Hell Is a Harem #2

Hell is a Harem: Book 2

Rate this book
Lucifer, the Lord of Hell, has reappeared into my life and he owes a shit ton of alimony.
Twenty-five years worth to be exact, timed from the day he walked out on me and my mother and never looked back.
And I plan on making his life a living Hell until he pays up.
He just smiles, ruffles my hair and tells me I’m cute when I’m angry.
But anger isn’t all that’s rising to the surface with this surprise reunion.
The seal on my past has been broken and the skeletons in the closet are coming out to play.

Dark secrets that involve my mother and the circumstances surrounding her death.

Now I want truth…I demand justice—served cold, on a platter, alongside my father’s stony heart.
But the past isn’t done with me, not by a long shot.
It whispers a new name now…mine.

And it won’t stop until the circle is complete, and I lie in an unmarked grave alongside my Mom at the hands of a powerful sect called The Nine.
The men I love won’t let that happen.
Inspector Titus Banks will risk his job.
Rival, my Hellhound, will turn his back on the Lord of Hell himself.
The Archangel Gabriel will bleed.
And they’ll do it all for love.
I’m holding on with all I have, adrift in the darkness of the past…only I can’t hold on much longer.
I need my Harem…and I need them now.

I have been an avid reader for longer than I can remember, desiring the darker, edgier works of Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. I first started writing in High School giving that away when my first attempt was nothing more than dribble. I wish now that I kept at it, pursued it with a hunger that I currently possess.

Writing is my passion, it is what fuels the fires inside of me and it is an all-or-nothing furnace that keeps me up at all hours.

I am married to a wonderful supportive husband, I have 2 wonderful kids and the best friends that I have waited some 35 odd years to meet.

The Best of All Worlds, Really?

You'd say Lorn has a wonderful love life right, she has the best of all worlds Titus the human Gabriel the angel from Heaven and Rival the hellhound from hell, so yea.....oh and she has an unselee in love with her too, Redemption, problem with that is she just found out he was the one that killed her mother, or was he? As if being Lucifer's daughter wasn't enough! Problem with this great love life is that daddy doesn't want it for me because now I'm on The Nine's radar and they want me gone....When I was alone and was a nobody they didn't bother with me, but now that this lowly human turns out to be Lucifer's heir everybody wants my head, even the humans for being with 3 men that embody all a human, an angel and a hellhound.

But am I really Lucifer's daughter?

Join Lorn as she searches for the truth that's been kept from her all her life while trying to stay alive.

This is a really good series. The characters are thoroughly laid out with complexity that showcases their individuality. The plotline is engrossing with surprises waiting in the wings, so I can’t wait for the next novel.

I have followed Miss Faulks for quite a while now and I have to say she is so very good! If you already loved her then this series is only going to make you fan girl(or boy) even worse! I absolutely love her style, her grittiness, and darkness that is purely Kim Faulks alone. I knew she was awesome but D*MN!!! I love this series! Way to go Miss Kim!!
The second installment of our hell hound, Rival, Gabrielle the arch-angel, Titus our mortal cop and our heroine, Lorn, the princess of Hell. I binge read these books so I can't give too much away but all's I can say is grab your copy now! I seriously can't wait for the rest of this series!!

Full of Surprises

Wow is there a lot of stuff going on in this book! It is one thing after another until poor Lorn cannot figure out fact from fiction. I understand though cause it kept me guessing as well though quite a bit gets answered before we come to the end but it is an ongoing series so we can't have it all. Full of secrets, twists, action, and even some romance. Perfect for fans of reverse harem with magic, angels, and demons. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

This book has a ton going on & it serves to move the overall arc forward. Surprisingly though IMO it was a rather dull read for me. Idk why it just is.

This is the second book in the series and the plotline is just as engrossing in this one as the first. Lorn is needing answers from the past and the only one who can answer is her grandmother. I was unable to put this book down and immediately started the next book so I can find out what happens next

A woman in love smells like seduction and flowers, and desire and danger. - Rival
“I clean when I’m unsettled.”
Unsettled. Such an easy word, a small word really. The kind of thing you say when you don’t want to say the truth. Stressed. Panicked. Angry. Lonely.
- Gabriel and Lorn

Hell is a Harem remains readable and quotable. It took me far too long to read, potentially too many distractions. Binge reading TV series and attempting a 100% run on a game while reading a book? Maybe could be an issue or maybe the story isn't engaging enough to overwhelm the distractions. Interestingly I'm having the same problem with Hell is a Harem that I had with The Four Horsemen (book 1 Legacy. Some books took me forever but I can't put my finger on why.

Hell is a Harem has a brilliant cast of characters and evolving lore. Using the journal to make Steph a living character is clever. Blood magic is a smart play. I think Ace is going to be important. Good or bad is unclear but certainly, not everything is as it seems. The series remains enjoyable. Plot and character driven rather than driven by intimacy. I will continue reading the series but first a break.

