I'm a 48-year-old child who has no plans to ever actually grow up.

I make my living as a paramedic, clinical educator, for a busy hospital system and work as a street medic in a 911 system.

In my free time, I serve as the director of the Boulder County Paranormal Research Society, and investigate claims of haunted properties, people, and objects on both sides of the Atlantic. I love to read, particularly SF/Fantasy, history and historical fiction, the paranormal, and basically anything that piques my interest. I appear on the TV shows Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, Haunted Case Files, and several others.

I am an avid video gamer, table-top gamer, and love to build Lego. My wife and I are the proud humans of five adopted rescue cats and one smelly but adorable dog.

As always I truly enjoy these books about
haunted places! Wish I had the money to
travel to these places and experience the
hauntings for myself. But since I don't I'll
be doing a lot of reading. Great book!

This is a fascinating book about the investigation of a former elementary school which reportedly has a variety of things going on and with one or more entities of some kind inside.

The town is very small which probably led to the closure of the school. One odd thing is that the school is not noted for anything particularly bad happening in its past which causes one to wonder just why does it seem to be haunted?

Beings that seem to be inside include shadow beings, one known as The Principal. The book covers the other entities the investigating group ran into and the types of electronic tools that were used in the investigation which was a pretty good selection of different devices.

One thing I will note here. Make sure you look at You Tube for videos about various investigations at the school. They dovetail with what the group themselves found.

The group was there for several nights and heard footsteps, saw streaks of light, saw a 7 foot tall shadow person and got a number of EVPs.

The author also notes that various paranormal-investigating groups have infighting going on which is not really the way things are supposed to be done.

There are two portals that seem to be in the school and these are discussed. Spirit boards and spirit boxes are covered along with a lot of times batteries going dead when they shouldn't have which is something that has been noticed many times in the investgiations at Skinwalker Ranch.

The author also notes that they do try to find explanations for various sounds that they heard so they are not taking everything that happens as proof of anything, necessarily.

One thing noted is to be respectful when investigating a place.

There are interviews with various people involved in this type of work.

There's a lot of various interesting things going on in the book. The investigation itself seems to be done well and it still leaves open the question of why is this abandoned school with no history of violence or terror haunted?

I live in Iowa and we are going to do an investigation and explore Farrar in July. I had to get this to see what we could potentially be getting ourselves into but more than that just wanted to read about what paranormal investigators thought about one of our haunted locations in Iowa. I found this to be an interesting read and like how the writers offer what they experienced and interviewed others that have investigated there as well. They talk about their experiences but leave it up to you on how you want to take it. Looking forward to reading more by this author. Enjoyed this book & am really looking forward to going to do the investigation here in the next week!

Interesting

This was a great informative and educational read. Once again I felt like I was being taught what it's like to conduct a paranormal investigation. If you're into learning about the paranormal and not just looking for a book to scare you. Richard Estep and his fellow author E.E. Bensen books are certainly the ones to read.

I really enjoyed the read and how I was pulled into the mystery and depth of the stories told by Estep. I liked the real life interviews that were added into the book. I would really like to take trips out to these haunted locations however since it's not convenient to do so at this time I’ll just continue to read about these places instead.

I was more looking for some true fear and terror and I didn’t really find that. Perhaps it’s more just that it felt like a documentary to me. It was interesting do not get me wrong, but I think I went in to this expecting something more and different. I had no idea this place even existed in Iowa. Intriguing for sure, I just was looking for more from it and that’s ok.

Thought provoking

This is a really good read. Scary? Yes. Terrifying? No, or at least not from the comfort of my armchair. No doubt it would be a very different matter if I was visiting the haunted school.

It's a very well written book, with clear descriptions of the events which occur, but I was most impressed with the discussions about what it was that was haunting the school, and why that place was haunted in the first place.

I will be looking out for more books by the authors; I like their writing style as much as their subject matter.
