Forget it
Brooke Chambers is forced to leave the Army and the job that she loves. Moving back into civilian life, she never imagined it would mean looking after her teenage sister and searching for a new career. But, with the sudden loss of their dad, Brooke finds herself stepping up, and in the process, looking for a new job; any job. Getting the chance to let off some steam, she heads to Art, a lesbian bar, and meets Catherine. It’s lust at first sight as both women feel that instant connection, despite the obvious age gap. With Brooke’s new job being the same place where Catherine works, she assumes it was meant to be. Catherine, however, has other ideas and puts a halt to any prospective love affair, much to Brooke’s confusion and heartbreak. When she tells Brooke to forget it, she didn’t quite mean it so literally and wishes she hadn’t said it, but Brooke is injured on the job and loses her memory…and forgets Catherine….Will they get a second chance to work things out?

Unpopular review :( thing is I hate to write bad reviews so I’m going to try and be gentle here :)
First of all, I can’t swallow the idea that after a couple of nights together, someone can be heartbroken!
Second, how can a 42 year old listen and act upon a 15 yr old teenager without checking any kind of facts!
Third, I didn’t get the connection between the 2 MCs. It wasn’t believable if I may say so.
I did however like the characters and normally I love ice queens in big corporations, but for me, the MC portrayed as an ice queen, was not in any way! The author wasn’t able to get this one right as I just felt she portrayed her as rude and that’s it!
The idea of the book is very cool, but the delivery isn’t unfortunately..

Another great read!
“There are some things the heart can never forget”. I don't want to risk giving away spoilers but I can say that this is a beautiful romantic story and I absolutely loved it. The author knows how to write the right amount of sweetness, humor and emotions. But of course, her characters make her stories so good too. Characters you can’t help but root for and fall in love with. I definitely recommend this book.

So I decided to reread this book mainly because the audio just came out and Im on the fence on getting it. I totally stand by my previous review but this time around I think I enjoyed the story more. It was a nice reread, reenjoy type read.

I like reading Highton-Stevenson books because they are uncomplicated and from what I've read, happy. This book is a good 3.5* for me. There are few grammatical errors, I think but am not too sure because UK and US terms differ, but that's not why it's only 3.5 stars. I felt that the lead up to the amnesia was pretty well done but what happens after was just too simple. And I stress the too in that sentence. It was like poof I remember so all is forgiven if you answer this one question right. I guess I was looking for more drama. What I really liked is that the story didnt just end with "I remember, let's rethink our relationship." It went beyond that. So, if you are looking for uncomplicated, simple, free kU book then give this a shot. I enjoyed it enough.

Just loved it. Another great one from Claire. The MC's had great chemistry and the story was engaging as well. It's hard to resist ex-military and an almost hard ass boss.

Another winner from Claire! Throughly enjoy reading Forget It and her other books - in fact I’ve read all the books except for The Doll Maker and she’s fast becoming my favourite author! And the fact that she’s a Liverpool fan make it all the sweeter.... YNWA
Back to the book - loved the age-gap romance, ice-queen personified theme! Not too angsty with a dash of sweetness. Great chemistry between Catherine and Brooke with some pretty hot sexy scenes!

I utterly enjoyed Claire Highton-Stevenson's latest romance, "Forget It." To be honest, I didn't know what to expect as I couldn't remember what I read in the blurb before. But instead of refreshing my memory, I decided to just dive right in with the story instead. I'm so glad I did that because I soon discovered for myself that there were a few tropes that Highton-Stevenson weaved into her story, which pleased me to no end. Tropes that I'm a fan of - age-gap, ice queen, rich girl/poor girl, second chance in the romance genre! As if those weren't enough to thrill me, there was that big twist involved (ironic that of all blurbs, this one had to be the one I didn't remember, innit?) which, surprise sur-bloody-prise, was what triggered the second chance trope, much to my delight! I've always loved that kind of twist in the romance. The couple of lesfic romance related to this subject matter that I'd read previously were utterly brilliant. This particular one, though, really tugged at my heartstrings during the time when I needed something warm and cosy to soothe my mind and Highton-Stevenson's weaving of that "knotted thread" into her romantic tale just hit on everything that I was looking for. In essence, it was perfect timing, really, for me to read this book! This brilliantly depicted insta-love-turned-second chance romance between an ex-Army veteran and an HR manager of a retail store was so heartwarming, adorably sweet with just a hint of tension, fun, compelling and heartfelt. I enjoyed every bit of it until the very end! And what a delish epilogue to wrap up a thoroughly entertaining, cosy, feel-good romance! Also, it's a perfect holiday romance too, if you ask me!

