’Tis the season to be wicked… When a woman desperate for a job saves the life of an earl… … both of their plans for the future are thwarted.
He’s eccentric and society-shy… There’s no polite way to describe Ansley, Earl of Scarborough’s obsession with schedules and inflexible routines. Unfortunately, he’s also in need of a wife, which forces him squarely in the midst of the society he can scarcely function within. If only he dared to ignore the haut ton’s censure and claim the lovely, wholly unsuitable Willow as his own.

Only, her plans are foiled when she rushes to the rescue of a devastatingly handsome earl in the process of being robbed. Neither is prepared for the upheaval to their lives when she reluctantly accepts his offer of employment…as his housekeeper. Nor can either predict the mayhem that follows when a lord who disdains society and a country miss with no experience plan a haut ton Christmastide gathering.
Though part of a series, this book can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.

This is one of those books that I will read over and over again. Earl of Scarborough: The Honorable Rogues by Collette Cameron is book 21 in the Wicked Earls' Club series. This story was so well written as the hero has special needs and Collette did an amazing job writing this book to be witty without being offensive. You fall in love with the characters and this is truly an original. Though in a series this regency story can be read as a standalone. This story has a mugging, a heroine, understanding, trust, scandal, lies, rescue, a commoner, routine, a life saver, wanting what you can’t have and love. I highly commend you read this book or any of Collette Cameron’s books, you won’t be sorry you did!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Ansley Twistleton, the Earl of Scarborough, is at the Wicked Earls Club pondering his dilemma, his mother wants him to host a Christmastide House Party and he finds the idea completely appalling. Ansley suffers from OCD and the thought of strangers in his home violating his rigid schedule is beyond upsetting, especially since his housekeeper wants to retire. As he is leaving he accepts an invitation to join a few of the men on a trip to Tattersall’s – because besides a housekeeper, he needs a horse! He leaves the club and decides to walk home, but he is held up – he fights his attackers and is saved from being blindsided by a woman yelling out a warning and trying to help him. Together they send the attackers fleeing and Ansley offers to walk the woman home.
Willow Harwood is an American living in London, she desperately wants to return to Connecticut and teach. She moved to England eight years ago when her father died and lived with her grandfather, but when he passed, she didn’t have enough money to return and moved to London hoping to find work. She was on her way to the lodging house when she happens upon Ansley being attacked. She helps him without thought and when she finally gets a look at him, she finds he is gorgeous! He walks her to the boardinghouse and where she is treated rudely by the owner after he leaves because she thinks Willow is Ansley’s lover. The next day she goes to an employment registry and is rejected for a position as a governess because of her American accent. She is leaving when Ansley intervenes and offers her the position of housekeeper. She declines, but he convinces her to take tea with him so they can discuss it, while at the tea shop, her land lady sees them together and tells Willow she is not to come back to the house. With nowhere to go and no income, Willow accepts Ansley’s offer and the outrageous salary.
As she settles into her new role, she comes to admire Ansley more and more, she doesn’t find him odd and accepts his need to adhere to a routine, but as time passes, he begins to relax a little. They are both attracted to the other, so much so that when he tells her his mother is coming to host a house party, she considers leaving early so she doesn’t have to see him choosing a bride. She will stay for the house party, but decides to leave right after it ends. She is finishing last minute details for the party when she hears music and finds Ansley playing – they share a kiss and he asks her to be his, she assumes that means mistress and she is going to leave when his mother finds them and Willow runs out of the room. She tries to leave immediately, but Ansley isn’t the only one who is not willing to let her go…
This was a very sweet story with delightful characters and a rather unique storyline. I loved the slow build in Ansley and Willow’s relationship and her complete acceptance of his nature. The love scenes are warm and appropriate to the story, the secondary characters are charming and the HEA is wonderful. The story is short, but it is well written, paced perfectly and very easy to read. This is part of the Wicked Earl’s Club series, but it can easily be read out of order or as a standalone title.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me.*
When a lady helps rescue an Earl, he is smitten. Willow is English and American. When her grandfather died, she has nowhere to go except London to look for a job as a governess. But she has no experience and no references. When Ansley Twistleton, Earl of Scarborough, meets her again at the registry office, he knows he has to give her the job as his new housekeeper. Willow has little experience as a housekeeper, but needs the money to return to America. Ansley knows he can't let her leave. Willow doesn't want to go. I really enjoyed this quick read with little to no angst. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

My review :
When a woman rewarded for her help is being hired as a housekeeper by a lord, what is she to make of their attraction.
