Bear

Rate this book
I gave up trying to be normal a long time ago.
All my prayers for love and warmth fell on deaf ears.
I accepted my fate as a heartless savage.
A kingpin who breathed luxury and made art from death.
A beast that was hewn from smoke and murder.

A bad guy.

I corrupted everything I touched.
I left ashes in my wake.
She knew it.
No matter how much I tried to protect the innocence in her…
I knew once I touched her.
Once I tasted her on my tongue.
She’d be corrupted too.
Fate would have its way with us.
There was no escape.

Long, but good

I think if I didn’t just finish reading Honey Sugar. This would’t of been such a struggle for me😬

I was excited that Bear, got his own story. And,at first the story pulled me in. However, when Cecily was added to the mix. The two of them, in my opinion didn’t do it for me, at all.

My biggest issue, is the repetitiveness in the story. The constant mentioning of Cecily’s dimples or Bear’s amber eyes. I mean,we get it, we get it🙄

Also, death is death... and nobody has the right to end a person’s life. I found it interesting, how Cecily cried about Kaiden’s death. For the entire book🙄
But, would accompany Bear. When he was “working” and witnessed him murder people. And, shed not one tear. I understand the comparison to light and dark.

But, comparing Bear to anyone, he will always be Dark. Based on his lifestyle, alone.

Cecily was weird to me, at no point did she ever try to talk Bear out of his wrongdoings. She easily immersed herself, into Bear’s day to day as if. What he did was normal.

This was just a okay read, I am waiting for the ball to drop. And Titan admit his secret to Bear, once and for all. I know I will see these characters, in Kareema & Tito’s story. Which, I kinda am interested in.

Welp... after binging 5 books by this author, Bear just couldn't hold my attention. The writing is good, but by now all these characters have started to blur together for me. But I think the real issue is Cecily, the FMC.

She's a young and innocent girl, who's torn up by an innocent boys death. She's so innocent that she suggest that Bear (the MC,/i>) reads the bible when he can't sleep. All in all young Cecily is a good Christian girl who worships God. Yet, she's willing to overlook Bear running a drug empire, killing people, and using women for sex to pass the time. All this is of no issue for her, because it's him.

Since I was unable to finish this book, I have chosen to not leave a star rating. Purely because I can't judge the entire book.

Bad A$$ Bear!

I have read several of your stories, and even knowing ahead of time that they are dark; this one was WOW! The best one yet! Bear was always special, even as a child growing up with a horrible father. There was something about Cecily, that drew her to Bear, and vice versa. You knew it would only be a matter of time before they realized their feelings. It was great seeing Bear evolve, and find out he was not who his father told him he was. Loved the brotherhood Bear had with Ace, and the friendship with Titan. So glad you let us in on what happened with Titan and Ivy. Such a great read. Hopefully we get to see how things turn out for Kareema and Tito. 👍👍👍

If you’ve read any of Danielle James’ novels then you already know you’re in for a treat. If you haven’t .... then stop reading this and go get yourself a book of hers.

Bear was everything I thought it would be and more. I was so happy to see him get his own book (you may know him from Honey Sugar)!

He grew up needing to know how to thrive and survive; always around drugs and not the best people, but, he had a protective soul deep down inside of him that I just wanted to crawl myself into. The love that shines through him for Cecily is moving, real, and raw. He would throw down for his girl. His queen. His life.

I loved every minute of reading BEAR. It’s a page turner from the very first to the absolute last. Just like every other books from Ms. James.

Emotional goodness!! This was my first read by the author, and it was recommended so I went in not really knowing what to expect. But what I got was an emotion-filled, unique tale of friendship, love, loyalty, forgiveness, betrayal, revenge and redemption...All played out within the backdrop of the underworld. And based on the quality I took away from this author's work, I'll definitely be reading more of her catalog!

This is my second book to read by Danielle. Wow she has such a way with words, . That captivates you from the beginning. Bear may have grown up in a world of drugs. But deep down he knows right from wrong. With Bears and his best buds help they help her overcome a crippling fear she has. Loved catching up on Shadow and Ivy. Cannot wait for more.

Good read

This was my first time reading a book by this author and I enjoyed it. I love the connection between Bear and Cecily. The heat between them matched the fire in Bear’s eyes...wow. Good job, Danielle James!
