Bruce Jackson is an American folklorist, documentary filmmaker, writer, photographer. He is SUNY Distinguished Professor and the James Agee Professor of American Culture at the University at Buffalo. Fantastic book in the form of essays, a memoir of sorts about the places Bruce Jackson has been and the people he's met there—and the misadventures in between. Includes essays with anecdotes about Walter Evans, Foucault, William Kunstler, Robert Creeley, Alan Lomax, and many, many more. A glimpse into his life, but also a glimpse into a community and wash of figures, all creative, a book littered with fantastic stories and lessons and jokes, all of which connected by the strange thing that is memory.
