Love and Desire #1

Up For Debate

Rate this book
Going to meet your boyfriend’s family should be exciting.

It’s a relationship milestone most girls fawn over, but not me.

It means coming face to face with my ex that I left high and dry in the middle of the night almost six years ago.

I wouldn’t call what Lawson and I had a love story, or even a relationship.

It was tumultuous and frustrating more than it wasn’t.

His lack of respect for me and my background left me bitter and angry in the end.

Now I’m stuck facing my past, that never got any closure,

and damn it if there aren’t brief moments that I forget why I went running.

If I let him get too close I know he’ll try to burn me again

I can’t let that happen when I have Reece to lose.

The battle between the two men is a decision I face alone.

One holds my heart, the other holds it hostage.

Sometimes love hands you a choice you never wanted to make.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS

This love triangle had me hooked! I'm not sure who I would pick if I was in Farah's position because it's definitely a tough choice to make. But my heart also goes out to Reece and Lawson and the predicament they both find themselves in by loving the same woman.

I'm anticipating the next book to find out what is going to happen between Farah and the two brothers. Up For Debate by Devin Sawyer is a MUST read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!

Up for debate is a contemporary love triangle romance. I’ve read a few book with love triangle but I hardly come across a book which I love and that is because I don’t get my endgame. The guy I ship the girl with don’t usually end up together but in this book oof how much I love this book. I was so confused between the two hero’s I liked them both like they were different yet wow they gave me feels. I didn’t want the heroine to break either of their heart. Reece and Lawson were also brothers... talk about housebreaking lol

In this book you get flashbacks from Farah’s past when she was with Lawson in the university doing law. The chemistry between Lawson and Farah was fire.. my kindle was literally heated. And in the present, Farah is with Reece, Lawson’s brother and they are pretty serious having dating for three whole years. But when Farah meets Lawson after five years, things tend to get awkward and then weird and then steammmyy!!

To be honest, at some point I wish she could end up with both of them like Reece and Lawson are so adorable I can’t choose. Turn this into a reverse harem but oh my god I love how the author write this without making it sound creepy. really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend!

"The battle between the two men is a decision I face alone. One holds my heart, the other holds it hostage. Sometimes love hands you a choice you never wanted to make.”

What happens when your past and future collide splitting your heart in half;
one side beating for the one who broke you and the other for the one who made you feel whole again?

UP for Debate is a love triangle story between Farah and between two brothers, Lawson (her past) and Reese (her future). It is a story that will have you on the edge of your seat anticipating what was going to happen next.

"Why could I choose to forget, when I just remembered what it felt like?"

While it may seem that Farah had made a decision by the end of this book, I still feel we have a lot to discover; a lot that has been unsaid and a lot that is yet to be revealed. While I am leaning more towards one brother, I still don't know whether I'm rooting for Lawson or for Reese. Usually when I read a love triangle story, I immediately pick a side, but that wasn't the case here and that is a clear indication that the is a very well written story. While reading, I could feel the desperate pleas, the heartbreak and regret. I could feel the confusion, the pain, insecurities and hope. I could feel the lust, passion and love. I felt every emotion along with Lawson, Farah and Reese.

"When love hurts like this, there is no letting go."

I can't wait to read more of Farah's story in the next book and hope we don't have to wait too long.

I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not for me unfortunately

To say that I struggled with this book would be an understatement. I think my biggest problem I had with this book was that it was two brothers sparring against each other to get the girl and that it could end up with them ruining their family. I also didn’t feel connection to the female lead and that is because I was mad at her throughout the entire book, I will not be continuing with the series the unfortunate part is that I think if it had not been with two brothers I would’ve been into it. I feels though she didn’t deserve to end up being with Reece, I feel like she deserved to be left by both of them maybe I’m just cynical. I also really don’t like that when she was with Lawrence she just up and left him because of some thing his parents said I understand her reasoning for it and I understand it ultimately probably would’ve led to that. But I feel as though she should’ve talked to Lawrence before leaving him. With Reese I feel as though they had built a life together and then she suddenly decided she wasn’t happy anymore and decided to be reckless with Lawrence, I don’t like that Lawrence didn’t have more consideration for his brothers feelings in the fact that he started chasing his brother‘s girlfriend and that he then propositioned her into staying with her for five days on a conference and that they were caught. I also don’t like that Reese trusted them and they went against that they fooling around in Reece’s and Farah’s apartment, Reese is a really nice guy in my opinion and he didn’t deserve any of that if I had to pick between the two I would pick Reese but I think he can do better than her.

