One BIG thing got in my way....
I would've given this a 5 star review but I couldn't get past Stefanie forgiving Mac so easily like they were a couple of teenagers. He'd viciously turned on her TWICE! It would've taken me a heck of a lot more time to trust him again. We're talking MONTHS of proving himself. Yeah he had a valid reason for his mistrust, but he needed some major counseling and groveling before she should've fully accepted him back. This was also a spin-off of another series that made me wonder about these other characters' stories that were a big part of this book and threw the flow off. And lastly, this is a HFN story, not an HEA. So unless, the next ones are on sale- preferably in a set- I probably won't be reading any more of this series.

I bought this book in paperback.... WOW what a well written story that keeps you drawn each and ever page . Emotional strong characters
A very alpha male whos seen enough bad things, been hurt by the worst kind of betrayal.
Stefanie a women who refuses to ever let another man dominate her no matter what. These two work by each other and the sparks fly.
Im so looking forward to more in this series. What a great book .

Mac is an outstanding contemporary romance by Donna Michaels. Ms. Michaels has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a stellar cast of characters. I love the characters in this book and can't wait to dive into the next book of this new series. Mac is retired military and now owns his own security company. Stefanie is his sister-in-law's sister and they are business neighbors. Mac and Stefanie's story is full of drama, humor, smokin' hot sex and just a bit of suspense. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next Donna Michaels book. Mac is book 1 of the HC Heroes Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Did it again
Donna Michaels really pulls you in. This story like her others has everything. Heart, family , friends, sexy heat, and enough action to keep you reading. Mac and Stefanie are a pair of wounded souls that have to come to grips with their past to get to there hea. Can't wait to see what's next. It is a standalone read

Good characters and story but a repetitive style. Overuse of their names (Mac, Stef) and words like burst and religious curses.

Thank goodness for HC Heroes!!! I cried when Harland County ended. The characters were fantastic. The location and settings made me want to hop in the car and ROAD TRIP!!! Now, thanks to Mac, book one in HC Heroes I get to visit with past characters, meet new characters and escape the rat race of my life into someone else's.
I have become addicted to stories with Vets. They bring and understanding to what service members have gone through that I never grasped before, even being a military brat. Mac (mega hunk alpha male) now runs a security business with two of his old team members. Let me tell you there stories are going to be worth waiting for. I have me drool bib waiting. There last mission has left a black cloud hanging over Mac, affected everything he does, how he thinks, how he relates.
Stephanie is a graphic designer in the same business complex. But Stephanie is so much more. Her sister, Chloe, is married to Mac's brother, Logan. Family dynamics are the bomb!!!! Yes!! There is a soap opera within the pages of Mac. Key the dramatic music. It is going to be playing in your head a lot.
Stephanie and Mac have chemistry. Chemistry they think they can work through with one night, a few nights, a few weeks. Until the world comes crashing down. Mac over reacts. Stephanie's world crumbles and all the friends and vets might not be able to put her back together.
Thankfully Mac's brain starts to work. The groveling is some of the best I have read. I would read it again just for that. Men should read his grovel scenes so they can get it right.

I have not read Ms. Michaels’ series, Harland County, so both characters were new to me and were both a very pleasant surprise.
Mac is a decorated former Delta Force who recently created a security company with fellow “brothers”. Hehr has been betrayed by women in his past and has built high walls around his heart.
Stephanie Davis, his new sister-in-law, also has started a new business in the same town, and she too has been hurt in a past relationship. Her walls are just as high.
But the attraction is there, and the trust in each other and themselves is hard to attain. Just when they think they are ready to trust and open their hearts, it all comes down.
Can they overcome misunderstanding, self-doubts, mistakes, heartaches and lack of trust, to find true love, or will they go back to building higher walls and losing their chance of finding their HEA?
A very good start to this new series. Can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us in future books.

"Mac" is the first book in the HC Heroes series, and the perfect way to start an amazing new series. Levi "Mac" McCall has left Delta Force, and opened his own little investigation company and he intends on it being a big success. He did not however, count on his brothers sister-in-law following him to Harland County, but that looks like what she has done. Stefanie Davis doesn't have the time or patience for an alpha man and that is just what Mac is to her, he also happens to be hot, not that she has noticed. She is in Harland County to open a graphic arts business, that just so happens to be in the same complex as Mac's new business. Isn't it enough that they keep getting thrown into the same circles considering his brother is married to her sister. Well get ready for sparks to fly, because these two have some serious chemistry going on, but he is too alpha and she is too sassy.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series, and hopefully get another glimpse of some of the old Harland County characters and see what they are up to now.

