“I don’t belong to the streets, Riot. I belong to you.”
When I tell you Realm wasn’t nothing to play with, 🗣️HE WASNT NOTHING TO PLAY WITH!!! This was such an amazing story!! 😩😩 Grey, the talent you possess is unreal! This lady has a way with words that just captures your soul and holds it hostage.
Riot is a chemist that believe in a natural way of living. She’s living on acres of land that’s she’s turned into her own oasis. She’s your solar panel, food growing, toothpaste making, green house aficionado. She’s very much living “off the grid” but with a modern twist. Suffering from anxiety due to past trauma she ensures that she only surrounds herself with situations where she’s able to maintain control of what’s happening around her. Well her control is challenged when she gets a call from Realm seemingly out of the blue.
Realm is BDE through and through! He commands attention and it’s given without a second thought. Amongst his many talents, he’s the top marijuana distributor in Channing. After having to “handle” his last chemist he is drawn to the talents of Riot and knows she’s the perfect woman for the job. With much convincing she agrees to help him get his crop back in tip top shape!
These two had undeniable chemistry and I LOVED this story so much. I don’t want to give much away but after you read it let’s talk about it 🤣🤣….. the twist at the end 🤯🤯🤯 caught me all the way off guard! I did not see that coming at all and didn’t like how it abruptly ended. I needed like 5 more pages to see that through to the end. 4.5 ⭐️’s only because I wanted more from that ending
The ending was really unexpected and threw the story off in my opinion. If such a bombshell was to be included, there should have been more of a resolution and I think more follow up was needed. Beside that, I loved this story about healing and opening oneself up to love. Riot really goes through a journey and Realm is right there to help her through it. 4/5
This was a cute lil read!🥰 Lil Queen Mina stole the show!! She was hilarious 😂 and so sweet and brave. I loved ❤️ the characters and their names!! They just feel so effortlessly for each other. Relay was patient and soooo caring!! Riot deserved the happiness she found with Realm! As I go they get catalog, I am falling in love with everything Grey writes!!!!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is the first novel that I have read by Grey and I was very pleased with this read.
This story was something that was unique and most definitely different especially in the urban fiction and black romance genre's. It was a great read and has me looking forward to reading more novels by Grey.
I give this book four stars! This book ended up almost being a five start read for me, only reason that it didn't make the 5-star is because I feel the ending was a bit abrupt/fell a little flat.
Let me start off by saying that this book was something special. It was something very different and refreshing to me. I not only did I love the characters, but I loved the incorporation of the Garden and big of a roll it played in the whole story, and how much it affected Riot and who she was as a person.
I found Riot to be a character that is one of a kind. I have not read about a character much like her before and she left a big impression on me. I found it so interesting that she was so confident (in her body anyway), seeing as she liked being nude, yet she was still so insecure. Of course her past played a lot into why she was insecure, but I just found myself wanting to learn more about her. I loved how intelligent and knowledgeable she is, and just love her.
One thing that did bother me about Riot was that many times when she interacted with Realm, I found her to come off quite childish even though she was twenty-eight. I get that Realm was older than her, and because of her past trauma she lacked experience, but it seem a little too childish and naive.
When it comes to Realm, I loved that man and he has made his way into my top ten book baes of all time. He was a man man (this has become a theme for a lot of my book bae's lately). He was a lover, protector, provider, and he loves so hard. He knew what he wanted and wasn't hesitant about letting Riot know that. Another thing that I really loved about him, was the way that he took his time with Riot. Making sure that he did his best to not make her uncomfortable and patiently waited until he took that next step with her, even when she was basically begging for the dick lol. He was the best.
I absolutely loved the relationship that he had with his daughter. He definitely was doing his best to make sure that he kept his daughter out of harms way the best way that he could and it loved him even more for that. I am a big sucker for a good daddy chile.
Realm Eisenhower is a freaking protector, and I absolutely loved that about him in every aspect. We learned that very early on that he would always do the right thing.
Now let's talk about this ending though, because whew chile! I did not fucking see that coming. I loved the books, so very much, but I feel like it had ended very abruptly. It was like, "It was him? Say less, I'll take care of it... *Makes call* Done, now let's go back to the party." And I was left like, "That's it?"
Not to say that it ended bad, I just wanted more.
All in all I loved this book, it was great, and has officially put Grey Huffington on the map for me.
Make sure ya'll check out this book and the rest of her work.
I’m so hurt. I LOVED this book, but the ending killed it for me. It ended so abruptly. We have no explanation for what causes Riot’s change of heart, no true resolution to her past and present colliding. It feels like the author got bored of the story and slapped the words “the end” rather than truly resolving the story.
This book is good. I must say my mouth was open a lot and had me looking crazy. Riot story, the daughter story, and the ending will have you catching flies if you’re not careful. Grey you are absolutely amazing with the pen.
