Chasing Karma

Rate this book
My name is Karma Gallo. If you’ve heard of me, I am sure you're remembering a story about a police raid, missing person report, or an FBI probe into my family. My father is a Chicago mob boss, and I’m his little principessa—the heir apparent with no life of my own. But in twelve days my life will change.

College will do that to a girl. So will the frat boy and the bad boy—two panty-dampening guys throwing around a lot of testosterone. Neither is what they seem. While one wants to protect me and the other want to use me to force my father’s hand. I might be a princess, but I have claws and I’m not afraid to use them.

Once all is revealed will love be enough or will all the lies and deceit tear everything apart?

When I read the blurb for this book, I knew instantly that I was going to love it. Luckily I wasn't disappointed and it met my expectations and more. The story was very funny, sexy, romantic, hot and unpredictable.
The story follows Karma. She is a "Mafia Princess"." Karma's dad is a very dangerous mob boss. Because of who her dad is Karma has grown up surrounded by men protecting her and having no freedom. She was taught at a very young age how to look after herself, fight and defend herself and to always make sure she no's her surroundings. Karma just wants a ordinary life, so manages to convince her dad to let her go to college in a different state.
Karma goes off to college and instantly meets a mystery man that really intrigues her but who she knows she needs to stay away from.....are her instincts correct?
Karma is a amazing character. She's very feisty, but likeable. She is tough, takes no nonsense, whitty character. You can really understand how hard it must if been for her growing up with her dad being the mob boss and having no freedom. I really felt for her and wanted her to have some freedom and experience life without all her dad's men following her and restricting what she does.
The story was very fast paced. There was a lot packed in to a short period, so you never had time to get distracted or have your mind wonder. I loved how there was so many twists, turns and secrets packed in that you never knew what was going to happen on the next page. It was all very intriguing and mysterious.
I absolutely loved the cover for this book. The cover alone made me want to read this book. It was very hot and the girl on the front gave me a good image in my head of what Karma looked like.
The book overall had everything I would want in a good story..passion, mystery, suspense and unproductiveness
Chasing Karma is defiantly one of the better Mob books out there and I can't wait to see what happens in book 2.

This book has been so much fun to write. I love Karma's smart mouth and the dynamic between her and Travis. Karma knows what she wants in life and refuses to accept anything less. I hope you all fall in love with her and her men as much as I have.

** JOSIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW **

Chasing Karma is a really pleasant and exciting read. The characters have an exceptional sexual spark and boy can you see it. We get to explore they life of the mafia and a princess of a Mafia King, the characters are fearless, true to their mafia upbringings. The book had all the aspects that made it a hit for me we have romance, desire, danger, suspense, and the UNKNOWN. I am a sucker for a good mafia book and this one was it!!!

Karma, Princepessa of a mob family in Chicago wants to live a normal life away from the mob scene. She wants to go to college, party, get drunk and meet really hot guys and just have fun for a change. Karma Stevenss goes to attend college in Texas, believing she left the mob life and the drama back in Chicago. She has finally got her freedom and is facing a new life; she has new friend and has met a really, really hot guy, Travis.

“Thanks for the advice Captain helpful, but I don’t need anything.”

“It is going to be hard to make it back to your room by yourself, if you think you can retract your claws, I might be nice enough to offer my services.”

“I think it’s all wrong. Completely misunderstood.”

“What is wrong?”

“That saying, the one about Karma being a bitch. No, you’re no bitch, just a kitten with really sharp claws. It was a pleasure meeting you, Karma. See you around.”

On her very first day at College, she meets Travis (SWEET BABY JESUS-MOTHER HELL I NEED ONE OF THOSE). Travis is dangerous for Karma he makes her feel things she wants to stay away from, he is the typical bad boy. Travis and Karma have this pull, they gravitate to one another and he works her up. Karma’s body reacts to Travis and even though she says friends is good; her body and heart are saying something else. Karma has not told anyone who she really is, and this is the problem; telling anyone can put her in danger and in the process take away the one thing she wants her independence. Her mafia life and the secrets she keeps jeopardize her new life and destroy everything and they just might cost her Travis.

“And what exactly is it that you think is inevitable?”

“That despite your consistent objections you will cake to me. You can fight it all you want but the fact is that you want me as much as I want you. When you finally cave, and believe me kitten you will cave, I will ravage that sweet little body of yours over and over until you are completely spent and splendidly drained.”
(HMMMM yep that ain’t even sex dirty talk)

Travis has his own secret, his job, which is REALLY REALLY GOOD AT. He has to protect himself and his secrets from being exposed, but Karma calls to him and he cannot stay away. Travis will do anything to keep her in his life and keep her safe.