Mrs Collette Cameron with this new addition to the Wicked Earls’ Club series offers a sweet and bright read. Despite the shortness of this story, the characters are perfectly painted, their qualities and society’s seen shortcomings well developed, so much I rooted for them and loved to see them navigate the muddy water of the employer-employee relationship while drawn to each other.
Ansley is no usual lord, he is plagued with obsessive-compulsive disorder, his whole life is scheduled and disruptions cause him troubles, plus he avoids as much as possible to meddle with his peers. But everything is derailed upon his first encounter with a lovely fearless miss. From then, his so ordained life takes a new turn, and it seems to bother him far less it should have. Willow has the course of life once more hampered, she was one more told there is no room for her because of her heritage. When she is proposed an unexpected job’s offer by the very man she helped the night before to defend himself against some miscreants. But what is she to do when their chemistry threatens her position.
Mrs Cameron did a wonderful work at describing the tumult of their heart, the subtle changes of their relationship and the depth of their sentiments. With nuance, she leads her characters in a merry game of hide-and-seek, until their very feelings seize control. A lovely and delightful read, perfect for the season. 5 stars
I was granted an advance copy by the author, and prior to it, I preordered my own. Here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Ansley Twistleton, the Earl of Scarborough is as fixed and rigid as the schedules and routines he religiously adheres to. But he's also of an age where he must consider marriage and loathes the idea of participating in society to do so as he's too socially awkward to ever feel comfortable there.
Willow Harwood, finding herself well-educated but alone in the world, is in desperate need of a governess position so she can save enough to return to her native America. But a chance acquaintance with a dashing earl foils her well-laid plans and though she's nowhere near his loft station, she can't deny the devastating attraction she feels for him.
When Ansley impetuously offers Willow a housekeeper position in his home, she reluctantly accepts; she needs income and has no better options. Bu they're neither one prepared for the irresistible attraction that grows between them as they plan a Christmas house party together.
This was a charming story and it was lovely to see Ansley relaxing and overcoming some of his idiosyncrasies and to see a socially awkward hero in the first place. It was a bit tiresome how often the reasons Willow and Ansley couldn't be together were enumerated, especially given how little Ansley cared for society and the fact that Willow was still educated and fairly gently bred. That said, it was a short book so this didn't go on long enough to truly annoy me. Overall this was a charming, sweet Christmasy story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Earl of Scarborough is book 21 in The Wicked Earl’s Club series. This is Cameron’s second contribution to the group (her first being The Earl of Wainthorp) and she does a marvelous job. In fact, this is Cameron at her best. I adored this story and felt especially drawn to the hero - the Earl of Scarborough, Ansley Twistleton. I think I’m in love. He reminds me of that lovable detective Monk with all his eccentricities. Cameron takes a flawed and at times vulnerable character and handles him with a sensitive touch. His tic is adorable, and so is his “pet” rock. I love that he is so strong and capable of fighting off the bad guys and yet so vulnerable that he needs the touch of the rock in his pocket to calm him. Just a wonderful character. I especially loved how his household does everything they can to ensure that his life goes on without a hitch out of sheer love for the Earl. I liked the heroine Willow Harwood, but Ansley stole the show. “You’re like oxygen to me, Willow. I can scarcely breathe without you.’ Then he was kissing her, wrapping one sinewy arm around her back and cradling her head with the other as he laid her against his shoulder. This wasn’t the tender whisper across her lips she’d experienced in his study. This was a ravenous man. His kisses wicked and wanton.” Bravo Ms. Cameron! I think this goes on my shelf as one of my very favorite books - certainly one that I will read over and over again. I was given a copy of this book.
Oh my, Author Collette Cameron had me laughing so much while reading, The Earl of Scarborough. This book will have you in tears from laughing at the antics of the Ansley and Willow. I haven't enjoyed reading a book such as this in a long time. By the time you get near the end, you realize what a true fairytale romance this was. I'm only sad the book had to end.
Collette Cameron has written a great addition to the Honorable Rogues series and "Earl of Scarborough" is a great endorsement for it, and a fantastic historical romance that tackles a very real issue for many people.
Another very entertaining story by Ms Cameron. Ansley has "peculiarities", that make it difficult for him to fit into society easily. Willow is struggling to find a job as a governess. I loved the circumstances of their first meeting, that allowed them to see their true selves right away - his wit, confidence and honour, her strength, courage and kindness. Highly recommend.
