When Ace gets accepted into the prestigious Franklin Universal High, her goals include studying and more studying. High marks in all her classes are the path to being a cardiothoracic surgeon like her beloved stepdad. She has no plans on falling for anyone, especially not the hot jock who keeps staring at her. The athletes at FU High have the worst reputation and she refuses to let one climb into her jeans—no matter how nice Owen “Fast” McCoy seems.
It only takes one look for Owen to know that Alice “Ace” Alister is the girl for him. He’s eighteen but he knows what he wants—a successful football season and the new transfer. He’ll do whatever it takes to achieve those goals from extra practices to joining the sewing club. He won’t give up until he becomes the ace of her heart.
Warning: If you liked this book, you won't like this review
In the event that any teenager ever reads this book and thinks "Oh, that's how I should behave?", I'm writing this review to say: hell, no.
Some spoilers ahead. Though, this book is so predictable that I'm sure you could guess what happens and how it ends even before I spoil anything. Also, sorry if this review is harsh. My bullshit meter is now reaching the red zone when it comes to these lazily written and outdated romance book plots. I'm sooo very over some of the things that (especially) women are taught are "okay and normal" in chick lit/ romance books. Just no. Nope. Not having any of it anymore.
So here's what I thought was very wrong with these two characters in this so-called romance book.
The guy, Owen, is a stalker, who finds out the girl's, aka Alice's, name and school schedule, because he wants to marry her, because she bought a poor girl a milkshake. No additional info needed! Heart of gold due to being kind to a poor person! Oh, and Alice has big tits, which helps. He then follows her around their new school until she gives in and supposedly falls right in insta-love with him. He claims her as 'his' before anyone can even say "hello" to her. He tries to come in between her and her only new friend, Melody. He tenses up whilst waiting to hear if she's a virgin, because that's apparently still a thing that people think is super important - virginity: making you a special snowflake since the era of Puritanism..? He then makes her swear she won't have sex with any other guy. He imagines "taking her" against every available horizontal surface, because that's totally hot? And he punches himself in the dick to get rid of a boner, because apparently that's the only way he can control himself. He pushes himself into Alice's life and alienates or gets rid of everyone who tries to get close to her. Aaaaaaand so on.
And she's no better. Alice makes a big deal about her school year being about "studying, and no boys", and yet it takes her less than a school day to kiss Owen and doodle his name into a notebook. She also uses violence against a guy (i.e., she punches a dude in his nethers) because she didn't like him hitting on her. Her 'sex' keeps clenching at the sight of Owen and his muscles, because she can't control herself either. She allows a boy to take over her life within just a day, because of omg, dimples. And later, she can't even plan her pregnancies, even though she's a goddamn doctor. When did oopsie-babies become a thing people liked reading about?! Even when the babies are wanted, why make them accidental surprise-babies? Whyyyy?
This book is just a collection of chick lit high-school tropes. It's unoriginal to the max. And honestly, even if it is just a quick light read, you should fill your head with better ideas than the ones presented in this book.
I’m loving these shorties by Ella Goode. They are safe reads with sweet heroines and alpha heroes who will do anything for his girl. This one is set in high school. I was a little afraid it might have som immature behavior. A few side characters were, but the main couple were perfect. I loved it.
I don't read many high school romances anymore, but I absolutely loved this one by Ella Goode! Owen was so freaking sweet and determined; I loved him and his tenderness towards Alice so much. The multiple epilogues at the end were a little much, but overall this was a sweet and sexy HEA ♡
I could kick myself that I’ve had this on my kindle and hasn’t read it yet. I adored Owen and Ace. Especially Owen, he was damn near perfection. The way he loved Ace was amazing.
-no cheating -not very steamy. No sex scenes until around 80% -secondary characters. Most of his team mates were jerks with the exception of Carter. I will not be reading their stories if they happen to get one. I will be reading Carter’s -dual virgin which was amazing -great epilogues I wish it would have focused more on the family (ex children names etc) instead of her career but it was still a great epilogue
No podría nunca resistirse a él aunque pudiera.
I didn’t know what kind of book I was going to get myself into, but if you want a no fuss, no muss, super cute, fast easy and slightly smutty read, then I think this is the perfect author for you.
I would call this a super smutty book, but it’s a fairly short book with an insta-love story with two teens.
The best part of the book is the sweetness of it all and how adorable the Hero was. Who doesn’t love the Hero going after the girl of his dreams and a down-to-earth Heroine.
I’ll probably seek this author out for more sweet, short reads for when I’m in the mood for these.
A simple act of kindness is just one of the things that brings Alice to the attention of Franklin U High Schools football player Owen. He'd already fallen head over heels with just a look but witnessing her and her mothers kindness to a young girl and her mother in the food court of the mall and he knew in that moment he'd met the girl, the girl he was going to marry.