“You, my kitten, entice me in way no one ever has. I want to now you inside-out. I want to know what your favorite things are, what makes you laugh, how you like to be touched, and the sound your voice makes when it scream my name out while I make you come again and again.”

Karma and Travis are perfect for each other; Karma is strong and persistent, they are both bold and wild. Travis is able to tear down Karma’s walls and see who she really is. Their feelings for one another are undisputable, they are alike. Once they finally cave in and get together, you can see that they just fit. What happens when Karma’s real life comes crashing right in, Karma cannot hide from her life anymore.

“Eyes on me, Kitten. Unwrap me baby. I love the color of your nipples. When aroused they are a deep pink, like a ripe plum, begging to me picked. Do you taste as rich as a plum? You taste delicious. Sweet as honey. Damn babe, you’re f**king soaked. Mine, all mine.”

“Stop being a tease and f**k me. I love ”

“I will f**k you when and how I please, Karma. Who owns your pleasure?”

“Move”

“Not until you answer me, babe.”

“You, Travis. It’s you pleasuring me and it’s your c**k my pu**y wants. It’s all you.”

Karma is no princess that is to bet treated with care on no, she is tough and is a true fighter. Travis is a total alpha, bad a$$, he is possessive, protective and will fight to the death for Karma.

There are twists and turns, that had me not knowing what to expect. The sex scenes are like HOLY HELL- HOT!!!

“I’m serious about this Karma. There is something not right about him. I don’t want you near him again.”

“You can’t tell me what to do. That is no part of the contract, remember?”

“F**k the contract, you’re mine, babe. Mine! Nothing is going to going to stop me from protecting what is mine.”

“Say it Karma. I need to hear you. Who owns this pretty pu**y? Whose cock does this pretty pu**y crave? Who do you crave?”

“You Travis, only you.”

Will Karma get the life she always dreamed of? Or is a life already scripted? Will Travis’ secret forever cost him the love and life he wants with Karma? When Travis’ secret is finally revealed, can Karma ever forgive him? I can tell this series is going to be AMAZE-BALLS, and I really need book 2 Catching Karma, like ASAP!!! PLEASE

“You are not getting rid of me that easily, Kitten. I protect what’s mine and no matter how much you disagree and fight me, you are mine!”

I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Chasing Karma by C. Shell was a pretty enjoyable and interesting read. This story caught me off guard. There were definitely some very predictable parts but others were far from predictable. The characters had a special romantic spark that I loved. I delved into a different world while reading this and one thing these characters were was fearless. The book had a lot of different elements rolled into one. Those elements would be romance(my favorite), passion, danger, suspense, and a tiny bit of mystery. That is exactly what kept me reading from beginning to end. This book definitely took me on a walk on the wild side.

We meet Karma in the beginning. She is a mafia princess. Which means her father is a mafia king. She is embarking on a new chapter in her life away from the life she was raised in. She moves away and attends college. Karma is determined to have a normal college experience. The first day there she meets Travis. He makes her feel things that she wanted to stay away from. She planned on staying away from the bad boys. Travis is the one person who instantly gets under her skin. They have a unique magnetic relationship. Being friends is what her head says, but her body and heart tell her the opposite. Afraid to tell anyone who she is, Karma is faced with so many decisions. She knows that telling anyone who she really is could endanger and most importantly she would lose the only independence she ever had. Her secrets threaten to destroy her new life and maybe even the man she could possibly be in love with. Will Karma get the future she has dreamed of? Or be forced to live the life she is afraid of?

Karma is on a road to her independence. Something she's fought long and hard for. She is faced with all the new and exciting adventures of being away at college. She has made new friends, and has enjoyed her connection with Travis.

Karma is stubborn yet strong. Travis peels at her layers and sees what she is hiding inside. The feelings are undeniable. They both are so similar. Both reckless and fearless. When they are together it feels right. It doesn't take these too very long to see they belong together. But! Yes there's a but! You can never run from who you truly are or who you are meant to be. Although I have some sympathy for Karma I still think how cool it would be to be her...a mafia princess!

This book wasn't too heavy a story. I would say it was a light and exciting read. You get a lot of great moments between these characters. Ones that you'll probably want to read more than once. I look forward to reading more in this series. I have a feeling there is a lot more to come from Karma's story.

Chasing Karma by C. Shell
4 1/2 stars
Fast Paced Dynamic Read
Nothing in life is ever as it seems especially if you are the only daughter of a mob boss in Chicago who only wants to be "normal" and attend college in Texas.

