The Collapse changed everything. Good men became killers. Strong women became property.
And every day turned into a fight for survival.

I once dreamed of becoming a nurse. That dream went up in flames the same day I graduated nursing school, when women were banned from holding any kind of medical license.

Now as an unlicensed medic, I travel what was once the southwestern United States, trading medical services for food, transportation, and shelter with the hopes of reaching Canada.

Because the United States is no more. And the lawless land that’s replaced it is a deadly place for a woman.

My worst fear comes true when I’m captured by the Steel Demons MC, the most ruthless biker gang in the Southwest. These men thrive on the violence and chaos brought on by the Collapse, and they’re eager to unleash it all on me.

It doesn’t even matter that the President’s dog likes me. I’m as good as dead.

Sons of Anarchy meets The Handmaid's Tale in this dystopian reverse harem adventure! This wild ride is not for the faint of heart and contains adult themes that may be triggering.

Umm.... just no. The heroine lives in a extremely misogynistic post apocalyptic world where she is a nurse/medic/doctor. Women are treated so badly that a 16 year old girl was raped in the first couple of chapters and everyone shrugged it off like it just happens. Yeah... NO! I don't want to read shit like this for entertainment. All the women in the book except for the heroine were just doormats. I don't find books like this sexy and I sure don't want to read how woman are being kidnapped, breed, raped, and the only jobs are ones where they sell themselves. In no point any anyone's history did things get that bad. I did not finish this book after the 16 year old girl was beaten, raped, and brushed it off like this just happens... Yeah, NO!

I feel like I may be slightly romanising some pretty big red flags, but I really liked this book. Yes, the triggers are …. triggering & the MMCs can be problematic, but if you temporarily put on some pretty big blinders you can hardly see them.

I read a review that said you have to turn your feminist brain off to enjoy this book and truer words have never been spoken. I'm going to try and make this review spoiler-free (except triggers), but if I split up... sorry.

⚠️Triggers⚠️
1 Frequent mentions of SA - it's a constant threat mentioned throughout
2 SA of a minor (off-page)
3 Abuse of a minor (off-page)
4 Mentions of slavery
5 Mentions of sex slavery
6 Prostitution

The general consensus is that the treatment of women in the apocalypse is piss poor. Their rights have been completely stripped and they are treated as possessions. It very much mirrors the handmaid’s tale.

We are slightly in the grey area with the MMCs. Their worst traits are that they can be misogynistic and treat sex workers as disposable...but in comparison to some of the other gangs, they are basically princes. My point is they aren't the perfect men, but they all have something that makes them likeable and this is revealed as the book progresses.

When I originally heard bikers, I instantly thought old dudes. However, I believe they are all in their early twenties. The best MMC was hands down Reaper, especially towards the end of the book. He also had the best lines in the book when it came to who he would choose out of the FMC and his dog. The choice was obvious.

For me, I really enjoyed the book. I love an apocalypse read and it featured a lot of triggers I have read before (in this trope), so I wasn't too affected. Maybe I'm slightly desensitized 😶

Anyway, I think you should read it 👏

Fast-Paced and Promising — Frustrating Flaws.

I enjoyed this one — it’s fast-paced, engaging, and easy to fall into. The setup is intriguing, and the story held my interest throughout.

That said, I’m knocking stars for two main reasons:

1. There’s no real ending. The book just stops mid-arc, as if someone sliced it in half. There’s no resolution, no sense of closure or completion. It doesn’t feel like a full instalment — more like half a story.

2. The Spanish is consistently incorrect. If you’re going to include another language — even briefly, in just a few phrases or simple words — it’s worth taking the time to get it right. The repeated mistakes were distracting and, honestly, quite frustrating, especially because they were easily avoidable with minimal research or basic consultation. If I’m completely honest, I did feel a bit offended by the heedless use of the language.

Overall, there’s real potential here. I liked the premise, the concept, and the pace — but the lack of resolution and the careless use of Spanish pulled me out just enough to keep this from landing more strongly, and thus, earning a higher rating.

Reader Be Warned: This book is set in a heavily misogynistic, post-apocalyptic dystopia built around the subjugation of women. As such, it includes rigid gender roles, toxic masculinity, the objectification of women, and depictions of women as property or servants to men. It also contains references to sexual assault, violence, captivity, and trauma.

