It's Complicated #2

Her Summer Cowboys

Rate this book

Her summer of raw emotion and unbridled passion...

Bliss Camden didn’t know what she was signing up for when the employment agency sent her to the Wylder Colt Ranch as a live-in housekeeper for best friends and ranch owners, Levi Colt and Wylder Madison. The two rough, ready, and wild cowboys make her feel things she’s never felt before...things she shouldn’t feel about her employers. Wicked things.

Things they want to teach her all about.

It’s wrong. It’s primal. It’s delicious.

She’s not experienced enough to deal with one dominating cowboy, much less two. Besides, they’d never look twice at a frumpy wallflower like her...would they?

Author Confession: I see you, reader. I know what you want. Alphamallow heroes and awkward, nerdy heroines. It’s a ranch, so there might be roping, riding, and wrangling. Ahem. And the swords. They touch.

Brill Harper is a pseudonym. Like…a secret identity. By day she’s Clark Kent, writing romance books for young adults and grownups. By night, she’s Brill Harper writing unfailingly filthy, yet super sweet books, that would make her alter ego blush.

She especially likes to writes book about quirky, awkward heroines and alpha bad boys. Well, except that they are really alphamallows once they fall in love. Seriously--these heroes only have one weakness, and it's sticky, sweet love. They don't let anything stand in the way of taking what belongs to them. Ooey-gooey marshmallow hearts in big, burly dominating dudes. What's not to love about that?

Brill's books are filthy/sweet for when you're in the mood for something a little over the top. Okay, a lot over the top. Sorry, not sorry.

A cute and steamy MMF romance between two cowboy ranch owners and their new college-aged summer job housekeeper. I didn’t love it as much as the first book in the series (All Together), probably because this was so much shorter and a few emotional shortcuts were taken, but it was still a great palate cleanser. I’m a big fan of Brill Harper’s alphamallow MMCs, and the FMC here was particularly likeable. She was very attracted to the MMCs from the start and could not keep her cool at all.

I just didn't love this one as much as the first one in the series. Maybe it was because this one was so much shorter and I didn't feel like the relationship was as developed as the one in Altogether.

1🌟:Hate IT! Didn't finish; usually only given if/when some contents truly objectionable (i.e. main characters does something awful & gets away w/it!)
2🌟:Don't like IT! Rating means I felt the writing was poor, editing was bad, I don't care for characters, or book had some major flaw.
3🌟: I like IT, BUT! There are minor issues... Rating means there's editing issues, needs character development, is too unrealistic, or has issues– I do not consider it an overall bad rating.
4🌟:I like IT a lot. Great, Solid Story w/ few if any inconsistencies or errors. This is a HIGH Rating, & I rarely give OUT a Higher Rating.

This was a great story. It was well written and fast paced. The chemistry between the characters was sizzling hot. This book has everything you need to keep you turning pages hot sexy men, steamy scenes and some conflict thrown in. I cannot wait for what this author writes next.

There was some super weird misogynistic moments early on that almost made me give up but thankfully that stopped after a few chapters. After that I really enjoyed it just as much as the first book (though I'm giving it one less start due to aforementioned issues). It was good for what it was: a quick and super steamy read.

So it took me a while to get into this book it was a slow burner in reading form for me I liked the characters they each had their issues and things you love or grow to love about them.

I just didn't feel connected to the book as I have with others from this author.

Finding their way....

This is a great story of three souls finding their way to each other. Bliss, Wylder and Colt fight their demons to become one. Lots of super steamy times! Lots of love as well.

All at Once was my first read by Brill Harper, and while I enjoyed the concept of this story, I found myself struggling half way through, as the dialogue started to feel forced and stilted. And while I appreciate that Bliss was younger than both Colt and Wylder, the constant reminders of the age difference were over the top and unnecessary. I actually didn’t like the Bliss character, and would like to have seen her evolve a bit more emotionally. Overall this was an OK story, but not one I would recommend above other erotic romance I have read.

What a disappointment after the first book of the series. This book could have benefited from thorough and ruthless developmental editing and at least 50 more pages of plot and character development.

