This is a six book set. The editing especially in the first two novels could have used some work. There are typos through the series. If this drives you crazy, you might want to skip these. However, if you push on, you will find that the characters grow on you overtime. I give the same piece of advice I got when I started reading the Game of Thrones book. Don't get too attached to anyone.
There is some interesting world building and I could see lots of ways that the author could proceed going forward. Give it a go!
What can I say but OUTSTANDING! The only thing disappointing to me were some of the people who died. Absolutely, fits the books but I had grown attached to the characters. I am begging you when does the next set come out, hopefully it will be soon. My only objective now is to cleae out my kindle so I can read every single one of your books related to this world. Absolutely fantastic!
There are so many issues with these books!! The first book alone has the worst grammar of them all but, once started, I have to read all of the books to the very end!! I bought them so as to read them with my 12 year old daughter, even she could recognise how particular sentences should have been worded correctly, to have the sentence actually make sense!! Now you might think my reading them with my 12 year old daughter is a bit odd, but it's something we both still enjoy from her younger years when I back then, would read bedtime stories!! But the one thing we constantly would notice in all the books, was that he'd constantly refer to the characters with different names! A prime example would be when all of a sudden the Albet surname had become Alton!!! There were so many more mistakes like this and if I was to name them all, I would still be writing this review this time next week!! Does Robyn not have proof readers or editors?? More importantly, did he not check it as he went along, just in case of glaring mistakes as this?? The worst part is, he didn't just refer to Verin or Avera as Alton once, it was throughout that entire chapter, to suddenly become Albet again the chapter after!! Ethan became Edward for a couple of paragraphs, well I'll stop there or this will become a novel in of itself!!! Perhaps he should employ either myself and my daughter to proof read his next lot of books, we'll charge a fraction of the price, but at least he'll then know that the characters would all have their correct names!!! Especially ones that are part of THE main characters of his stories!!! These are just a couple of things, as I'm not going to go into as much detail about the unnecessary repetitive parts as well!! There are more issues, but if they got rid of just a few of the aforementioned issues, the novels would actually be quite enjoyable!! Well my daughter and I agree that we'll leave this review as it is. Read the books for yourself, as the underlying idea is there and we both shed quite a few tears and had a "chuckle" (he really uses that word a LOT, everyone "chuckles" throughout) with the characters.....especially in book 6 😢😢😭😭 But make your own judgement with the novels, as our thoughts about them won't necessarily be yours!! You will fall in love with the characters, regardless of the constant name changes, and like I said, IF you can ignore the glaringly obvious mistakes, they do work out to be a really good idea and would be so much more enjoyable if fixed 😊😊
From the gate it is obvious the editor being human or program is seriously lacking in cohesion and continuity. So bad your grasp of the book is completely knocked askew.
Then please using a liberal social axiom to present as a basis for bias is a tad misaligned. It simply does not fit the projected timelines.
Worse it is bad enough our main hero is the perfect warrior, wizard, killer, yada, yada. But his girlfriend and other female friend as he are perfect fighting and killing machines even after, oh me gosh! Minutes of study!
The first 5 books I couldn't put down. It was the perfect mix of adventure and meaningful friendships. The last book seemed to lose steam. The main character through the first 5 books was becoming a badass warrior through hard work, who also whose magical ability was growing fast... but in 5 the author seemed to lose steam. The main character seem to loss momentum and his drive to get better as a warrior and mage. Book 6 took away from being a 5 star for me. I would still recommend the series to people.
Huge pity the author chose to ruin the reading experience with dialogue using Southern American vernacular. The whole point of fiction is to establish suspension of suspension of disbelief so you can deliver your fiction or fantasy genre tale. Bringing in language that suggests the Dukes of Hazzard are about to make an entry into a well constructed story line and plot is a critical mistake. The strong story line, otherwise well constructed word smithing and coherent sub plots could have scored much higher but I had to abandon at 31% through the boxset as my suspension of disbelief was broken one last time and I was done persisting to get past it. A real shame give the well constructed story line.
I really enjoyed the adventures of Nathan Stoneblood and all his family, friends, and fellow warrior. A boy with an amazing heart and strength of mind as he follows all is adventures starting in Elderwood and off to Mithbea, rescuing friends and meeting family. It's exciting to see how he travels through life and deal with victories and losses, using strength, knowledge, and grief to bring him to the next adventure. Has Robyn Wideman written a new story of battles, life, and love in Nathan's future?
