Barista by day. Engaged to the baddest rock star in the world by night.
Well, fake engaged. I mean, what’s one more lie, right?
To be fair, it was Dex’s idea.
In trouble one too many times… Now he needs me to make him look tame.
Trust me, there is no taming this wild hunk. He’s built from muscle, music, and a thirst for women. He can do whatever he wants. Just as long as holds up his end of this crazy lie.
The engagement ring on my finger is just for show. But now these feelings between us... Well, maybe he’ll end up with another love ballad to play when this ends.
We were supposed to play pretend. But there’s no pretending between the sheets.
And now I’m looking at Dex questioning what’s fake and real…
Wow! The members of Filthy Line are awesome. They may be foul mouthed and full of themselves at times, but underneath it all, they prove they all have hearts too. Dex is the bad boy rockstar, who gets himself into trouble a little too often. That is until he meets his match in Candice. She is the unassuming barista, who appears vulnerable and unsure of herself, yet can be outspoken, especially when she is around Dex, and will say and do what she wants. This was yet another amazing read by Jaxson Kidman, and I am eagerly awaiting to get #FILTHY again with next book.
Dex is loveable, sweet, funny and completely in love with HIMSELF! But that's just part of his charm. He had me cracking up. And Candice. Dex meets his match in her. She is NOT impressed by his rockstar status. Nor is she impressed with the money that comes along. She's kinda just not impressed with Dex period . That is until he works his charm on her! I am so loving this series and cannot wait for the next!
I have to quit reading this author’s books. I read a few I 3 starred (forgetting I read Hate Me and it’s sequel), I kept the author in my lists. After the last two “rockstar” books??? Fuck, even Tracy Wolff’s rockstars were better.
I always get the feeling this author secretly hates women. The h’s are always TSTL or just ridiculous in their actions, behaviors, words. ......this from an angst whore.
These characters had me laughing, and it was good to be reacquainted with them once again. I enjoyed the storyline, but was hoping for more of the raw heartfelt words that give me all the feels. I guess Jaxson’s earlier books were so damn good and I wanted more of that.
In a last ditch effort to keep Dex from facing some jail time, his manager comes up with the idea of a fake engagement. They could set up interviews and pick the perfect candidate, but Dex already met her. Candy, his sweetie at the cafe, the one who doesn’t fall at his feet because he’s a rockstar. Getting her on board is not going to be easy and because he’s an a$$hole he tests her limits.
Candice is a barista and is living in her sister’s basement. It’s not exactly how she planned her life to go, but it is what it is and who says it’s permanent. Her sister is little miss perfect and expects Candice to take a hold of her life and return to her ex. He still texts her, although she isn’t biting, as far as she is concerned it’s done. Hoping if she takes the offer as a fake fiancé it will make him realise it’s over.
I fell in love with this book #2 in the Filthy line as soon as I picked it up. Dex is such a bad As* thinking that just because he's a rock star and has women throwing themselves at him all of the time that he doesn't need love or relationships. Then he meets Candice who is more of a simple girl. She's not just throwing herself all over him and that kind of baffles Dex. But of course, he's always in trouble for his many stunts. Could they fake an engagement so he gets out of trouble? Or will he truly fall in love with Candice? I'm not going to tell you! Grab a copy and get to reading it.. You won't be sorry that you did.. It's fantastic!
Dex, another member of Filthy Line.. The next to fall in love. It starts with a couple of arrests, a girl in a coffee shop and lawyers trying to save his reputation. Toss in a fake engagement and a controlling, bitch of a sister and it all comes together in a really great story. Jaxson navigates us through another member of the band life and falling in love. I enjoyed this one just as much as I did Nash's. Each book I read of Jaxson's is better than the last one, he sets it higher for each one. You won't want to miss it!!
Dex & Candice story was intriguing and intense in the best way. It was also raw and realistic. I’m so glad that In the end that they finally figured out their that their feelings for each other were real.
What happens when you get arrested twice in one night? For Dex, part of the band Filthy Line, a fake engagement to make the bad press go away. For Candice, it's a chance to get rid of her ex once and for all. A business arrangement - what could go wrong? Playing at love only leads to heartbreak and real love. This book is full of comedy, anger and two people trying to fix themselves. Another book by Jaxson that I couldn't put down!
Dex is the bad boy rockstar, constantly in trouble. Candice is the unassuming barista seemingly unefected by his charm...lol. Whoever said a fake engagement could go so wrong or right? Dex has definitely met his match with Candice.
