Good for a quick read. Protecting Dallas by Krista Wolf is a reverse harem novel. The story is exactly what one would expect, an easy read, with lots of intimate moments. This is a fast-burn contemporary, military, touch her and die, reverse harem romance. There were plenty of steamy scenes which you expect with a reverse harem and a slight danger/suspense plotline as well.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙💜❤️💖 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎 Character development: 🤓😀😘
The heroine:Dallas - her brother Connor was a Navy SEAL before he died. Her parents had died when she was young. One night while sleeping at her home in the Las Vegas suburbs, Dallas suddenly wakes up and knows that someone is in her house, she fights the attackers but there are a bunch of them in her house all at once and some of them are fighting the others. She gets taken and her house is set on fire. She finds out that the three guys that took her served with her brother and they actually saved her from the other guys who were there for nefarious but unknown reasons.
The Hero:Maddox, Austin and Kane - former Navy SEALs who served with Connor. Maddox - The blond haired, blue-eyed leader of the team. Austin - he is tall, dark and handsome. Kane - he is huge, muscular and quiet.
The Story: The guys had been watching Dallas remotely via cameras that Connor set up in her home for over a year, because Connor had asked them to before he died. When the men in black broke into her house, they immediately acted and got her out of there. They knew the guys in black had something to do with Connor’s disappearance and death. Now she had to lay low with the SEALs because apparently the ones after her won’t stop.
I didn’t really like Dallas much at first. She was too sure of herself, too bossy and too unconcerned about her own safety. Granted she knew how to use a gun and was pretty good at fighting back when those guys broke into her house. But it was obvious that they were trained military men that were after her and she was a blackjack dealer. She was definitely not a match for any of them and the three SEALs were able to grab her and basically take her captive. So, she should have been at least a bit more afraid.
Then Dallas talked the three SEALs into letting her go with them when they were doing surveillance on the men who may have murdered her brother and burned down her house, and they let her talk them into it. Stupid in my opinion, especially since they got into a gunfight, though she turned out to practically be a professional race car driver during the car chase. Very believable. Not!
Another thing that really bothered me in this one was the fact that Dallas referred to the guys as her lovers. I hate that term. I mean who, in this day and age calls anyone their “lover” rather than boyfriend or friends with benefits? It just sounds like they are from the seventies or something. There were also some things that didn’t make sense in this story. For one, Maddox said he had a job working for private security, but he never went to it. Austin and Kane were on some sort of sabbatical leave from the SEALs and apparently had been doing nothing but watching Dallas for over a year, yet the guys had plenty of money for decorating their house, getting Dallas all new things when her house burned down, airplane tickets, motels and more.
Overall, the story was good. I liked the whole storyline of the guys and Dallas looking into what got her brother killed and I enjoyed the action scenes. There were a bit too many intimate scenes, though that does sometimes happen in reverse-harem romances, so it can be expected. I just fast forwarded my reading to the end of a lot of those scenes to get back to the action and mystery.
Meh. It was free. There's no real development in any of the characters or their relationships. There was a little drama and suspense, and not as much sex as I would have thought with three guys and one girl.
I’m sorry I hate to give one ⭐️ reviews but if being super nice I’d give it 1.75 at a push.
I really just couldn’t with this.
Dallas was an utter idiot! Literally! She behaves and acts like a brat. Doesn’t think a single action through. Thinks SHE is a bloody navy SEAL!! Like seriously!!!
There was no character development whatsoever.
Even the smut scenes did nothing for me.