Alice and her mom know what it's like to struggle but they had each other. When her mom re-married they were lucky. He was rich and he adored them both. Alice has never wanted for anything. She's down to earth and all she wants to do is fit in at her new school. Stay under the radar and just get through her senior year. What Alice did not expect was Owen. Her only goal has been to finish high school at the top of her class and then onto college and medical school. She wants to be a surgeon.
It's always been Owen and his mom. She has supported him and his dream of playing football. Owen is a good guy. Football has been his life and his dream of being drafted and providing a better life for his mom has been his end game. But seeing Alice he now has a new goal and thats to have her in his life forever.
Who knew high school could be so damn hot. Who knew high school boys could dirty talk like a pro. But they do and they do it extremely well. Sweet read, steamy read and the epilogue at the end (there a few) are an added bonus. An automatic one click author for me.
3.5 "sweetness overdose" stars . Oh, young love... so cute!
🏈🩺 Romantic steamy novella 🏈🩺 High school sweethearts, both seniors over 18, both virgins 🏈🩺 Fotball player vs science lover 🏈🩺 Love at first sight, guy falls first
Owen is the sweetest guy. For under 120 pages, this novella delivers quite a lot compared to, lets say Alexa Riley.
It was not perfect, not by a long shot. There was a wasted opportunity for more dialogue. But there was no drama. And did I mention it was cute?
I needed something super light and fluffy after a night where I was unable to sleep and then had to try and wake my brain up during the commute to work - this did the trip.
I really enjoyed this story. Warning this story does deal with high school kids, they are 18 but still in high school. Owen was a great guy and great boyfriend who knew instantly that he was going to marry his “Ace”. Alice tried to fight the connection between her and Owen but he was her soulmate so it was pointless. You can never escape fate!
Safety and Spoilers Completely safe. No ow drama. Om drama, one of the football players crudely makes a pass at Alice. She is no shrinking violet and slaps him and Owen definitely makes him pay later. There are mentions of other football players being pigs and behaving badly and the behaviour is accepted, Owen is disgusted by this.
I hope we get a story for Melody and maybe Carter, he seemed a little mysterious and would like to know more about him.
I thought that this one was just okay. There was nothing special here and it's super forgettable. That sucks because I love high school romances. It was too predictable with mediocre characters and plot.
Quick, easy, sweet and sexy young adult romance. It's a first love -- true love story. A hot jock and a brainiac medical student who aren't your typical high school, college or young adults. They are exceptional in so many ways with kind and loving hearts. It's a feel-good story.
Decent story to read at night when you are trying to go to sleep and need something easy and cute to drift off to. Little to no angst and a little too much heat for a book set in a High school setting for me, but it was expected from this author so didn't put me off. :)
This was a pretty decent high school romance.. the guy wasnt a dick and the girl wasn't clueless and wasn't annoying.. praise that lol
Owen lord he was a great boyfriend and friend he knew what he wanted and went after it.. also he was a gentleman and made sure those guys knew not to mess with his girl... Heck he enjoyed sewing to spend more time with Alice and learned sorta how to sew like boyfriend points!!!
As for Alice aka Ace.. she was a sweetheart and didn't take shit from anyone.. her heart was telling her one thing and her mind another it was a tiny fight but she gave in and enjoyed high school with new friends and her new boyfriend.
So far the football players are trash well billy lol and the ones we don't know.. I can't wait to read more.. i need to see Carters story he is mysterious.. and same with mel.. I tiny wish there was more sex.. or oral :( I wanna know since there no condom use or any birth control she didn't get knocked up??
No cheating, no ow drama sorta om drama (creepy pigs), dramaish, secondary chadas, sexy times, Both virgin's
Recommend- yes/maybe Cover-⭐⭐⭐
Slowish-insta Push/pull from h High school crowd No condom Hea Epilogue

Owen knows the second he sees Alice that he's found his one, and it's not her beauty that gets him, it's her pure heart. Starting a new school, his ability to catch any ball thrown his way making him in high demand, he counts to the first day, just knowing he'll see his Ace, as he calls her, again.
Alice is a gifted student, and, after too many years at a private school she detested, she jumps at the chance to attend one that's more normal when her stepdad gets a promotion. She knew it was the next step toward her future, she just never expected to meet the person she'd be sharing it with.
Owen is smitten with Alice from the get-go. She is the only girl he sees and is determined to get her to fall for him too. Psst...it doesn't take long at all.
One-click now and read this delightful (and oh so safe) story of two high school seniors that have their eyes on the future, and each other, with no drama, no wishy-washy feelings, and a Hero and heroine that you fall in love with.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
I absolutely loved this book. Alice and Owen are both new at school. Owen knows that Ace is going to be his the moment he sees her at the mall. Now to convince her to take a chance on him and that he’s now like other guys!! Owen is charming and funny. He knows what he wants and goes after it. Honestly, Ace never stood a chance against the dimple!!!
