Would you save the people accusing you of being a monster? I’m Kailée Wynrée, a half-elven bounty hunter, and I track down rogue supernatural beasts for a living.
When a family emergency forces me to return to the town I left years ago, I must face those who suspect me of being a monster.
Aided by my not-ex-husband (don’t ask), my compassion for those who see me as less is put to the test when an elven threat descend upon the town.
Save my mother’s newborn child? Of course. Save the child and all the people that made my life a living hell? Doing the right thing should be easy…
I absolutely loved this story. I hated though that it ended. I really want to know what happens next for the couple. It is a great read tough and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys an exciting fantasy story.
It’s in dire need of a proofread and a thorough continuity edit. I ground my teeth at first, finding a litany of errors and awkward language in the first few pages, but then I became more forgiving as I found myself really enjoying the dynamic between the characters.
There’s a real germ of something in this author’s universe, a sympathetic bunch of personalities that the reader can root for.
Being a paranormal bounty hunter story with all the usual tropes, this avoids being light and fluffy whilst being pleasantly lighthearted. It stands out in a usually grim, cynical, tough talking genre.
As the novella is very short, there’s only a glimpse of the homely, family conscious, catty neighbourly set up, but it’s a pleasure to have a story that shows some heart. Banter rather than battle speeches. That gives a contrast for the grimmer bits and gives those a greater effectiveness.
The execution is a bit off, but the concept is unexpectedly good. Three stars.
Our heroine buries a ghoul before heading into her magical hometown. Her homecoming isn't a welcome one. Soon, dark elves infiltrate the town. Our heroine teams up with her not-ex-husband to kick some ass. When things take a turn for the worse, our heroine turns into a dragon. Once she saves the town, her job is done. Her not-ex-husband decides to leave town with her. The end.
It's a good book, but it is only 59 pages. A short story at best. Keep that in mind. No sequels or anything. If you want a longer book, remember that a lot of box sets are $0.99 too.
This is a good QUICK story, but it feels like I should be in the middle of a story, not that this IS the story. I would reccomend it for what it is, but I would enjoy it so much more if there was more.
I liked the book. Quick and simple, it hit all the needed points.
I did not like the mother. She knew her daughter was being tormented and did nothing. There is no excuse for that in my book. I hope she does not show in future books.
A fun little read. Wouldn't mind reading more on it. Definitely felt like there should have been either more to it or another after it. Perhaps time will tell.
Really enjoyed this story, but it was too short. Hope this author writes more stories about this heroines adventures . I will definitely check out more from this author
Really loved the writing and the tone of voice in this short, fast-paced novella! A bit miffed that this wasn't a fully fleshed out novel, as I think the world-building had a lot of potential... But I'll definitely check out more of this author's work in the future!