Getting one's nursing degree should be a time of celebration and feelings of accomplishment. A time of anticipation as Mariposa Wilder contemplates which hospital, clinic, agency, or whatever she'll apply to with her new degree only to find out The Collapse has changed everything. Government no longer exists to serve its' people - anarchy alone now rules.

If Mariposa has learned one lesson to survive Twenty-Second Post-Collapse, it's to hide and never let on that she's anything other than a simpleton woman. The general mindset of current times dictate that women are chattel, their sole purpose to keep their man satisfied and serve as a breeder. If it was found that she had aspirations otherwise, her life would be forfeit as educated females are unlawful and subject to being disposed of. However, there are still parts of the world that treat women equal to men which is why Mari is making the treacherous journey cross country.

Unfortunately, a stopping point to rest and restock her supplies at a service center exposes her to Steel Demons, a ruthless biker club known to protect their turf and punish their enemies with ruthless abandon. No one has ever survived a run in with the Steel Demons which has Mari worried as Reaper, President of Steel Demons, clearly has his eyes on her.

* * * * *

A new series that caught my attention in it's premise. A post apocalyptic reverse harem biker romance advertised as "Sons of Anarchy meets The Handmaid's Tale". Final conclusion: HAWT DAMN !!!!!!!!

A first in series book has an equal responsibility to introduce a world building that makes sense balanced with a romance that anchors it if I am to be a fan. Failure to feature both in a reasonable fashion will lose me sooner than later. While the beginning started out rough (more a personal opinion as I work in health care and had issues with some of the details as presented), I soon found myself immersed as the story progressed. OK. I might have gotten a little overly emotional when the story ended on a mild unexpected and totally frustrating cliffhanger ending but it is what it is and the author's decision to end it that way, with the next installment Powerless scheduled for release Dec 13, 2019, is her decision.

This is a slow burn reverse harem romance series with this first installment providing the framework and featuring the core key players. Only one of the men eventually scores a home run in this story, so fans of true reverse harem stories will have to wait for the full harem to form. I will also add that the adult content intimacy is curling good and graphic but not a factor until the later later portion of the story.

I totally enjoyed the romantic suspense and action/adventure elements to this book that spells out how anarchy and lawlessness shapes this dystopian post apocalypse world. Whether you like it or not, to have a chance of living a semi peaceful life, one has to be the baddest of the bad, feared by one and all, as the Steel Demons have had to.

Secondary characters. There are so many that I really can't list the standouts as there are some good, some bad, and some just U-G-L-Y. As a new release I also avoid any possible spoilers for potential readers. The two characters I will address are Hades & Horus with this qualitative quote by W.C. Fields: "Never work with animals or children." So true. So So true.

My takeaway from this book is that it really doesn't have a standout moment. The action/adventure scenes serve a big portion of the story as the author paces things in a constant progressive journey, bringing the reader along for the ride vs a shock & awe scene followed by down time till the next shock & awe scene, repeat, repeat. On the other hand, the romance elements start out with repeated c*ck block moments that build the suspense factor making it hard to guess when the characters will finally get their chance to seal the deal, if they will at all, and with whom.

I loved this book but with the cautionary warning that it ends on a cliffhanger. A solid biker themed post apocalyptic reverse harem romance that I am definitely a fan of and have already pre-ordered the next installment.

How has Mariposa made it this far without getting killed? She's naive, self-righteous and totally helpless in a fight. And yet she's supposedly managed to survive on her own for years in a world where murder, rape, slavery and death are rampant? It's like the author created a heroine that could be seen as strong in a stable society, but then failed to adapt her into someone with the skills and mindset to survive in an incredibly unstable society.

I really tried liking this because I love post-apocolyptic romances, but this just didn't work for me.

I liked the world-building, but I just found the heroes really gross? I thought their dialogue and POVs were just really awkward and embarrassing at times, and I couldn't really take them seriously:

"Uh, sure." I turned uneasily toward the coffee pot, fumbling for cups with shaking hands. "Call me whatever you like."
"In that case, I might call you Maripos-ass, 'cause damn, mami."

Absolutely not 🧍‍♀️.

"The world you have inherited is cruel," he said. "It's unjust. It's lawless and unfair. Your generation will be the one to pay for our shortcomings. Our sorrys are too little, too late.“

In a world where
'The Collapse seemed to bring out the worst in everyone. Self-preservation became the only goal at the forefront of everyone's mind, which ironically, only led to more widespread suffering.'

