The Workaholics Anonymous Book of Recovery

Rate this book
The Workaholics Anonymous (WA) Book of Recovery is similar in style to that of the Alcoholics Anonymous “Big Book.” It includes WA members' stories of experience, strength and hope, 20 questions to assess the traits of workaholism, a format and instructions for WA meetings, and a review of the 12 Steps of WA. This essential book on work addiction recovery is written by WA members to carry the message of hope to anyone interested in learning about this devastating addiction, and to workaholics who still suffer.

Life changing way to critically look at compulsive productivity (or fear of it) and to feel connected to others who have found peace. Highly advise the meetings too.

Most people in Utah, the LDS Church, and especially BYU are workaholics, me included! It is because we have to be perfect, constantly doing something, going above and beyond. We are so focused on D&C 58:27 we forget Mosish 4:27. :)

Anyway, this book has great stories from real people! I haven’t read the tips, and I read it out of order. I haven’t read the whole thing, and I don’t know if I ever will because I don’t want to do the 12 Steps. But it helped me realize how much I need to change and how much my busyness has hurt my life: my health, my relationships, jobs, etc.

Also, everyone should take the “Am I a Workaholic?” quiz online at WorkaholicsAnonymous.org! So eye opening!!!