-safe read -dual virgins -no real ow/om drama -great epilogues (3 years, 10 years and 5 more years)
This book was phenomenal. Maybe it just hit me at the right time, or I was in the right mood but it was exactly what I was looking for without me realizing what I was looking for.
Yes, Owen and Alice aka Ace, were in high school, but they didn't feel immature. Both were mature and I loved their friendship slid into a relationship.
Yes, the book moves fast, but it never FEELS fast.
The chemistry is amazing between Owen and Ace. And I'll admit that I absolutely loved that he knew she was it for him after the first time he saw her. That conversation with his mom when he dropped the bomb on her that he'd bet the girl he was going to marry...PRICELESS.
Owen was the perfect alpha. I loved how he knew exactly what he wanted and he went after her.
This was my first book by Ella Goode, but it definitely won't be my last!
Alice (Ace) is getting ready to start her final year at Franklin Universal High. It is a school for athletes, artists and bright students. Ace has a plan to focus on her studying but she meets Owen who has already proclaimed that she is his one. Ace is not wanting to fall for Owen but he quickly becomes everything.
This was pretty fun. Reminded me of Talons Heart a bit. I thought this was fun, it was a quick read.
I loved Ace of Hearts. It was sweet, sexy and it didn't have too many dramatic scenes in that—admittedly, that was my fear that could happened when I saw it was a story from FU High. And now I even hope there will be another stories about some characters I found truly interesting.
Love my dual virgin stories! Ella Goode does them so well. Her male characters are what dreams are made of.
-dual virgins -dual POV -insta-love -no cheating -no abuse -each others one and only
Now, I've received messages from a few people to keep building my dual virgin shelf and believe me...I'm trying. They just have to be written first. I loved Ace Of Hearts and hope Carter gets a story in the future. Hope he's at least not a scum bag like a couple other side characters in this one. Don't want stories on them.😀 Great job, once again. Can't wait for more.
Omg this is like the perfect book! I freaking loved it! No unnecessary drama, devoted hero who's also funny, sweet and protective of his girl. I loved that he knew from the moment he saw her, and even told his mom he was going to marry her. So cute. There was just enough steam and lots of chemistry. And both characters were mature. They didnt feel young even though it was high school, which was refreshing. I loved that both their parents were good people and were supportive. There absolutely nothing bad I can say! Perfection.
Oh goodness, Ace of hearts is so hilarious and sweet. Oh so sweet. The YA genre usually isn't my cup a tea. This novella left me pleasantly surprised. A simple act of kindness brought this couple together. Owen was so funny and Ace was goal oriented. Together they balanced each other perfectly. I read an advanced copy of this book.
“Not really,” I admit. “I’m eighteen and haven’t had my dick in anything but my hand so it’s kinda hard for me to hear you say stuff like that and not want to tear a hole in your jeans and fuck you up against the wall but it’s our first day so I’m trying really hard to make a good impression here.”
Alice and Owen. I normally don’t read young adult romances because I think young adult easily to break up and moving on. They are not stable when their relationship are having troubles. But this one really became my cup of tea.
I wish I knew some of the girls so I could set up a good friend group for her. I try and think of the guys on the team who are dating. I haven’t really paid attention to the SOs in the group because that shit didn’t interest me before, but now that I’ve got Ace, I’m probably going to be hanging out with those guys more.
Don’t get me wrong. The other guys are the shit, but they’ve got girls crawling all over their dicks. Ace would not be down for that. And, frankly, neither am I. If another guy so much as breathes near her, my hands will turn into fists. For example, JJ Anderson has been staring at Ace about two seconds too long.
I love the epilogue of so many years after they still have Happy Ever After and I am so moved and touched about everything they both sacrificed for each other. Both virgin and I am so glad, Owen is not some immature kids at high school. He was not interested in other girls until he met Ace.
I mean, I knew I wanted her from the first moment I laid eyes on her, and I knew she was my forever girl when I saw how she treated that girl and her mom, but I didn’t really understand how she was going to rock my world until I laid my mouth on hers.
We’re not really kissing. We’re making promises without words. I’m telling her that I’ll lay down my life to make her happy and she’s telling me she trusts me.
I didn’t mean to write such a long review, but I am really like this one. Some plots was a little boring, but the whole story was really perfected because I am awed of how Owen did for Ace. He waited for Ace, he never pushed her, he respected her, so so much. He really absolutely treating her like she was his queen.
BF: Ace, thought you were going to text me when you got home? BF: Give a man a break here. One text isn't going to kill you. It will kill me.
I fire back a quick response.
Me: I was in the shower. Sorry.