The only thing this book has left me with is a feeling of having wasted my time. I’m sorry it just really wasn’t for me
SEALs are great for protection…Dallas is suddenly swept into a hornets nest of lies, military secrets and drugs. Thankfully her Brother's SEAL mates have vowed to protect her. Maddox, Kane and Austin fall head over heels for Dallas before they even meet her. Twists and turns. Love and anger. This book has what you need. Steam 10/10 * Sweet 10/10 * alt 1st POV * RH * HEA
This book was hard to say it had a HEA considering the scene where they watched her brother supposedly get taken out, did not actually show his death. And the way the book kept trying to make it out like there were so many secrets, had the reader hoping and hoping some more that in the end of the book her brother would be found alive somehow. Way too much in the middle junk of the 'mystery' that wasn't very exciting. It seemed to just drag on and on, 100 pages could be removed from this book, some alterations in other scenes and it'd be better. It was cute how they moved to a New Hampshire at the end though. Bit more description in the hot scenes would have been better. It was just alright.
★★★★★ - 2, only because i hate giving bad reviews & 1 feels harsh 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 2 if you're into the worst anatomical descriptions of your life
🗸 - dnf'd at 28% ↻ - nope, won't be re-reading (or re-attempting)
• so cringe. hollow characters, dense mc, snoozefest. • mc is effectively in a safehouse, and decides it's appropriate to decorate it with paint and lamps to fill her time, cos what else is a woman to do? • next thing she's impossibly skilled in dangerous car chases cos plot? • couldn't even figure out which group was who in the beginning • please take an anatomy lesson. begging.
edit: i change my mind. this really does deserve a one star. every time i think back to it i am irrationally angry at this book.
LOVED Protecting Dallas! My first reverse harem (military romance) novel and it GAVE!
The MC.. 'She was stubborn as hell, I'd give her that. Strong-willed and intelligent and unable to talk no for an answer. In short, she was exactly like Connor (her brother). I absolutely love a badass strong female MC and Dallas was everything and more.
"We want you, Dallas," he said, bouncing me gently. "All of us. Every part of us." "You're not just Connor's sister," he murmured. "You're much more than that to us." "And we'd have a Winters on our team again," said Kane solemnly. "Just as we always did."
The dynamic between the three SEALS and the MC was chaotic and messy until they found their rhythm ... 😉 ... and then everything fell into place. The romance was hot, the sex scenes were hotter. Go Dallas, go!
I liked the story line in this book. For me this time around I felt the sex was too much. I also felt that it was more for the men than for Dallas. I did like that they all didn't do this before but it was natural for them to come together like this by protecting Dallas then becoming a family. Also not at one point in time did they use protection or even talk about it. I know it's a book but still it would have been nice if they talked about it. I still feel bad about Connor and wish he was still alive.

I love when the woman is just as strong as the men. Dallas is strong and goes for what she wants. She doesn’t mind the labels. She embraces them and her men. Oh the men are fine as heck too. I loved how they protected her, but still let her be herself and be in control and respected her for her strength. This was a very good read, if you like a bit of kink and strong characters whom defy labels.
This is a first time read of Krista Wolf and a reverse harem and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The 4 main characters were great and the story engaging. I was disappointed with the bonus chapter as it just ended so abruptly and right in the middle of a scene and has left me wanting to know what happens next. Aside from that though I can thoroughly recommend you read this book. I read it on kindle unlimited and will be reading Miss Wolf’s other novels.
The words following words elicited a physical eye roll from me, and absolutely docked points from this book: slit, flower, foamy, womb, and the phrase “oh yeah baby”. The author doesn’t seem to know female anatomy as “soaking in her womb” was mentioned and I ASSURE you that wasn’t happening. The inner-voice of Dallas was annoying and irritated me more than I resonated with it. The guys were hot, but I ended up being more invested in the half-compiled thriller part of this book. And that was half baked at best.

Sorry, but this just didn’t work for me. I enjoyed the first book I read by this author, Snowed In, but it was more of a fun adventure story where a woman lives out a fantasy. This is more of a dark espionage thriller. I thought there would be enough excitement in this that it would be a fun ride, but I found the story difficult to follow which made me lose interest.
We jump right into the action. Dallas startles awake to find a strange man in her bedroom. She attempts to escape and discovers several more men in the house who are fighting each other. She’s kidnapped by three men who reveal that they are Navy SEALs who served with her brother Conner. He was killed 18 months ago, but before he died he asked his friends to watch over his sister.
