Zenitsu gets on my nervessss. I hate reading his parts. It's not even funny it's just annoyingggg.

I like how the author gives mini backstories to the demons and how they appreciate the care Tanjiro takes with them after he defeats them.

The anime is slightly better with this portion of the story. The Tsuzumi Mansion is better with the eerie drum noises as opposed to just reading the onomatopoeias.

I still really enjoyed this one though. It’s the introduction of two of the best characters in the series and it’s the start of the squad.

Also, I love Zenitsu but being made uncomfortable by several men recently has changed my perspective on his behavior. Now all of the scenes where he tries to get girls to marry him make me uncomfortable. :/

"That man is a coward. He's always afraid."
"Shut up! You bitch! Shut up now!"
"Do you know the reason why demons can't live together? And why demons kill each other? He only gathered the demons together to prevent himself from being attacked. You are only being manipulated."

You can say all you want about Demon Slayer, but you can't deny that the author knows how to tell a story. I am sure that I pointed that out already, but I need to praise the author for his 'show, don't tell' skills. We're not told that Tanjiro's persistent and Nezuko's strong - we've been shown that. We're not told that Tanjiro has a pure and kind-hearted nature, Zenitsu is a coward and Inosuke is crazy - we've been shown that. It's all in the smallest of moments that didn't need to be there, but are there, maybe not just for the sake of the main characters, but also for the sake of their opponents - the demons who are supposed to be enemies that need to be slayed, yes, but are also portrayed as the lost souls who had been awfully wronged in their previous lives and awfully manipulated in their current lives.

"I can do it! I can definitely do it! I am an accomplished man! Nevermind my broken bones and all that, I can still do this! I can still fight!" [Tanjiro]

I can't explain enough how much I love Tanjiro's kind-hearted nature. He's one of the most pured anime MC's I have ever seen. He's so gentle and nice when it comes to other people, especially children. He's calm and collected in every situation, being brave and persistent in every fight, no matter what state he's in. He is the type of person who wouldn't give up, ever. He would get up and keep on fighting, over and over again, until the moment of his last breath.

"Tanjiro... Tanjiro, are you listening? You will protect me, right? You will definitely protect me, right?"
"Zenitsu. There is something I must apologize to you about. Actually, my ribs and leg both have fractures that haven't healed yet due to my last battle. So..."
"Ehhh?! Why do you have bone fractures! How do you have bone fractures! If you have bone fractures, who's going to protect me! I'm going to die!"

Let's talk about Zenitsu right now, shall we? It's been a while after I finished watching the anime, and honestly, I kind of forgot how annoying Zenitsu used to be. Maybe at some point I got used to it and didn't even blink an eye on his shenanigans, but I'm back to gritting my teeth because of him. There is such a big gap between the characters of Tanjiro and Zenitsu, it's actually incredible. They are the total opposites of each other, and that was intentional, I'm sure, but that's not a good thing, considering how Zenitsu's character never really changed (but that's something to talk about in a different review). There are the small moments where Zenitsu stands up, like him protecting the kid from a demon or him protecting Nezuko's box from Inosuke, but these aren't enough for me to change my mind about his character. He's a coward, and that's fine. He's a crybaby, and that's fine. Truly. But that's all he is (until he falls into a coma), and it's something I have trouble accepting.

P.S. don't even get me started on his annoying tendency to shout every five seconds, even in a place he definitely shouldn't be shouting to not attract any attention *sigh*

"Stop messing around! The demon is right there!"
"I don't care!"

Inosuke though, it's not as annoying as Zenitsu is. I admire his will to fight and his recklessness, he reminds me a lot of Zaraki Kenpachi from BLEACH. But what I don't like about this kid is the inability to 'read a room'. What I mean by that is that he does not take into consideration the situation and place he's in, he just acts without thinking. That's not necessary a bad thing, but it's frustrating when a character who's in a dangerous place, full of demons, is attacking a potential ally instead of going after the demons (who he was after anyway, but for some reason decided to attack Tanjiro). I know that he loves fighting, but it doesn't mean that he should cross swords with everyone he meets, especially not in the time of danger. And I didn't like how little of caring he had about the little girl Tanjiro had been trying to protect.

But I find interesting that both of Tanjiro's meetings with his future companions started with a conflict (with Zenitsu over the girl he was trying to marry and with Inosuke over the little girl's wellbeing).

Anyways, the story ended up with Tanjiro seeing Zenitsu getting beaten up by Inosuke for protecting Tanjiro's box (where Nezuko is). It's not the best start of their friendship, by any means, but I know that things will be resolved quickly and these three will start their demon slayer adventure together. I cannot wait for what's to come, I'm especially anticipating the meeting with the Hashiras (I know that it's gonna happen soon)! ☺️

تاتى المواجهة الاخيرة فى هذا العدد بين تانجيرو و كيوجي لتختم هذا العمل بنهاية جدية للغاية و قتال ممتع .

Zenitsu and Inosuke make this story ten times better already. That last scene where Zenitsu was protecting Nezuko’s box while getting kicked around by Inosuke?? I love them both so much, they’re so silly.

This was really good as the fight between Tanjiro and two of the Twelve Kizuki continue we fid more about them and Muzan's curse and the way Tanjiro defeats them is awesome and then he meets Tamayo and Yashiro and forms some strong bond with them before departing for his next mission where a boy and a girl are there and their brother Kiyoshi is trapped and also he meets Zenitsu and Inosuke so its about him trying to fight these demons and gathering his learnings and defeating it and its such a unique type of demon and battle and the ending just brings out emotion from you and makes you feel for it, Tanjiro's compassion <3.

