Great speeches in the course of history have not only created history, but also changed history and 75 of those great speeches have been included in this book. These speeches have lifted hearts in dark times, given courage to the weary, hope in despair, inspired brave feats and also honoured the dead. Delivered by kings and queens, presidents and prime minister of great countries, freedom fighters and political leaders of freedom movements from around the world, they cover a wide period from ancient times with speeches of Socrates and Alexander the Great to modern times with speeches of Steve Jobs in 2005 and A P J Abdul Kalam, ex-President of India in 2011.
This book is an ever-lasting resource for all who seek the counsel of great mentors who guided men to virtue through these speeches.
Selectively read them. Most of them are calls for action against injustice. I wonder how the tiny tinglings I felt every time I read a speech would be analogous to someone feeling their innermost wants being summoned in mass congregations being called for action. Nerve wrecking. But one does feel the power of words in every single page, atleast the ones I read.