- FMC: Bliss
- MMC's: Colt, Wylder
- POVs Included: Multiple POVs (Bliss, Wylder, Colt)

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Bliss has a new summer job while college is out working on a ranch as a housekeeper and cook. The job is great -- especially the cooking part, which she loves. But the two cowboys who are her bosses and best friends with each other are another story.

Her cowboy bosses are a temptation. And they are tempted by her. Tempted to share her in a way they've never shared a woman before.

REVIEW:

This was okay. It was pretty sweet and sexy. But I definitely enjoyed the first book, All Together, a lot more than this one.

This one is a lot shorter than that one so the build up isn't as believable or genuine to me. It feels more surface level than the first book to me.

Also I'm not usually a fan of cowboy romances. In theory they sound hot, but I haven't really found many that I've actually enjoyed much.

Still, I liked Bliss a lot. She's sweet and I loved how much she loves to cook and stays positive. I also liked Colt, who is a good guy. And I liked Wylder more after learning why he has those walls built up. But none of them were very deep characters either. We do get background for them, just not enough page time to get to know them more.

The steam was alright. But as much as I like m/m in menages, this one felt forced to me. I felt like Bliss pressured them too much and then when it finally happened it just didn't feel natural to me. Like they were just doing it because it was expected. I didn't feel any sexual chemistry between them.

Overall it was okay. All Together is definitely a lot better than this one, but I wanted to read it to finish out the duet. Not sure how they fit together or if she planned to write more books for this series and just never did? This book is in no way connected to the first book at all.

Stunning, sexy test of a friendship!

Colt and Wylder have been friends since childhood, and though they've shared each other's triumphs and tragedies, they've never both been attracted to the same woman. Until Bliss is hired as their new housekeeper/cook, and suddenly their friendship is put to the ultimate test.

Wylder is the dark one, full of secret torments that express themselves in a deliciously dominant manner. Colt is the easy-going guy, the one whose heart is big enough for all of them, especially since Wylder keeps his securely packed away.

Bliss may not have the same experience as her two bosses, but she knows a thing or two about valuing herself and about the importance of emotional vulnerability. I loved how she stood up to them both, insisting that they make their feelings known before she puts her heart on the line.

You'd think that the competition for Bliss's heart would pit these two cowboy buddies against each other, but that's where this author's genius comes in. Their friendship is examined in the same intimate detail as their blossoming romance with Bliss is, giving such amazing depth to each character that you can't help falling in love with all three.

These three find their happiness in a way that surprises them all, while giving the reader the dirty, decadent reading experience we've come to expect from this brilliant author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Levi and Wylder have been best friends since they were kids. They have shared all their triumphs and tragedies but never a woman. Levi and Wylder find themselves attracted to the new housekeeper/cook, Bliss, the agency has sent to their ranch. Bliss finds herself to her hot cowboy bosses. Levi is easy going with a huge heart full of love and hope. Wylder is dark and dominant with secrets that haunt him. Will Wylder, Levi, and Bliss risk it all for a chance at happiness together? Will the love they feel for Bliss lead Wylder and Levi to admit their true feelings for each other? Can Levi and Wylder convince Bliss to stay on the ranch with them? The chemistry between Levi, Wylder, and Bliss is HOT! I enjoyed All At Once by Brill Harper. I really loved Levi and Wylder and how their relationship was cemented and made stronger by adding Bliss. All At Once is an amazing story about 3 broken souls who overcome their pasts and heal with the love they have for each other. I would recommend getting All At Once by Brill Harper.

Torride with a surprising evolution
4.5
The story is well written and it does not enter immediately into a threesome. The characters are good and everyone knows that what they offer is out of the norm. The heroine has a real choice when she has never considered this situation, especially because of the behavior of her mother, to the point that she flees men and thinks she's unattractive, maybe frigid according to his mother. Yet as soon as she meets her two new employers, she experiences for the first time an attraction to the opposite sex.
Once past the first hesitations, the story becomes very steamy.
I found well constructed and surprising, the evolution of the relationship of the two men who until then were best friends, and the questioning of the characters to get there.
In the same way, the psychology of the characters is interesting because of the past of each of them, and the acceptance by the heroine of who she is, is well constructed.

