Little did I know that this beautiful vixen is about to jack my world up.

There’s one trinket I want most in the world for my collection and guess who just bought it? Right. Her.

But I’m down to play her games.

I’ve got aces in my pocket waiting for the right moment to strike.

And when I do, the prize I yearn for isn’t a shiny object. It’s my girl.

I could NOT finish this book! It was so bad! I got to 27% and I felt like it went on forever. They weren’t enemies so I don’t get the title. Patrick and Tyson were friends years ago but they weren’t when he got together with Mae. It was so drawn out and I understand they talk about their career/artifacts but my gosh it was so boring. I hope this book got better and maybe it did. I just couldn’t finish it.

This was a good read. Mae and Tyson have known each other a long time. Things get complicated when her brother sells the family business. Plus their family has enough issues as it is. They make it work until something happens and things get rough. Thankfully in the end it all works out for everyone.

I love this author but for some reason this book did not hold my attention. It took me about 3 times as long as normal to get through it.

Mae and Tyson will grab your heart and take you on a romantic roller coaster. She's always been forbidden as the sister of his best friend. But she's the one he wants. Antiquities brought them back together again and things heat up. Competition is fierce and there's lots of drama as he attempts to buy her families business. She's determined to guard her heart at all costs. She's one strong willed woman and has quite a temper and a taste for revenge. It's a cute story that's well written with interesting and likable characters. It's a page turner that's hard to put down. Lots a family dynamics and turmoil that add to the turmoil and drama. Lots of twists in this second chance romance and finally a HEA. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.

Mae, her older brother, Patrick,r and their much younger sister, Hayden, have not had easy lives. Both their parents are addicts. Their father an alcoholic and their mother who both over indulges with drink and drugs. When their father could no longer run the family business Patrick took over, Mae went to uni and then came back to help in the firm with marketing, Hayden being a small child at school. Tyson, Patrick's best friend, and Mae had a secret love affair when she turned 18 and she was heartbroken when he left without a word to her. He'snow a very successful billionaire who goes all over the world finding artifacts that he gets authenticated and displays in his museums. Patrick has kept the business alive but it's not his passion and he reaches out to Tyson's employee, Alex, to see whether he would be interested in buying them out. Mae is furious and hurt when she finds out that Patrick has done this as she loves the work and shares this passion with Tyson. Patrick never knew about Tyson and Mae and they keep him in the dark about them meeting up again. The passion between them is just as explosive and cannot be ignored. Meanwhile all is not well at the family home and Mae 'rescues'Hayden from their parents who are not capable of looking after the 13 year old girl. SO Mae now has Hayden to care for and finding new work for herself as well as secreting carrying on her affair with Tyson. Something has to give! But what is it and what will Patrick do when he finds out about Tyson?? Brilliantly written by the fabulous best selling author, Ali Parker. You will not want to put the book down until you've reached the end. It is compelling with fascinating characters. It is so easy to love Mae, Hayden and Tyson [though he does make me mad when they are in Paris!] There is heartache, Absolute love, romance, teenage crushes and a wonderful ending. I loved reading this book and 'meeting' Tyson, Mae and their family. I received a reader's copy of the book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY" This was such great read the story about the museums and archeological digs for historic artifacts was truly interesting and Tyson Helms is an archeologist science major would go looking for special items.
Mae Kendall and her brother Patrick were good friends of Tyson while in highschool he broke her heart years ago they use to sneak around behind Patricks back his BF at the time then he left without a goodbye leaving her devasted.
Patrick calls Alec who works with Tyson but doesn't know it's Tysons company and that he's billionaire and owns a few museums Patrick wants to merge the family business but Tyson wants buy it outright.
Patrick does sell to Tyson without letting Mae know till after the sale she's royally pi**ed at them both because she wanted to keep the business she loved it but Patrick didn't he wanted a life of his own.
Mae goes to see Tyson at his museum and interrupt his interview with reporter Janet ignoring her she strikes out at Tyson and says a lot of vicious things that ends up in the headlines they've sering one another again but she tells him its over.
Mae gets a call from Benjamin an 8yr old man who own the oldest museum in Philly he can't do it anymore and gas no family but he likes what Mae did and knows turning his museum over to her is the right thing but she says she can't afford it Ben says he's bequeath in it to her cause he knows it'll be in good hand.
Mae and Tyson end up a dig site together spend the night together she leaves before him because she wants an artifact he wants and she's going to have it a little revenge for him taking everything from her.
This is such a delightful entertaining, exciting, captivating, intense heartfelt drama, emotional, betrayal, lies, humor, very hot steamy scenes I definitely recommend I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this story. AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!!