This book was an ok read, but nothing more. The storyline was a little bit too farfetched and simple for me. My rating is 2.8 stars.

I just finished the audio version of this book. Another great one by the Author. I really enjoyed this how it played out. Sometimes we make rash decisions and regret them immediately. Knowing that you have to live with them and move on. It was nice to see the MC given a second chance.

Enjoyed this book - typical romance which is what I needed. Age gap tale that involved a 15 year old sister who is often centre stage and is surprisingly mature. Worth a read though would have loved more of Brooke's backstory.

I've loved every book by this author, so naturally I had to read this one too, but I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like it as much as the others. From the description, it sounded like a bundle of typical lesfic tropes - ice queen, age gap, cute kid, and then throw in some amnesia. But the story actually flowed quite naturally, and as with her other books, the characters were such that you fell in love with them pretty fast. My favorite was Catherine, the ice queen who really wasn't that icy at all on the inside. I found her very sympathetic and relatable, and she sounded super hot. Then there was Brooke, the younger woman, who has an honesty and straightforwardness you just have to love. Brooke's kid sister, 15-year-old Robin, steals every scene she's in with her typical idealistic teenage ideas of how romance should go (and it turns out, she might be right)! The amnesia wasn't the over-the-top kind you see in movies where the character forgets everything. It was actually a very believable retrograde amnesia in which she just couldn't remember the past few weeks, but she knew who she was and everything. Most importantly, the amnesia provided her and Catherine with a second chance most couple who screw things up never get. Have you ever made such a big mistake that you wish the person you wronged could literally forget it and you could start all over again? In this book, that really happens!

Needing a night out, Brooke went to the gay bar Art. There she spotted a beautiful older woman., Catherine. They meet, and have an incredible weekend together. When Brooke goes to interview for a job, who is the head of HR but Catherine. She gets the job, but confusingly Catherine doesn't want anything to do with her. When on the job, Brooke suffers a head injury and has amnesia, not remembering the past few weeks or Catherine. I read this book in one sitting!! 5 stars

This is my first book by Claire Highton-Stevenson, and I’m happy to say that I was instantly drawn into the book. It’s a lovely story, don’t hesitate to pick it up, as I think most romance lovers will like it.
Brooke is an ex soldier who resigned to take care of her teenager sister Robin. I instability liked this character and the way she and her baby sis have.
Catherine is a HR manager, supposed ice queen. But when introduced in the book she is all but that. She’s insecure, maybe even socially awkward and damaged by her ex lover.
That last bit probably explains why the relationship between Brooke and Catherine ends just as quickly as it begins. I was a little appalled by the way it was ended by Catherine. Normally I would presume that a woman of her age would offer more of an explanation. But people do crazy things sometimes.
They dance around each other for a short while. Reading about that wasn’t the most pleasant, I almost started hating Catherine. Mostly because the reason she does this (the way her ex treated her) is only explained later. So I suggest indulging in the hate for a bit, but don’t be to hard on Catherine ;)
Thank god (better yet, thank Highton-Stevenson) something happens that gives them a second chance at love, let’s not spoil that by telling about it and let you enjoy the book yourself.

Enjoyable!
Loved the characters and the story. The instant connection between the two was definitely a page turner. Was not sure about some of the events in the storyline but in the end it all worked out.

I very much enjoyed this story. Amnesia trope is so very soap opera and early 90’s that I guess authors shy away from the idea nowadays. But CHS dared to conquer such tired trope. And I love it! There’s nothing more angsty than regrettable choices and things going as planned but in the worst possible way.

A wonderful story by Claire! This book was so amazing! Make sure you have time to read, because you aren’t going to put this one down once you start it! I fell in love with Brooke. Her character is the kind of woman lots of lesbians are looking for. She’s loyal, loving, hard working and she looks great in uniform!
Catherine is the type of woman Brooke is looking for. Fun, sexy, single and very exciting to be around. Little does she know the plan Fate has in store for them.
The supporting cast in this book plays a big part in the story. And the sexy times are steamy and well written. Claire has really thought this one out and I think she has put out a winner! I really enjoyed this book and I know you will too!