Karma Gallo, "principessa" of Toni Gallo a notorious Chicago Mob boss. She is a strong spirited 19 yr old who has lived her life under the overprotective watchful eyes of her father and his trusted men. All she wants is to go away to college and live a "normal" life where people do not know her or her family name.
Travis Miller, the mysterious, cocky, Mr. tall, dark and handsome with jade eyes who is at the college to keep an eye on daddy little girl.

The storyline is fast paced (loved that aspect) and revolves around Karma arriving at Rice University in Texas. She is situated in a co-ed dorm with Rebecca, a sweet southern gal, as her roommate. Rebecca decides to show Karma how to loosen up and enjoy college life.
This is where the story really gets going. Classes, parties, Travis, jealous girlfriend, not so nice drunk frat boys, more classes, more parties, obnoxious drunken frat boy, definitely more Travis. Oh yea did I mention sex? Plenty of that in these pages. Deceit, broken trust, heartache all come into play, throughout this story line , making the drama and the characters outstanding. Nothing in life is ever as it seems.

NOTE: This is a cliffhanger. It is the first installment in the Karma Series by C. Shell so you are left with a what will happen next scenario. At the time, of this review, the 2nd book has yet to be published. My hope is that it will be out soon, as I for one, would like to see where to story goes from here.

Karma, Princepessa, to mob family in Chicago only wants to go off to college and live a carefree life of school work, parties and hot guys to have fun with. She leaves to go to Texas to college as Karma Stevenss thinking she has left all the drama of the mob behind.

Karma literally falls at the feet of the guy that will capture her heart on the first day of being on her own at college. Travis is tall, sexy, cocky and so not what she needs right now. But her body wants him with a burning heat although she has that gut feeling that things with Travis are not what they seem.

Travis has a job to do. And he is good as his good, almost too good. He has his own secrets to protect. But he falls under Karma’s spell and will do anything to keep her safe even if it means his life.

I love that Karma was as tough as any guy but also just as much a girl. Her witty comebacks, her tough fighter instinct made her a great character. Travis oh Travis was every girls dream of a friends with benefits. He has that possessiveness that we all want in our men.

There are couple twists in the story to keep you guessing who they are. The chemistry and sex scenes are hot. I enjoy this book and looking forward to Catching Karma to see if she how her life as the Princepessa to the mob will play out.

Karma is the daughter of a huge Chicago mob boss. She has lived a life under the constant watch and protection of her father and has finally struck a deal whereby she can go far away to college and attempt to live for a while like a normal girl her age. She loves her first taste of freedom, and enjoys her classes, her new friends, and the new extremely sexy guy she can't seem to resist. Things seem to be going well, until she realizes that the man she is involved with is keeping something form her. Then she finds out that some of her father's "business" has found her in her new life and may put everything in jeopardy.

I loved Karma. She is unapologetic, and is who she is. Despite her needing to keep some things about her identity a secret, she remains faithful to herself throughout. Travis is beyond hot, and even though his behaviors when they first meet are a little sneezy, he quickly won me over (and obviously Karma as well). The chemistry they share is intense and even after finding out what he is hiding, I really want them to be able to make things work. This story hooked me from the start and kept me engaged throughout. We are left with a good amount of suspense at the end, and I will be eager to read the next book in this series.

I was sent Chasing Karma by the author to read for review purposes. I must admit that, at the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I would like this book. This was because the main character is much younger than I am.
I’m glad I didn’t let this stop me from reading this book.
I really liked Karma. She was one awesome chick. But I think the thing that kept me interested was the mystery surrounding many of the characters in this book. I was constantly asking myself questions. Who is Travis? Who is Joseph? Do I trust them? Do I even like them? Don’t get me started on Bridgett. Some of those questions were answered, but not all of them.
Although this book doesn’t end with what I would call a cliff hanger, it’s obvious that Karma’s story isn’t. But when I finished reading Chasing Karma, I knew that I wanted to read more of this series.
I gave Chasing Karma 4 stars.

Chasing Karma by C. Shell was a steamy read and a promising start to what I hope is a long series!

Karma is a mafia princess and despite her father's penchant for crime she still comes across as a sweet but tough as nails heroine. Protected all of her life, college is Karma's first chance to have some fun without constant supervision. Karma and Travis have an instant connection and their romance practically sizzled off the page.

Chasing Karma was such a fast-paced read and I loved how much Karma grew from the first page to the last.

Recommended to anyone who likes New Adult books.

This book was hot and intense. I thought I had it all figured out and then something would happen to make me second-guess, but I thought I knew. This book was so sexy, and I thought my body was going to go up in flames. I love that Karma is strong and sexy and powerful yet has a sensitive side that I hope ends up with Travis. I can't wait to read the next book. Get ready to read this amazing adventure and get swept away into this mafia world.