The series first few books held my attention and were difficult to put down. However, as the storyline progressed it became bitty with too many mini events which felt like padding. The poor spelling, disjointed sentences and apparent dependency on a word checker was irritating (i.e. route instead of rout). Towards the end of book six the author appeared to get his act back together. Will read book seven despite my mid series reservations.
good read, but too many grammatical errors and irregularities to get a 5* from me unfortunately. every book in the series does tell its own tale and advance the overall structure of the plot very well, even though sometime I found it abrupt how quickly the dynamic shifted, such as the Zhuldi problem showing up without having defeated Lord Zellox. Even if some parts may be on the dodgier side for young readers, overall a very good series.
This is a great, well done series. Nathan Stoneblood has lost much, but through the adversity he strengthens his magic and physical prowess. Emotions are strongly communicated as I could feel the despondency over the loss of favorite characters and the euphoria of love and success. I like the action and romance.
Good and easy reads. I got the 6 book set and have devoured it. While the books do lag in places, sometimes too much detail focused on unimportant areas, the general flow works well. It is fun to see the characters change throughout. I look forward to the next installment.
The book starts off at the usual pace, but for me it lacked that boom to make it exceptional, Predictable by with one good hero to keep the story gong. Maybe the younger readers should enjoyed it and at times so did I. But sometimes the storyline lanquished to boring trivial things. Won’t be reading 6.5
What kind of person who has people trying to kill them before they are even born turns out to be? What makes them a protector of the people that come into their lives? I was hooked from the very beginning of the first book! All six books are fantastic! Highly recommend this one!! Thank you Robyn Wideman!
It’s seldom that I get so caught up emotionally with the characters in a book, to have them suffer and die kept me up a number of nights. As with any great read I put it down a number of times to process what happened but I just kept coming back for more. I hope the author gets a moment to revisit Nathan and let us know how he’s progressing
Story was good and the characters as well. Kept me engaged. However whoever edited these books should be fired. There where so many missing words, typos, and other errors that if the story was not so good I would have stopped reading. It was edited like my son's elementary school reports.
While having 6 books to read at once is a lot, at the end I am glad. Now I am left waiting for the next part of this amazing story and find that I am growing impatient. I got wrapped up in the characters, and the story, and I do not want it to end. Magic, love, strife, bad guys and a lot of luck! What a great mix!
I became so engrossed with Nathan Stoneblood, and his family history. The last book was great but so sad. Every time someone died, I was saddened as if they were real. It takes a great author to pull a reader into their world and make it so real. The only issues I had was spelling and gragrammatical errors. I sure hope another book follows these six!
This was a good series of books with a good, yet generic start, but as each book went on it grew into it's own identity as it explored themes like death, grief and strength through pain very well, especially in the middle books which were shocking. I liked the characters and the journeys that they all went on.
The story and characters are great and there are many lessons along the way. Captivating and kept me wanting more. The editing is a little wonky at times but not that hard to read past, just some minor errors that do not interrupt the story line.
I loved the Stoneblood series! I just wished I could find a better ending! Sorry, but it is the truth! I wanted to see Nathan in love, and Kassandra banished to the ends of the world.
Fast moving story of young man growing to a great leader with powers inherited from parents who tried to just wanted to be normal family in small village. The adventure starts and by the end you are wanting more!
This was very well written . I read 1 - 6 books in 4 days because I was so enthralled . To the author thank you very much for such a exciting storyline. I look forward to reading your other works. Thank you again
I loved this series! Mr. Wideman shows that family does not always mean blood. The relationships feel authentic and fun. Book 6 gets our characters a little spread out for my taste, but it is not too hard to keep up. I highly recommend it and can wait to start 6.5 and then book 7!
As the grandmother of 7, ages 14 - 32, I started to really enjoy Fantasy about 20 years ago and I loved these books. I have book 7 in my library and will start it soon. Thank you for this wonderful series.
Another interesting story ruined by lack of proofreading!
Great storyline and interesting characters. Unfortunately, the reading experience is ruined by very bad syntax and grammar, as well as typos and getting the characters' names mixed up.
Nathan brought up in a village to fine out he’s from royalty and also had magical powers.. Could not put the book down.. Can’t wait to some more by this author..
Really good read characters leapt from the page intertwined with sorcery magic and fighting thoroughly enjoyed it It's like each character grew in the story
