Touch screens, GPS, artificial hearts. The 21st century has birthed some amazing inventions. And yet, dating has somehow become more complicated than ever before. I have a decent life: a job I love, a new house in a great city, and a best friend who is always there for me. Now, I have two priorities left to tackle. 1. Find someone to date. 2. Confront the annoying neighbor I can’t seem to pin down. With all the twenty-first century has to offer, how hard can those things possibly be?

📚The following are my thoughts about this book: - I was drawn in from the start. I really feel for those individuals who are trying to wade through the crazies and find true love via an online app. Dating really sucks sometimes.
- Ok.....how many of you had "emergencies" worked out with your bestie in the case of a dating disaster???? Me 🙋♀️ "What’s our fake emergency text message tonight? - "Explosive menses emergency, please help and bring tampons!" 😂😂
- The one night stand seemed out of character for Brie, but with 60 pages you don’t really have time to build up to that, I guess
- with only 60 pages you can’t expect any story or character depth. So no surprise this didn’t have either.
I stumbled upon this book while looking for a book to complete a reading challenge. And it was a cute little afternoon treat. Especially considering it was a freebie.
Quite the tandem we got here. Brie and Jake met on an online dating app which proved to be both entertaining and disastrous, at least on Brie's part. Until she met the perfect one. Or so she thought.. I had short yet sweet and sexy tome reading this Mika Jolie story and as per usual, she always manage to get me smiling all throughout the day.
This was a fun and easy read. It was predictable in some parts, but there were some great moments and it was a perfect novella to fill in the time/gap between reading larger books. Look forward to reading more from this author.
Thos was my first book by Mika and it was a lot of fun!
A short sweet, hot and steamy romance with humor thrown it. A first date filled with a comedy of errors and misunderstandings, I couldn't help but laugh.
A short novel where our protagonist Brie (new to Austin, Texas) tries out a plethora of online dating app to get over her recent break up. A best friend spewing advice on how to get over your ex and meet your next beau using these popular tools is mentioned several times but we never meet her on the page.
Several dates, each worse than the previous one, will she meet someone intriguing?
It can easily be guessed where the story goes from there.
Overall, a fun little break from all the fantasy I've been reading during quarantine but not very memorable and something I'd reread or read a second part of.
Pop Sugar Challenge 2020: book involving social media
Another freebie and another surprise - it was much better than I thought. Definitely more of a novella feel: short and sweet and spans pretty much a day. The characters were entertaining it’s left up to you to invent their ending. One thing I would change is actually having a black woman on the cover because it kinda reads like Brie is black, in my opinion. So do the justice for the main character on the book cover!
Super cute quick read. One can dream for an incredible online date like that! *sigh*. I'd be happy to read more on Brie and Jake. They're funny and sexy together. Definitely want more.
Pretty good short story but the heroine was very petty and childish in her behavior, but it was written as essential to the plot. It just didn't make me feel sympathetic towards her. It didn't strike me as funny and there was no laughing out loud for me. Some was just illogical. Who says “We just met,” I I like Jake, but I don’t want us to rush things either. “Shouldn't’t we take it, um, slow?”---after you just slept with him?
Hilarious, romantic, laugh-out-loud fun read! It was good to the last page! It's not every day that you find short books with fully developed characters and enough depth to make you feel like you are reading a full-length romance novel. Online Dating is one of those books. It had all that and much more -with a HEA and no cliffhangers. I read it in one sitting, because it was so good, I was cracking up and eager to see how it ended.
Brie thought she had everything that she wanted in her life except for a guy to go out on dates with. So she figured she would try her hands with online dating.
This story is told from Brie’s POV. It's funny suspenseful and angsty. I liked Brie from the moment I read the first page and as she navigated her way though the online dating app l fell in love with her sassy personality. Loved her so much I had no choice but to add her to my list of Top 5 most-favorite heroines.
I would definitely recommend Online Dating. It's a must-read! Thank you Mika Jolie!
This wasn't a book or a novella, not even a short story. It's a one night stand between two neighbors, Jake and Bryanna. He's White and she's Black which had no effect on the story. They've never met but she's mad at him because she thought he blocked her driveway preventing her garbage from being picked up. The next day he had blown grass clippings on her lawn. They meet on line and decide to meet in person. They hit it off and fall in lust.
Even after discovering that they are neighbors, and pays him back for the grass clippings on her lawn, they have a one night stand. After sex that was incredible for both, there's another misunderstanding. She prepares to leave but the misunderstanding is cleared up and they decide to date.
Will a relationship develop or will they become the neighbors from hell? Will their interracial status cause problems for them? Is there a novel coming that will answer those questions? If so, I'll one-click it.
•What did I think of this book? Great short read! Could be a series because I bet there's mound of bad dates and hookups 🤣 this had the upside and downs of online dating. It's just ironic the one guy that catches her interest is also her hellish new neighbor.. 😳 . •Thoughts & Quotes: ~ 'I must be part squirrel; I attract all the nuts.' -p.4
~ 'The question is, can online dating lead to a soulmate? Is he hanging out there somewhere on the interwebs?' -p.12
~'“Your profile mantra is Captain America is greater than Thor.” -p.17
Online Dating by Mika Jolie is a delightful and lighthearted read that is perfect for anyone seeking a romantic and hopeful tale of self-discovery, friendship, and the quest for love in the modern age, with a dash of humor and wit.
I read this book on my Kindle. This was a fun, quick read that I finished reading in less than an hour last night. I enjoyed this book. I laughed at certain parts of this story but the funniest part of this was the grass clippings and the smelly trash.
I didn't realize this was going to be a short story, so I was disappointed in hiw quick of a read it was. I will say, it was an easy and fun read. While there wasn't a lot of time for character development, I don't think it needed it. It was a quick read that kept me interested and looking for more.
This novella is written in first person from Brie's POV. It has humor and heat as it follows Brie's adventures in online dating. Once she thinks she meets the perfect guy, she feels things are looking up. There are some humorous surprises in store on the way to their HEA. I enjoyed this quick read very much.
This was a cute and sweet story. It is a departure from Mika's usual stories. It's a short story that made me want more. Nevertheless, I have always been a Fan and will read anything she writes. This writer is always a one-click for me.
Jolie's books always tell the best story around that man you love to hate, but just can't stop yourself. This was a great read, but too short. We didn't even get to meet Jake's dog.
I liked both characters in this story. I thought because it was called Online Dating, that she would go on more dates and that they would be a little more detailed. I was ready to read some hilarious dating experiences.
Yeah, on-line dating we have all been there and got tales to tell. I can totally relate to the dating experiences with in this novel. Would of loved more of an ending though, or an epilogue so we can see what happens between Brie and Jake.
Cute short read about a woman whom tries online dating. Her dates have not been second date worthy and just as she's about to deactivate her profile she receives a match. Could this be her one & done.
Cute, funny, and relatable. Contemporary rom com at it's best. Nice with a short one for a change. Don't get me wrong, I love the usual 350 page books, but short once are nice once in a while.
Not sure if book is interracial As very little description given. The name of heroine does not sound black, though he spelling of the name with a 'y' may be a clue. Not a terrible read, though they jumped into bed too quickly for my liking.
She’s just trying to find a date through an app and just moved to a new place. She has a neighbor that has been a jerk or so she thinks. Story has some funny moments to it.. nice and short if you’re into that kind of reading.
This was good and quick read. Liked the storyline. Dating I imagine can be pretty hard. I wish it were a little longer. I will read something else by this author.
