For Rumor Gellar, being the most popular girl in school is never something she desired, but she embraces it, wearing it like a badge of honor to inspire those around her. That, however, is all threatened when then new girl arrives. Determined to take Rumor’s place, the deceitful Jessica Handy plays her games, weaves her web, and starts a nasty rumor that triggers a chain reaction with severe consequences. Rumor, defeated and bruised, has no choice but to dig deep within herself to find the courage to stand tall and face, head on, what’s coming next. She might be down, but she is definitely not out!
DeAnna Kinney is what you could call an eclectic writer at its best. If she can dream it, she can write it. Her main focus is YA Paranormal but also writes New Adult and Adult Romance, Action Adventure, Children's books, and even an Apocalyptic Christian Thriller Romance. She considers herself as fun-loving and a bit peculiar. Besides writing, she loves reading, all things purple, Star Wars, acting like a goofball with all of her friends, and dancing while she cooks (she can see her kids rolling their eyes as we speak). She believes whole-heartedly that chocolates and a good book go hand in hand. And, having experienced it herself, believes utterly in the power of true love. She lives in the lovely North Carolina with her husband, four kids, and a dog named Link (aka Monster).
She is very hands-on with her fans and thrives on their interaction.
Her upcoming works include:
*Maybe something about Zombies, Bullying, and perhaps the end of the world, although not necessarily in that order.
Rumor's Out!: A High School Bully Romance by DeAnna Kinney this is a wonderful story writen by a brand new author for me to read and I loved it very much. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about suspense and sweet romances in their stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A decent Y/A book based on the trials one girl faces at the hands of a bully that comes with a sweet teenage romance. Enjoyable and refreshingly clean with believable characters. -To The Author- You have a good grasp on your audience.
If you are looking for a bully story but one without the darkness that is in most of the bullymances, then Rumor's Out by DeAnna Kinney is the read for you as this is a YA focused bully read. It starts with our main character Rumor named after Bruce Willis's daughter as her mum is a fan of Bruce Willis. Rumor is dating the QB and the popular Queen Bee of the school, she has a good set of friends and life is looking up for her. What I loved about Rumor is she was one who was thrust into the Queen Bee role, she wasn't bitchy or a mean girl. All is going well until a new girl starts the school Jessica and she wants Rumor's Queen Bee status and will do everything in her power to alienate and ruin Rumor. As we read the book, it's like Jessica wants Rumour's life in all aspects of boyfriends and friends. As Jessica starts to take Rumor's friends and life, we read as Rumour finds new friendships with Sam and Faith- the nerds and in doing so she will learn what it is like to have "real friends" and people who care for her. I have to admit I did want more of the reasoning behind why Jessica was the way she was and wanted Rumor out but we didn't see it in this book. Overall, though if you are wanting a Mean Girl Bully YA read, then check out DeAnna Kinney's Rumor's Out - which by all means was very tame compared to the majority of bully stories I have read and reviewed.
I liked the sound of the story line but was really disappointed as the story was really rushed, there was no suspense, the friends seemed to accept things too easily and considering these are kids about to graduate, they seemed really childish. Very disappointed
