Caged Kitten is a standalone why-choose paranormal romance and is part of the ALL THE QUEEN’S MEN series. Just not my cup of tea
I loved reaper's pack, so I thought I'd like this as well. However, 80% of this book occurs in the prison being variously abused by guards and threatened by other inmates. I kind of hoped the main characters would have progressed further or done something other than day to day prison stuff and social progress. I got bored and I don't kink off abuse or attempted rape, so. This book just did not to fill my needs. It also will probably trigger people who have been abused emotionally, mentally or physically much less sexually. So be fore warned.

This started off well but I did find it was too long and I got bored. I usually love books by this author but this one didn't do that much for me. I liked some of the ideas like how they were all innocent (well their group was ) yet they all ended up in the prison. I liked the warden he was a good bad guy but I just felt like everything was dragged out. The fact that she was only there so the warden could get to her was a nice part. I felt like so much more could have happened.

I’ll start out by saying I really like Watson. Although I’ve only read two books by her (including this one), and haven’t had the chance yet to find her other works under other pennames, I find her writing to be well-rounded comprising a nice split between plot vs. romance, with multi-faceted male leads that give all new meaning to the word ‘swoon-worthy’. Caged Kitten is a solid outing by Watson, but because I’ve come to expect so much of her writing based on Reaper’s Pack, I can’t say this is as strong as its predecessor. Still it sits lightyears ahead of the pack in this genre and is an overall enjoyable read.
To set the stage, Caged Kitten revolves around Katja, an independent witch running a kitschy all Halloween all the time café in Seattle, catering to humans and supers alike. Although she’s been plagued with misfortune things are finally starting to look up, until she finds herself kidnapped right from her café and stuffed into a supernatural prison on trumped up charges with no end of sentence in sight. Lucky for her, she’s rooming with some equally innocent, dangerously sexy prisoners.
Let’s start with the good. Caged Kitten has a great premise. I love the idea of throwing a whole bunch of supernatural beings together in one place. It’s guaranteed to cause major drama as cultures and powers collide, and I was equally excited to see that our harem features three men from completely different backgrounds; Dragon-shifter, Fae, and Vampire. Add in our Witch heroine and off the bat there are 4 types of supernatural to explore! There is so much potential up front; yet this is also where I run into my first issue. So much potential and nothing capitalized on.
Because they are imprisoned it stands to reason that their powers are locked down as well. This is not an unexpected turn of events, yet the pacing along with the content turn our potential into a lot of missed opportunity. Our gorgeous male harem is reduced to a dragon who can’t shift, a vampire hiding in the dark with no access to speed, agility, and strength, and a magic-less Fae and Witch. What then is even the point of them being supernatural if we can’t see them be supernatural? And there are so many ways one can play with this scenario. They could escape sooner, giving them back access to their powers, or perhaps have the prison employ them in such a way that makes use of their specific talents. Having a dragon bake bread and Fae cut roses seems like a waste of man-power on the Warden’s behalf. Although he’s a megalomaniac and doesn’t truly need a reason for all that he does, it seems to be that a man set on world domination would have a slightly better game plan than have supers produce human products for consumption. Instead, the lack of powers coupled with banal prison tasks leaves our quartet with very little to do during their extended prison stay.
It’s okay though because lucky enough for us Watson is a good writer able to do what many before her fail at; create individual characteristics for her male reverse harem. This is probably her shining moment, and one that pulls me past other areas I’ve taken issue with. Elijah, Fintan, and Rafe are the stars of the book. Although I choose to group them here in my review, I want to emphasize how individualistic each of them are, and how Watson is able to accomplish this without taking the short cut of Alpha, Beta, etc. to delineate them. Elijah our dragon shifter, although described as an alpha, is so much more. He is mature, and cares about all those under his wing. He has a fiery side (oh the dragon puns are killing me), attributed to his shifter attributes, but he is never aggressive with our heroine. Rafe is the quiet one. He prefers his own consul, but has a strong bond with Elijah, one he is reticent but willing to open up to Katja, and it is their bonding over scholarly pursuits that builds a strong connection between the two. And finally Fintan, our flamboyant Fae, with a penchant for over embellishment, he hides a softer inside and must come to terms with what it means to truly rely on others. Even with these vastly different personalities, it is clear that each is physically and mentally strong in their own ways which makes choosing between them an utter pain. And luckily for Katja and us, we don’t have to.
Even though our male harem is distracting in all the right ways, it’s not quite enough to cover up for Katja’s flaws. I usually don’t put much stake in the female character, preferring to focus on the men, but even with my limited attention on her she still stands out as a rather dull lead, especially considering she attracts so many men. First off, I understand what kind of character Katja is supposed to be. She’s had a hard life and has been able to lift herself up over the years despite the tragedy. She considers herself strong and independent, and it’s a shock to her sense of self that she finds herself so ill-equipped to handle prison life. Watson has a clear view of what she wants Katja to be, and she illustrates it well, but to me Katja still comes off whinny and boring. Maybe I’m just used to mentally and physically stronger heroines, but to watch Katja fall into some of the more obvious stereotypes of weak willed woman who can’t fend for herself is disappointing. It’s okay that she can’t hold her own against demons and shifters, not many people can, but I wish she capitalized on the mental strength acquired throughout the years while imprisoned.
I have one more area to analyze before putting this to rest and it’s the romance. First off, Watson’s steamy scenes are fog inducing as always, and her men put real men to shame. The issue though is the chemistry. You’d think with our quartet stuck together in a circular room for the better part of the story it would lead to oodles of conversation and bonding, but it doesn’t. At first it seems headed in that direction. Watson builds great opening scenes between Katja and each of them men, having her bond to them each for different reasons. The problem is after each initial scene; Elijah/Katja in the bakery, Rafe/Katja through the mouse hole, and Fintan/Katja in the greenhouse, the story devolves into differing POVs whereby each character thinks about their relationship with the others with little to no dialogue to really paint the scene. Rafe ruminates on how he can’t covet his best friend’s fated mate. Fintan must come to terms with the fact that he wants Katja for more than just a roll in the hay, Elijah must come to terms with the fact that his fated mate is a super and not human like he wished for, and Katja must come to terms that she likes all of them and must choose. The middle of the book stagnates in these repetitive chapters instead of providing direct conversations to solidify their bonds. Dialogue would go a long way in completing the romance ignited through attraction as well as break up the fact that none of the characters can do anything while imprisoned.
I know I had a lot to say. but overall Caged Kitten is a fun read. It doesn’t require a lot of brain power and the men are swoon-worthy enough to cover the larger flaws. I just wish the characters had more to do. That we could actually see them use their powers (otherwise what’s the point of them even being supernatural to begin with?), and that the romance progressed along with the story. Although not my favorite, there are still moments that remind me of what Watson is capable of, and I will definitely pick up her upcoming trilogy in November. ***3.5 ordinary stars***