This was another shitty romance. I read romance for a few reasons, and I’m not ashamed to list them. 1 – the chemistry. I like banter, sexual tension, and just the general happiness associated with a good match. 2 – the sex scenes. I would not say I read romance books specifically for the sex scenes, but I do expect one or two. When these scenes aren’t exciting or satisfying, it’s annoying. 3 – the predictable, happy feelings at the end of the book. I’m expecting a happy conclusion, and when that doesn’t happen—I rage.
So… this book had none of these three things and therefore I hated it. One, the chemistry was off. Tyson went from “I don’t date, I don’t want to date, I’ve never loved a woman, not even one” to “Mae turns me on with her smile, I would do anything for her.” This was confusing and came out of the blue. I did not like the 180 he did on everything he had said. It was really out of character and misleading. I also didn’t like the premise. It was boring and weird. There was no chemistry besides a hinted at past. The tension in Tyson wanting to preserve his nonexistent friendship was off and unsatisfying. There was no great banter or things to look forward to. The sex scene, minus his initial lunge, was disappointing and odd. The ending was crappy. I didn’t know this was the first book in a series, and I refuse to pay money to read other trashy books, so now I will forever be wondering about the conclusion to this book while also not caring enough to actually want to read it. What a dilemma.
ALSO! I thought this would be an enemies to lovers, which is what it seemingly is (hello—title?), but that is the exact OPPOSITE of what this book is about. There is no hatred or unpleasant feelings between the two. Only lust and affection and concern. What lies.

The titles is misleading. There is no hate between the leads nor any animosity. They are just weird.

This was extremely boring and Tyson was just plain dumb and Mae was stupid. Such a waste of time reading this book.

This is a second chance trope which I hate with a passion (which should have been tagged so it would have spared me the annoyance) because the reason for the breakup is usually something very dumb. In this case they were young and madly in love with each other, so what did Tyson do? He just up and left, just like that. He didn’t even breakup with her, he just fled.
Why? Because he was a coward.
For what? Because he felt he needed to party and whore around.
I couldn’t even laugh at the absurdity of it all.

So 15 years later they meet again and he wants to try again. He fucks up time after time, it doesn’t even make sense anymore. Mae keeps eating whatever shit he dishes up for her. I hate doormat female characters. And don't forget this chick orgasms at first touch...yikes...no idea what the hell that was, but it was weird as hell.

And let’s not forget about Tyson being an introverted nerd with tattoos, muscles and a private jet who became a billionaire with digging up artifacts for his museum. Sure one can dream. Tyson doesn’t have any background info or family. He fell from the sky, just like that. The only thing we know is he was Patricks friend at some point in life.

Like I said, boring and annoying as hell.

Ali Parker ALWAYS delivers the books we love to love and love to read. Tyson broke her heart once. Will he do it again? You never, I mean never ghost a woman you love. Women have brains that will never forget what you did to them. Mae is the only woman Tyson would ever consider settling down with. Tyson in love with Mae, but she is his best friends little sister. That alone always makes it a no-no. But they’re all adults now so what does it matter? This book is full of family drama, dysfunctional family, a love that has waited for 15 years to finally come together, sibling rivalry, drugs and alcoholism that is enough to tear a family apart. It is lovely to see this book slowly turn from friendship to uncertainty to can we make this work. They are just so perfect for each other in their personal and professional lives. When they make love, you can actually feel it in your heart. They are truly destined to be together. Why are they fighting it?. Mae and Tyson are both so stubborn, even though they give-and-take, they were going to have to give and take some more before they make it to the end of this book happily. Excellent drama. Love the love story like they are tiptoeing around each other. Fantastic ending.

I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for my honest review. This is a wonderful story of a love-hate love relationship between Tyson and Mae. Tyson a self-made billionaire is a museum owner for collectable for ancient Egyptian history. Tyson is interested to merging his museum with another museum, which is owned by his friend Patrick, Mae’s brother. Unbeknownst to Mae her brother sells the museum to Tyson. This is where the hate relationship begins between Tyson and Mae. Going back, Tyson and Mae have known each other for more than fifteen years and loved each other when they were younger. Presently when they are together there is a fierce love relationship that they both do not want to admit. Mae is bequeath a museum from a business owner who has no family to give it to. Mae thus begins her journey as a museum owner of ancient Roman history. This story reflects love, hate, struggling addiction of drugs and alcohol, protective issues by Mae’s brother Patrick, however it brought real life issues to the story. I strongly recommend this book for reading. Of course it does have a happy ending.