This book had so much potential. And it was good. I flew through it and was mad when it ended so abruptly. It had so many editing issues. But the bones of the story were amazing and I loved the characters. And despite only rating it 3 stars, I would read a follow up to this in a heartbeat.
Idk what to say, besides this book was phenomenal. Riot, Realm & Mina lil smart as* lol i loved each of these characters for different reasons. Loved Realm for taking on the responsibility of being a father to Mina. Loved Riot for finally opening up to love. Loved Mina for being so resilient. Most of all, i loved the love shown amongst these two lovers!
Wish it was more. Lol Sad it’s over, but thanks for this! 🙌🏾
This one was hard for me and I wasn’t invested in the story that much until I got to like 120 pages in. It really took off about 140 ish and I was shocked out my skin lol. The ending was good but overall I wasn’t impressed with the story. I do like the way Realm took care of Riot’s trauma.
But I gotta say this first - the endings of Ms Grey always leave me hanging and rarely do we get an epilogue. This book’s ending whooshed out and left me saying wait a minute and wondering what happened and if something happened to the two other most important people in his life at the hands of that man. That’s the only reason why I want to take a star because death is final but trauma lives on as we saw with Riot. Maybe I can just assume that nothing happened to them. But I gave the book all 5 stars because her writing had me fully engrossed in this story.
Riot was broken and created a world that she could function in on her terms with her rules. She had control of her life and took many precautions to ensure she didn’t lose it over herself, her space and her choices. A past trauma caused her to be this way. Realm was a man of means who was accustomed to having things his way. If you couldn’t accommodate his wishes then you were forced out of the way, permanently. He kept his personal life close to his chest and no one knew anything about it. He wasn’t a person who let anyone in. He had a trauma of his own and this was the result of it. These two cross paths on a business deal but collide at the opportunity for something more.
“I have the kind of bruise that never lightens and consecutive bad days that only heighten. Every day I'm in need of something stronger. Something stronger than weed, someone stronger than me. Something or someone godly enough to save me.”
First read from this author, will not be the last. I am so emotional after this story! Here are two beautiful flawed souls, that find perfection together. Was not sure in the beginning what was up with Riot. After hearing her story, my heart cried for her, and then smiled at how she has taken her life back, the only way she knew how. Realm! This man is still such a mystery, and a hell of a man! How he found Riot, and knew she could help him. He saw right through her facade, and made her tell him her story. He was ready to jump in and handle anything and anyone, who had wronged her. Their journey to love was a slow burn, as they both had demons to conquer. Wow! Finding out the backstory about Mina and the woman who birthed her, was heartbreaking! That little girl been here before! Her maturity, and how well spoken she was at 6 years, was amazing! Realm had really gone through some serious trauma in his life. Riot was just the way of 🌞 needed to brighten his life. Was so worried when the truth came out, that Riot would run for the hills. She gave him hell for a bit, but she couldn't stay away. Realm calmed her, helped her overcome her fears and showed her love. Didn't want it end, as I wanted to see what happens. Great read! 👍👍👍
So, I picked up The Realm of Riot Thimble by Grey Huffington because, well, during the summer she posted that it was the book we had to read in preparation for Rugger this fall. I’d already devoured Chemistry, Rather, and Priest (shoutout to Rather and Priest, by the way — chef’s kiss), so I figured, why not give it a go?
Did I think the ending was a bit rushed? Yeah, a little. It didn’t give me the same feels as Rather and Luca (seriously, I’m still obsessed with those characters), but honestly, it was a quick, fun read. It was nice to return to Channing and catch up in Dolce too — I missed that world!
One thing I loved was the dynamic between Realm and Riot. I appreciated how patient Realm was with Riot. Riot really needed that healing, and it was refreshing to see Realm be so understanding and kind in helping her through it.
At the end of the day, this was a solid, satisfying read that hit the spot for a quick palate cleanse. Not my absolute favorite in the Huffington Universe, but still very enjoyable. I’d give it three stars.
This story was so deep and beautiful, and I'm in love with Realm and Riot. Both of these characters and their back stories truly touched my heart. And Realm's daughter, Mina--everyone has that one child in the family who is wise and mature beyond their years. Even her back story is a bit tragic. But I must confess that I wish the story had at least one or two more chapters that let me see the results of Riot finally getting justice for what she suffered. And I also wanted to see Riot meet Ree. But I loved how Realm was a man of his word. He made a promise to Riot, and no matter the circumstance, he kept it. No hesitation.
I loved that this was a real life romance with imperfections. Don’t get me wrong reading is definitely an escape for me, but after a while the stories began to become predictable. Not this book, Grey delivered happily ever after with a real and relatable situation like only Grey can. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending but that’s because I was craving more of what happened next. I wonder is there a next chapter for this family. Either way Grey strikes again!