The Quick and Dirty: Prison reverse harem. A witch is accused of a crime she didn’t commit and sentenced to serve in a prison where she makes connections with several supernatural inmates.
While I’m not usually one that goes for the prison romances, this one hooked me. Of all the elements in this book, I think the character development of the core cast is excellent. Katja, for example, is not your typical heroine that starts off as some guns-blazing, badass. There is a lot of personal growth for her (as well as with her guys) that felt organic to the storyline. I also loved that while this is a RH and there is a lot of focus between Katja and each guy, there is also a lot of relationship building between the guys as well (though no sword crossing... ahem Rhea, perhaps for the next one?). And did I mention Katja has the best familiar ever? THE BEST. We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Tully.
**MILD SPOILERS**
I did have a few small qualms. There was a point at which I got annoyed with Katja because she insisted on continuing to withhold information despite some serious damage caused to someone near and dear; like after all they had undergone for her, she was *annoyed* that she’d have to share the information. It made me root for her a bit less. I also found myself wondering about Willow. She felt like an afterthought or plot device. She pops in as a means to introduce us to the characters and then it feels like Katja drops her, only to have her pop back up later. I kept wondering what had happened to her.
Short of those two things, I really enjoyed the book! Be sure to check out the epilogue. It’s 🔥🔥🔥 I’m excited to see where Rhea takes us next!