I respect that the author put a lot of effort into this. With that being said, the writing is terrible. The FMC has like a violence tick almost? She will punch someone in the face out of nowhere. And the story is missing SO much. There was no character development because the reader is never able to figure out these characters. They have NO depth. The MMC is gross and weird. I was so tired of seeing “sweetie” and every single page mentions that he is a rock star. If I had made this into a drinking game, I would have been dead by 30%. The only thing I could figure out about him was that he was seriously inappropriate, but I don’t mind it (if written well). I don’t even know what these characters were supposed to look like. Did he have long hair? Short hair? Was he supposed to be tall? Short? Fat? Skinny? Muscular? Was she blonde? Brunette? How old was she? How old was he? Was this a bald middle aged dude with a pot belly and little ****?
Another thing, I would get part of the way into a scene and then realize it was supposed to be a big moment so I’d have to back track. There was no buildup. There was no signal. There was no development of the story! It was just BAM. They would go from drinking and playing guitar to a fight and the MMC having a weird epiphany that was totally unrelated. Also, what was with the topless strippers everywhere? And why was the FMC running into rooms to beat up women? Where did the MMC get these “tests” from and were they supposed to be demonstrating something? I don’t know a single woman that would a) cook breakfast for a dude and his fiancée topless in just panties (wtf about bacon?) or b) a woman that would be actually okay with that? Fake fiancée or not it’s uncomfortable to meet someone over some runny eggs with their nipples helping butter the toast. No shame for s*x workers, but I can’t see how this would be acceptable. It was just so badly written.
I do respect that the author didn’t try to glamorize drugs or alcohol. They also didn’t write the band as a bunch of saints who had dabbled in drugs & alcohol but never overindulged. That irritates me to no end when authors do that because “rock stars” aren’t like that. I’m not reading a rock star romance expecting (or appreciating) a choir boy as the MMC.
Filthy Line Dex...what to say? What to write?! Once thing is for sure Dex puts the “whore” in manwhore and “douche” in douchebag! Non-stop laughter from the get go, this book had me reeled in. Definitely more funnier than A Filthy Rock Star! Dex, Dex, Dex...the biggest manwhore douchebag that you hate so much with a passion, but at the same time can’t help but love him too. Especially because underneath that exterior (he shows to the world) he has a heart. Confusing, I know, but it’s the truth. You would agree if you’ve read the book. But it’s what makes him him. So you can’t fault him, since he is always upfront and straight never trying to be someone he isn’t. Candice...definitely a type of character I had been wanting to read about. Despite her life situation, she is truly a badass, independent woman! She may have had her weak moments (can’t fault her for that), but that’s what makes her human. Another duel POV book (from the #FILTHYLINE series) this time from Dex and Candice. And I loved it! Being able to see both characters perspectives in terms of emotions, thoughts and feelings in the same situations as well as their personal lives was refreshing. This book had it all, an inside perspective into the rock and roll lifestyle, the nitty gritty of it all (even if some of it seemed exaggerated and a little unrealistic) and that fame isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Especially when it comes down to legal issues/troubles. Overall, a great rockstar romance read! So, if you love rockstar romances, a manwhore douchebag rockstar lead and a badass girl, then look no further because this is the book for you!
Well done Jaxson Kidman, another great start to the 2nd book in the #filthy series. Book 2 is about Dex and Candace (Candy). Candace works as a Barista. has hidden secrets that only she knows about. Dex, the #filthy rock star, comes to her cafe for a coffee and meeting with the lawyers and Toby....He has his eyes set on Candace, the only woman he has met that doesn't swoon at his rock start status. Sassy and takes no crap from Dex or his crew, Candace can certainly hold herself in a difficult situation. Dex's idea of getting out of jail card....Candace. Will she agree to his plan, this is actually a good plan cos it will help her get rid of an Ex at the same time. With a great right hook (ask Toby) Candace accepts the offer to help Dex...only so she can help herself. With no real feelings allowed in the Fake engagement, Candace and Dex realise there is more to the fake story. Jealousy and heartbreak....secrets needing to be revealed. A sister that needs to keep herself out of Candace's life.....so many twists to the story. Take a ride of your life with Dex and Candace. Dex has a great sense of humour and tries a few "tests" on Candace and of course loves spreading rumours about Jay and a pineapple...I will let you read the story for your self to enjoy.. Thank you Jaxson. Can't wait for 3rd book in the series Reed, due on 1st July
✅ MF Rockstar ✅ Fake Engagement ✅ Ex boyfriend drama ✅ JP H ✅ insta love
❌no cheating ⚠️ naked strippers, previous fuck buddies but no touching
From the reviews I thought I’d hate Dex, but we must have read different books. The worst thing Dex did was parade naked strippers around the house. I didn’t get the point, but he never touched them even though they we’re basically the bands shareable buddies. This book was definitely milder in a good way from Book 1.