Levi Colt and Wylder Madison have been friends since they were kids. When Bliss Camden came into their lives, sent by the employment agency to the Wylder Colt Ranch as a live-in housekeeper, they both were attracted to her. For Bliss, it was a new experience to feel the things these men made her feel. But she proceeded with caution, trying to understand what she meant to each before she risked her heart. For Wylder and Colt, it was a time of self-examination and consideration of their long-lasting friendship. Would the three be true to themselves and find common ground to be together like this? Could the guys convince Bliss to stay? Or would everything fall apart?

This was a good story line, the best part being able to experience the guys examining their friendship and what it really meant to them. Bliss also had an issue to get past based on her teen years with her mother’s many “boyfriends” that didn’t make a positive impression on her about romantic relationships. Seeing the relationship they could build together was refreshing and full of hope.

Since I adored the first book in this series (the first I’d read by this author), I immediately snapped up the next. Unfortunately, this book fell short of the high bar set by the first book by so many measures.

The two men read as such clichéd cowboys that I often had trouble telling them apart, even during their point of view sections. The arc of the romance almost worked until it all felt a bit contrived. To make a bad situation worse, the sexy bits were completely unrealistic on multiple levels. I do know that there is an element to suspending disbelief even in contemporary romance, but there are limits.

The individual character arc of the heroine, Bliss, was pretty much the only redeeming feature to this book. Her name might be hokey, but her journey as a person and the final confrontation with her mother were the only parts of the story I genuinely enjoyed.

I might take a chance on other books by this author, but this is one worth skipping for other readers. Unless you REALLY like cowboys.

Well this one was steamy AF! I love love love a virgin heroine being claimed by a dominant masterful hero, and this had two.

Annnndddd…the swords cross. They’re ALL in the relationship together.

What I liked: a sweet, virgin heroine and no cheating, lots of steam

What I didn’t like as much: the one hero was a manwhore, the other was less so, and i could’ve done without those aspects. Celibate heroes are sexy hero’s and manwhores are gross. I also didn’t like that the ending didn’t have any babies and the epilogue wasn’t that far out. This kind of story needed an epilogue much further out.

Safe. Not too many explicit details on the heroes pasts, one is a manwhore, the other is more controlled and disciplined. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No others, no cheating, no abuse. HEA but epilogue was weak sauce. Needed more.

When Wylder and Colt here Bliss to be a live in housekeeper, all three get more than what they bargained for. Wylder is closed of and dominant, Colt is kind and open hearted, and Bliss is a young woman with a past she wants to escape. All three need each other to open their hearts and learn to live life to the fullest.
A great steamy read that could melt an iceberg with the alphmallows who protect, posses and treat their woman with love and respect. I loved these three as they learn to be vulnerable with each other and learn to love to the fullest. I loved that no other women came between them and that there were no misunderstandings that tore them apart. I loved how Wylder opens up and comes out of himself and how Bliss finally lets go of her past and mother.

This is book two in the It's Complicated series. I will be honest, I missed book one but I found this could be read as a standalone. Bliss is a college student looking for a summer job. She is a live-in housekeeper at the Wylder Colt Ranch. It is a summer to remember but what if this could be a lifetime? Levi Colt and Wylder Madison are the best of friends and own the ranch. Yep, two very rough, tough true cowboys. They give Bliss a summer to remember but can they convince her to stay and be theirs for the rest of her life? A good cowboy read where the heroine is not perfect but she is perfect for Levi and Wylder. An entertaining read to see the transition of the characters and watch the love and happiness grow between all three characters. Enjoy!

This book was an ARC provided by the author. I really enjoyed this story. I read Its Complicated 1 and immediately couldn't wait to read this one. This is a short story about Bliss, a young woman who has dug herself out of a scary childhood to start following her dreams. She gets the chance to be a housekeeper on a ranch for the summer. The attraction between Bliss, Wylder and Colt is immediate. She is drawn to the two best friends even though they are so different. She completes them and opens the mens eyes to look more at their own relationship. Can they convince her to stay before the summer is up or will they not work thru their pasts to have a future? You will not be disappointed to read their story!

Well…. This book disappointed me a little bit. I had high hopes because of All together but sadly no.

