She hates me… almost as much as she wants me.
I have everything I should want. Only the thrill is gone. My days are grey.
Until I meet Meg. The inexperienced college student is a breath of fresh air. Sassy, s*xy, completely unimpressed by me. She hates my cocky grin. She huffs at my one-liners. And when she asks if I have some place better to put my mouth…
I make her an offer. Her place, my place, any place, as long as I can make her groan all night long. I'm as surprised as she is when she says yes. Who would have guessed that booksmart, guarded, gorgeous as all hell Meg would want me to be her first?
We keep it simple. Three rules to protect both of us.
No feelings, no secrets, no falling in love.
But some things are easier said than done.

It was decent, but I just didn't like the main female character. I wasn't that invested in the two characters relationship as much and found myself skipping the pages just to get to the end.

This is the first book from this author that I have read and it won’t be my last. This is Miles’ pov of the book Sing Your Heart Out. You don’t need to read that book to enjoy this book. You are able to see what he is really thinking and see why he is the way that he is. I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between them was hot. They were such a great couple. I loved watching them work through their issues and start to heal with the help from each other. I am going to go back and read Sing Your Heart Out just so I can have the full experience and then I am going to read more of her work.

Just a Taste by Crystal Kaswell is the story of Meg and Miles.
Miles and Meg are both dealing with a lot of hurt but they are doing it differently. There is something that they both know is that they are attracted to each other. When they decide to give into their attraction they go with the rules that they will keep no secrets, not fall in love nor have feelings that might lead to more. But of course nothing ever goes as plan and these two start to heal each other.
Enjoyed their story.

This was a good read. I had never read Sing Your Heart so this was all new to me. Miles is a rock star and he meets Me whom is a student. They both decide to just be friend who have sex. Of course this becomes so much more. However, they have issues to deal with first. Thankfully by the end it all gets worked and out they get their happy ending.

Miles meets sassy, smart, med student Meg Smart and immediately wants her. He offers to take her virginity but Miles doesn't do relationships. He's lost too many of the people that he loved and won't let that happen again. They enter into a friend's with benefits arrangement and he is determined to not let it become more.
I love Miles Webb as the broken bad boy rockstar. This book has a lot of his point of view and I really liked seeing how much he was falling for Meg and fighting it. I loved that Meg never put up with Miles' bullshit and how much she grew as a character in the book.

I read about 20% before I decided this wasn't for me. It wasn't gearing for an interesting romance at all. The writing was very dialogue focused, there was very little setting and hardly any exposition. The writing was a bit repetitive and very staccato. I just was not interested in spending any more time reading this.

Good girl Meg (Megara) doesn't seem like the type to make a good fit for bad boy rockstar Miles. But when she tells him off and doesn't fall for his bs, he's hooked. Can he convince her a friends with benefits arrangement is something she should indulge in with him? Or will his lifestyle be a little much for the pre-med student?

I loved this story when I first read it from Meg's POV in Sing Your Heart Out, and reading it here from Miles' POV is even better. As far as rockstars go, Miles is really the perfect archetype - he's cocky, he's a manwhore, he's damaged, and he's battling an addiction. Could he be more cliché? Except he's not. He's actually quite interesting and substantial once Meg is able to scale past his outer douche layer. That's one of the things I love most about this story - that on the surface it is seemingly all very shallow and unoriginal. But Miles is much deeper than the average tortured rockstar, and Meg is the woman who sees beneath that flash and into the heart he tries to protect. I'm so glad that after all these years, Crystal finally decided to give us Miles' side of the story. It's just as sexy and emotional as Meg's POV, and the story hasn't lost any of its awesomeness this time around.

I didn't think I could love Miles even MORE!!

Mostly from Miles POV, this book was everything I wanted!! Can be read as a standalone. It is the male hero from Crytal's Sing Your Heart Out, but you don't need to have read that or any of the other books in the Sinful Serenade series to enjoy this one. But on another note, can we have all the other guys' POV next?

