I like very much of what I read in this book by a guy who named himself as one of the chart type - Heikin Ashi, a trader who trades in various European markets. Some very unique and interesting viewpoints from his writing and I strongly feel he's a real and veteran trader, with certain charms. He explained his strategy and trading style from somewhat a contrarian perspective to the market. I learned a lot from the writer even though it might be hard for an average investor to mimic what he did for building his wealth from commodity, currency and bond, markets which often require margin to trade and in large quantities. Heikin's method of scaling in and scaling out of the market is particularly valuable and eye-opening for me, breaking apart the old-school thought of downward cost-averaging of the trades.
Drawing from the experience of the great trading master Jesse Livermore, Heikin shared his success from speculating the cotton, ruble and Turkish lira, emphasizing on exercising patience and speculation in the markets. While analyzing the markets from a very global macro views, a trade should not be influenced by the view of others, not the least to share your trades with others. For stocks, he suggested to trade the current market leaders because of the likelihood of a trend turning is much smaller. Overall, a lot of practical advises to be had in this one small book. The book is not too technical but comes with enough depth of understanding the markets from the author's viewpoint.
