Every little girl dreams of a big white wedding with their knight in shining armor. They’d have 2.5 kids, a beautiful house, birds flying around with crowns made of flowers, and live happily ever after. None of us ever dreamed of being divorced with a baby because we discovered that the knight was an evil ogre when we came home from a prenatal appointment and caught him in bed with another woman. Yet, here I was, twenty-six, a single mom, trying to find a magic spell to keep the ogre out of my life.
My sister Tabitha’s arrival on the day I found him cheating brought something I needed into my life - someone who acted and loved like a real family member. I hadn’t even known she existed until that ancestry DNA testing gift, but it felt like I’d known her my whole life.
Now I wanted my dream, but I wanted to have a fresh start and be me for the first time in years. I wanted to live my best life with my daughter, laugh every day… basically I wanted the dream without the knight.
Then, my soon to be brother-in-law’s best friend dares me to go out on a date with him, and it’s not a dare I can say no to.
Ellis
I’ve been a tattoo artist for years. I’ve met great people, weird people, pain’s in the ass, you name it, but I’ve never met anyone like Jose.
We’re proof that opposites attract, but every time I ask her out she keeps saying no. So, I came up with a plan, a plan based on handing out dares knowing she wouldn’t say no to them. Why? Because she’s the most stubborn woman in the world.
When that still wasn’t enough, I went ahead and submitted a photograph of the two of us into a competition in an ink magazine. Guess what - it won, so it’s now on billboards all over the country and she can’t get away from me.
I’m a British author who grew up all over the world. My parents were diplomats, so we were posted to all of the corners of the earth and it was a blast. Some wouldn’t seem so awesome if you heard about them, but my parents always made it a fun experience and it molded my brother and I into who we are today.
I live in Wiltshire in the west country of the UK. At random times of the day, I’ll hear a moo from the fields around me, or get a whiff of that…uhhh…’country air’, and I love it! I might not have grown up in the UK, but I’m a British girl to the bone (regardless of the suspicious whiffs coming in from the fields).
I’m a single mother with a son who is nearing his teenage phase. Maybe he’s reached it early? Who knows. But he’s awesome and has a personality and sense of humor that I can only attribute to my family. We’re slightly bonkers, we have a wicked sense of humor and we find the positives in every situation. I’m so proud to be his mum and to watch him grow and mature.
Writing was something that I’d always done. I had a teacher in the third grade who always set us the task of writing a story and making it into a book every weekend. After I left school, I kept this up and wrote as often as I could or just plotted out books. This evolved into me taking the plunge and publishing my first book in 2016 and I’ve been typing ever since.
I’m proud to be an Indie Author, and I absolutely love writing out my crazy Providence characters and the more complex ones in my other series’. It doesn’t matter if it’s romantic comedy or something with more suspense – so long as it has a HEA I’ll do it!
I’ve got so many more planned, so the best is yet to come.
Do you know that kind of book you don't want to end? That kind of book you make a point of looking for lyrics that are in the story just to feel what the characters are feeling? This book is this ... This light and unpretentious book, but at the same time hot and intense reminded me of why I love reading. I don't know what has happened to authors who have lately appealed to bad emotions like anger, anguish, sadness, discomfort and frustration when we all know that this is not what today's world needs. These are the kind of petty thrills that can be generated by any gossip around the corner of your neighborhood. But generate happiness? Love? It takes construction, it takes work and dedication. I think some authors lately have lost track of the fact that one of the greatest successes we can have in life is through our work being happy and being able to make others happy. I would like everyone to remember this before thinking of writing a book. Thank you Mary B. Because I'm going to sleep today after reading this book with all these beautiful feelings in my heart.
Update: I highly recommend read the first book before you read this one folks!
One of my biggest pet peeves there is in this book.. Slut shaming women. It doesn’t matter that this woman slept with a married man, why is it always the woman that gets to be called a slut? Why not the man? He’s the one who broke the vows! He’s a man slut! It takes two to tango and she wasn’t the married one. I’m not defending her especially if she knew that he was married which I don’t know if she knew. I’m not talking about the hero but the heroine’s husband, she wasn’t the first woman he cheated with so why oh why women authors have the need to slut shamed women it’s beyond me! And I don’t even care about him I just care about the slut shaming.! So I’m out. And I don’t care about safety. I didn’t even make it pass the second page!
This deserves 1000 stars!!!!! Thanks to my friend Ana, I loved, loved, loved these main characters & their love story! It goes to show that if authors actually listened to readers and don't use the usual stupid trope, they'll often come up with something that people actually enjoy and shelve out their hard earned money!
This heroine and Hero, are awesome! No doormat, twit, manho's or morons here! I don't know if I ever truly read any decent characters like this ever. Loved everything about it - especially how heroine wished she had met & had her kid with Hero and not her douche of an ex!