He's a little bit OCD, sticks to a strict regimen, sarcastic, socially awkward, introverted, enigmatic, has a pet rock of sorts, has a nervous tic, and...I love him. He's Ansley Twistleton, the Earl of Scarborough. In addition to that, he's as handsome as all get out, tall, strong (yes, he works out) and smart. He's easily agitated and gets stressed out when his routine is disrupted no matter what the reason.
Willow Harlow is an American who has lived in England for the past eight years. She's in London on her own, and hoping to find a job as a governess and earn enough money to go back to Connecticut. When she encounters two ruffians trying to rob a man on the street in the dark, she jumps in there to help the lone man. She's got a sense of justice and gosh darn the consequences. She wasn't about to let this guy try to fight off the robbers by himself, no matter how calm, cool, and collected he was or how well he was handling himself in the fight. She didn't know who he was, but she soon found out and scandal ensued.
Being a housekeeper wasn't on her list of possible careers, but after being treated like offal at the employment registry because she was an American and didn't have a British accent, her chances of getting a governess position were little to none. After the scandal broke, her chances went to zero. She had no choice now. Housekeeping it was and the job was for the Earl of Scarborough.
Acting like he did at the employment registry was not something Ansley ever did. He stepped outside of his comfort zone. The thoughts that were going through his head in this scene had me doubling over with laughter. I hadn't laughed at book like that in a long time. I was almost in tears, it was so funny. I'd never heard of such a thing until Ansley came across with it. I knew then he was my kind of guy.
This is a sweet romance, not a hundred percent clean, but no clothes came off and there were no bedroom scenes. It was so cool to watch Ansley come out of his shell, learn how to deal with his peculiarities in a different way, and to fall in love.
Willow was the perfect match for him. She didn't care about his routines, his OCD ways, the tic of his eye--none of that mattered. She thought they were endearing and never tried to change him. She accepted him and loved him madly.
This is a beautiful love story with two characters who thought the odds were against them (she was an American; a commoner. He was an Earl, part of the English high society) only to prove that love conquers all.
I'd give it more stars for a great cover if I could.

Series: Wicked Earl’s Christmas Publication Date: 11/26/19 Number of Pages: 204
Ansley Twistleton, the Earl of Scarborough is NOT spontaneous. He adheres to rigid habits and schedules – no variations – no surprises. Variations cause him to be anxious and set his nerves on edge. Then, he is attacked one evening as he’s walking away from the Wicked Earl’s Club. Two men bent on taking his purse and him determined they won’t – and then – out of nowhere comes an avenging angel – with an umbrella.
Half English, half American Willow Harwood has just arrived in London where she’ll be seeking a governess position. All she needs to do is earn enough money to pay her fare back to America. After her American father passed away, her English mother brought her to England – now her mother has died and the grandfather to whom she had become attached has passed on as well. After her arrival in London, she’d chosen to walk the several miles to her new lodging house. When she’s nearly there, she notices a man being attacked by two men and she rushes to his aid.
During several unplanned interactions in the next few days, Willow unwittingly manages to turn Ansley’s life on end. Somehow, none of that bothers him. His schedule being impacted doesn’t seem so bad and if he misses his bedtime – well – it couldn’t be helped. Even the subsequent scandal is of no matter. It is becoming rapidly apparent that the only thing that does matter is Willow.
This is a lovely, fun read and I enjoyed watching Willow and Ansley overcome all of the obstacles thrown in their path (including each other). Their HEA was well earned and hard-won.
What an fantastic book! It was full of humor that kept me smiling most of the way through it & the characters were all so engaging that you couldn't wait to turn to the next page.
Ansley Twistleton, the Earl of Scarborough is the "shining star" of this story with his very strictly organized schedule, he is socially inept & so sarcastic that he even questions his own sanity. He keeps a rock in his pocket to rub if he becomes agitated & he has a nervous tic but he was Greek God handsome with a physique to match & he is intelligent. Who could resist a earl like Ansley? And then one night he met Willow Harwood.
Willow was half American & half English & was born & raised in Connecticut for the first 14 years of her life & when her father died, her Mother took Willow back to her father's home in England where she had been well educated. After her Mother died & later her Grandfather, the people in the little town of Cambridgeshire were not kind to her so she struck out for London to find a position as a governess.