I really love the man that Realm is and the he was the healing balm that Riot and Mina needed to heal from the wounds of the past. Not many men will love and treat a child that's not biological theirs but Realm loved Mina with his mind, heart, and soul. Riot was violated as a teen and the after effects carried into her adulthood but Realm was patient and loved her through her pain and growth. The book kind of abruptly ended after the acknowledgement of Uncle Dame being Realm's attacker and it left the desire for more.
Riot Thimble was an earthy, chemist, loner suffering with a tad bit of agoraphobia. Realm Eisenhower was a layered individual that came into Riot's life at the perfect time. I loved Realm's relationship with Mina and how sassy she was. She was such a cutie! I also liked how Realm took his time with getting to know Riot. I really like how this story unfolded and how we even got closure with Riot's sexual trauma. Good story!

Riot Thimble was intelligent very beautiful who had endured a tragedy at the age of 16. Meeting Realm Eisenhower pulls her back to life and what he is offering she an not resist physically and mentally. Realm cannot believe how he’s falling for a Riot. It will his secrets tear them apart? I loved Realm’s life with his daughter. I wanted more of this story but I loved it!
I eventually got on board with Riot and Realm. At first I didn’t like Realm for Riot. She seemed too fragile for someone like him, but things meshed in the end. Realm’s big secret could have been handled much better but without it there would have been no conflict, so I get it. Again, GH writes for the pleasure of confusing the hell out folks and making details obscure to the point of confusion. Still liked the book though, so I guess it works.
I loved "the realm of riot thimble!" Realm Eisenhower was ALL alpha dawg and a bag of chips! Riot Thimble was EXTRAORDINARILY unique! Together, they were the perfect couple! AND THEN THE BOOK ENDED! Come on, Huff! You could have gone on for twenty or thirty additional pages with Realm just taking out the trash! I feel that they deserve a sequel! Five fantastic gold stars! Maybe when Mina Eisenhower grows up, her love story can be told!
I enjoyed this story. I enjoyed Realm and Riot. Other then his major screw up, which he remedied, Realm was exactly what Riot needed and vice versa. ...... the situation regarding Mina was sad and I understand Realm's dilemma but you can't leave something like that unsaid. The abrupt ending to this story is why it got 4 stars. Another chapter or two is definitely needed.
This book took me on a journey. Riot is my girl! Her energy is everything and that Realm….his strength, his protective nature, his presence…he’s a dream! My only hope is that Grey writes a follow up because I feel like I was left with a little bit of cliff hangers or rather, questions that need answers. If you want to feel all the feels, this book is highly recommended.
This was such a good read! Heavy on the feels. Reciprocation of emotions, peace, and yearning for each other. I love when love finds you in its own right, no searching, just shows up. Realm simply being open to Riot's way of life is just beautiful. Mina tickled me something serious the whole novel. Uncle Dame left me so angry. I would love to read more about their story. Definitely a five-star read!
Great read! Very emotional story of two broken people.finding peace in each other. Demonstrating how paramount trust is when you lived without it. The title playing on the names of the hero and heroine is so cute and clever. Riot did it all.to build a life of peace and Realm built his life of protection. Together they cultivate an attraction into love... This story developed into something beautiful. The ending left me wanting more. Maybe I just wasnt ready to say bye?
I. Need. A. Part. Two. There’s so much more to develop between Realm and Riot. Seeing them together with left me feeling unfinished (in a good way). Selfishly I want to be a witness on their journey but for the time being this book was very worth the read. As always Grey I can’t wait to read more.
I loved the journey with Realm and Riot. Realm's daughter was a lil hot 🔥 mess, but I loved her. I want more of them and baby gurl. I'd like to know more about her healing, more about their future even the sister and how they meshed as a family. I know they'll be awesome
I loved this book. You have to read it. Grey does not miss with the characters. I love the way the characters are built. I don’t think I will ever forget this book. I was rooting for these two! Also I wasn’t expecting that ending. Stop reading this review and go read the book
This was a fast paced read. It was so intriguing to read as Realm fell in love with Riot. Mina was hilarious. I found myself chuckling out loud at some of the things she said to her dad. I love how Realm was able to express his love for all the women in his life and would protect them at any cost.
I actually picked this book thinking it was part of the Grey Series...the name Riot fits right in, right? The 1st 1/3 of the book I was confused about where all the other characters where. When I realized this was not part of that series, I chilled out and just enjoyed the book.
This is a short read and Grey Huffington has done it again with her characters. I love Riot and Realm hopefully this will become a series of a longer book. Miss Mina made me smile she’s a witty 6 year old and adorable and her father’s pride and joy. This definitely a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve always enjoyed reading Grey’s work. The poetic flow of words and the intensity of that poetic flow is always on point. I enjoyed the healing love between Riot & Realm. I liked hearing familiar names and places within the GH universe. This was a really great read!