After convincing Candace to become fake engaged to help his image Dex was instantly protective of her, tried to help her and wouldn’t let the guys talk shit about her. We got some nice scenes with Nash and Liv though I was really hoping for more Liv. Dex is infinitely more romantic than Nash, doing coffee and breakfast, and has no problem telling her he’s in love with her at the end.
I had mixed feelings about Candice, I loved how she gave his shit back to him but what was with her constantly hitting everyone? She gets mad an wham. I think the author was trying to make her tough but it didn’t work. Otherwise she was fine.
Anyway now I’m going to read Reeds story after I said I wasn’t going too 😂 The banter between the guys adds great humor and you need to learn why Jay loves pineapples.
Oh! And Jay is no longer my favorite. Major ahole in this book. Dex is my current favorite.
After taking it a little too far, Dex decides it's not far enough. Aah, the life of a rock star, and not just any rock star, but a member of FILTHY LINE. Dex is just getting started. Once again he's proved to himself that love and relationships are nothing but headaches and problems. Good thing he's a rock star because, with endless Line Whores vying for his attention, love never has to enter the equation. Or so he thought. BAD BOY ROCKER IN TROUBLE AGAIN. Dex messed up big time, this time, and Toby needs to do damage control. Control was something Dex did, not have done to him. Unless...Candice's first run in with Dex was a disaster. After what apparently had been a long night for him, Candice meets the rock star face to face and decides, almost immediately, that he's trouble with a capital T. She is definitely right and she would soon find out why. What began as damage control would become more than he could handle, but exactly what Dex needed. WILD, ROCKy, AND ALWAYS FILTHY ! SMOOTH AS SIN BAD BOY MEETS SEXY BARISTA WHO TURNS HIS WORLD UPSIDE DOWN, OR MAYBE RIGHT SIDE UP ! ? ! THIS SERIES HAD ME COMPLETELY INVESTED FROM THE START, HOOK-LINE-AND SINKER ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ! ! !
I really enjoyed this. Normally the second book in a series is disappointing but this was a pleasant surprise. It was as good as Nash’s story.
Dex has a mind for the gutter. He makes it tough to look beyond the filthy rockstar veneer. However, Candice somehow breaks through it, and underneath she finds sharp humour and mutual salvation.
This book has some really funny moments. I just love humour in a story, as it reminds the reader not to take everything so seriously.
The drama was at a perfect level. It wasn’t dragged out. Is wasn’t stressful. It was just fun excitement. There wasn’t endless wallowing either. So the story flowed and it progressed at a good pace.
The characters are layered and mature. The girl is fiesty, but very likeable.
If you are likely to be offended by a filthy mind and dirty ideas, then don’t read this. This is an escape into epic abandonment so one can go back to being a demure citizen in the rat race of life and existence. So just enjoy the idea of letting the wind in your hair and your judgement and walls disappear. It gives you a few hours of escape.
A FILTHY ENGAGEMENT (Filthy Line Book 2) by Jaxson Kidman Dex is a guitarist member of Filthy Line. He is over the top and trouble with a capital T. After his second arrest in one evening, his reps have a meeting with him in a coffee cafe to explain he needs to clean up his act or at least look like he is. If it looks like he is engaged, it could settle his reputation down. He grabs Candice the barista, who is having none of his “star stuff” and he decides she is who he wants to be fake engaged to. He is totally intrigued with this down to earth girl and she is perplexed, attracted and maddened with him. Dex is sensitive, but thinks he needs to live the rock and roll life, has to have the women, the drinking, and everything else that goes with the life. I love these two and this story. It has drama, lots of great banter, lots of interaction with the other Line members, and some blazing hot chemistry. Grab this and read it as it is a very enjoyable 5 star read!
So I'm a feminist. But I'm not an a**hole. If a guy (who freely admits to being an a**hole) pisses you off and your first reaction is to slap/smack/open/close-fist/karate chop or what TF ever, than you are something far worse. Candice struck him at least four times, and a couple other people who got in the way. Sorry, I'm supposed to believe she is some kind, almost doormat type and yet her go to reaction is violence? Nope, not buying it. And I doubt a closed knit family like the band would approve either. And the love, where does the love come from? They don't know each other. Dex knocks out her one date but then "gives her up" to her past ex? (He also got punched). Since when did he have a personality transplant? Dex wants, Dex takes. The whole thing was a bit confusing kinda insta-love with hints of a big dark past that never really develops, they never really have a conversation and then they are in love and the story just flops into an HEA. Still love the characters dialogue.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So the series got a bit better with this book but not much. I liked Dex a bit better than Nash or I'm getting used to self indulging a hole rockstar. Again, we don't get much background on the guy so we start ground zero in the coffee shop. He is in big trouble with record company and the law for being arrested for two bar fights, same night.