It all begins her for Ansley & Willow - they are thrown together due to no fault of their own & the places it takes them along with all the humor, scandals & romance is a fun & touching story that does take them to their HEA. Collette Cameron never disappoints with her entertaining books & wonderful characters - I know you will enjoy this as much as I did!
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
Ansley Cecil Huxley Twistleton, Earl of Scarborough has an obsession with schedules and inflexible routines. Willow Harwood must quickly secure a governess position and save enough money to return to America. Only, her plans are foiled when she rushes to the rescue of a devastatingly handsome earl in the process of being robbed. Neither is prepared for the upheaval to their lives when she reluctantly accepts his offer of employment…as his housekeeper. I’m sorry that this is the last Wicked Earl for this year but the series ends on a high. An utterly charming read. I loved Ansley with his obsessions & routines & how he grew throughout the book. Willow is the very intelligent half English half American woman who is strong, caring & organised, together they complete each other. The story is very well paced & I just loved it, one of the joys of the author’s books is her turn of phrase, which are brilliant, funny & spot on. There were some new earls mentioned at the club so I hope there will more Wicked Earls next year. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Too short to be properly developed, I still found this to be a decent novella. I could’ve done without the mentions of the H’s previous mistresses, but given there were only two, he could barely remember them, it’d been a year and a half since his last mistress, he didn’t visit bordellos, and he didn’t partake in casual flings, I could deal with it.
I liked that the heroine of this book was half American. I think that’s a new one for this author. I didn’t like that the H hasn’t even considered asking the h to marry him when he asked her to “be his”. That was a little maddening. However, given the H’s quirks, I didn’t find it totally unbelievable that he would be disconnected from his emotions.
No intimate scenes, no OP drama, safe.

Ansley Cecil Huxley Twistleton, Earl of Scarborough, is a man with certain... peculiarities, and impulsive decisions are not one of them. Willow Harwood is a commoner and a half-American whom the Earl hires as his housekeeper - impulsively. What has possessed him? Ansley and Willow’s sweet story details his transformation. A Christmas tale to fall in love with!
** I was provided with an ARC copy of this book. **
A different take on the couple from different worlds. I enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting individually. The development of their relationship is accidental and quite amusing in places.
Earl of Scarborough: The Honorable Rogues™ is part of the Wicked Earls' Christmas series by Collette Cameron. It can easily be read as a standalone story so don't worry if you haven't read any of the other books.
This isn't the first Collette Cameron book I have read and it certainly won't be the last. What I love about her story writing is that no matter the length of the book, in this case, a novella, the story is full, and the characters well thought out with decent histories.
In this book, we have Ansley, Earl of Scarborough. His mother is constantly at him to marry, but it's the last thing he can deal with. He suffers from OCD, of course, undiagnosed in that era, and it's as much as he can do to make sure he keeps to his routines. He couldn't cope with the upheaval a wife would bring to his life.
Willow Harwood is an American who has spent half of her life in the English countryside but circumstances and prejudices find her in London looking for a Governess job in order to earn her fare back to America. Before even reaching the boarding house where she will be staying she comes across a man being attacked by two unsavoury men. That man is Ansley. She can't help but come to his aid, even though it is only armed with an umbrella. That is how our couple meet.
Circumstances occur which find Ansley offering Willow a job as his housekeeper, at least until such times as she can find a job as a governess. Prejudices will always be against her being an American, so she takes the position.
It isn't long before she realises Ansley's idiosyncrasies and works around them. The more time they spend together the more they find each other attracted to each other. But with their class differences and the fact that she is an American Willow knows it would be stupid to even dream of a future with him. She needs to leave, preferably before he does what his mother demands and chooses another woman for a wife.
The attraction between our couple is strong, and it's more than just lust that they feel for each other. Is there any way that they can be together?
I really enjoyed this couple's story and felt so happy for Ansley when he discovered that with focusing less on his routine and more on Willow that his anxiety about change lessened. I also felt for Willow too because the prejudice she had to deal with was so cruel. As I said, the story might have been short, but it still made me run the gamut of emotions just as if I had read a full-length book. To me, that makes a perfect novella. That, and of course, a happy ending!
I happily recommend this book and I look forward to the next in the series or any book that is forthcoming from this particular author!