And speaking of which, for anyone that knows me, I often don't like the single parent trope - especially if the kid(s) are not with the main MCs, however, this one I didn't mind because heroine is not stuck on her ex & doesn't have this big love for him in which Hero would come out second best. And what's up with that btw? Why do Hero's always have that big love before meeting heroine but the opposite for heroines? (not that I mind in this case...Lol).
Not only does it have amazing characters and a sweet lovestory that gives you all the "feels", but it has humor as well!!!!
Thank you Ana!!!!! 😘💋🥰
"I understood that she’d been through a lot, but I believed her when she said that she wasn’t still hanging onto what her ex put her through. If I was in her shoes, given the type of man that I was, I would probably be focusing on my kid, too. That said, I was the guy wanting to date her, so it was different".
“Hello?” Tabby said into her phone. “Hi, I wonder if you could help us out, please? My sister had a chicken sized…”
“Cow sized,” I interrupted, getting a glare from her.
“Ok, excuse my language, but she had a big ass mother fucking spider that was the size of a farmyard animal in her house tonight, and we think it was a Brown Recluse. We actually had to shoot it,”There was another pause. “Yes, with a gun.” Pause. “And a bullet, yes.” After the next pause, she lost her patience. “Yes, it was shot by a gun with a bullet. Did you not hear me say it was the size of a farm animal?”
Thank you, you big assed arachnid bastard.
“Duh, you just poop the baby out instead of your cooter becoming a baby shooter. I’ve been there, I know these things.”
“She’s going to be Olivia Tabitha Beauregard,” he said through his smile. “And you’re going to be Josephine Pear Beauregard.”
Yes, my middle name was Pear after the fruit. Wylda had decided that I had to have a middle name when she was completing the forms in hospital after I was born, and had seen a pear on her lunch tray, hence the strange middle name. Inspired, right?
“Can we not say my full name out loud?” I asked. “I’ll go by Jose Beauregard.”
Tilting his head to the side, he thought about it and then shook his head. “Nope, can’t do it, my little pear. In fact, I think that’s what we should name our first child, followed by Apple. It fits with Olivia perfectly if we shorten her name to Olive and not Liv.”
I wanted to say he was joking, but I suspected that he really wasn’t.
We are in book 2!!! And I gotta say I enjoyed this one better then the last book.
Jose and Ellis have been dancing around each other since book 1, jose has sorta friendzone Ellis because of all the drama her ex husband caused and the demons in her mind. But that never stopped Ellis from being a great guy. He was patient with Jose and loved her daughter Liv like his own. I saw and gushed how much of a dad he was.
It was a slowwww-ish insta but few dares had Jose finally giving Ellis a shot. Their romance was so good. Their couple crazy moments.. I also love the bonding between Jose and Tabby still.. amazing sisters.
We get more secondary charas I cant wait to read about like Ellis sister Rose and her bf? Rhoul..
Tiny slight ow dramaa (ex), no cheating, secondary charas, sexy times, no virgins
Recommend- yes Cover-⭐⭐⭐
Slowish-insta Single parent 26h/31H Mentions abuse No condom Safe Hea Epilogue

This was cute. The H obviously loved the h from the get go. She had a past that made her reluctant to start a new relationship. She was pretty awesome imo she wasn't hung up on her past. There was the slight OW drama with his ex being the cliche crazy girl, however H let h conflict her with some hard truths. Pretty great scene. I will advise if poop jokes aren't for you then skip. Overall a very enjoyable read.

My rating reflects the “it was a me problem than a book problem.” It was funny and cute and definitely safe to read. I just didn’t mesh with the writing. As I was reading it, I felt the writing was a little chaotic. I’m not sure how to describe it...I almost felt like it was bouncing off the walls. I had to pause several times to get my bearings. It could have been just my mood...who knows!! Other than that, the Plot line was great. Loved the characters.
I love this series and the characters make me laugh so much!! I almost peed my self with drunk Jose. This book was too funny. I cant wait for the next one!
Mary's books just keep getting better and better. I'd been looking forward to this book since being introduced to the couple in the Cheap Thrills Book 1.
I laughed so hard I woke my husband up, then just as he'd gotten back to sleep I started crying so he brought me tissues. Every sentence was written to wring out as much emotion as possible.
If you have never read anything by this author, start with book 1 in this series, then when you've read this book, cho and read everything else she's ever written. You won't be disappointed. If you have read this authors work before, you know it's going to be brilliant, so just enjoy the ride.
It's a fantastic love story that blossoms over time. Though you know what the outcome it's going to be, it's written so beautifully that you can't help but get swot up in the romance of it all. I'm just going to swoon at the proposal and say no more.......
I wish I could have access to more stars for this one.