Miles is the lead singer of hot rock band, Sinful Serenade. He is prickly, cocky, king of a snarky jerk. But...I loved seeing into his tortured mind. He's deliciously angsty, grouchy, unsure, confused, nerdy, sexy, dominating, protective, comforting, human. He's confident when he's performing or seducing some willing woman to escape the emptiness he feels inside. But as more than a groupie magnet? He is lost. He thinks he has nothing to offer. He tends to irritate, amuse, and worry his fellow bandmates. He is trying to keep himself from going off the rails.

And then he meets Meg in the most embarrassing (for her) meet cute (although cute is not really the word for it). He finds her apparent innocence irresistible, even if he doesn't initially buy it. After all, women throw themselves at him. He doesn't quite know how to feel or react to one who wants HIM not the rockstar.

Meg has her own misery. She is trying to keep it together and get through school (she's pre-med) because she has recently lost her sister. Miles sings the songs that speak to her pain.

He does not want to hurt her. He wants to soothe her pain. He wants to fulfill her needs. But he does not want them to catch feelings. And neither does she. He doesn't realize he's too late. They both are in far deeper than either of them planned. They fill one another's empty spaces. He's her roguish Han and she's his sexy, feisty Leia. He definitely has his nerf herder moments.

Two broken and grieving people find each other..........can they heal and have a HEA?

Just a Taste is a well written book that I enjoyed reading. The story is about Miles, a bad boy rock star who has more than a few issue which include the inability to commit to a single relationship. He is talented and sexy, so the women love to throw themselves at him, but yet he still wants to have that "one" person.
Megara (aka Meg) is a sweet and lovely college student who is grieving the death of her sister. She is also still an innocent virgin.
One night they meet at a Sinful Serenade party when she walks in one him and another woman as she was looking for the bathroom. Miles is attracted to her and thinks she is up for some fun with him, but he is in for a surprise. When Meg realizes that the friend she had some with is to drunk to drive and Meg cannot drive a stick shift Miles offers to drive them home. Along the way things start to get a little fun as these two have a real attraction to each other. But nothing happens that night except for the exchange of digits. They do stay in touch and things start to progress from there into a possible friends with benefits relationship with some rules, as each says they are not looking for a relationship. But what happens when the rules are broken before they even start? Plus add in a whole host of other things including their need for the other to help them heal.

As I had not read Sing Your Heart Out, which is the same story but Just a Taste is told from Miles' POV, I did not know the story-line or characters already. I found this to be a really nice read with two broken people trying to cope the best they can day to day in good and also destructive ways. But when they finally find each other they cling on and form a bond that will help them both heal their past trauma and lose.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Just A Taste is a well written novel about finding that perfect for you someone even when you proclaim love just isn’t possible. It is about two beautifully broken people who find a connection even when the agreement is “no feelings, no secrets, and no falling in love”. What could possible go wrong with that type of arrangement?!

I absolutely fell in love with Miles. He presents himself as the arrogant playboy with a calm and carefree exterior, but I love how he has that hidden, vulnerable side to him. I always love a hero who has many layers to him. Miles pours his heart and soul into his lyrics and it is these lyrics that bring solace to Meg as she tries to navigate through a difficult time in her life. Can I just take a moment to say that I appreciate how the author incorporates his lyrics throughout the book? Meg is a likable, strong heroine. My heart broke for her many times over and I really enjoyed how she was able to see past the facade the Miles presents to the world and really see him as a person and not the rockstar. The two of them together are dynamite with some sizzling scenes that are sure to melt your kindle. In addition to the romance between Meg and Miles, I enjoyed the dynamic between the other band members.

Just A Taste is a standalone novel in this author’s Sinful Serenade series. It contains mostly new material that was not seen in Sing Your Heart Out. This book was an entertaining read that put me through all of the feels. It has inspired me to go back and re-read the entire series as this author’s books are so well written with engaging storylines; likable, well-developed characters; and of course, rockstars!

I received an early complimentary version of this book.