The book is about a woman who went to a farm to housekeep for two cowboys. But is it only housekeeping?

I really liked the plot but it was rushed. I couldn’t get myself into it and couldn’t enjoy it. -
There weren’t any cliches which worked really well. +

The smut was really good and the mxm scenes too but in All together there was more passion. +

Which also disappointed me was the non existent drama. Yes it’s nice that they treat each other well and no public embarrassment but where is my heart clench? I missed the fast reading so I can go to the next page. - + +

Smut and romance are a must in a book but also the comedy. I want to giggle in some scenes but here weren’t any. -
I didn’t find any grammar mistakes and all in once I wouldn’t read it again. - +

This is quite simply said a fantastic story with a great storyline and absolutely fantastic characters. If you like open minded MFM stories this one might be for you. If you also like or at least don´t mind MM stories you are almost sure to like this one. I at least loved it, it was so full of love and devotion and commitment between the two good friends and then with the addition of Bliss. Overall it is simply a really lovely romance that is also a feel good story and it is very deserving of the five stars I am giving it here. I believe this is the first story I am reading by this author, but it will certainly not be the last.

Cute and sexy

This is a cute and sexy story about a couple of cowboys and the young woman who brings them all together in a way they couldn't have expected. I felt that this story was a little more rushed than the story before it Altogether. I loved that story, and liked this one. I didn't feel I knew the characters as well in this story. The guys' relationship was actually hotter than the one with the heroine. The heroine seemed to be less concrete in personality. It was as though in being submissive, some of the moments became about that and less about her personally. She still had some backbone, and I liked that she was adaptable and caring. I just did not get a good feel for her other than her reaction to the heroes. Hard to explain. Still a good story, though.

Bliss is a college student off for the summer and accepts a housekeeping position on a ranch. While her passion is cooking, she thinks she'll be able to figure the rest out as she goes, how hard can a lil house work be? Colt and Wylder want so much more than a housekeeper and one look at Bliss is all it takes to know she's the one. All have pasts that will need to be addressed if they have any hope of finding their HEA.
A well written, steamy menage romance that will make you lust flair and you heart swell.

I enjoyed this story. Bliss has lots of hangups and when she is sent to the Wyder Colt Ranch she is the housekeeper and cook and she wants to hid in the woodwork. Both cowboys are so very hot. Colt is the easiest to love as he doesn't like to hide his feelings. Wylder is more complex. Bliss is what keeps this trio going. The guys ended up having a hot relationship with each other but Bliss was always the one to keep the strings together. They formed their own family. Bliss finally stands up to her mother and I couldn't be prouder of her. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Bliss thought her summer job would be easy earn money for the summer then go back to school finish her accounting degree. But that was before she realized how much she wanted Colt and Wylder but they cant want her. Wylder and Colt want mire then just a housekeeper they want a wife and then they find out they want a whole lot more. But Bliss has allotvof hurt to get over and her guys need to find out what they really want there relationship isnt conventional but it definitely is dirty and has a happy ending. I liked this book would have liked and epilogue at the end though to see how everything went.

Okay but could not connect

All at Once looked like it might be a great story - a MFM with hot and hunky cowboy's.............well sign me up. So I was looking forward to cracking this book up on my Kindle and kicking back with some tight fitting Levi's, cowboy boots and stetsons.

For me the first part of the story was a bit slow and then it became more forced and rushed. This is not the first story I have read by Brill Harper so I was disappointed in this book. It was an okay read to me but it did not hold my attention or make me want to finish it, so I ended up skimming parts of it.

Oh my gosh! This was so tastefully done. It’s a ménage romance but with the men also coming to terms with their attraction for each other. The story was written so well that it all makes sense. The loyalty and love and respect they all have for each other made this all the better. Each person has their own demons to battle but together is how they go through it. Not to mention that this is also very filthy hot. I needed a fan! I actually wanted more even after the epilogue was over.

Live-in-housekeeper or something more?

I have read several stories by this author and I can honestly say this is one of my favorites. I really liked how all three characters grew and faced down their own demons. My only complaint is that I wished Wylder had physically threw Bliss' "mother" out of the house. Really, could that woman even be called a mother?!? To understand what I am talking about you will have to read this great story.