From the very beginning, you know that Ainsley, the Earl of Scarborough is going to have problems with finding a wife. He is obsessive, anxious and has a tic. He sticks blindly to a schedule and doesn't interact much with people. Even though he is a member of the Wicked Earls Club he is anything but wicked. Coming home from the club one night he is attacked by a ruffian ont he street. He is holding his own until a second attacker appears. Meanwhile, a woman, Willow Harwood, is on her way to her new lodgins when she sees the scuffle. When the second attacker appears, Willow jumps in to help the Earl. The next day, the Earl is at an employment agency looking for a new housekeeper and he runs into Willow again who has just been turned down as a potential governess because of her American accent. When the Duke sees her being treated unfairly, he offers her the housekeeper position. She takes the position but the two in the same house makes it hard to avoid the attraction between them. It has probably been there from the beginning but once they are always running into each other when the move to the country it is hard to deny. When the Earl's mother shows up, she helps tehm both realize that their feelings are more real than the problems with their social standing. It all laeds to a most wonderful Happily Ever After.
The most imperfect, but absolutely perfect hero, the Earl of Scarborough stole my heart and still has not let go! What's a reader to do? Hopefully see it released on audible and fall in love again! (hint). There are just so many wonderful things I want to tell you about this story, but unfortunately, it would be the entire book! Collette Cameron continues to creates stories that are awe-inspiring, bringing to life characters that have you laughing, sighing and tugging at the heart for their challenges in life and their triumphs. Ansley, the Earl of Scarborough was a man of routine, order and precision and when he stepped outside of his comfort zone, it did not always go well. But he was trying, visiting the Wicked Earls club and getting to know the gentleman. When he met Willow Harwood, his, as well as her life would never be the same! Willow helped save him from an attack by ruffians and he in turn saved her from ending up on the street! A magical tale that I will long remember and read again to be sure.. Thank you Collette for bringing such happiness to my life with your amazing gift!
I received an ARC of this book from the author Collette Cameron. I feel so fortunate to have had the luck to read this beautiful love story. Ansley, the Earl with a few peculiarities, and Willow, the half American, half English young lady who wishes to be a governess were destined to have an attraction for each other from the start. There were obstacles in their way such as their social standing in society, but Ms. Cameron gave a twist in this story where she had a hero with slightly quirky habits and the heroine's ability to adore these habits rather than find them a nuisance. Well done, Ms.Cameron....a beautiful love story.
You can’t go wrong with an of Ms Camerons books. They are filled with humor and romance. You just have to love the way she uses language such as silly names and funny and unusual words to describe the different characters actions and behaviours. They constantly keep you smiling. This story was no different. The characters were well written with the usual sensitivity, humor and great character. I enjoyed the story being the different story line to the usual Ton stories. It was a joy to read and was a quick and easy read. There was no sex but lots of looks, thoughts and kisses. I received this as an ARC and was happy to do my review.
A beautiful story. Ansley is OCD to a fault, Willow is seeking to go back to America where she thinks she belongs. Can one woman change the ways of Ansley? There is an attraction that overcomes all. Wonderful characters. I recommend this book.
This enchanting story starts with a commoner lady saving the life of a titled man. From there it just gets better and better. I thoroughly loved this story!!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Ansley Twistleton. He has so many quirks, you didn't know what he would do next. The humor had me laughing all the way through the book as I turned the pages.
This series of the Wicked Earls Club has been absolutely fantastic, not sure if it is the Christmas spirit or brilliant writing, think I will choose the brilliant writing.❤️
This story of the Earl of Scarborough, Ansley Twistleton is a man with a disability, who must have his life in order, time he sleeps, time he visits places, he even has a small stone he keeps to rub on to help his nerves, a little gift to clam himself when life turns awkward.
Until one evening he leaves his club, at the exact time he usually does to walk home, unbeknown to him three big thugs tried to rob him, enter Willow Hardwoods, and her umbrella ☺️ she helps fight of the robbers and in that moment Ansley is taken with this women’s courage, intelligence and lets face it also her looks.😉
Ansley finally hires Willow as his housekeeper, although he finds he is able to do so much more with his life since Willow entered it, a calming influence, one that most of us need in our lives.
Willow is trying very hard to conceal her feelings for the Earl but finds it extremely hard as time moves on, he is her employer, even though she finds her feelings are not of an employee.
While going to make a cup of tea one night, she runs into the man himself. I am going to take Ms Cameron words here. I looked at him and I was a quivering mass of custard, just like the dessert the sensation was sweet and warm and so so delicious. Loved those words in exactly the right moment, so talented to be able to create the mood. Although my words are not exactly the same, that’s for others to read.