This volume does the fights epicly as usual while also adhering to the narrative it has built and continues to showcase new demon types and expands on the roster and shows the personality of each character really well. Loved it.

I really enjoyed this volume. The Introduction for Zenitsu was hilarious and I already love him so much!

By the other hand, for Inosuke was more savage (and I mean he's really like a Boar) but he's very strong!

I'm so excited to keep reading this manga💙

Can't believe I'm writing this, but for once, the anime is better than manga ;)
It's still a lot of fun, don't get me wrong, but the art in manga is somehow scratchy and sketchy compared to the fabulous visual feast of the Demon Slayer anime. It's nice to see all those characters again, though!

I can see why Demon Slayer is such a popular anime & manga series. It’s the perfect blend between classic anime fighting styles, and some monster-horror elements. It’s making me want to revisit old Shonen Jump series that I read and watched years ago, of course, Tokyo Ghoul and Death Note, sure that I will one day.. but for now I want to focus on new series (to me) because I have gotten properly back into anime and manga again!

Nezuko is best girl and I wish she featured in this more! Tanjiro is still mastering his abilities as a demon slayer. During this volume, he is up against two demons of the Twelve Kizuki that directly serve the demon responsible for so much death and destruction, Kibutsuji.

Koyoharu's style is becoming slicker, with better defined frames and motion within them. I am becoming fonder of his drawing style - bodies and faces especially. I can't help but notice that some scenes in this volume were extremely challenging.
I like the the characters have their internal monologue, often seemingly plain and repetitive, but feeling quite realistic. This is also maintained in the anime.
In this volume though I really disliked the Tsuzumi Mansion arc initially and I think that if I hadn't seen it in the anime 1st, I wouldn't have been able to appreciate what was going on as clearly. I enjoyed Zenitsu freaking out as he does in the anime though. I recall reading somewhere that he was designed to reflect a normal person's reaction (i.e. the reader) if they were to realistically wind up in the manga story. I liked the introduction of the "boar character". This trio is quite unique and yet homogenous in the anime world so far. It gets close to Yu Yu Hakusho, although that one's a legend in itself that nobody can rival.
I can't help but identify the irony when it comes to the difference between the main character and his message, and the struggles of the author. I can't help but imagine that Tanjiro's monologue is a constant monologue in the author's mind too.
I like that the story is making me think and appreciate things in a different angle.

Enjoyable read.

The author sure knows how to end the book. All the cliff hangers were great. Hooked, I always wanted to read the next one immediately.

Sadly, to be honest, I don’t like this volume.
I think the story was a bit simple and shallow. And, up until this point, repetitive. I understand it’s the work of demon slayers to move on to next jobs over and over again but I donno, with only 3 missions, it already feels repetitive for me. Adding more drama or depth to the storylines or characters might help I think.

Moreee than anything, “Zenitsu”. He absolutely turned me off. I dare say that I don’t like the volume and have no plan to continue the series any time soon, mostly because of him. Seriously, he might turn into an interesting character ,a great swordsman later on but I couldn’t care much at this point because his whining now was wayyyy too much. It was too childish and ,I feel sorry saying this but, annoying. Really. It’s incredibly irritating.

I think if you don’t like Zenitsu, you might feel something like me but if you do, he could be cute and funny and you sure gonna love this volume, so it depends.

I love the last page though, like I said, the author sure knows how to end the book. Nailed it every time.

Another really solid adventure into this kind of disturbing demonic world.

Tanjiro defeats the evil creatures from the previous volume but as he embarks on a new quest he meets another demon slayer. This one is scared of his own shadow but he follows Tanjiro anyway because a sister and brother are scared to enter a home that stole his brother. So Tanjiro enters but will he come out? Or will a new demon and a psycho demon slayer prevent him from saving those who need saving.

One thing I love about this series is Tanjiro is a joy as a protagonist. He's always hopeful but also a badass when need be. I really enjoy the fact it stays light hearted at moments but also has some gory scenes that might make your stomach turn. The fights are great and easy to follow as well. The new guy is funny at times but also being scared of everything can be annoying.

Overall, solid stuff. I'm digging this series. Feels like a 90's manga but with a modern twist. A 4 out of 5.

Tanjiro, Zenitzu, and Inosuke are basically the Powerpuff Girls, change my mind.

-The action sequences in this are very disorientating. If I didn't have background context from the anime, I'd be confused.

-The demon just wanted words of affirmation ;___;

I hope Zenitsu gets devoured by a demon in a future volume.

Unfortunately I won’t be continuing this series, at least not for a while. The first two volumes were engaging and had solid artwork to boot. Some of these pages are so covered in sound effects and onomatopoeia that I literally felt my eyes straining to follow the action. I’m also not a fan of the shonen trope where characters word-dump internally and sometimes out loud during action scenes. As the reader, I can apply context to the fight and should be able to understand how the characters are feeling with much, much less dialogue.

There are definitely cool elements to this story and I can see why it’s so popular, but some of the hang ups I have are enough to keep me away.

Also someone should put a bamboo reed in Zenitsu’s mouth please. Anytime he showed up in this volume I cringed.