I read an advanced copy for an honest review.
This is a rewrite of "Sing you Heart Out".
It is most from Miles' point of view.
There is some of Meg's point of view interspersed in the book too.
I was a bit disappointed, because I was hoping that since this book was mostly from Miles' perspective, we would learn new insights about what made him tick. I found that I really didn't learn anything new from the character at all.
It was pleasent to go down memory lane and visit these bad boy rockers, but it only emphasized what male sluts they were. I said to my husband,"If they felt like were being used by these women as a 'knotch in their belts' sleeping with the rock star, what was the point in having sex with them?" My husband quoted Woody Allen, who once said, "Sex with out love is a meaningless experience, but as far as experiences go, it's pretty damn good." That the guys must have figured sex was sex. It felt meaningless, but felt good anyway.
I'm not sure if this book was really nessesary, but I appreciate the author trying.

★ Solo to her Leia ★

—>>> Longing to be a hero, but feeling unworthy of her, Miles finds himself drawn to this prickly, sassy girl who wants nothing to do with him. But there is something buried deep in him which speaks to the pain in her, evident in his songs, if anyone cared to decipher his words, and THAT she cannot deny, though their instant chemistry does not hurt either. It will become a definite struggle for Miles to keep her at arms length and to not care, to remain just “friends with benefits,” and he just cannot seem to stay away, moved to even pen words with her as his muse. This is a journey of digging through the pain in Mile’s past, taking it down brick by brick, until what they have left is their very real selves, and their hearts given to each other on platters.

This book is a standalone but is part of the Sinful Serenade Series so some of the characters are interconnected. This was a great book and I found it hard to put down once I started reading. Miles and Meg were enemies of sort and both were nursing wounded hearts. He was a band vocalist and she was an innocent college student. They definitely took me on an emotional roller coaster. This book is not for the faint at heart. It was quite a journey as they each healed their grieving hearts. Strong well-developed characters and an amazing storyline. Sing your heart out was the first Rockstar romance book i had read and it has started my love affair with the theme (i mean who doesn't love a rockstar???) I was so excited when i saw that Crystal was releasing another version of this book but told mainly from Miles POV. It was great to get a better insight to his tortured soul and learn what more of what goes on inside his head. Now that ive been reacquainted with the Sinful Serenade guys I want to re read the entire series!
I enjoyed the book but not as much as Sing Your Heart Out because I felt alot of it was what I already knew. I would still recommend anyone who is a fan of the Sinful Serenade books to read it

Sing Your Heart Out was the first rockstar romance I ever read and it had me hooked. I loved reading Just A Taste from the perspective of Miles and appreciated that Meg’s point of view from the original book was also included. The background on Miles and what he was going through internally made me love him even more and gave the initial story so much more depth. This also gave me a new perspective on Tom that has made me want to read his book all over again. All in all, I couldn’t put it down!

I love broken rock stars and I love strong women and I loved Just a Taste!! Crystal Kaswell writes the best broken men who need good women!! I loved watching Miles fall in love and care of Meg when she didn’t know she needed someone to care for her! This rockstar are simply sweet man.... even when he don't want to be. Just a Taste takes us in Miles POV with some of Meg’s. I love how this story develops, how they have incredible chemistry, how they just want to be friends- yet they get to happily ever after!! Another great Crystal Kaswell book!

Miles has my heart

Who knew I could love Miles more? What's better than a brooding, playboy rockstar? He's got a reputation, but this book gives us his perspective and we get to see so much more than what's on the surface! I loved reading the journey of how the relationship between him and Meg progresses. What does a rockstar do when presented with a shy, innocent virgin on his shrine? This book gives us all the flirty, swoony, yummy details.

This was a refreshing take on rock star romances. We typically don’t get a very deep look into the true feelings of the rock star hero, even in dual POV books. Crystal broke that mold with Just a Taste, giving us a lot of time to get to know Miles and see the vulnerable man beneath the rock star surface. It’s always nice, too, to see a heroine who is smart and values school with a man who supports that and respects the time she devotes to her education. Overall, this was a great read!

I recieved this as an arc and this is my honest opinion

I have to say I wasn't sure if I would like this as much as Sing Your Heart Out but I was proven wrong.
Crystal has done it again with another brilliant book. I love it from the prospective of Miles and I still love the story of Miles and Meg.
I would quite happily read this again and again and would recommend others to read it.