One woman is trying her best to follow an old advice
"Be better than what we've become. Bring compassion and heart back to this violent world."

in a post-apocalyptic society where
"No one has rights anymore. Not to their body, their skills, nothing. If you want to be treated like a person, you have to fight for that. If you don't want to be forced into something, you gotta be stronger than the ones forcing you. Do you understand? Most of the time, it's easier just to go along without a fight. If you value your life, that's what I suggest you do."

One female medic is trying to stay true to her oath
"With no laws or rights to protect us, our bodies are the last thing we have control over. To treat someone when they've said no is violating that final piece of personal control, even if it's to their benefit."

even at the cost of her own life.

Mariposa's worst fear comes true when she is captured by the Steel Demons MC, the most ruthless biker gang in the Southwest. These men thrive on the violence and chaos brought on by the Collapse, and they’re eager to unleash it all on her.

It doesn't help that their President - Reaper - "was the living embodiment of the Collapse itself. Cruelty, violence, and chaos wrapped in a sinfully beautiful package."

Because Mariposa finds herself strangely attracted to the deadly biker. Despite all the warnings she's being given - even by Reaper himself.

"Sugar, you haven't seen how bad we can be. We're the stuff nightmares are made of."

Fast-paced, action packed and with solid characters, this one here made for a downright addictive read.
And I jumped straight into the sequel.

P.S. I absolutely love Hades!!!

So very good.

Definitely ready to read the next book. Too bad I have to wait a few days to read it.

Mari was a nurse before civilization collapsed. Then women lost their rights. She ends up as a medic for a notorious MC, and these guys are hot!

Reaper, the president, brings her in, albeit unwillingly. Jandro, the VP, is latino like she is and is a total sweetheart. So is Gunner, but both are deadly...and so very distractingly sexy. And Shadow is a big scarred mystery who seems scared of women?

I liked the FMC a lot. The guys are delicious. The plot was interesting, if kinda overdone for MC type books.

So it’s a little rough around the edges but I am so vibing with this dystopian world.

I really love the “I gotta do what I gotta do”- mentality. It makes the whole “the world as we know it is gone” feeling so much more trustworthy.
And I loved how it wasn’t a giant fuckfest.
RH can get a little too focused on everyone getting a piece.
The steam grew, some parts slow and some hot & steamy and it’s how I prefer it. The build up to me is part of the charm, and I find it even more important in RH because the author needs to create a chemistry and connection with multiple characters.

So Lawless was very much not the kind of book I usually read? I picked it up on a whim because it was on Kindle Unlimited, and it did a very good job of keeping me distracted these past few days while work has been terrible. The writing was pretty good and easy to follow and I enjoyed the shifts in POVs.

The Reverse Harem aspect wasn't all that developed in this first installment. It seemed like Ash took their time to try and focus on presenting the characters so they could develop the relationship dynamics further on. There were a few kissing scenes and one sex scene, though, and I was okay with how Ash presented the tidbits of romance.

What made me super uncomfortable was the world-building surrounding the Collapse with the way it was super super sexist. And sexual assault and violence against women, in general, being used as a way to hammer down that point also wasn't the best. Not sure if I'll continue with the series? But if you enjoy Reverse Harem romances that are a bit dark and set in a world that's gone to shit you'll probably love this!

The blurb for this describes it as Sons of Anarchy meets Handmaids Tale. I couldn’t picture it but yup, that’s exactly what it is. So this, to me anyway, was a fun, quick read, even though the world it’s set in is pretty horrible especially towards women. It’s a dark world, but the characters are fun. It only took me a couple hours to read and I’m interested enough to see where it goes. Slow burn.

3.5 Fun start!

I was curious about this series, but frankly, I didn't have too much hope. So, it was a really pleasant surprise to find that it was way better than I expected.

The overall plot has a lot of potential and the MC is badass and fun. The guys seem ok as well, I'm just waiting now to see how it goes.

An easy and addicting story that gets better with each book!

The story is about Mariposa, who lives in the 22nd century, during a time where there's unrest all over the world. I'm not exactly sure if this 'unrest' exists all over the world or just in the United States, where the story is set, but basically, mankind has gone "backwards". Extremists have broken down societal norms, currency has zero value, laws do not exist, media and technology has been wiped out and women's rights have basically "disappeared". There's no "exact reason" as to why things happened the way it did.. probably humans were just done with their everyday lives and decided to live in ways that they thought were better. But it's mentioned that the US President left the country to save his own skin and members of the parliament are murdered eventually in an event that's widely known as "Collapse".