Ansley Twistleton is everyone’s idea of the perfect man, which is saying a lot, you cannot help but love him
I can associate with this character so much, Ms. Cameron’s almost decried myself.
There are times in ones life that an author can create a character in her mind and it flows into others lives, this is the book that did it for me.
The blurb has told you what the book is about, I highly recommend this book, for the highs and lows people can overcome.
Highly recommend this second series, in The Wicked Earls Club.
I was given an ARC for an honest review, but I also bought it in appreciation of the authors work.
Willow Harwood is half American and half British. Her grandfather has passed and she is searching for a job so she can save enough money to return to America. The problem, no one wants to hire an American (even half). While heading to home (where she has rented a room) she comes upon a Gentleman of the ton who is being attacked by two assailants. She yells to let the gentleman know one thug is coming from behind and manages to help the man. Ansley Twistleton, is quite shocked to get help from a young woman. He manages to defeat the thugs and decides to walk Willow to where she is boarding. The matron is quite rude and judgemental but allows Willow to stay. Ansley is quite unique. He has quirks that some would call on the spectrum (in modern days) and must keep to a rigid schedule to keep his Tic and anxiety away. Willow has certainly made it difficult. She does not leave his mind. While hiring a new housekeeper he runs into Willow again and finds she is looking for work. He is appalled that no one will hire her because of her American accent. He spontaneously (an action he is quite shocked about) offers Willow the job. He takes her to tea to formalized the offer. While having tea some gossips make it very difficult for Willow and she loses her lodgings. Now she has no choice but to accept Ansley's position. Now the fun starts. Learning his quirks, Willow succeeds as housekeeper. While some find his quirks off putting, she find him charming and is attracted to him. Ansley finds when he is with her he doesn't need to do many things that would normally control his life. When his mother comes to help plan a Christmas Ball. She finds that Willow is just the thing her son needs to help guide him through life. What a romantic, delightful story!
Willow has just arrived in London. While making her way to the boarding house she is planning on saying at, she encounters a nobleman being robbed. She jumps in and helps him out. He is grateful and walks her to her new lodgings. The next day at the employment agency, Willow is told that because she is American that no one will want to hire her as a governess. On her way out, she runs into the man that she aided the previous night.
Ansley is in need of a new housekeeper. When he arrives at the employment agency, he is shocked to see Willow. He is even more shocked that he offers her the position as his housekeeper, even though she has no previous experience. Ansley is not good with people, but he finds that he can talk to Willow and he soon finds himself falling for her.
Will Ansley make his new housekeeper an improper offer or will he go against the grain and ask for her hand in marriage?
I loved Willow and Ansley's story!! I loved watching how Ansley was more the person that he wanted to be when he was with Willow. He became less rigid with his routine and more comfortable around others. This was a great addition to the Wicked Earls series!
I loved, loved this story. It hit all the right buttons for me. A handsome lord with a few inconveniences and inflexible adherence to schedules and routines. A bright, effervescent, spinsterish American miss wanting to earn enough funds so she can return to America after her English grandfather dies. They meet when she helps thwart a robbery of the said lord. Once Willow Harwood enters Ansley Cecil Huxley Twistleton’s life, it will never be the same. Ms. Cameron excelled with this work in how she developed the story and the chemistry between Ansley and Willow. Her descriptive phrases about Ansley’s habits and demeanor and the gradual changes he underwent after he met Willow really drew me into his character. And Willow, what a delight and a perfect foil for Ansley. She brought him peace and made him happy. Don’t miss reading this one. It is sure to delight you as it did me.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this work and have also pre-ordered/purchased the book. All opinions stated in my review are voluntary and my own opinion.
Enjoyed reading an ARC of this story about two people that don’t quite fit in society, but find they fit well together. Ansley Twistleton, the Earl of Scarborough, likes his life very well-ordered & predictable. Willow Harwood is anything but predictable. She’s half-English, half-American, & wholly determined to find a teaching position in London. Following her beloved grandfather’s death, Willow’s left her home in Cambridgeshire to seek employment. She’s hoping to earn enough money to return to her birthplace in America. Ansley & Willow twice meet under unconventional circumstances, & despite their differences, feel a strong pull towards one another. Despite their easy friendship & shared feelings, they know social class barriers make being together difficult. I was definitely rooting for them to overcome the hurdles & end up celebrating a happy Christmas together!