4.5 STARS ???!!!!11!!11!$?????

My god. How emotionally draining. I was about to drop it to four stars, until I realized it was ending on a cliffhanger of sorts. Okay, maybe not a cliffie, but there was still so much unresolved shit waiting to unravel between these three characters that I had to up my rating because the author kind of DID THAT here. I’m slayed.

I’ve been missing an actual good angsty duet/trilogy for a longggggg time now. So yeah: I NEED THE SEQUEL ASAP.

PS: one thing i’m super thankful for is that we only get Farah’s POV. none of that amateur tired multiple pov bullshit (which is a choice that immediately ruins books for me) !!

*Proper review sometime later... when I’ve stopped dry heaving. This was way too much and overwhelmed my poor lil heart.

I was hesitant to read this book because I don't normally read love triangles but I am so glad I gave this book a chance. It was everything. I am still thinking about it and I finished reading it a few days ago. I couldn't even imagine being in Farah's position, it is nearly impossible to choose between Lawson and Reece, both have their pros and cons and this novel took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as I watched the three of them navigate their unique situation. Farah said it best in the book when she said one holds her heart and the other holds her hostage, the past and future really collide in this book and honestly I wish she could choose them both. This is kind of an impossible situation and I didn't want any of the characters to have a broken heart at the end of it. I already have the second book on my kindle because I can't wait to see what happens next in Farah's story! So yes, this book does leave off on a bit of a cliffhanger and their is so much more story to tell. All I can tell you is to stop what you are doing now and one-click this book ASAP!

I really liked MOST of this story.....can't really explain without giving away any spoilers, so stop reading my review now if you don't want to see.....

I took off 1 star for the cheating. Of course that has nothing to do with the author's writing style, which I enjoyed. I just really detest cheating, and felt like the story still could have worked if it had only included emotional cheating, but knowing Farrah had been with Reece for THREE YEARS, and she was in love with him---but for her to put up so little resistance to falling back into bed with his brother made me dislike Farrah. Did I feel sorry for Lawson? Yes. Did I find him sincere? Yes. But cheating is a trigger for me (having dealt with it myself), and that alone kept me from giving 5 stars. I certainly finished reading Up For Debate, and definitely look forward to the story's continuation next year. I received a free copy of this from The Next Step PR in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is my first experience with Devin Sawyer and I enjoyed it so much!
This is a great story and this love triangle left me heartbroken. I just can’t decide which of the main characters I like more.
The narration moves so smoothly from the past to the present (something that I don’t usually like in a story) that I could enjoy every step in the road of the life of Farah, Reece and Lawson.
And even though it’s told from only one point of view we have the chance to understand every character, to feel their emotions, and that is way it would be impossible for me to choose between the two brothers.
I can’t wait to the next book to read more of Farah's story.

Gripping emotional love story! Up for Debate is one of those books you can lose yourself in.
Farah found herself in such a complicated situation that I was wondering what I would do if I were in her shoes. It’s hard to love two men. Love two brothers even harder. Each one of them wants her for himself. Farah must choose between the past and the present. How to choose not to destroy yourself?
Devin Sawyer has written an amazing story that you won’t be able to put down. I can’t wait for the next book!

HOLY ANGST, Batman!!
This love triangle just about did me in. I just.....GAH!!
I don’t know how to put into words what this story made me feel. It’s going to take me a minute.

This story was really good. Who doesn’t love a sexy politician? But then add in a sexy chef... who happens to be the politicians brother!!!! I KNOW, RIGHT!!! Read this book because it’s the only way you’ll be able to fully understand exactly all that is Farah, Lawson, and Reece. All wonderful characters imbedded into a story that is full of ALL THE FEELS.

I need more. Devin Sawyer, hurryyyyyy.

I love a good love triangle book; I don’t know what it is about them, but I just can’t get enough of them.
Farah must choose between Reece and Lawson who happen to be brothers, which makes the choice harder for her to make. I was leaning on towards one brother more then the other. There were a few times when I did go bath and forth because I couldn’t decide who I thought was a better match for Farah.
I can’t wait for the next book to see who she finally ends up with.

I will read love triangles, but I don't always care for them. This book really had me invested in the story and the choice Farah has to make. It is definitely an emotional ride that I enjoyed. I am looking forward to more from this series. Definitely worth the read, even if you are not a fan of a love triangle this story will win you over.

A enjoyable love triangle. I don't usually read live triangles if I'm honest but I did enjoy this one. I found the story a little long winded at times but overall I did like the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next one to see how the story unfolds.