WTF is the point of this book. I have honestly tried to give it a chance because at least there seems to be a minute amount of intention compared to the first book. but seriously, wtf?! I have not even come close to the halfway point of this book because it was not intended to be read. I feel like I'm reading cornball lines on repeat. this is basically the literary (loosely used term) version of every single bad pun horatio says on CSI:Miami (cue the music), except there is no content in between to stymie the flow of drivel. this entire piece reeks of contrived "literary" devices that amount to nothing. it's just vagueness on steroids. there is so much desperation to be a "serious" author, i can read an entire page and not have clue what happened. if the author would ever care to build a scene instead of forcefully trying to knock us over our heads with her "cleverness", her writing might stand a chance. It hurts me to say it but the terrible messes from Sam Crescent have clearer story progression for her shitty characters than this muddle. i actually want to know these characters. i actually want read this story- if the author would only let me. i don't believe most of the reviews because anyone who "read" this or the others would know that it was impossible to clearly follow the story- even if you are not grammatically inclined.

As the adventure continues for Lorn and her men things get a little......

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Lorn has the knowledge to take down The Circle from the top and that is just what she is going to do...within reason.
Lorn needs the answers from the past...like who killed her mother and who are the 9? The only one who might the answers are her Grandmother.
After a visit to her Grandmother's house Lorn is beaten but twice by various groups....
Titus, Gabriel and Rival are trying to do their best to help Lorn but she is keeping secrets and they're not sure what to do. Lorn isn't the only one keeping secrets...Rival has a big one too!
When a box of books arrive for Lorn from her Grandmother a copy of her mother's journal which gives her some insight into her past.
With all the evil after Lorn they want to stop her because of the past...or is it because of who her father is?

This is book 2 of the Lick of Fire Series. We have developed our Harem and now we are on to the thick of the story.

Titus: Cop turned paranormal lover and disbanded from the force (human, we think 🤔)

Rival: Blood hound from hell that has a huge secret 🤐 and it’s tearing him up inside

Gabriel: Arch Angel 😇 sweety, lover and a big mush who gets into trouble

Lorn: Daughter of Hell, is a lot more powerful then she thought, she learns to lean on her men and we find out more about her mom

The story truly comes together and is getting good, my only complaint with this is (and maybe it’s because I listened on @audible ) but it was really wordy and descriptive for an audiobook. Lots of inner monologue, probably would have been better reading the book.

I did love the narrators and that they had a male narrator for the men’s POV 👏

I will be jumping right into book 3 on @audible can’t wait.

Oh my word the angst, drama and pain in this book. Lorn still hurts from Redemption's manipulations, Alma's coldness though she has formed a family with those she loves Titus the human cop, Rival the Hellhound and Gabriel the archangel. She is still trying to accept Lucifer her father the Lord of Hell.

So many secrets get uncovered within this story but I'm left wondering how Lorn handles the coming war with Absalon, the Unseelie and Redemption's Prince. Does Lorn's family persevere. Just exactly what will happen next Ms. Faulks I almost wish you had the complete series written before hitting that publish button.

If you like reverse harem, dark fantasy and a play against the Bible then grab this cause you'll be on the edge of your seat as Lorn fights for all she is worth.

I voluntarily read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this opinion.

So good!

Holy crap, do i ever love this series! This book (#2) had me so invested that i just don't want it to end. Book #1 had the exact same effect on me. I adore Lorn and all of her men, even if we did find out some not so good things about one of them. I'm kinda hoping to see Redemption join her harem in book #3, now that his loyalty has been sorted, kind of... They would have a lot to work out between the two of them, especially with all the not so great history they have together. Anyway, this was a wicked good continuation from the first book and i would definitely recommend reading it. Just be warned that if you haven't already read book #1, you need to, before starting this book. This is not a stand alone and ended in a cliffhanger of sorts. So looking forward to book #3!!!

Great read

I started reading this book without holding my breath that it was going to be any good. Turns out it's had me gripped from the very get go. It's been un-put-downable. There were a few times where the story slips and it's had me reading back through to check what has happened but they haven't ruined the story telling. The plot is very good, a bit foreseeable but good non the less. The characters come alive and their personalities shine. For the life of me I can't understand how the Lord of hell would let his daughter suffer so much and he doesn't particularly come off as Lucifer the fallen Angel but there you go, can't win them all. From someone who has read some of the best books/series out there, I'm giving this four stars as it did keep my attention and the story telling was brill.

In the continuing journey of Lorn, nothing is quite as it seems. Mysteries abound around every corner as Lorn seeks to find out who she is, and the truth behind her mother's death.
This book was even better than the first. The story developed and flowed nicely. There were still some simple editing issues, but not nearly as many as in the previous story. The action was easier to follow, and flowed much better.
This story drew me in from the very beginning, and kept me enthralled throughout. Through all the twists and turns, this story held my attention raptly.
I truly recommend this story for fans of dark reverse harem. I truly enjoyed it, and will definitely continue the series.

