DISCLAIMER: We are convinced that our professional summaries will introduce more readers to the full book who otherwise would have turned a blind eye by the sheer commitment.
It's difficult to judge a summary of a book if you haven't read the book. In this case, the summary talked me out of reading the book. It saved me a good deal of time as well as the expense of buying the book. That's probably not the job of a summary. Or is it? The presentation of ideas IS the job of instructional non-fiction, but if those ideas are not new to you the book has limited value.
In essence, Manson's theme is that if you can get your mind right you might find that a good life is more achievable than a continuous search for conditions that automatically please you. Be adaptable. Manson is talking to white-collar workers, not manual laborers who hate their jobs.
Yet, getting your mind right is the most important thing you can do no matter who you are. I was already on track when I discovered Buddhist literature. That may not be everyone's course of self-help, but finding it before you are over your head in a life you never planned is vital. Keep looking.
Excellent book for showing of a person wants something better how to get it. Puts the responsibility squarely on the individual. Mr. Goggins sets the example. Sent it to my grandson.
