One of my favorite One-click authors, Katie O’Sullivan’s new book, CHANGING THE RULES, is a sexy and steamy tale about two fringe friends who fall in love.
When Caroline Meyers looses her job, she’s in a quandary. Stay in the Cape Cod town she’s grown to love with friends who are more like family to her than her own? Or move on?
Problem is, she doesn’t want to move on. Especially when a guy she’s known socially starts to become something more than just a fringe friend.
Brain Macdonald wants to open a bar of his own. The problem for him? While he’s a people person and socially smart, his financial skills are nil. A lifetime secret of dyslexia has prevented him from moving ahead in life, and has made many people think he’s a lovable idiot – Caroline included.
When Brian presents his idea for them to work together on a business proposal for his bar, Caroline jumps at the chance. Trying to ignore the budding feelings she has for Brian and to keep their relationship professional, she constitutes a no-play rule between them.
Well, like most rules in life – and love – this one doesn’t have a chance of sticking!
Now, there are a few things Brian doesn’t know about Caroline – mainly her organized crime connected family past. This is only fair, since Caroline doesn’t know about Brian’s learning disability.
When both secrets are revealed, these two must decide where they want to go in their relationship.
Can I just tell you how much I wanted them to decide to stick together??
I read this entire book in one sitting while I was on a plane coming home from London. I kept hoping I had enough flight time to finish it because I truly could not put it down!
Katie O’Sullivan has that unique ability that so many authors lack of making their characters burst to life on the page. I could feel Caroline’s angst over her family drama during each scene, and empathized so heartily with Brian’s dyslexia. It’s a rare gift when an author draws you into the life and souls of her characters so well, and O’Sullivan has the gift!
I loved this book! I loved the characters, the snappy, witty dialogue, the love scenes ( I really loved those!) and even the subplot of the Mafioso who appear on her Caroline’s doorstep.
I simply loved it all.
Wish the book rating Gods would allow me to give more than 5 stars!!!!
