BOOK 3 of my 2023 Valentine reading rush where I read romance books with men on the cover and a color of the rainbow.

featured color: indigo

The premise is very common. A 21-year-old librarian gets kidnapped by a fae king in an attempt to kill her. Something with prophecies or something. But along the way, they turn out to be fated mates. Tbh, I was a bit confused when I read this because only after I read the whole thing did I discover it was a serial novella. Good thing it was short.

So in this volume, the hero and the heroine had fallen in love but had a falling out because the hero was engaged to another fae. A little bit of a second chance romance, but the main focus of the story was their quest to capture and defeat the evil queen who had escaped together with another traitor fae. The heroine was also in constant danger, and finding out who was behind all of it made the book more interesting.

The fight scenes were fine, and I must say that twist in the ending caught me off-guard. Well to be fair, I really had no idea about its status quo in the first 3 volumes. All in all pretty standard.

This is an exciting series, and although I thought this might be the end, there’s one more to go. Yay! Naturally, it ends on a cliffhanger. Boo.

Kip maintains her signature sense of humor with statements like this one, when faced with a formidable foe: “Panicked, my mind raced, thinking about all the weapons and potions I’d stored in my pockets and suddenly I wished I could fit both Stryder and me inside of one.” When reading a fantasy with fearless heroes, it’s nice to be reminded that they are just as fearful as I would be, that the first thought is not always confrontation. Sometimes they want to hide too.

Stryder would not be such a great match for Kip if he didn’t have at least some bit of humor. His was demonstrated when the two of them were hiding, hoping to avoid detection, and he slowed his breathing because he had done this in the past. He observed that “Kip, on the other hand, sounded like she was trying to breathe for the both of us.”

There are some unexpected villains in this episode, and one is quite scary. In fact, the description was enough to have me shaking in fear. There’s also a description of the Sword of Justice which was so diabolical that I shook my head in admiration for the imagination it took to come up with that.

Needless to say, I recommend this book (and the rest in the series). I can’t wait for the final installment!

I LOVE this series but that cliffhanger of an ending is KILLING ME!!! Especially with what Kip was called....I mean come on now!!! I have issues with patience and this is REALLY gonna keep me on edge!!!!

So, we find Kip giving the King the silent treatment in the beginning of the book, for 2 months. Don't blame her, I mean he took her from her realm, drug her into unfamiliar territory, had her fight things she had NEVER seen before get into politics she had NEVER heard of before and THEN she finds out that he's ENGAGED TO SOMEONE ELSE even though she's his fated mate.....he could have told her but for being a fearless leader he had NO GUTS when it came to her so as a redhead with a fire temper, guess he is learning that lesson well.

As the story progresses they learn more then a few things that draw them back together, AND continue the adventure and heartache although Stryder is the one that learns just how bad heartache and betrayal hurt this time around. Kip tends to show just how well she can manage the political aspect of the kingdom and how she can handle some of the decisions as well. She is very helpful as a second opinion (in my opinion)

They find a new creature to battle and there is a revelation or two about Kip....and a MEGA cliffhanger....UHG!!!!! Can't wait for the next book!!!

⭐️ 4 ⭐️

• Book 4/5 complete! Again from start to finish the story continued from the cliffhanger on the last book. It fast forwards to 2 months later after the ending “drama” & how everyone is dealing!
• Similar to the last book this story had a lot of action that entertained the heck out of me! My favorite part was that there was an introduction of a dragon to the story which made everything that much more exciting 👏🏽. At the end of the book there was a twist I wasn’t expecting and makes me anxious about the last and final book!
• Although the two main characters have yet to “consummate” their “mating bond” there’s still plenty of 🌶️ 🔥 scenes in this book! I feel like the last book is going to be the one where it finally happens! 🤣

Oh boy oh boy..This story gets better and better! They need to find the Queen that escaped before she brings war back to the Blood Court. But first they need to keep Kip alive!. Traitors are everywhere and need to be taken care of. Stryker also has some stuff to make up for! Ok this is not the last book in the series! But it's darn good! Definitely read the other one's first so you can understand everything! Bring on the next!

Ava Mason has once again kept me on my toes...and once again holy cliffhanger! I love how much Kip is becoming more with each book and yes I completely support her silent treatment. She handles everything thrown at her with realistic fear and funny AF one liners. I love that there is a fifth book in the series and cannot wait to read the conclusion to this thrilling series by the ultra talented Ava Mason.

Ava never seems to disappoint. Each book is better that the last. Lots of action and of course some surprises. I really like Kit and feel for her and Stryder. They never run out of bad guys and they have to find the escaped Queen while dealing with betrayals and twists. Love this action and I am now use to the cliffhangers from this author. Loved it!! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc.

XXX! Adult content, reader discretion advised. Engaged?!? Stryder all but kidnapped Kip and Harley to his kingdom in Fairy. Claimed Kip was his fated mate. Then forgot to mention the small detail that he was engaged to Liaden. Opps, might not cover it. As if that is not enough drama, Queen Ajeka and Lorcan are both still MIA. Looking forward to King of Glass.