I've read many of Ali Parker's stories and enjoy her writing. In this story you've got Mae and Patrick, siblings running their parents' antiquity shop. Then there's Tyson - Patrick's best friend from HS and secret boyfriend of Mae's back in the day - secret because Patrick would not have approved of Tyson being with his sister. Tyson is a self-made billionaire with a penchant for history - he's even got his own museums. When Patrick approaches Tyson's company about merging (not knowing it's Tyson's company), Tyson decides to check out their old shop. Who should he run into? None other than Mae and the chemistry is still there. But it's still forbidden. And he's got secrets - and Mae does not respond well when she feels she's been wronged...and boy does she feel wronged. She is a force to be reckoned when she puts her mind to something. Mae and Tyson have quite the rollercoaster ride of drama and emotions, made more complicated by Patrick, their 13 year-old little sister, and their parents - dad's an alcoholic and mom's a drug addict. Quite the ride as they figure out who really is the enemy.

Very interesting story

The start of this story really worried me because of Mae & Patrick dysfunctional parents leaving their teen age sister vulnerable to alcohol and drugs. She isn't being taken care of by their parents so Mae takes Hayden out of the house and this time, she isn't going back.

Mae walks into the house only to find Hayden didn't make it to school because dad is passed out and mom is stoned. They are all done!

Now there is Tyson Helms, a long friend of Patrick's and Mae's forbidden crush is now a self-made billionaire has plans of his own. He owns several museums and has the opportunity to merge businesses with Patrick. In the meantime, Tyson is wining and dining Mae and invites her on a trip to Israel, they sleep together all the while Mae pours her heart out how much the family business means to her. But, Patrick pulls the rug out from under Mae's feet after he finds out about the trip.

Here is the cliffhanger.....Patrick finds out about the two of them, but it sounds like that isn't a big deal. Mae feels betrayed and she has plans of their own.

Read book 2 to find out what happens next. Happy reading. 😏

This author has the remarkable ability to make characters come to life in my brain. My heart broke for the experiences Mae had gone through. And Tyson’s moral dilemma between his love for Mae and his loyalty to his best friend, her brother, made my heart crack open a little more. In fact, Tyson shows the reader all his vulnerabilities. Mae is a lot more guarded. I’m sure that had a lot to do with why it took me so long to warm up to her. She also has a pretty wide, vindictive Mean Girl streak that I wasn’t a fan of. There was a large section of the book where I got violently upset over the way Mae kept treating Tyson. (It may have been a continuity error in the copy I read, but she knew in advance about everything she was losing her mind over being “blindsided” by.) Though, she had my full support when he made the ultimate in oblivious bonehead decisions during the critical conflict of the book. I was so glad to see them get their happily ever after in the end.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

A solid 3.5 🌟

This is the first book I've read by this author. While I enjoyed the story, it was rather lengthy. I think it goes through lots of details many authors allows you to subconsciously assume. Some of the little details I was unsure of. Like its states that Mae is 28/29, that she first met Tyson about 15 years ago. But how old is Tyson? They dated when she was 15/16, doesn't that out him around 20/21 then? I wasn't too found of Patrick, I think for being the older brother he was rather immature. I think the title is a But misleading as well, they were rivals but I don't think I would ever consider them enemies. They were lovers first and foremost. I did enjoy the characters, Hayden was going through so much with their parents and she was lucky to have a sister to step up for her. While many book boyfriends don't seem to mess up with simple mistakes like Tyson does throughout the story, I think the book is hot honest with it because men do things like that a lot. I enjoyed it overall.

GOOD READ!!!.... Four stars only because...

This was my first book by author Ali Parker and I must say it was a very good book in my opinion. However, while it was a good read and captivating, I gave it 4 stars because it ended with a cliffhanger. I hate those outside of series.

Things were just starting to heat up for me and I was ready to dive nose deep in this book for the rest of my day.

It’s almost as if the book was a teaser to the real story that you have to purchase in order to completely enjoy.

The characters, on the other hand, were ever evolving and I could feel their passion about the things they spoke about and their reasonable motives for doing certain things. Tyson, Mae and Patrick are amazing characters. Their chemistry, history and relationship were felt throughout the entire story.

One of the things that highly played on my mind would be that I don’t quite understand the history between Tyson and Mae... I would have really loved to know what happened between them why they are also deciding that the other is “off limits” besides the Patrick reason.

Other than that, I would highly recommend this book to readers who are more on the mature subtle side as intimacy and profanity are rawly used as other books.

This is by far one of Ali’s best books yet. Mae and Tyson have a history since he was her brother Patrick’s best friend. They had a thing when they were teenagers but it ended when they went off to college.
Now years down the road Patrick and Mae own an antique store together and he secretly sells it to his former best friend Patrick. When Mae finds out she is mad. How will this work out? How will they deal with their feelings and the past now that he’s back?
Ali bring all sorts of emotions with this story! This book has family issues that will break your heart and make you want to smack a few people around. There are several surprises, disappointments and lots of trust issues. Mae and Tyson’s chemistry are electric but can they overcome all that life will throw at them? I was given an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review and this is one book you won’t want to miss out on. Hands down worth 5 stars and then some.

