this was a really Good book.

Drew Calhoun comes back home to help at his parents' ranch. He meets Mandy, former girlfriend and her daughter.

Drew works and helps out. He comes to find out that Ella is his daughter.
He has to work through what to do.

They work together and eventually through the help of God and many prayers they become that family the Ella has wanted. She was so happy to finally have a Daddy.

Very sweet and cute.

This book was perfect. In a lot of books I find errors or certain plot situations just feel kind of off because I'm ridiculously picky, but this book just felt right all the way through. It ripped at my emotions and just sat perfectly. Lois Richer is one of my favorite authors and in this book she certainly does not disappoint.

Hoping for a Father by Lois Richer is an inspirational romance that explores themes of loss, shame, grief, forgiveness, and second chances. I appreciated the inclusion of a young child with learning challenges and the compassion shown toward both the child and the adults supporting her. With its focus on faith, family, community, and healing, this was a heartfelt story of hope and redemption.

Happy books can make me cry too.
I appreciated the author's storyline and underlying Christian principles. Without saying too much about the storyline, learning to trust in God completely and loving fully like we are loved were major themes.

Ok story. But the insecurities both Mandy and Drew had that kept them from each other seemed contrived and unbelievable to me.

This is the first book in the Calhoun Cowboys series. Drew Calhoun lost his parents when he was nine. He and his brothers were adopted by Ben and Bonnie Halston, and brought to the Hanging Hearts Ranch. Drew, afraid he will lose more people in his life, shuts himself off. Says he never wants kids. His former girlfriend, Mandy Brown, calls for him to come home and help on the ranch as his folks have been seriously hurt in a fire.
