சாரு மஜும்தாரின் மார்க்ஸிய-லெனினிய கட்சி, அப்போது தமிழ்நாட்டில் பரவிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. சாரு மஜும்தாருக்கு ஜனநாயகத்தில் நம்பிக்கை இல்லை. அவர், ஆயுதப் போராட்டத்தின் மூலமே அரசியல் தீர்வு கிடைக்கும் என்று நம்பினார்.
அவரதுத் தவரான வழிகாட்டுதலில் இழுத்துச் செல்லப்பட்ட பலரை நான் சென்னைக்கு வந்த பிறகு சந்திக்க முடிந்தது. இப்போதும் சத்தீஸ்கர், மத்தியப் பிரதேசம், ஒடிஸா, தெலுங்கானா போன்ற பகுதிகளில் பரவியுள்ள மாவோயிஸ்ட்டுகளின் முன்னோடி சாரு மஜும்தார்தாரன். தமிழ்நாட்டில் ஆயுதப் புரட்சியை நம்பிய பலர் 70களில் இருந்தனர்.
ஆனால் தீவிரவாதம் என்பது எப்போதும் சாத்தியமில்லை. இதைத்தான் இந்த நாவலில் சொல்ல முயற்சிக்கிறேன். பொதுவாகவே உலக வாழ்வு என்பது நல்ல

23 books48 followersVannanilavan was born in Tirunelveli. His real name is U Ramachandran. He studied in Palayankottai, Tirunelveli and Sri Vaikundam and came to Chennai in 1973 in search of work. He worked for a short time in magazines like Kannadasan, Kanayazhi and Puduvaikural, and in Thuglak magazine in 1976 and later in 'Subhamangala' magazine. He has also worked as a dialogue writer for the Tamil film 'Aval Appadithaan' directed by Rudraiya. He married Subbulakshmi on April 07, 1977. They have a son named Anand Shankar and two daughters named Sasi and Uma. He currently lives in Kodambakkam, Chennai.

A fairly predictable novel on stillborn armed revolution in 1960s Tamil Nadu
ML stands for Marxist Leninist , the armed faction of communist movement in Indua. This novella is set around Charu Majumdar's visit to Madurai after the Naxalbari violence. It tracks a set of characters - from an aged communist leader to an armchair communist professor to novices enamored by communism to police informers - and how the visit impacts them.
The story is in episodic style and is fairly predictable in how communist dreams crash when faced with the reality of India. The style reminded one of கரைந்த நிழல்கள் by Ashokamithran. Vanna Nilavan's politics is evident in the slant of the story and how he ridicules the still born dreams of armed revolution in Tamil Nadu.
It is a good read to understand the late 1960s Tamil Nadu. My grouse was it was very predictable to the very end and there was nothing new in it.

70களில் மதுரையை சுற்றி நடக்கும் கதை.
இடதுசாரி சிந்தனையை பின்பற்றுபவர்கள் சனநாயகத்தை விடுத்து ஆயுத புரட்சியை நோக்கி நகர முயல்வதே இந்த நாவல்.
கதாபாத்திரங்கள், குடும்பம் சம்பவங்கள், உரையாடல்கள் அருமை. ஆசிரியரின் தனிப்பட்ட கருத்தே மேலோங்கி இருக்கிறது. தீவிர அரசியலில் ஈடுபடும் இளைஞர்களை எதார்த்தமாக பதிவு செய்துள்ளார் ஆசிரியர்.
தற்காலத்தில் தமிழ் தேசியம் பேசுபவர்களை சில இடங்களில் நாவல் நினைவுப் படுத்துகிறது.