This was a decent read and nothing like I was expecting after the first book in the series. While both are stand alones, I guess I wasn’t expecting this to be a prison romance. Katja (a witch) is wrongly imprisoned in the worlds first supernatural prison. It isn’t until weeks into her stay that she learns the reason why. The wardon is someone her father warned her about, he’s also the same man responsible for the death of two brothers, her mother and her father. A blood debt with Katja’s mother makes her his property, or so he thinks. The villain is portrayed as a mafia-esque warlock who rules in the supernatural world with fear and power. Owning Katja is not something that even matters to him, it’s all about control and he has no qualms having her beaten, almost raped and repeatedly informed of all the gruesome details in which he executed her family. While in prison she meets three men, a dragon shifter, vampire and a Fae Prince. Personally while they are all in a relationship, we only get to see them all together once in the epilogue. Then again finding time to secretly get it on while in prison is no easy feat. I did get bloodthirsty overtime, each punch, kick and then Rafe getting his fangs torn out had me ready for blood to spill. I was so happy some of the baddies got their comeuppance in the end, especially a certain demon who has some limbs torn off 😈 As for what happened to Rafe, that is one concept I’m starting to dislike in these prison reads. Sometimes there’s often one MC who is irrevocably damaged, scarred in a way that there’s no coming back from. And I mean he’s a vampire, what’s he without fangs? Its all the more heartbreaking to the story and I guess I wish there was a magical fix for this especially when it’s for one of the non-main man in the harem, which I think many of can agree unfortunately always seems to happen. One man tends to be the lead romance while the others are there more to tag along and add a different personality to the mix. In this instance, the outsider feeling could be because the heroine and her dragon are mated which kind of adds this intimacy and fate level between them that no matter what she does not have with the other men. On that note, I wish the epilogue was more in the future, what we see is them in the aftermath of escape, whereas I’d like to see them all when this is in the past. What happened to her bar? Can Rafe get implants, is that possible for a vamp? Do they see her rabbit shifter friends again? I have questions lol. In the authors defense ther is a link at the end for a more extended ending but that’s just too much work for me, if it’s necessary it should have just been included, I don’t care enough to take the extra step to seek it out 🤷🏼♀️ Overall it was a good read. Wish it would have been a bit shorter, there’s just so much down time of them in prison. While I get it gave them time to bond it also made the story drag at times.

I have been giddily awaiting this book since reading Reaper's Pack (which is ALSO amazing and you should read that one too). The nods to it were really cute (Shouldn't her aunt be reaped by now? Shifters biting their mates. Etc)! I received a free ARC of this book for an honest review. Now let's get to it!
Katja is such an interesting character. She starts shaky, and I can see some readers having issues with her at first because she cries a lot and can be defeatist, but stick it out because she grows into the badass heroine that we all know she is! I found it realistic--I know I wouldn't handle being wrongfully imprisoned well--and it made me like her more. Each of her menfolk have different merit and we see their relationships with Katja grow at their own rates (the way poly actually functions in the real world). She has a soul/spiritual connection with Elijah, a conversation/intimacy connection with Rafe, and a physical/humor connection with Fintan. Plus! There's a strong emphasis on the males forming their meta friendships too, not just discussing that they will share her. Well done! Also, Tully is the bestest ever and I want one.
While this book is a romance and there is indeed sexy goodness, the steam is limited because of the setting. They're all in prison, so those conditions are consistent and readers should expect it to get dark in places. Katja is such an interesting character. She starts shaky, and I can see some readers having issues with her at first because she cries a lot and can be defeatist, but stick it out because she grows into the badass heroine that we all know she is! I found it realistic--I know I wouldn't handle being wrongfully imprisoned well--and it made me like her more. Each of her menfolk have different merit and we see their relationships with Katja grow at their own rates (the way poly actually functions in the real world). She has a soul/spiritual connection with Elijah, a conversation/intimacy connection with Rafe, and a physical/humor connection with Fintan. Plus! There's a strong emphasis on the males forming their meta friendships too, not just discussing that they will share her. Well done! Also, Tully is the bestest ever and I want one.
While this book is a romance and there is indeed sexy goodness, the steam is limited because of the setting. They're all in prison, so those conditions are consistent and readers should expect it to get dark in places. the tough thing about RH is balancing the relationship development and chemistry between each of the characters. The author did a great job of that in Reaper's Pack. This one, not so much. Katja had a ton of chemistry with Elijah and absolutely zero with everyone else. It basically made 2/3 of the story feel unsatisfying and forced. Too bad because I liked the premise.

I loved any paranormal prison books because they are just kickass in there own way.

Rhea Watson has done it again -- I loved Caged Kitten!
Such effortless and engaging writing, Rhea takes time to build each character, ensuring they're all unique. I can't decide which of the three men I love the most, they were each so different and delicious! The developing relationships have it all - tension, steam, humour. Amazing attention to detail throughout, awesome steamy scenes, dramatic finale, and a perfect epilogue. Yas please!