During the start of the story, the female lead, Mariposa, has just graduated from her nursing school which coincides with the Collapse and it's announced that women are not allowed to work in the medical field, thereby preventing her from getting her registration. The story then jumps to 3 years later where Mariposa is now going under the term "Medic" and has dedicated her life towards saving people in need, especially with the ongoing wars happening between people who have taken up different territories of the United States and have built armies and separate sanctuaries headed by "Generals", who vary from being reasonable to hungry for more power. Her goal is to travel to Canada where life is better for women and during her journey, ends up in a motel where she decides to give her services and stay as a help in exchange for room and board.

Coincidentally, she comes across the widely known and notorious Steel Demons MC, headed by their President, Reaper and members, Jandro (their VP and mechanic), Gunner (their arms dealer) and Shadow (their silent wall of muscle/ bodyguard). Much to her despair, she gets 'taken' by the MC after a misunderstanding. She's taken to occupy the position of a medic for the SDMC. She later finds out that the MC although feared, has their own set of rules which they follow religiously. Mariposa then finds herself navigating as the MC's medic and understanding that maybe..the SDMC is where she was always meant to be.

I first noticed this story after it was ranked as the number one best RH series in a Facebook group with the Hannaford Prep series by J. Bree a close second. So, I had to know what the hype was. I wouldn't say this series is better than Hannaford because it's almost like comparing apples and oranges. But I will tell you this, you will not regret starting this series. It's just too good.

I don’t know what to think.
Pros:
- I didn’t find any typos
- Some of the characters are interesting and make you want to know more (for example Shadow)
Cons
- The storyline is supposed to take place around 2100, the Collapse was like 8 years ago tops, so we cab deduce that at least society was relatively normal until 2080, yet there isn’t a single thing in the book that wasn’t invented in 2019. Not even one. I mean work for it girl, no medical advances? Or new means of transportation? Or new type of guns? Or even TV Shows or movies? COME ON
- Most of the characters are absolutely flat and honestly inconsistent. Mariposa (really? I’m from Spain and I haven’t heard that name in my life) is so worried about Gretchen and offers to let her come with her when she lives, yet she doesn’t ask once to go get her when she “leaves” (at the begginning I get it, she was kidnapped, but after that she was there willingly and she could have asked)
- Lastly, I’m a medic myself and while I love to help people, I have other characteristics. We get it okay? You are a medic and you want to help people, let’s move on. Seriously her character is so flat, that is the only thing we get about her.
- Also, give me a break ok? Most of the guys act as if not raping girls makes them deserve a medal. Newsflash, if you want credit for that you are a psycho. I hate Big G or whatever his name, he has a pregnant wife and goes around fucking everything he finds, that is love. And the others feel bad for him when they realize they may not find many women after killing tom and losing that place. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. Those guys are all losers and if they were all I had left in the world I’d become a fucking nun.

Mariposa is a strong independent women trying to survive and help people in a post-apocalyptic America.
When the Steel Demons take her, she's pissed and rightly so but she'll slowly come to realize that Reaper, Jandro, Gunner and even Shadow are much more than they seem.

Very intrigued so far...no reverse harem yet but you can feel it brewing.

“Sugar, you haven't seen how bad we can be. We're the stuff nightmares are made of." He leaned in close to me. "The Collapse took all your rights away, but for men like me? We thrive in this world. A lawless land means I make the laws. And I'll dispense justice in any way I see fit."

When America goes to shit and strips women of all rights and becomes one big lawless hell? Welcome to dystopia.

Mariposa was minutes away from becoming a licensed nurse when it became forbidden for women to receive any type of license.
Fast forward a few years, children are being indoctrinated into girl schools to teach them how to be complacent little girls and perfect little wives.
Prostitution is on the rise. Women have children to feed. Money is no longer a necessity. Bartering for medication and food and shelter is your survival in this world.
Mariposa? She’s got skills that people need. That people want. When the notorious Steel Demons MC rolls into town that she’s temporarily staying at, she ends up getting literally carried away and tied to the back of a bike.
This series eventually leads up to a reverse harem romance but book one is really an introduction to the characters and this world. It’s amazing and kept me engaged till the very end. I’ll be continuing this series immediately!
It’s bloody, action packed, full of hot men, and twisted.

