Ava always knew the Wyvern in her would get her into trouble...
Orphaned and alone in the world, Ava learned survival along side pirates, finding friendship along the way. Now as an adult, she makes her own rules, choosing her prizes carefully with cunning and stealth.
All that changes the day the Griffins come to shore.
With her insatiable need for shiny things, their golden skin and riches beckon her closer, practically begging her to take what she wants, tempting her covetous nature.
But the hunt soon becomes more than she bargained for. When ancient magic is a'foot, marking the Griffin males as something more than even Ava could have predicted, complications arise, threatening friendships and blurring lines.
For Ava, it all comes down to what's worth taking: a priceless treasure, or the chance at love? Will love and fate win? Or will greed triumph, ultimately ending in disaster?
*Avarice is a stand-alone Reverse Harem fantasy based in the Slivered Realms world*
Another of my favourites from the Eden anthology. One wyvern shifter pirate/thief and three bounty hunter griffins. I liked all the characters and Ava’s need for the shinies. Curious about Dolor so may read that trilogy. Looking forward to Lobah’s story.
This was a quick and easy read. Whilst I did enjoy the overall story, it wasn't exactly structurally sound; there were some plot holes, or rather loose threads left unresolved. Most notably, we’re told the MMCs need the bounty reward Lobah’s capture promises in order to help “cover the costs and refill their [island’s] supplies” which took a hit after a battle with rogue sailors. Yet the book ends with them none the richer, and no mention of the island’s plight.
The setting was also something I struggled with. The combination of this being a fantasy, with a prologue featuring the Greek Gods, and with the presence of pirates, I initially assumed that the setting was historical. By the time I figured out the setting was contemporary (the presence of phones, security cameras, and t-shirts is what clued me in) I found it difficult to change my mind set. A simple mention of the current year at the start of the first chapter could have easily fixed this.
Again, I did enjoy this story and will definitely read future works of this author. I’ve already previously read her Silvered Souls trilogy which I also enjoyed.
Avarice what can I say, Kandi Vale is an awesome author. The worlds that are in her head amaze me. This book takes place in the Slivered series realm where there are so many different kinds of creatures. Ava a Wyvern and pirate can sure get herself into trouble, when she meets not one but three Griffins, and damn are they hot!! Now they are trying to figure out what’s myth and what is fact and the one being that can help them is nowhere to be found. Oh, did I mention a meeting with two of our favorite Slivered men?? You won’t be able to put this book down!
After reading The Slivered Souls Trilogy by Kandi Vale I couldn't wait to read more from her. Avarice is an amazing new adventure for readers. The world is unique and the characters are like none I've encountered in any genre of books. Kandi Vale has taken the concept of shifters to new heights! Her ability to weave an intriguing story that pulls you into the world of the character while creating plenty of steam that works to drive the story rather than distract from it is second to none! I can't wait for the next book!
This is a sweet, sexy story set in the Slivered Souls world starring Ava and 3 sexy golden men. Kandi’s writing is stellar, her world building and characters are amazing. The cameo appearance of Dolor and Mattheus was entertaining, it’s interesting to see how others perceive them. I felt like we needed more of Ava, but there’s enough going on with an over-arcing story that I suspect she and her men will be back.
Omg!!! Kandi Vale out-did herself this time. This book was everything and some. Action, drama, suspense, and of course a little love action, this book was a couldn’t put down, don’t want to stop reading kind of story. If you don’t read this and the Slivered Trilogy, you’re not living your best life. AMAZING!!!
The wonderful Kandi has again fleshed out delicious characters and a captivating story plot. I’m hooked and can’t wait for more of Ava and her golden men.
I enjoyed this book. Fast paced and seems to be a pre-book for the start of a really good series. I really like the idea behind the book. And the writing was good.
I’ve loved everything Kandi writes and this didn’t disappoint. Some old favourites appear from the Slivered books and that was a lovely addition to a great book, awesome story and steamy!!!!
Kandi delivers again! I read this in just a few hours. I couldn’t put it down! Pirates, mystery, hot men, steamy scenes...what more could a girl ask for? Loved it!