I could have told him I was in bed or talking to my parents but I wanted him to know I was in the shower. My body still buzzes from our makeout session.
BF: You cannot tell me shit like that.
I don’t have to fight a smile this time. We aren’t face to face for him to read every detail of what I am thinking. I’m pretty sure I show everything on my face like Mom does.
Me: Want to tell me why your number is labeled as BF?
I tease. He must have done it when he took my phone to do the calendar exchange and put his number in.
BF: Best friends? Me: If you say so.
Owen was a sexy and hot football player, lots of girls would like throw themselves on him. So, Ace didn’t want to have a relationship with him at first. He understood and respected her, she wanted they just to be friend, ok, so be it. As long as Ace was happy.
“Ace, girl, I fucking love you,” I whisper into her hair. “I’m gonna take care of you for the rest of my life. ‘Kay?”
“‘Kay,” she answers softly, nuzzling her nose into my sweat-soaked neck.
We sit like that for a long time—me in my unbuttoned jeans and my T-shirt clinging to my back and her nude, tucked into my embrace. I still want to fuck her. I still want to plunge my hard cock into that hot, tight, wet sex of hers. But this is good. This moment of tenderness and love and sweetness is good.
You can never have enough good moments in life.
Owen waited eight weeks, and he still planed waiting for Ace, until she was ready, he wanted to have her the best, and never wanted to mess up. This story was filled with more heartwarming plots than sexual scenes, because Owen was a true man, he wasn’t a patient guy, but he still was patient and cherished Ace.
Ace pulls me through the kitchen, past the great room and up the stairs.
I stop halfway. “Ace, baby, I think I should go home.” Being alone with her in this place is too much temptation. Already my head’s emptying of all thoughts but one—how fast I can get her naked.
“Nope. You’re going to come to my bedroom and take my virginity,” she states boldly. “I’ve waited until the season is over, but I’m impatient and horny. I’m tired of rubbing myself and wondering what it would be like to have your dick inside me. Either you come upstairs with me or I’m throwing you down on the stairs and mounting you like a horse.”
My jaw drops open and I freeze. But only for a second. At the next tick of the clock hand, I have Ace over my shoulder and I’m racing for her room. Her laughter dies the moment I cup her hot sex through her jeans.
“Owen,” she sighs. I rub her through the denim. “Yeah, baby?”
“I’ve wanted this for a long time. Why’d you make me wait?” “The hell if I know,” I admit, lowering her to the ground when I reach her bed. “I guess I wanted you to know that I wasn’t into you for your smoking hot body.”
“That moment passed like eight weeks ago.” “We started dating eight weeks ago.”
“Exactly.” She smiles up at me. I melt. Well, my heart melts.
I am so happy, they all had each other’s first time. They were each other’s first, and sure thing they were each other’s last.
“Love you, Ace,” he breathes against my skin. “Always have and always will.” Tears prick my eyes thinking about how lucky I am. Young love doesn’t always last but we have.
Things aren’t always easy but we have both sacrificed for each other. That’s what people do when they love one another.
Owen did a lot for Ace, and the same for Ace. She supported him and accompanied him to New York to achieving his dream, and her, at the same time finishing her university, ending up being a wonderful Doctor.
Epilogue was 10 years later, Owen planned to retiring and going back to their original city when Ace was pregnant.
“I’m retiring.” I give a small shrug. Her mouth falls open.
“Plus, I knocked you up.” Her eyes go so round I fight not to laugh. “It’s my turn to give. I’m going to be one of those stay-at-home dads.” I smile thinking about it. I never had a dad. Not until Ace’s.
Plus, I know our parents will want to be hands-on. I also know Ace will feel a whole lot better knowing she has all of us to help. Not to mention it has always been her dream to work beside her dad. Now she can do that. She has made all of my dreams come true and now it is my turn to return the favor.
“But-” She starts to shake her head. That mind of hers is finally playing catch-up.
“I’m not resigning my contract. We’re going home.” I grab her chin to stop her head from slowly shaking back and forth. “We’re growing our family. We got this. We’re going to have it all.”
Her eyes start to fill with tears but a smile forms on her plump lips. “I love you.”
“Love you too, Ace.” I kiss her long and deep. She wraps around me as I carry her back to our bed where I can make love to her again.
Omg i am so in love with this story!!!😭😭😭
We’ll always be each other's home but I am taking her back to where it all started. To where she turned me from a boy to a man.
Just as Owen said, to where she turned him from a boy to a man.♥️♥️♥️

There's just something about young love that lasts forever. Alice and Owen's story was a freaking cheesefest and over the top swoony. He was a perfect book boyfriend and she was the perfect book girlfriend.
I loved the two epilogues that gave a glimpse of their lives years later. I really really loooooved seeing how the characters lives panned out after so many years of being together.