MCC reverse harem romance set in a dystopian America that's hitting a bit too close to home in this, our year of 2020. A little Handmaid's Tale, a little supernatural...something, and too much very current events, I found this one really hard to love, because I want to toss all of the men in the trash.

Are we...supposed to actually like any of them and want to put ourselves in the heroine's place? Because any MMC whose inner dialogue involves so much fatphobic, ageist, misogynist objectivist criticism of women's bodies is never going to be a dream boat. They all left me really cold, even when the writing should have been heating me up. This is the "good" guy in this world? HARD PASS.

Seriously, Mariposa: run and save yourself and all the women you can. Become a mother to the Revolution.

That being said, this does feel like a fairly believable dystopian world, lead and run by violent white men who were chomping at the bit to reduce women to breeding chattel and start playing war lord—though, I think it could have reached more and been a more unique take on the fall of America, current events are providing plenty of fodder for that. I wish there were more world building—there's no description of what this "collapse" event that keeps getting referenced is: was it US only? Global? What??—and maybe it will be explained more in future installments, but it was difficult to stay in the story when I kept wondering what the hell had happened and why nothing about the northern US was mentioned, yet rumor had it Canada was safe.

One thing I really disliked in this story was the stereotype that all of the rottenness—slaving, wife training camps, etc—was centered in the southern US, as if the ugliness responsible for all of these crimes against humanity is geographically located, rather than a demographic that lives everywhere.

I think the first book was enough, and this series isn't for me.

THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. It is set in a pretty misogynistic world where woman are pretty much expected to be seen and not heard. There are trigger warnings so please check! It’s not going to be everyone’s cuppa tea.

Hell yeah!! This book is just so good 🙌🏼 when I say it has you gripped from the start I’m not kidding 😂 I haven’t read a story with a post apocalyptic world (I don’t think) & I actually haven’t read that many MC books either, so then throw in the reverse harem and I’m all for it 😂 I was instantly intrigued and was so thoroughly into it I swear this book only lasted 5 minutes and it was over!! I just need more and to think this is just the beginning?!

I’m already infatuated with all of the characters!! HADES is my no.1 boy for sure 😉and Reapers love for him has me SO in love with him 🙌🏼😅 like seriously, lord give mercy to my ovaries 🤣🤣

“No offence, Mari, but when it comes down to you or my dog, I’m picking my fucking dog every day of the week.”

There is another quote from Reaper about Hades but I can’t say it without giving spoilers so my lips are sealed!!

All the guys bring something different, I am most intrigued about Shadow. I need more of him 🙌🏼 think it’s going to hurt my heart finding out what’s made him how he is. I’m routing for the big guy ❤️

I LOVE that we get multiple POV from them all!! This was amazing for me because I loved getting to know them all individually as such.

I adore Mari so much!! Bless her, she hasn’t had it easy!! And I admire her for sticking to being a nur…. Medic!! 😉 and once again, don’t get me started on Mari and Hades growing bond 🥺🙌🏼 Mari is stuck is such a misogynistic world but she holds her own and abides by her own rules and moral code.

I’m obsessed and it’s only book one!!!! I have a day off and decided everything else can wait till later! Im off to read the second book 😁

This is one of those books you wish the author would have written better. So much potential that went south.

The main plot: no rights for women, a broken society and bikers. What can go wrong? Well, in this book everything.

I know I am being harsh but I really felt that I wasted three hours of my life reading this.

I have got to tell you about this little book I read called Lawless. The synopsis drew me in, who doesn't love a good dystopian rh romance right? Yeah it's what I thought too, so right off the bat the story takes off.

The story follows Mariposa, she is alone in this new world. One where women are used for sex, breeding and whatever else men want. She had just gotten her nursing degree, when women were banned from having any degrees or use of them. So she travels and trades her craft for food, and shelter. When she just so happens to stop at a bar, she trades her services for a couple weeks of stay and food. There she is introduced to the Steel Demons MC. She has heard of their brutality, and tries to steer clear of them. But what happens when she catches the eye of the president, vice president and their muscle?

This was just so good guys. From chapter one I was hooked. The plot was good, the pace is fast, and the characters are hot and alpha. There are a few triggers so if you're looking for those, there are some here. Mariposa is a fiery lead, who does what she can to survive and has a mouth on her. I could see us being besties. The guys are alpha, hard and I fell for them pretty quickly. So overall, this is a great first look into this series, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!!