Candice, the barista at this coffee shop is hilarious as Dex really pisses her off. She hands him his butt time after time. I found this the most interesting part of the book.
There was some growth in their relationship but I don't think of it as very romantic and did not feel love....some more depth would of helped me believe.
I think this was the better of the two in the series. This is like reading Motley Cru life story...these guys are never going to back down and they may manage relationship with normal folks but hard to believe....
jaxson kidman has done it again. he made me fall in love with a book, with characters. His writing is like none other, and that is coming from someone who has read all his beautiful series.
Dex is a bad boy rocker right. He isn’t like nash. He doesn’t fall in love and go all sappy for a girl who pushes him. Until Candy comes around. She is not some groupie willing to kneel and kiss his feet, in fact she is more likely to get on her tippy toes and slap him right across the face. That’s what makes this story all the more perfect. She’s got attitude, he’s got game. Will Dex end up turning out like nash and give up his Line Whores for Candice?
Filthy Line are the wild guys of Rock n roll. Gals strip hoping to get a piece of them. This is Dex's story. He's the bad boy who always gets himself in trouble, which could mean jail this time for real. What can he do to change his image and possibly get a reprieve? A Fake engagement. Not someone his lawyers pick , a scripted relationship. He wanted someone he chooses. He saw that in Candy, a barista, who has no idea who he is . He finally met his match with her, with her quick sarcastic wit and a good right hook, that really impressed him. This story had me laugh out loud. It is fun sexy, raunchy, #filthy only as Jaxson Kidman can write.
This book had a lot of promise but it just fell short. You have the filthy rock star in trouble with the law, a fake engagement and a beautiful barista with a filthy mouth and a good left hook, so what went wrong?! The author just didn’t make me care about either one. Dex was handsome, sexy and rich but I just didn’t feel any chemistry with these two. There was more chemistry with the strippers then with Candice. There was no romance and Candice was kind of stupid. I kept thinking doormat. The first book in this series was excellent but this one was just disappointing. I seriously can’t recommend this book. I hope Reed’s story turns out better then this one.
Dex has a wild side that gets him in trouble. The manager of Filthy Line and the lawyers from The company backing the backing the band have a little sit down with him at a cafe. A cafe where Candace works as the barista. While trying to think of ways to fix what Dex has done, they decide that a fake engagement might be the answer. Candace has caught Dex’s eye and he has picked her. She turns him away but he’s determined that he will get her to agree.
Be ready for the wild ride Dex will take her on. Remember that this was supposed to be a fake engagement. Over time, it turns into something they both never expected.
I hated him. His arrogance, his sexy smirk. But I needed him and his proposition. It was all fake, the engagement, the stories, the way he looked at me, the way he kissed me, the way he made me breathless. It was all fake......right? My head keeps trying to convince my heart of that. He's a rockstar. This will definitely end. But will it be over? Jaxson has done it again with this 2nd book in the Filthy Line series. Has Dex finally met his match with Candice? I highly recommend you read and find out!
The Filthy Line Series is fantastic if you love crazy ass rockstars. This book was wild and over the top. Dex is the badass rocker who is always in trouble and he thrives on it. But too much trouble is not good for the band or him. If you haven't read anything by Jaxson Kidman give this series a try. You will be pulled in. Another awesome read.
I was really looking forward reading Dex and Candice story and I wasn’t disappointed. Dex is another one of those Filthy Rockstars who think they are bigger then anyone else, and can do what they want without consequences. Rules don’t apply to him until he is given an ultimatum. I loved him and his humour and what he did for Candice, this was another page turner, I read it in one go. Highly recommend it and give it 5*****
These guys have got to be the most obnoxious group of people I have ever read about 😂 I wanted to punch this one in the face so badly, I could feel it!!! But I did end up loving the story overall, and I loved that she stood up to him too. One thing I’d say, and this applies to book 1 as well, the stories are fairly short, and while the characters are great, there isn’t much development in the relationship department. So if you’re looking for more of that, you may get disappointed here.
Dex has met his match. Candice is a smart woman that knows what the deal is. She's not going to go crazy just because a filthy rock star has eyes for her but he offers a plan that they both will get something good in the end.
Dex has found a way to get arrested twice in the same night, how that happens well only he can do that. He needs a way put of jail and Candice is the ticket.
Dex tends to find trouble and then so does Filthy Line! When a plan is hatched it is only for one purpose. But.....things change! Band members interact and sisters do too! Book 2 is a great story and filthy all the way! Waiting for the next book! Great author!
Dex is desperate after getting into trouble so he has to come up with a plan that would work with legal issues. Candice is the perfect solution to help Dex so they pretend to be engaged and the plan blows up and they fall deeply in love. Filled with family drama and highly humorous moments with a pineapple. Looking forward to reading the next book
