It is an ancient story. In the beginning... God created. From silence and spirit to sky and water to shouting and singing and the human family. God created everything. It is an ancient story, told anew in vivid words and pictures for children and families to enjoy again and again.
This book is simple and straight forward. The story of Creation put into words that children can understand and learn from. This would not be the book about Creation I would choose for my own personal collection but it does get the job done. Since we can't teach religion in the classroom it is hard to teach Creation because it is the basis for Christianity.
The illustrations are bright and colorful and had to the written text because the pictures match the story the text is trying to tell. The illustrations are a mix between an art painting and cartoons.. in my opinion of course. Without the illustrations as they are the book wouldn't have much value because you be left to imagine the things God created on your own and although we know what the ocean, a giraffe, a bird, trees, flowers, etc. look like the pictures make it easier to imagine when reading about it.
Overall, good basic Creation book with great illustrations. Would recommend to a friend or child who was just being introduced to Creation.
This picture book, a retelling of the story of creation, is sure to please young readers with its simple narrative colorful illustrations. Repetition helps to tie the narrative into a cohesive whole [rather than a series of pages enumerating God’s creations]. It’s a perfect book for parents to share with their children.
The story of God's Creation simply put, making it easy for young children to understand. Although my 4 year old niece can't really read yet, she enjoyed repeating the words I said. Lovely illustrations too.