A happy surprise
It's been a while since a Harland County release, so this was a happy accidental find on release day!! Love Mac, phew the chemistry, although his two friends add to the mix too (wink wink). We met Stephanie when her sister fell in love with a McCall, love scarred and wary, she returns for a fresh start to Harland County. At his brothers request Mac is supposed to keep an eye but he has his own issues, mistrust, and hard painful lessons on a mission mean these two may never get over their baggage or will they...... Fell back in love with the whole series, even this new off shoot, cannot wait for book 2 and 3 highly recommended. Great characters, amazing writing, fab story, settle in and enjoy!

Mac and Stefanie are thrown together a lot at events because his brother married her sister. There is undeniable chemistry but they both have baggage from past relationships that is stropping them from moving forward. However whenever these two are in small spaced together they can't seem to stop kissing one another.
I really enjoyed this book not only for the relationship part, but you also see other sides to these characters. They are both starting their own businesses and are nervous about it and because of this their emotions run high and situations could be taken out of context.
I can't wait to read more in this series.

What a way to start this new series HC Heroes Series “Mac” than with Mac and Stefanie. I love we keep in touch with all the familiar characters from Harland County Series. This book is everything we come to expect from the McCall’s. Mac and Stef’s story is full of hot chemistry, heartache, passion, good friends, love and so much more. If you love Hot Military Heroes then this is the series for you you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this series to all. I can’t wait to see what happens in Carter’s book. This book is very special to me thank you so much Donna Michaels.

Give me more HC Hero’s!
HC Hero’s is the new series I will be waiting for anxiously with each release.
Mac and Stephanie’s story is amazing. Donna Michaels way of telling this love story is real and relatable. The characters become people you want to know more about.
Ice read all of Donna Michales books and there is just something about the way she writes her men that I can’t resist. They aren’t perfect, they make mistakes but they love with their entire body. Their entire sexy as sin body that is.

Mac: I loved the surprises and the suspense throughout the book. Characters were amazing throughout. Donna Michaels did a fantastic job of coming up with a new series and bring old characters into it. It is always good to see the old and hear about the rest of the characters. Stephanie a special female that had been betrayed before and had a hard time trusting her heat to another man. Mac and Stephanie are so much alike when it comes to trusting people and their hearts. it was a great story.

"Mac" (HC Heroes Series Book 1) by Donna Michaels is a fantastic start to this new series. I loved Mac and Stefanie's story! This story is a spin-off from Donna's Harland County series. It's packed with humor, close family and friends, hot military heroes, romance, passion, entertaining and interesting characters, and more. I can't wait to see what happens next in this new series in "Carter". Highly recommend to all fans of romance, military heroes, and series.

My sort of hero
You know you're reading a good book if just thinking about it makes you catch your breath!
Alpha hero and strong heroine plus the promise of future relationships with other characters. If you enjoy Linda Howard or Kris Michaels this book is for you.
Only wish it was a bit longer. Wanted the ending but not for it to end.

Hot!!
What this book was HOT! First book I’ve read and i need to go back and read prior because I’d love to know how their stories went. Mac and Stefanie steamy romance was more than I bargained for. So much so I kept thinking I had to finish read this book kind of a bummer since I wanted so much more. Great book!! Can’t wait to read more!

Learning to trust
Mac and Stefanie have been burned badly in previous relationships. They have trouble trusting but have crazy chemistry. They decide to have a sex only relationship that leads to more but Mac messes up. Twice. He has to learn how to trust and she has to decide to forgive.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall
Loved this story for the hot, hot sexy times and the laugh out loud humor the author springs on you when absolutely least expect it! The dialog in these stories is so relatable it's like I'm sitting with my friends sharing a conversation. It tends to make me forget I'm reading fiction. So much fun!!

Mac is the first in a sexy romantic suspense series by the fabulous Donna Michaels. This story features two people with trust issues brought together by family and then chemistry. I liked watching them fight their attraction for each other but I loved watching them give in to it. Romantic suspense and terrific characters. A terrific start to a wonderful series.