The bad guys burn down Dallas’ house so she’s forced to stay with the SEALs. They think the attack had something to do with her brother’s death, and they’re trying to find out what really happened to him. Dallas insists on being involved with the investigation. She’s attracted to all three guys, and one night winds up crawling into bed with one of them only to be joined by the other two. The guys agree that they’re okay with sharing and Dallas is all for it. None of them are really able to think about the future though as they try to find the bad guys before they find Dallas.
I went into this book expecting a kind of ridiculous plotline. That’s definitely what I got. There are so many things that made zero sense. To some extent I can ignore that kind of stuff, but I had the worst time trying to follow the mystery storyline. The main characters stumble on to clues at the most convenient times, and the bad guys are cartoon villains. I can’t even begin to explain what actually happened to Conner. I accepted fairly early on that it was probably never going to make sense to me at which point I stopped caring.
I didn’t expect much character development in this book either which is a good thing since there was none. The bigger issue for me was that I didn’t particularly like the characters. Dallas is a bit of a cold, reckless, mercenary character. She definitely has a few too stupid to live moments. My big issue is that she’s also rather self-centered and rarely thinks about who might be hurt by her actions. The guys were blah. I had trouble keeping track of which one was speaking. There was nothing unique about any of them.
Then there’s the relationship between these four which doesn’t seem healthy. I’m not sure any of them have dealt with their grief over losing Conner. They make these statements about how they’re replacing Conner with each other which made me uncomfortable. It would have helped if they’d talked about what else they liked about each other, but instead it felt like a relationship built on loneliness and desperation.
There are a few other things that potential readers should be aware of. First, there are lots of editing errors in this book. I can forgive a few, but there were enough that I found them distracting. Second, for me at least this was a fairly safe book except for the sex itself. They never talk about birth control or STDs which wouldn’t necessarily bother me except Dallas always makes a big deal about wanting the guys to come inside her which drew my attention to the issue.
I’m sure other readers will have more luck with this, but it just wasn’t the right book for me.

I really enjoyed this book, The emotion in this story was so raw you could just feel it through the pages. I cried, I laughed, I cursed, I hated right along with them. This was an intense book. I haven't read a reverse harem yet that had this kind of plot, it was so new. Just finding out what happened to her brother was heartbreaking.
Who doesn't love a sexy, fiery reverse harem book? It tends to be one of my guilty pleasures when reading romance. I know it's plausibility has problems. However, in the midst of reading it, if written well, you suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride.
Protecting Dallas is a well-written reverse harem book. It follows the story of Dallas who has an attempt made on her life at the very outset of the book. Quickly, she is rescued by three, very handsome, very hunky men, whom she finds out served with her brother, Connor, when they were all Navy SEALS. They have been tasked to protect her from the people who killed her brother. From the beginning, there is a chemistry between Dallas, Kane, Maddox, and Austin. There isn't ever a question that she won't choose all of them (although I think she has a bit of an affinity for Kane on an emotional level), and all three of them are perfectly happy with sharing Dallas. This is a choice they've made for their lives, as they feel that they work better as a team.
This book is really more than the reverse harem. That acts as a cherry on top of a delicious book ice cream sundae. Protecting Dallas is a fast-paced, action story about corruption in the government. It's about finding a family after you've lost the members of your biological one, and it's about love. Once I began reading this book, I didn't want to put it down for many reasons: the story engaged me throughout the book, the characters are interesting (although I would have liked more backstory on the guys; they tend to be pretty one dimensional for this story), and I love a strong, competent female h who can toe the mark with the strongest male. If you love this genre, and you've been disappointed with reverse harem stories in the past like I have, you will love this book. it will definitely not disappoint.
This is an abomination for a book. Cliche sex, little to no personality in characters, inconsistent story, overall poor writing. This book actually annoyed me, it was so bad.
