Do you like rollercoasters?
Do you like the anticipatory tick, tick, tick as you slowly climb to the top? Do you like the way your stomach tightens before you are whipped up and down till you lose your breath at the thrilling finish? That’s what this 5 star read is like.
Since this is the third book in the Cape Cod Dating Rules series, the author spends time reacquainting us with the couples and characters from the first two books and the glorious Chatham, Cape Cod setting of these stories. Once again, it’s summer on the Cape and it’s all fun and games for visitors. For the people who live there full time it’s another story.

Caroline and Brian have been hanging around in the same friend group for years. Caroline has always thought of Brian the blue-eyed jock as more eye candy than brainiac and he’s always thought of her as way too pretty, aloof and smart for the likes of him. Turns out they both have secrets and when Caroline needs a job and agrees to help Brian with a business plan to start his own pub, the walls between these acquaintances begin to crumble.

Without giving away any spoilers, the story heats up as they fall in lust then love and when Caroline’s family catches up to her—let’s just say I was on the edge of my rollercoaster’s seat as I hurtled down through a thrilling ending.
I think Brian is my favorite male lead in the series. He’s got that whole gorgeous, protective and vulnerable thing going. I don’t know how he wasn’t snapped up by some lucky gal sooner. Caroline is sympathetic and her family? Madonn! Don’t get me started.
I loved the vividly drawn Cape Cod setting. I spent many a wonderful vacation there and it was fun to return in spirit. Great read!

This is the 2nd book I read by Katie O'Sullivan. I'm sorry I stopped reading this story 📖 at chapter 4 because it didn't grab my interest.

One of my favorite One-click authors, Katie O’Sullivan’s new book, CHANGING THE RULES, is a sexy and steamy tale about two fringe friends who fall in love.

When Caroline Meyers looses her job, she’s in a quandary. Stay in the Cape Cod town she’s grown to love with friends who are more like family to her than her own? Or move on?
Problem is, she doesn’t want to move on. Especially when a guy she’s known socially starts to become something more than just a fringe friend.

Brain Macdonald wants to open a bar of his own. The problem for him? While he’s a people person and socially smart, his financial skills are nil. A lifetime secret of dyslexia has prevented him from moving ahead in life, and has made many people think he’s a lovable idiot – Caroline included.

When Brian presents his idea for them to work together on a business proposal for his bar, Caroline jumps at the chance. Trying to ignore the budding feelings she has for Brian and to keep their relationship professional, she constitutes a no-play rule between them.
Well, like most rules in life – and love – this one doesn’t have a chance of sticking!

Now, there are a few things Brian doesn’t know about Caroline – mainly her organized crime connected family past. This is only fair, since Caroline doesn’t know about Brian’s learning disability.
When both secrets are revealed, these two must decide where they want to go in their relationship.

Can I just tell you how much I wanted them to decide to stick together??

I read this entire book in one sitting while I was on a plane coming home from London. I kept hoping I had enough flight time to finish it because I truly could not put it down!

Katie O’Sullivan has that unique ability that so many authors lack of making their characters burst to life on the page. I could feel Caroline’s angst over her family drama during each scene, and empathized so heartily with Brian’s dyslexia. It’s a rare gift when an author draws you into the life and souls of her characters so well, and O’Sullivan has the gift!

I loved this book! I loved the characters, the snappy, witty dialogue, the love scenes ( I really loved those!) and even the subplot of the Mafioso who appear on her Caroline’s doorstep.

I simply loved it all.
Wish the book rating Gods would allow me to give more than 5 stars!!!!

I enjoy Katie O'Sullivan's books and her ability to transport you to the world she creates. You'll sip in the crisp air, enjoy the scenery, and drool for the cupcakes at a local bakery. I've never been to Cape Cod, but reading this series is almost as good. This story is a delight for your senses.

I enjoy stories with characters who appear to be one thing on the surface and have surprising and interesting layers underneath. Caroline assumes Brian is a big dumb jock, but soon learns he's got a heart of gold under his impressive pecs. Brian assumes Caroline grew up without a care in the world and eventually learns of the strength she developed out of an isolated childhood. These two are a perfect couple! I also enjoyed seeing characters from an earlier book in the series––the friendships are fun and realistic. I highly recommend this fast read!

Some rules were made to be broken
Caroline has been on her own since her father, a head for the mafia, was sent to jail. She lives in a small town and has recently been fired. She's looking for a new job when Brian, a friend, offers her a position helping him with a business plan for his new bar. As they spend more time together, the flirting gets more intense as do the kisses and she sets rules for them. What will happen when Caroline doesn't want to follow the rules she set? Or when her pyscho ex comes to claim her? Will Brian be able to give her a HEA? This is a good book. Some rules were just made to be broken

Caroline lives in Cape Cod and loves it there since it is far away from her old life also the friends she has made but she loses her job and is not sure she can stay until her friend Brian offers her a job as he is fixing to open his own bar and he needs someone that is good with numbers. They start out as friends but quickly turn into more but they must have some rules to keep things professional. What will happen when her violent ex comes looking for her?

I really liked both Caroline and Brian and thought they were kinda sweet together. When Brian offers his bar he needs someone to help him with his business plan and books that's where Caroline comes in she is his friend and has just lost her job so the timing is perfect and the more time they spend together the closer they become but when her past rears it's ugly head and her secrets come out will Brian stick with her or leave?

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Katie O’Sullivan; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I really loved this story of friends who both have secrets they are hiding from the world. When they decide to change the rules and become so much more than friends, will those secrets tear them apart? Great storyline and characters with lots of chemistry.

Way to candid and naive for the plot. Brian learning Disability are written lightly and made seems like there is no way to overcome them. The mafia plot is almost laughable.

It may have been good if it had built up to what it promised. It's almost too sweet and naive for the storyline it's supposed to follow. A nice light read I guess.
