A woman is found abandoned on the side of the road. Screams of pain rip through the air as she tears her hair out by the roots. Sores on her skin ooze as her flesh is devoured at an unprecedented rate. Then, madness sets in.
In the darkened hallways of an emergency room, a young doctor on call must act quickly. Terrified by what he sees, he makes the call. But he already knows it’s too late.
It has no name or place of origin. It spreads like wildfire. The CDC has never seen anything like it. They have no treatment. Death is imminent. They tried to alert the world, but it was too late. It has been unleashed and worst of all, it’s airborne. Will anyone be able to survive the VIRUS?
3.5 stars. This was ok for me. I think diehard fans of zombie-type stories will have a much better experience than others. I understand that this was a virus and that the infected weren't zombies, but the general idea remained the same. It was written well, the length, pacing, and flow were all on point, so it wasn't a bad read. It's just suited for a very specific audience. I do enjoy the combined efforts of Olivia Marie and Rena Marin, but this just didn't wow me.
The authors do not waste any time getting into the thick of the action in this one, with blood and gore splattered on just about every page. A fast-paced horror novella that will seem especially eerie in the current climate. I'm looking forward to the upcoming sequel, Quarantine.
Seeing these two awesome authors team up was exciting, but seeing the cover of this co-write was even more thrilling. The first chapter was absolutely chilling and I needed answers about what was happening to these people. My anxiety grew with each chapter and new situation. I was so afraid for them and all of the unknowns they were facing together. It was very unsettling mentally, but that just goes to show the expertise of these two incredible authors. Current events made this book extra scary and yet perfect for a stuck-inside reading session. I'm already looking forward to the next book.
Olivia Marie and Rena Marin are great together. They bring the storyline of Jake and Sammy to life. You cheer for the two throughout the book. Now on to the next book. Can't wait to see what's in store.