Got to read!!!!

4th book in a series of 5. So far all four books have kept the nail biting at the edged of the chair going. Imagination, battles, soul filled love, ideas of what pertains to and mattered in life fill this series to the nth degree. Can’t wait to read the final book....wait! If this next one is the last one....horrors! What do I do next!

Fantastic!

So far this is my favorite book in the series. I think because we finally see Lip come into her own or maybe because Stryder realizes a few things. Can't wait for the conclusion of the story. Highly recommend this series!

“Finding you was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I would die if something happened to you.”

Ok so I’m totally loving this series, and slowly but surely, we’re beginning to get a peak at Kip’s heritage. Oh and omg can I please have a dragon 🐉 like Kip’s dragon buddy?! So they find out about the traitors in their midst, the assholes poison Kip but Stryder saves the day with his healer. Once they find out where the queen bitch is they take off through a portal and find out the whole enemy tactic thing was all planned by Lorcan (a 3 headed demon) 😈😈😈yep you read that correctly. Lorcan sorta mentions while attacking her with undead skeletons everywhere that she’s an Aisling Orphan Fae…whaaaatt?!🤔🤯😱thennnn after being swiped pretty bad by Lorcan’s sword 🗡️ Stryder can’t use any of his magic now. 🪄 then alas, the ever persistent cliffhanger appears again 😆🙄🤣so now I’m onto book #5 ha lol yay I’m finally on the last book of the series with hopefully some much needed answers, and an amazing HEA for Kip & Stryder. Ava I’m counting on you! 😂

I need to know from all of you now this is a place you go of your own free will. That you are choosing to fight with me, perhaps to death, to rid the world of the Summer Queen."

"Aye. I'm due for a good fight," Stroman said, his voice booming over the rest of them. He smiled and nudged Liadan.

“I'll go anywhere with you, love," Liadan said to him, and then turned and nodded at me. She drew in a deep breath, and her arms unfolded before her, her body glowing and radiating an energy that not only could be molded by her for the purpose of attack, but could protect those around her as well.

“To the end of the realm and beyond, I will follow my King," Roane said and gave a salute. I responded by saluting him back.

To my surprise, Harley snapped off a salute too. "To the end of the realm and beyond, Stryder," she said. I smiled at the familiarity she spoke with.

I wasn't her King, not yet, but this was more meaningful from her. She spoke of following me not as a leader, but as a friend. I saluted her back and turned to Kip.

“Me? Nah. I'll stay here, maybe do some gardening. Maybe get some pumpkins growing so they’ll be ready for Halloween," she said, then grabbed me around my waist to bury her face into my chest. I kissed the top of her head and looked over my group once more.

"Not sure if you noticed, but the tide is coming in and it’s full of skulls. Anyone reckon why?" Harley asked.

“Do you really want an answer?" I asked.

"No. I think I know, I just wanted someone to give me an explanation other than 'creepy haunted moat full of monster skeleton people.'"

“Stryder, I need to be there. I don’t know why, but something is pulling me there. And maybe it’s a trap, but I know that together we can beat her.” There was something inside of me, something that had been lit by the battle with the Queen inside the Heart, and now burned like a funeral pyre inside of me. The old Kip who feared life was gone, and I stood in her place with her memories and a desire to take action.

How the hell were we supposed to kill that? Panicked, my mind raced, thinking about all the weapons and potions I’d stored in my pockets and suddenly wished I could fit both Stryder and me inside one.

The dragon landed with a terrifying grace on the cobblestones. He looked over at us, his nose exhaling thick tendrils of black smoke, his mouth a sea of black with sharp white teeth.

His eyes met mine, and words formed in my mind. It was a language I did not know, but somehow understood. An ancient language which came into my mind like broken English. It was a language from before nuance, from when the gods roamed and the magic was new.

“I help," it said.

I hopped up on the lowered wing and climbed onto its back. Stryder mounted it behind me, pushing me forward and down onto the leathery scales of the dragon's back so he could protect me and hold on to it at the same time. "How do we get him to fly?" he asked, but I already knew. I just needed to ask him.

fae dragons magic lovers.

This has been the best series. All the books could have been put into two book. I feel that would have been better. I love the banter between Stryder and Kip. The sexual tension between them was great from the beginning.
I would recommend these book.

This series keeps getting better and better. I’m sad there is only one more book, but I can’t wait for it either. I couldn’t put this book down and then it ended in a cliff hanger and I might of screamed a little just because it’s so good and I want to know what’s going to happen next. I had a feeling Kip wasn’t just a normal human but now we have to wait for the last book to know just what she is.

I received an ARC of this book.

As book four out of five in the series, King of Bones answered many questions that have come up so far. I enjoyed the action and the way the plot moved forward in this book. I am looking forward to the next and final installment in this series. Oh, and thank you Ava Mason, for yet another cliffhanger of doom.

Can't and won't wait

I will probably forget this whole story by the time Dec. comes. I didn't know there was another book coming out to finish the story. I am very disappointed by this. As it is, done. The story itself was good.