Dear author, who are you and what have you done to the author of book No 1?
If you are the same person, you are absolutely unlucky to have created a masterpiece, set up high expectations for vol.2 and then blown it spectacularly.
(I’ll try not to spoil for those who tries to understand is it worth reading).
First, characters. Main one Katja is boring, whiny with no talent or achievement whatsoever. There’s absolutely nothing that sets her apart. In Reaper we have seen a heroine with inner torment, compassion, dedication to the task and absolute goodness topped up with feminine vulnerability. Katja is like average Jane Doe, clueless about everything (although she is supposed to be a witch owning her own little business). There’s an attempt to explain it by tragic circumstances in life that have set up her character, but they do not sound believable.
Then her “heroes”... when they started to appear one by one in the book it brought to my mind “hey, there’s a nice anecdote: a shifter, a vampire and a fae walk into a bar...” dah. It couldn’t be more cliche than this. They looked like useless props, two dimensional carton figures that where in the story just because they were supposed to be there and have some sex with heroine eventually. They didn’t look alive. Why? Because you learn character’s worth through action, and there was either very little of that or they didn’t act much when it was necessary.
And, finally, the plot. Man... that was just dragging on and on and on. Nothing significant happens until author throws some little event to create artificial drama and activity, which feels forced.
Overall the book left me very very disappointed. I wouldn’t like it even if it was the first in the series - I would just dub the author as one of the creators of those cookie-cutter books about RH and paranormals where plot is usually almost non-existent. Pity really.
I honestly don’t understand all the 5-star reviews. But please, please, dear author, find again that kernel of talent you have shown us, it shines so bright! And come back with more of Reaper’s-pack-style stories. I, for sure, will hope to read more one day.

Caged Kitten was an unputdownable story in a genre that is becoming more of the same!
I loved that Rhea gave us time to get to know all of the mcs before jumping into their relationship, how each one has an unique voice and how we see Katja coming into herself throughout the book.
If you love rh standalones full of action, steamy scenes, mcs that steal your heart and a story that doesn't let you go until is over, and is ready to have your heart belonging to Tully (the best familiar ever), Caged Kitten is definitely for you!

Book 2 in the All The Queen's Men set.
This book is a standalone. You do not need to read Reaper's Pack first.
There are lots of spoilers speckled throughout this review.
I LOVED Reaper's Pack so I knew I had to have this book pre-ordered so I could read it as soon as it came out. I will start out by saying that I did give Reaper's Pack 5 stars and Caged Kitten 4 stars. I really enjoyed it, however, I was also a bit frustrated in parts. Those parts were definitely needed since this book does take place in prison. I think the setting is the only thing about this book that knocked it down slightly for me. This is purely based on taste and opinion obviously. This book was written very well. The characters were all developed and came across clear. They had positives and negatives and felt authentic and "real." The setting and issues they faced also felt extremely authentic and "real." I think I would have felt so lost and defeated and like all hope was lost if I were in Katja's situation. The things she has to deal with...I can't imagine.
Also, there are triggers in this book for those that may be sensitive to certain things. I personally do not have anything that triggers me. But for others here are a few: kidnapping, sexual assault/attempted rape, forced nudity in coed situations, murder, brutality and violence, swearing, and group sex (with consent).
Katja is abducted from her cafe (that she owns) in Seattle and sent to a prison in Sweden. She is held with a false conviction made up by the warden. We find out later that he did it to own her since her mother had signed her over to him prior to her birth. While Katja is in the cell block she is assigned to she meets Elijah (fated mate dragon shifter) and Rafe (vampire, friends with Elijah prior to prison). A little bit into the story Fintan (comedic Fae prince) arrives. She develops a strong bond with all three of them and becomes close to them. Most of the connection is limited to conversations in this book (as they are in prison). For me, the connection with Rafe felt the closest, though I know that fated mates is a soul connection. Fintan was definitely the most fun of the three and his character was much needed to lighten the mood. This book was very heavy on the darker mood and somber feel so Fintan's addition felt very much needed. I loved that the three men formed a strong friendship as well.
Once the group is finally free and the prison is brought to ruins they are allowed to truly live again. I felt a huge relief reading this part, like I was truly that invested that a part of myself felt trapped in those walls and behind the cell block doors with them.
The heat level definitely picked up at the end of the book. So heads up, if you're looking for a book with high heat or sexy times this may not be the right fit. There are two scenes among the first part and half of the book but they are short. The real steam doesn't happen until the end. This book focuses more on the buildup in the relationship(s) than the actual physical love. It's a slow burn and everything is earned.
This book is a wonderful follow up and I cannot wait to read more from Rhea Watson!