I’m definitely not rating this based on its literary breakthrough 👀

The storyline was super predictable, maybe the title should’ve been “Reuniting with the enemy” and book 2 should be called “Sleeping with the enemy”.

Patrick is a grown ass 33 year old man that everyone seems to paint as a high schooler who won’t let Tyson date his sister. *insert confusion GIF*. He must not have a life of his own to be so obsessed about who gets to screw his sister. I really don’t understand the overprotective siblings trope, that’s just toxic and let’s leave it at that. (Trust me, I have brothers and they are definitely protective of me just not overly so)

Rated it 3 stars because I read it in less than 3 hours and it didn’t require a lot of brain cells, so it served its purpose well. I just needed a book that would be fast to read and super predictable, that’s exactly what I got.

I won’t be reading Part 2, I’m not curious at all about what happens moving forward.

As always a terrific read
Up is down and down is up in this story about Mae and Tyson's romantic roller coaster of a "relationship”. She’s always been the one he wanted, although at times he seems driven to do what will throw a wrench into the possibility. When Antiquities, her family’s business might be for sale because of family problems, he tries to buy it. There are so many ups and downs and back and forths in her life as well as their relationship that at times it doesn’t seem possible. The impossible is possible. The characters are fantastic (it’s fun that we don't like everything they do-makes them more human). The story isn't the least bit convoluted even with all the ups and downs and back and forths. Your emotions with run the gamut from happy to sad, pleased to put off, and thrilled with the final outcome.

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY By Ali Parker
This is a best friend’s little sister story with a big twist. Mae and her brother Patrick are running a small family antiquities business, that Patrick bought from their father. Mae, Patrick and little sister Hayden have not had easy lives, they are the offspring of very dysfunctional parents. Patrick hasn’t seen his friend Tyson for several years. Back in the days of high school, Tyson and Mae were together without telling anyone as they knew Patrick would not like it. When Patrick decides to sell the business without letting Mae know, she is furious. Unbeknownst to them, Tyson’s company is the purchaser. There is still blazing hot chemistry that is combustive between Tyson and Mae. This story is full of angst, drama, chaos, mistakes, betrayal, and bad decisions. They do get the HEA they need. I give this 5 stars.

Sleeping with the Enemy. This book was great! I enjoyed this book! It kept me reading because the characters were believable and captured my attention. Mae is a strong independent woman looking for a chance to make something of herself but realizes the men in her life seem to want to control her. Tyson is Mae's brother's best friend from high school back in her life reeking havic. They can't keep their hands off each other. But they are competitors in the museum world. Mae decides to compete for archeological pieces to put in the new museum she owns against Tyson, but this causes all kinds of problems in the relationship. Mae and her siblings have to deal with issues with their parents that will pull at your heartstrings. This was a very long book. A great read! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. Good but a bit long

All Mae ever wanted to do was work in her family’s antiques store. Despite their parent’s addictions, she has good memories of working in the store. Her older brother, however, has other plans. He wants out and, unbeknownst to Mae, he’s contacted one of the largest museums in Philadelphia to buy him out. What neither of them realizes is that the billionaire that owns the museum is one of their childhood friends. No problem, right?

Billionaire Tyson has clawed his way up to become one of the most successful curators/collectors in the world. He came from nothing and he intends to stay on top. When his assistant is approached by Mae’s brother, he uses the opportunity to revisit the good parts of his youth, which all include Mae and her brother. But what to do about buying the store? Will it come between him and Mae? And what about her brother and the bro code?

A witty romance read

Mae, the Marketing and PR person for the family antiquities business, runs into Tyson, an antiquities billionaire and her brother’s former best friend, outside the family business. As the story progresses the wrong decision creates tension, the past comes back to bite, and proving change is harder than they thought. Ali Parker’s Sleeping with the Enemy is a witty brother’s best friend/second chance romance read. This one tugged and shoved the heartstrings like you wouldn’t believe. I wouldn’t mind seeing Alec, Patrick, and Carrie each getting their own books (pretty please).

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Mae and Tyson's story will grab your attention and your heart from the beginning and keep you flipping pages until the very last one. Mae and Tyson have a history - they secretly dated in high school, he was her brother's best friend. Tyson leaves for college and leaves Mae heartbroken. Fast forward many years later and these two are thrown together again when her brother sells the family business to Tyson. There are twists and turns and so much steam in this story! Mae and Tyson are so drawn to each other - WONDERFUL STORY! I received an advanced readers copy of this book and highly recommend it.
