reading.

All in all, I found this book to be a fast-paced, action-packed read as I rooted for Laura to get the bad guys. I can only hope that I will hear more about Laura’s adventures as she makes the world safer for children one day at a time.

Having become familiar with Laura Amour in book #1, In Defense of Innocence, I was prepared for good story and surprises. Wrong ... I was not prepared for Deadly Harvest. David Wickenden's second book in the Laura Amour series is tightly written with action to spare. There are many surprises as expected and they continue from beginning to end. The character of Laura is even more developed in this book, opening facets of her that we didn't get a glimpse of in book one. The full cast of characters, from victim to villain to heroine, give a reader just what they want in a thriller. If I was to sum this book up in a word I would use authentic. The entire book felt right through fight scenes, the dialogue is legit and the action scenes are exactly tense enough to satisfy. Overall a great read.

Deadly Harvest is the sequel to “In Defence of Innocence” by Dave Wickenden. The book is brilliantly written and actioned pack from beginning to end.

Wickenden doesn't waste anytime transitioning from a relaxed state to excitement. His character development is excellent. Even thought the main character Laura is a vigilante, the reader is cheering her on as she propels herself through a constant barrage of attacks and life threatening escapades.

He introduces new characters that are easy for the reader to relate to and brings back old characters that are familiar.

Wickenden has again managed to cover another extremely dark subject in a thrilling way.

If you like actioned packed, suspenseful stories, this is the book for you.

I was given an advanced reading copy for an honest review.

ONE SENTENCE SUMMARY
Mission is huge, opposition is terrifying, but determination is never ending.

Plunging into ‘Deadly Harvest’, I was expecting a lot, since this is the second Laura Amour thriller, the first being 'In Defense of Innocence'. Laura has quickly turned into one of my favorite characters, and her determination amazes me. The book, as a whole, is a very captivating read, and much intriguing. Reading David Wickenden’s other books, he has written on a varied theme scheme, but each one is exceptional. Same is the case with ‘Deadly Harvest’.

THE BARE BONES
Laura has taken her ‘crusade’ to France, now, and is shocked to find the horrid things happening to the innocent kids there. She is all set to stop them, but the stacks against her are high. Rachelle, an anti-terrorist police officer, teams up with her, but will the duo remain intact till the very end?

THE CHARCTERS
The one word that describes Laura perfectly, is ‘steadfast’. It sums her up beautifully. She is skilled in her work, each move a very calculated one, sparing no mistakes. She is talented, and ready to take up challenges, no matter the circumstances, or the consequences. “Alone, by herself, she built the kingdom that she wanted.” Gabrielle, a 15-year-old bright child, with a tortured past, puts her trust in Laura, and due to her quick learning, is helpful in the mission. But she’s quickly becoming deeply attached to the vigilante, and vice-versa. This may not be too good, though.

Rachelle, an anti-terrorist police officer, is bent on helping Laura in her mission, as her aims are almost the same. They quickly become fast friends, and are ready to back up each other. THE SETTING 'Deadly Harvest’ is set in France. The situations surrounding the story are described remarkably, and I was almost transported to the setting of the novel! The words make great justice to the country.

Gah what a thrill. Definitely be aware of triggers if you want to read it. This was such a good book. I love that it has such a strong woman lead and not just Laura. I was very impressed. I love how someone did their homework too. People always think with action you run into everything headfirst. No lol. Characters were super smart and knew what they were doing. So well done. I want more of this series for sure!.

If Wickenden’s first book in the Laura Amour series was a hint to its follow-up thriller, I was excited to read it. But wow! Deadly harvest did not disappoint either and was surprisingly different! Easy to read and full of action with a great story line.