Oh my gosh. I could not get enough of this foursome!
Amazing depth to this story! You will absolutely, know the characters (and, love them!) I just love all of the main characters names!

Katja Fox is a witch without a coven, her family having died over time. But when she is hauled out of her cafe and thrown into a maximum security facility without any reason, her life is thrown upside down. In her cellblock she befriends a dragon shifter, a vampire and a fae prince, who are also locked up under false accusations. When the pull towards her friends becomes strong, the prison warden steps in and reveals the true reason for her being locked up. And then Katja and her male companions need all their wits and strength to make it out alive.
Pro's:
+ The individual relations between Katja and her men are all really well written. She feels different about all of them and even though you can feel her predicament about falling for three guys, she treats all of them different, taking into account their different characters. I felt like you had the option of liking all of the guys or just one of them without it taking away from the interactions with the other guys.
+ Life in prison and Katja's desperation in being wrongly detained are really well written. Especially when she has her interaction with the warden, you can really feel her desperation and horror in the things she finds out. Also there are some characters in the prison ( the demon Deimos) you just want to get stomped the bejesus out of their skull, just because they're such assholes.
+ Katja has a cat familiar named Tully and as pets are almost always one of the best things i n books, this book is no exception. Tully s a big, lazy cat, but he has his own shadow bending and healing abilities that make him super awesome.
Con's:
- At times, Katja lacks a spine at all and it puts me off quite a bit. She finds it in the end, but I wished she put her foot down a bit more in some situations. Also, she sometimes turns into a whimpering mess even though she 'felt strengthened' just a page before. Not really the strong woman I expected her to be.
- The sexy bits are quite bland, especially comparing them to the previous book ( Reaper's Pack). This is also a reverse harem romance, but outside a mweh scene in the end there is not much harem about it, just a girl having sexy times with multiple guys.
In comparison to the previous book, I definitely liked this book a bit less. The sexy times, which you book like this for I think, were a bit lacking and the female lead was not as appealing as she could be. But, the story and the interaction between characters were actually really good, therefore it redeems itself quite a bit. There were some really funny and some really terrifying moments, mixed with a lot of interactions between characters. Not as good as the previous book, but still an entertaining read.

It was ok. I had hoped for something different after reading "Reaper's Pack".
It took me forever to finish the story and now at the end I'm not really satisfied. It was an ok story with agreable characters. I just never felt their love/attraction for each other.

I did like this one! As soon as I read the summary I was instantly in the mood for a supernatural book set in a prison.
I love me some why choose and the chemistry was written pretty good between the FMC and her guys. The build up of their relationship is what really intrigued me. Just seeing them be there for each other and growing and protecting each other made me really happy.
I didn’t really like the spicy scenes because Katja discovered that she likes it rough in the bed which I usually don’t mind but since this book already had so many scenes that were difficult to read, it didn‘t feel right that all three of the guys were into this. For me, the tenderness (only in the spicy scenes) got lost in there sometimes.
Just not my cup of tea.
With that, be aware that there is a lot of physical and mental abuse since the characters were kidnapped and put in prison.
Also if you read this, why did the author do with Thompson what she did? This confused me the most honestly. Like he was there, and then he vanished like thin air?? I just want to know what the purpose was.
Fintan was for some reason my least favorite in the beginning but he‘s gone through the biggest transformation which I liked the most. Does it make him my favorite out of them all? Well, unfortunately no. I had no favorite but maybe because I went into a reading slump and finished this weeks later soooo jokes on me lol.
The storyline is good and I loved the conclusion (very much anticipated it) because it wasn‘t just a quick ending and HEA. I loved the details and the explanations so I could really grasp why things happened and not sat there with more questions in my mind.
I do think that in the end the book was a bit long but definitely worth the read!!

I awoke to a blitzkrieg
Rhea Watson is a wiz at concocting the perfect brew of humor, subtly, romance, steam, wit and suspense.
It was funny without being juvenile, sweet without being too cheesy, steamy without crossing the line of vulgarity, witty yet still relatable. Each character is so believable, and for being one in a sea of paranormal prison romances, it didn’t fall into any cliché traps; it was pleasantly, surprisingly unique without trying too hard.
Rhea captures emotion exceedingly well, something often lost in RH novels which tend to cross over into eroticism, losing that romanticism that I crave in stories.
Not an issue here. Pack your emotional baggage and get ready for a feel trip, especially with that sweet and touching bonus content.
You can tell RW’s books stand apart from other kindle unlimited PRN authors because the attention to detail and professionalism drips off each well edited page. Never have to worry about typos or major grammar issues distracting from sweet, sweet content. This author is an auto-buy for me.
The “All The Queen’s Men” series has contained my favorite paranormal reverse harem books to date.

