Like all Sluggy Freelance books, this collection runs the gambit, from contests about whether garlic butter is better than deep frying, to intensity of battles between an evil mega-corporation and an mysterious mind-controlled gymnast assassin, to fate-web spiders, to relationship advice, to zombie-filled labs, tragedy, denial, and determination for our main characters Torg, Zoe, Riff, and Gwynn.

This book is the run-up to the start of the most powerful interwoven chapters in the comic's 20+ years, "Minion Master" and "4U City," (2009-2011, I believe) coming in book 20 sometime soon. The archives from 1997-present are available online at sluggy.com, but the experience of reading them on the printed page felt even swifter and more intense.

Since the comic has been going so long, it might feel difficult to jump into it. However, I think it could be possible for a new reader to start here, recognizing that they would be jumping in medias res.