First let's talk sex. The author used the most obvious cliche sex scenes in the book. Like really, no imagination or lack of muse? Not only were they ridiculous, but also poorly written. The entire time they are doing the dirty, there's a monologue about the brother. Every single character thinks about the brother during the sexy time! Makes it less sexy and more horrific.
Second, this girl is a damsel in distress a couple of times yet can hang with the SEALs when going through danger, being a badass, without having any training. To the point of being able to kill. I rolled my eyes so many times. If you build the characters personality up to explain she was more than a horny air head, that had no training, then fine, I could see some of it. As the book stands, the whole story is consistent with what little personality is conveyed to the reader.
Thirdly, there were many grammar errors. When the story is already poorly written, it's even worse when you have to reread due to a sentence thrown together poorly. Now I am not claiming my grammar or spelling is perfect. I, however, am not writing a book and I'm perfectly aware that some people are simply better readers than writers. That may be the case with this author. Sorry, not sorry. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Dallas is rescued by from a home invasion by three Navy SEALS. Austin, Maddox and Kane were asked by their commander, Connor, Dallas's older brother, to take care of her just before he was murdered. They have spent the past year covertly protecting Dallas while they quietly investigate Connor's murder. When Dallas is targeted, they break cover to rescue her, taking her to their home for safety. Austin, Maddox and Kane were already half in love with Dallas. Connor's stories and pictures, the their year of keeping her safe, but having her in their home, getting to know the women behind the stories, all three are in love with her. It doesn't take long for Dallas to have feelings for the men her brother called brothers. Dallas with the help of her men set out to find the people responsible for Connor's murder and get justice. Dallas was raised by her brother, when they lost their parents when she was 16. She is every bit as tough and fierce as her brother. Fast paced and steamy., M MFM with no MM, A unique proposal. A steamy epilogue to wrap up their story, and a downloadable sweet and steamy bonus epilogue, set 2 years later.
Dallas is sound asleep in her bed when something wakes her. She knows she;s not alone and when she glances around sees a figure, male, dressed in black at the foot of her bed. She goes on instinct and manages to get out of her bedroom. Then she;s taken again and again she reacts. She;s no shy violet and is good at dishing it out. Until she;s literally carried to a black van. There she learns the names of the three men who took her, Kane, Maddox and Austin. They served with her brother and are there to rescue her not kidnap her. Her big brother who was KIA the year before although the military didn;t give too many details. Now here are three fellow SEALS saving her but from what and why? That is the question of the century and what the four of them have to discover. But will that be the only thing they discover or will something more? Oh my goodness fast action starts this story and it just gets better from there on in. Buckle up and have snacks handy because you won;t want to put this one down!!!

This is a very suspenseful RH military romance featuring a trio of elite SEALs and the sister of their fallen teammate. Dallas is feisty, intelligent and impulsive. The three SEALs who have sworn to protect her will go to any lengths to keep her safe. When danger comes knocking they soon realize that she won’t be sitting meekly on the sidelines. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding her brother’s death and how solving that brought Dallas and the SEALs closer on more than just an emotional level. Considering the life and death aspect of their investigation though, it seemed that there was an overly unrealistic amount of time spent having sex – lots and lots of sex … okay if the story is a fantasy, which this is not. There’s plenty of drama, secrets, lies, military espionage and action, along with several extremely steamy MFMM scenes – including some ménage … but no MM encounters.

This is a brilliant read. I couldnt put it down, the story line had me gripped. The characters are very likable and I found myself wishing them happiness. Dallas gets the shock of her life when she is woken to find men in her house, fighting, before she knows it she is put in a van and driven off in time to see her home in flames. She is shocked to learn the three men in front of her are friends of her brother Connor, who had recently been murdered overseas. Maddox Zane and Austin are seal soldiers who are there with one goal to protect Dallas. Sent from Connor moments before he was KIA. The three men were Connors best friend so had learn a lot over the years about Dallas but could they protect a head strong woman who was also sexy as hell?? it wasn't long till Dallas had all three men wrapped around her finger but what did their future hold?? This is an outstanding read simply brilliant.
