You might think that a book with pictures is oversimplified and only for beginners - but it does not apply here. Illustrations do a good job in showing what is hard to explain with words, are consistent in style and fun to watch. The book is short but gives much information, also some in-depth insights and non-obvious suggestions. Looks great on a bookshelf and I think I will return to it from time to time.
One irritating thing: some typos, and lots of mistakes in dates. You read someone lived between 1830 and 1885, 2 paragraphs below you read he 'returned to New York in 1921'! There are like 10 or 20 cases like this. Maybe someone from the publisher side overused whisky, because they even botched publisher credits on the last page ("Le Cafe" from 2016 is for sure not the original publication!).
As the name implies, the book is heavy on Scotch. The book does a great job of answering a plethora of questions that those new to whiskey need to know, but might be too afraid to ask more experienced drinkers.
Very accessible. Explains things pretty well and while a lot of topics are covered, if you want to do more research on your own he gives you a really good base of knowledge to build off of.