As exciting a RH book as I’ve ever read!

OMG this series is exciting and addicting! This book was full of surprises I didn’t see coming. What a crazy and disfunctional “family” Lorn has made for herself. As if having Lucifer for a father wasn’t enough, but also loving and having a relationship with an archangel (Gabriel), a Hellhound (Rival), and a human (Titus) all together; feeling betrayed by her grandmother and her ex-lover (Redemption) and finding her mother’s journal has Lorn’s head and heart all messed up. And now she’s got some crazy beast after her. Just wow! I couldn’t put the book down. Now I can’t wait for the next one!

She reads her mom’s journal from when she first fell in love and the heartbreak ❤️‍🩹 and abuse she suffered. You see a completely different side of her father in the flash backs.

The book was interesting enough but also very frustrating, I’ve read lots of reverse harem books but her men are not doing anything for me. She lies and keeps things from them which almost gets her killed. They should be working together as a family or team but they aren’t.

She gets herself kidnapped with her angel (I’m kinda shocked her angel wasn’t able to defeat them). Her human lover gets badly hurt. And I have no clue why her grandmother would go into a fight when she was already hurt seemed silly.

I waited until reading all of the books in the series before providing the reviews.

This was my favorite of the series and where I felt we got to know the characters better and become comfortable with the "family" dynamic. Unfortunately, it made what happens at the end of the book that much more devastating because we are more invested.

There is a bit of a road map laid out in this book that was intriguing enough for me to want to continue the series. And, of course, I wanted to keep up with the characters that I had come to like.

Glass cage of emotion!

I loved this book! The secrets , lies, and love. Sexy times were fantastic! I could not put this book down and absolutely can't wait for the next one! I need to find out what Titus is, how Lorn will come out and if she keeps going on with not telling her guys anything I will want to strangle her. I really hope Redemption becomes part of her harem, Gabriel better be ok and Rival has a lot of explaining to do.

A bit confusing

At the end of book1 Lucifer says the mother's name was Blaire.in this book it's Steph. Lorn frequently seems disoriented but it's not clear what was the night hag,the journal or just her state of mind. The action was easier to follow in this book than in book1 but it's still a bit muddled at times. I like the storytelling,i like the characters, just need a little more continuity.

Lorn as a MC just speaks to me. This series is exactly what dark romance should be. The pain of life is made more tolerable by the love we're surrounded with. Lorn is still working to manage the immense power she possesses, and to not allow it to take control. Throughout the book, I feel her emotions acutely and empathize. This is one of my favorite reverse harem series.

This has been a really good series, the author connects us with the characters. I enjoyed the splashes of humor because this book was definitely darker than book one. It certainly lays the groundwork for the next one, we're kind of left with a cliffhanger ending. I certainly hope the next packs this kinda punch and gives us the ending we hope for.

Emotional and heart-wrenching! If you loved the first then you won't be able to put this book down! Lorn is still discovering who she can really trust. Bits of her past are coming to the forefront. She's wading through relationships while trying to discover the truth. All she's ever wanted. The truth. But can she handle it? Or will it send her spiraling and break her?

So much happens in Hell is a Harem book 2

If you like Hell is a Harem ( Licks of Fire Book 1) your going to Love book 2. Lorn, Rival, Gabriel and Titus, are working to adjust to their new relationships, and build a strong family.
But there are so many questions that Lorn needs answers too.

This book is full of twist, turns and full of surprises! I couldn't put it down!

I LOve this continuation of this series. The relationships between Lorn & Lucifer, and Lorn & Her men are moving along well. There are some new developments, Love, Pain and Loss. This addition to this series is a great one. I find myself sad that this book came to an end. I am anxiously waiting for book three. The ending leaves me craving more.

I really enjoyed the book. She is really learning a lot of the secrets that have been kept from her for so long. I like that the author keeps you guessing and goes in a different direction than expected with the characters and the storyline. It keeps me wanting more.

Jesus.

That’s a lot happening. A bit of a mind f going on with Lorn. I liked the growing relationship between Rival and Gabriel, as well as the parts with Rival and Redemption. Titus still feels like a bit of an outsider. Things are heating up with her father Lucifer on the scene and new leads on her mother’s death. Third one is gonna be good.

I really liked the first book, but this one fell a little flat. I felt a bit more scattered than the first book. I’m all for strong characters, development, and pushing them out of their boundaries to achieve it, but there were times that I felt it was a little hard to follow. Still a good read and looking forward to the next one, though.

Could be great

So much information mismatch in the story. 😕 confused me had to throw it out just to keep reading. If he was banished why did the Prince come to get him at the company. Then there is the main character is she strong or weak. Do she care about humans or hate them. She is feared because of her power but keeps getting abused by others. To many directions.