She’s done it again…written another amazing story that I fell in love with.
This second chance romance from Claire Highton Stevenson was so much more than I expected! It has everything I adore, Ice Queen, Age Gap, amazing romantic plot. A very clever twist in plot sees Ice Queen Catherine presented with a second chance to redeem herself, and I really loved every moment of it!
Brooke is an independent young woman, with her whole life ahead of her, but unfortunately her life isn’t all roses. With her dad’s death, and her mum abandoning her and her sister, she found herself unexpectedly having to change her whole life to be there to take care of her sister, Robin. That meant leaving the army, and having to find a regular job, but it’s just not that simple.
One night she meets the amazing Catherine in a bar, they hit it off, but she soon discovers Catherine isn’t all she thought. When you arrive at a job interview and you know someone on the interview panel, know that feeling? My heart broke for Brooke, but I didn’t imagine Catherine would become the typical Ice Queen.
Living in hope she’d be thawed, I cheered Brooke on as she started work but when her sister tries to help by visiting Catherine on her behalf, Brooke’s world falls apart. Catherine tell her to forget it, them, there will never be, and I cried so much.
Then I laughed…(just for a second)
Ironically, in the ultimate plot twist, Brooke does forget it, but that is the turning point for Catherine to start learning she was wrong. Especially when she gets all jealous of Amber!
This was so sweet, even if Catherine was an Ice Queen (she has a gooey centre), and Brooke was just the cutest, always, even when she was hurt. The romance between them is light hearted, and passionate, and now I just want so much more from Brooke and Catherine. I couldn’t actually get enough of Catherine.

Brooke has recently retired from full time service in the British military. After the death of her dad, she is the only one there for her mid-teens sister Robin. Returning to civilian life is quite a challenge after many years service, and now she needs to get a job fast to support her and Robin.
Catherine is an ice queen at work. Not through choice, but because of fear. Her last relationship with a co-worker at a previous company imploded, forcing her to move to Pollards department store as head of HR. So now she puts on an ice queen demeanour to stop her co-workers getting too close. However, she isn’t really a fully committed ice queen; when outside of work she can be an entirely different person.
This is a fun variation on several tropes - maybe second chance, one night stand with someone you then work with, and a few more. This has the one big twist that makes it stand apart from other stories in the same style.
There are lots of cringeworthy second hand embarrassment situations which I find difficult to read, but once past these the story is thoughtful, warm and entertaining. Catherine seems a horrible person at one point in the story, but that is because of fear, and she really makes her mark later on in the story. Brooke is a constant, solid and dependable person, someone who would be wonderful as a partner, or even as a best friend.

I've read the author before and wasn't disappointed in this body of work. I don't understand second chance romances and had to remember it was a story I wanted to get lost within. I read a story about a young woman who gave up her military life to take care of her sister. There is a love story which includes heartbreak. It's a well written story without undue wordiness. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

They don’t care about the age gap as their chemistry is off the charts and lust got them together as magnetos of opposite polarity. But turns out Catherine works in her new work place and because of a bad experience she refuses to mix her private life with her work and break things up with Brooke. There’s an incident, Brooke loses her memory and forgets Catherine… The question is if they will have the chance to amend things and survive the heartbreak, will they get a second chance?
I loved everything about this book, the plot and twists, the characters are well developed and very lovable, also their chemistry is just magnificent. You can feel their connection from the beginning. It is a wonderful, engaging story, a very enjoyable read with a beautiful build-up of the romance.
Is undoubtedly a great read that hooks you right from the start. Has great characters, a bit of angst, humour, sexy times, heartbreak and of course… romance. It is simply brilliant, page turning.
A must read, I highly recommend to everyone.

I loved Forget it. A great love story. I like the way the older sister caring for the younger sister is an important part of the story. Everyone deserves a second chance to make a better first impression.

Another Goodie
This is the third book of Claire’s I’ve read it’s not the best so far ,but it’s still a really good story well worth a good couple of days reading Cam Thomas books are next but they’ve got to be good to surpass Escape and Freedom and The Promise