Each character is so believable, and for being one in a sea of paranormal prison romances, it didn’t fall into any cliché traps; it was pleasantly, surprisingly unique without trying too hard.
Rhea captures emotion exceedingly well, something often lost in RH novels which tend to cross over into eroticism, losing that romanticism that I crave in stories.
Not an issue here. Pack your emotional baggage and get ready for a feel trip, especially with that sweet and touching bonus content.
You can tell RW’s books stand apart from other kindle unlimited PRN authors because the attention to detail and professionalism drips off each well edited page. Never have to worry about typos or major grammar issues distracting from sweet, sweet content. This author is an auto-buy for me.
The “All The Queen’s Men” series has contained my favorite paranormal reverse harem books to date.
Get it, you won’t regret it.

This highly entertaining and often emotional reverse harem paranormal romance packs quite a punch in its delivery with plenty of misadventure, conflict, drama, anguish, violence and humour plus some extremely steamy graphic sex (including some ménage, but no M/M action). It’s a well written story with compelling and well defined, diverse supernatural characters. I sympathized with the plight of the inmates, relying only on their wits and brawn for survival in the hostile prison environment as they coped with the absence of their magic. I loved Katja’s determination to set aside her self-doubts while embracing her inner badass-ness to thwart her archenemy’s goals. I enjoyed the dynamic and brotherhood between Elijah, Rafe and Fintan. Their push and pull over Katja led to some entertaining tension before fate intervened. I received an Advance Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not at all a fan of the writing style. Feels disorganized and poorly timed. The author breaks up exciting scenes (resulting in chronic mini cliffhangers) with boring ones that are either redundant or irrelevant. And then after the boring scene ends, we finally get to find out what happens after the mini cliffhanger. This style of writing makes me skip pages of what could have been nice to read...just elsewhere. So, what could have been a fantastic story, ended up being a tedious read with not a whole lot of payoff (sex scenes were few, very short, and not that hot). Which is sad because the characters were wonderful!

I really enjoyed The Reaper's Pack (the first book in this now not connected series), but this one not so much. The entire book was telling us what happened days, weeks, or even months after it had already happened instead of showing it happening, so the romance fell flat since we didn't get to experience any of it. It was so frustrating I almost DNFd many times, but I kept reading because I was really in the mood for a prison break storyline.
Also got many Harry Potter and Darkmoore Penitentiary vibes throughout the book. I think this was published the same year as Darkmoore, so that's probably a coincidence, but the HP-like spell casting kept taking me out of this book.

Y'all... this book was fan-***king-tastic.
It wasn't just a "Oh they are in prison, then they do the dirty, and somehow make it out and live happily ever after" story filled with plot holes. This was a supernatural prison story done right!
It's filled with non-stop action, a solid plot, character growth, and steam that will make your toes curl. To make it better (as if its needed haha) the story wasn't just thrown together, the ending is proof of that. Ending in a way that had me punching the air, yelling, and grinning ear to freaking ear. Not just a "and they somehow escaped and lived happily ever after". Read the bonus content at the end too... it'll make your heart melt.

This is a great book with all the feels. Sexy fun with a little pain mixed in and a hea worth the wait. The journey is arduous but the reward is epic.

Meh. This was ok. Took me a long time to get into it. Katja was pretty irritating as a character. I appreciate that she probably was a pretty realistic character in that we’re not all a bad ass - but she just seemed to whine about being weak a little too much. Her growth as a character was pretty poor - by the end, I couldn’t care less if she finally managed to put on her big girl panties or not. The relationships between the main characters was also pretty dull. I didn’t really *see* her falling in love with anyone - instead you’re just kind of told why she likes them rather than watching the relationships grow. I liked the multiple viewpoints - always nice to see what the guys are thinking. The villains motivations weren’t super clear to me other than ‘he’s just evil’. The ending wasn’t great. Overall, there just wasn’t a huge amount of plot and with the romance being about shallowly explored in my opinion, there just wasn’t much to this book.

I'm not a big fan of prison settings, but I was trying out the trope and this one is by the author who wrote Reaper's Men, which I really liked. This one is pretty good and I liked how the relationships progressed. The ending is interesting although it really begs the question of what else is going on in this world!
