Haruka is just your average high school loner, minding his own business and keeping to himself as he makes it through his high school career, until one day—he finds himself being sent to another world alongside the rest of his class! Before he knows it, he’s suddenly face-to-face with the god of this new world, who presents him with a list of cheat skills to choose from…but there’s a catch. It’s first come first served, and his classmates have already beaten him to the punch. Haruka has to make do with what he can get as he navigates his way through this brave new world, all while flying solo!
Haha.
I’m really enjoying this one so far! It plays with all the tropes in a self aware way, and Haruka is an oddball protagonist. His attempt to escape the summoning backfired, but on the other hand he got a ton of (weird) skills that may or may not suck. They certainly interact in unusual ways, and he’s applying them in unconventional manner, like using “packing” to learn any spell he “packs.” He may feel it’s all minor abilities, but he’s living the most comfortably of any of them. If I were the girls, I’d see if he could make clothes instead of wearing my dirty school uniform the whole time…I’m also surprised they so quickly wanted to travel to town instead of relaxing and living safely in his cave for longer. Although maybe that’s his loner status chasing them off? Except he’s going along 😅
The class stayed together remarkably well for such different people. They’re fairly good natured, overall. I love how the otaku were apparently prepared for this and did the best 😆 unfortunately the delinquents seem unreformable, and we now have a sinister someone apparently murdering other students in search of some skill. Is he able to steal abilities? What happens to the guys who got their puppet skills sealed? I’m very curious where it’s heading.
It’s handy that the author can make up skills as needed for Haruka (how the heck do contact lenses mean he can see in a dark forest?? They didn’t imply they were for anything other than normal vision!). It didn’t explain how the servant spell on the bimbos wore off, or whether they learned from him at all in that state. But hey, he has the catch all “luck,” so that should serve to get him out of anything.

As a person who has often dreamed of being whisked off into another world, I found this first volume of "Loner Life in Another World" fairly entertaining. The story follows a loner protagonist who gets sucked into a strange, DnD-style world along with all of his classmates. I really appreciate the humor in this first volume. It's very self-aware, which helps a lot of the otherwise cliche elements of the story be enjoyable. I also like that the protagonist seems fully prepared to take on this fantasy world. It's a minor thing that always bothers me about similar stories when protagonists seem like they have never even considered what it would be like to suddenly be transported to another realm. That problem doesn't exist in this story, and in that way, I find the protagonist in this volume far more relatable. Overall, I think this was a fun read, especially for fans of table-top RPGs.
I have read up to Chapter 239. This is a surprisingly great manga. It's not the usual Isekai trash, even if it does lean into some of the usual tropes. It has a bit of a rocky start, but is very rewarding to stick with. The manga also departs from the light novels and has eliminated all the nasty lewd nonsense... it's (mostly) wholesome.
Haruka does not want to acknowledge the love he has for those around him and always tries to find a way to frame his compassionate actions as ways to further his ambitions. Haruka gets a little more open throughout this series, but still is unable to shed his 'loner mask.' He has never been alone... he purposefully isolates himself. His need to feel worthy is literally killing him, as he is constantly trying to hold the weight of the world upon his shoulders. It'll be interesting to see how his classmates and everyone else he's saved will help him find his way out of this hole he's digging.
Haruka (a true loner) and his entire class are transported to another world where they're equipped with skills to help them survive. Only he's the last to make the transfer, and all the coolest skills are taken. Left with the scraps, he sets about doing his own thing. Except his classmates (even with their snazzy abilities) aren't faring too well. So Haruka is stuck trying to help them out while maintaining his loner status.
Definitely fits the LitRPG category, but it skims the surface of the genre. Feels dumbed down and oversimplified. Kid stuff. (Though it's hardly fair to compare this to a 700+ page novel.) May give it a couple more volumes to see if we move past the basics.
This is actually one of the most entertaining and funnier manga books I’ve ever read. Not only is the humor unique & witty, but the jokes are also tailored very specifically to manga, alternative reality, and video games. I can’t explain it unless you read it for yourself.
This manga was such a page turner that I ended up buying the next three volumes and cannot wait to read more! I love the entire storyline so far and the details about skill development, party members, and leveling up.
Highly recommend this series and it’s probably one of my favorites byfar.
Nice change of pace. Although it has simular isekai tropes the skills make it hard for him to be around others. I will see how this plays out. That servitude skill is gonna be his way to get companions I know it.
Haruka and his class are summoned to another world! Haruka tried to escape the summoning, but didn't make it! Now he is a Loner in another world with leftover skills! Will he survive?
Being a loner is by choice in this. But is it really much of choice when the caliber of other people seems to be so low? Also, a head’s up, there are some hints of surprisingly dark stuff in this.
A fun read, it’s silly and easy to identify with the MC. A creative variation on ‘I got isekaied!” The interaction with god at the beginning was hilarious.
Haruki likes to stay to himself and prefers not to worry about the drama of the groups of other classmates. All of a sudden there's a light on the ground of his classroom and Haruki escapes to the ceiling but is transported with his class to another world. Since Haruki escaped he was transported to a white void and the "god" had to find him. When he was found all the good skills were already taken and the god felt bad so he gave him all that was left. Turns out it wasn't quite as bad as Haruki thought it was going to be. He was able to make a nice home in a cave and survive. He hid from some classmates while out trying to fight monsters and eventually discovers what happens with his classmates. The characters were pretty realistic and it was funny to hear what they tried to do to survive.
Second time reading this volume (first time was online and now I physically have it) Was as fun as I remember, but I also only vaugly remember the series so it's almost like reading it for the first time