Just a Taste is in Miles POV and it has all the angst you would expect from a male rocker falling in love. Sing Your Heart Out it was in Meg's POV only, this book we get to see Miles real feelings instead of his aloofness. Male pov books are my favorite and Just a Taste doesnt dissapoint. Definite Must Read!

Miles and Meg tend to be a tad rough around the edges but therein lies their appeal. Just a Taste finds it's humor in spicy innuendo, heartwarming dialogue and irresistible characters. Kaswell gives perfection a a stylish face-lift with a hint of charm to balance out the harsh moments.

Just a Taste is an enjoyable New Adult romance that retells the story of Crystal Kaswell’s Sing Your Heart Out through the perspective of male lead Miles Webb in another highly entertaining novel!

Miles Webb has everything he could ever want---money, fame and women throwing themselves at him left, right and centre. Only the thrill is gone, and Miles spends his days waiting for something to wake him up. Then he meets Meg. The inexperienced collage student is a breath of fresh air. She’s sassy, sexy and completely unimpressed by his one-liners. There’s something about her innocence that calls to him, as does her refusal to fall at his feet, even as it becomes abundantly clear that she’s as attracted to him as he is her. Being her first is an honour Miles can’t resist; as long as they stick to the rules. No feelings, no secrets and absolutely no falling in love. Unfortunately, Meg seems to see past the rock star to the man inside and with more time that passes the harder Miles finds it to stick to his own rules. Telling Meg the truth about his past could see him loose her forever, but with his own feelings as messed up as they couple will Miles take a chance on the woman who finally has his long dead heart finally waking up……

Just a Taste allows readers to revisit the Sinful Serenade world with the events of the first novel now being told through the perspective Miles for the first time! Personally, I’m a fan of dual perspective in most romance novels so I jumped at the chance to get inside Miles head in Just a Taste. It was thoroughly entertaining to see his thoughts and feelings on the interactions shared by he and Meg in Sing Your Heart Out. I admit I felt a little cheated as there were some chapters still from Meg’s perspective and I thought they were some really pinnacle moments in the story that would have been brilliant seeing through Miles eyes----the first time they were intimate for example and Miles getting Meg’s name tattooed on himself---but I still enjoyed the story that Crystal Kaswell wrote in Just a Taste.

Miles was very much the tortured hero in Just a Taste and I enjoyed seeing through his eyes. The depth of his attraction and feelings for Meg were a lot stronger and faster to develop that Kaswell first let on in the original novel. I loved seeing the confliction in him and how hard he struggled with what he told Meg their relationship would be and what he began to feel as soon as they began spending time together. Meg was never just a friend with benefits to Miles, he cared about her on a deeper level from the moment they met and I thought it was sweet seeing this first hand.

Sexy and sassy, Just A Taste was a great retelling of Crystal Kaswell’s Sing Your Heart Out and was a lovely read for fans of the Sinful Serenade series would wanted a bit more of the characters they love and the story they adored.

This was one sexy story!

Meg was strong, she had to be after the loss of her sister to a drug overdose. She wasn’t looking for love, didn’t think her heart could handle any more breakage. But she did open herself up to Miles slowly, even if she didn’t mean to.

Miles was so broody and depressed. He lost a family member to cancer and was a recovering addict. He had his heart broken repeatedly as a child and it made him shut himself off to the possibility of love. He was really broken. He could only express his emotions through song writing and through sex.

What I liked about the story?
Miles writing a song for Meg. So sweet. So romantic.

Both Meg and Miles breaking down their walls and forming a relationship neither thought they wanted or needed.

What didn’t I like about this story?
Miles was so broken and could never love anyone or be the man Meg needed him to be and then all of a sudden he’s tattooing her name on his chest and announcing he loves her to the whole world. What a complete turnaround in like no time flat. He didn’t even need therapy or anything? Just like “I’m so broken. Oh wait, I’m better now”. It just seemed too quick.

Also, sometimes the conversation between Meg and Miles was just awkward. They would break off in the middle of saying something, or just speak really weirdly. Even the conversations between Miles and his band mates, just very awkward and weird. Sometimes I wasn’t even sure who was saying what.

That being said, I still enjoyed the story. Two broken people working their shit out and realizing how good they are together. Nothing wrong with a story like that!