I'm so in love with this author's writing style. Mary can brighten my day..... If you are having a bad day and need some humor and in need of laughing your butt off then pick up one of her books. Just a WARNING though it could cause spittage, snorting laughter. And that ladies and gentlemen is a dang good book. And every book from this author does that for myself. Ok I'm done rambling.... I freaking floved this book. Ellis well what can I say I want an Ellis!! Seriously he has to be the dreamiest male character to date that I've read about. He took everything in stride and the description of him is my dream man. Jose was an amazing female. Everything she went through and how strong she was, was an amazing feat. And lil Olivia stole the show for sure. We also get visits from my beloved characters the Townsend's throughout. I seriously abso-freaking-lutely unequivocally recommend this author and books!! Thanks Mary from the bottom of my heart for keeping me laughing and entertained. Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
Five big stars for this!!! This is book two in the Cheap Thrills Series and it had me gripped from page one! Jose was dealt a really crappy hand in book one but dealt with it with style and grace. And Ellis had a front row seat to it all. In fact he wove himself into her life as well as Liv's, he was going to do all he could to show her that she could always trust and count on him. But she is determined to do it all on her, to surround her daughter with laughter, positivity. I double dare you to read this without shedding a tear and melting your heart! Honestly, this author makes you feel everything!! I have laughed, cried and well.......not sure I can print that here!! But these people, yeah, so not calling them characters because they are my family!! These people get under your skin and burrow into your heart!!
You can always rely on a 5* story from Mary b Moore, I fell in love with Ellis & Jose in the first book from this series & their story did not disappoint. It had the humour, the Townsend's, family love & loyalty and the most adorable little girl. You would be crazy not to read this book but fair warning you will look like I crazy person when you can't help but laugh out loud 😂
Shout out to Mary B Moore I love this book I cried a few times giggled and belly laughed at this book I absolutely loved this book Ellis and Jose deserved each other so much my heart broke for Jose but she got HEA so excellently written love how the other people for in it so will you have to read ladies you did it again Mary xx
This book was a non stop laugh . A great fun thrilling rollercoaster read, filled with love, laughter and heart melting moments. This book made my heart happy and brighten my day. Wonderful read.
Do not finish This is even sillier than the 1st in the series. The joke attempts were so juvenile even childish that I was feeling 2nd hand embarrassment for the author. Even worse, the book doesn’t have real MCs. There are so many other characters in the spotlight you lose track of the story. That’s the female mc baby that imho is the main character. Ridiculous. Every grown man in the book fell in love over hills with the baby. The male mc (who’s not the father) felt an instant connection with the baby when she was born. And he didn’t like anyone else to hold the baby. Every man wanted to hold the baby, was worried about the baby, wanted to take care of the baby. It came to the point where the baby was sick with a common cold, they took her to the hospital, the male mc asked for the baby to be seen by 2 doctors and the town sheriff announced through the radio to the other officers in town that the baby was sick. This book is a mess. Tiresome. Ridiculous. Childish. And the writing style is not for me. Cutting my long. Regretting I paid for it

I loved this story of Jose and Ellis. First, I love stories about tattoo artists where they aren't bad boys or mc. I also love stories where love isn't a question, but it's how they get there that's important. I knew after reading Fireball where this story would end and loved every second of finding out how it happened with feel good and funny moments along the way. If you like a good love story that'll make you laugh and feel good, along with some very sexy times then this is for you.
Soo really enjoyed this book Ellis is honestly my favorite. I liked that it really didnt have too much drama or some big obstacle that they had to over come because some times that stuff can be so predictable and played out. Jose also didnt spend half the book denying Ellis and her feelings for him thank God because that also feels played out. The book had alot of comedy in it which was also great. It just had a little to much inner dialogue for me so I found myself skipping a page or two but even with that I really enjoyed this book
Ms Moore can certainly write a story that has the ability to pull you into her character's world and have you completely engrossed in their lives from the very beginning of the book. I loved Jose and Ellis' book. The secondary characters that you meet in the first book in the series as well as others help to make Living On a Dare so good. I can not wait to read more of her books.
I absolutely loved this book. The dialogue between the characters was great, it made me laugh quite a bit. I loved the interaction between all the characters. The only drawback for me was the many inner dialogue tangents the characters went on. To me many of them were unnecessary.
The writing style just isn’t working for me. I don’t know if it’s because I’m reading this as a standalone but I find the story very hard to follow. It’s written in dual pov but there’s so much jumping around with the time skips I feel a bit lost. There’s also too much telling rather than showing for my likings that it’s hard to even feel invested in the story or characters.
Laugh out loud feel good funny! I loved this book from start to finish. It has everything I could ask for, sassy women, hot men , cute kids and lots of chemistry
I loved this book it was funny and romantic Jose has had a hard life having a horrible mother and husband . She moves on with raising her daughter and with Ellis who fell for her at first sight always there for her it’s only natural she starts to feel the same . They have ups and downs on the way though .
Jose and Ellis ❤ I love them. This book is seriously funny. The things that come out of Jose`s mouth are ridiculous. This book is worth the read. The build up to their relationship isn't surprising since you got to see it start in Tabby and Dave's book. Read it you love it and laugh your butt off while you're at it
