Incubus #2

Possession

Rate this book
A psychotic episode was the only sensible explanation for his clouded memories, battered body and a lost week of time. Demons aren’t real. They don’t run adult shops or hunt students for their lust. Just because Finn’s housemate had pink hair, it didn’t make her a fae in league with the devil, or a one in a trillion, ‘chosen one’.
But it had felt so damn good to be important and desired, even if it was all in Finn’s head.
Returning to the swirling, beautifully passionate madness, or checking into a psychiatric facility are his options. Whichever way he steps, life as he knows it, is over.
Stranded between two untenable options, with the sun and the temperature going down, a smiling stranger provides a temporary respite from his dilemma.

Unfortunately for Finn, demons and fae are not the only beings stalking the night for the troubled and unwary.

Emma is the #1 Amazon Bestselling Author of m/m series such as Paint, Incubus, and Lies.

Known as the Queen of MM angst her books include Sci-fi, paranormal, and contemporary romance and always puts her characters through hell before giving them a HEA. She blames her rebellious muse (who looks like Chris from the Paint Series) for the erotic aspects tickling the angst, and the humor cuddling up with the erotic.

When not writing or reading she herds Birman cats and sons; Both groups argue that the other is too large.

“Keep your hands to yourself, demon. You’re not snacking on me.”
A deep laugh bubbled up from the demon’s chest as he stepped back. “I just did, pup. Not as much as I wanted, but enough to know you taste as good as you look.” He leaned in, lowering his voice. “A little wild, a little earthy. I bet I’ll be able to taste you on Finn.”

I think this book and the previous one could have been compressed into one. So far I’m loving all the new characters and the things we’re discovering of the ones we already knew. A fair warning, this is not the case where the MC is “bad” because he didn’t wash the dishes after dinner. I’m not kidding, if you don’t like reading about characters without morality, I don’t think you’d like this series at all. And not because it’s super dark or bloodthirsty but just for the lack of “old-fashioned human morals”, as Ezra would call it, of a particular incubus.

description

This book takes place a week after Seduction with a very confused Finn trying to figure out what’s going on. And here it’s when Milo appears. I loved how he became Ezra’s voice of reason and created some balance in the couple’s dynamic. Though, calling Finn and Ezra a couple it's a bit of a stretch for now. I can’t wait to read more about them together and to know how they’d sort out all their differences. It’s a short book, so there’s not much depth yet but I'm hoping for that to change in the next installments.

A canine shifter added to the equation. After the way it ended, I’m ready to dive into the next book!

This series just really sucks you in and leaves you wanting to know what is going to happen next. This is an erotic read but has a storyline behind it that will leave you wondering what is next.

Poor Finn, I really feel bad for this guy. It is like life just keeps throwing punches at him and it is a wonder that he has not been knocked out by it yet. If things keep going the way they are he just might be. First he has a boyfriend that was not honest with him and rhen he gets hooked up with an incubus that only wants him because he is basically a vessel for him.

I really want to like Ezra but I am still on the fence about him. On one hand I want to believe that he truly cares about Finn but on the other I keep wondering if everything he does and says to Finn is for his own selfish desire. Then their is the new player Milo in the mix that is a wolf shifter who I believe in his own way does care about Finn but then again I am not truly sure about that either.

Like I said Finn keeps taking all the punches that life has thrown at him but I am not sure how much more he can take. And I have a feeling all hell is going to break lose in the next book. Especially if the way this one ended is any indication of how the next one is going to go,

I can't wait to see what Emma Jaye has up her sleeve for the next book.

The characters continue to develop in this revealing second installment

Finn wakes up after a night with his new lover, a sex demon called Ezra. After leaving Ezra’s apartment above a sex shop, he stops in at a newsagent to pick up a sports drink where he spies the date on a newspaper, he had not spent the night, he had spent over a week! Confused and not wishing to head home where he lives with his housemate Pixie who introduced him to Ezra, he heads to the beach. Once there, he meets a friendly stranger, Milo, who seems to care for him, yet leads him right back into the hands of the demon.

In this second installment of the Incubus series, we learn more about what Finn really means to Ezra. A vascellum who can store the sexual passion of those he interacts with and feed it to the demon when they make love. What Ezra is unaware of, is how exactly Finn will affect him when they make that bond. Here is where the two main characters start to take off and we learn much more about them.

Additionally, Pixie’s connection to Milo is revealed. We find out exactly who and what Milo is, and how his natural instincts to protect Finn is going to affect Finn’s relationship with Ezra, possibly forever.

Once again the developing characters, their relationships and the slowly emerging story makes this book worth the 5 stars. Of course the m/m sex is there, but the true love-making between the two main characters is what really moves you.

Book 3 here we come (pun fully intended!)

Who’s possessing who?

We pick up right where we left off in Incubus Seduction. Finn is trying to figure what’s going on and Ezra isn’t helping as he’s being his normal selfish self. I wish Ezra would stop glamouring/compelling Finn so much. One would think Ezra would take more care with someone so special to him. That being said, Ezra and Finn together are so hot. They have an amazing connection and chemistry. I hope it grows into more as the series progresses.

I really want Pixie’s story and how she ended up with Ezra. Also I would like Milo’s story. He seems like he has a storied history. Plus I like his attitude. I was not expecting the ending and it will be interesting what happens next. I have a feeling it’s going to get worse for Finn before it gets better. Great suspense and world-building by Emma Jaye.

Wow! I did not see that coming. Emma Jaye's strength is her ability to write such emotionally vivid stories and elicit such strong reactions from readers. I was on the edge of my seat the entire novella and didn't know what to think. I couldn't put it down at all.

There was much deeper character development in this one. Not just with the primary characters but secondary as well. In addition, the world building was much more detailed making it easier to connect with the entire novella.

The storyline itself shined. I went everywhere from angry to aghast to just completely throwing up my hands and recognizing I'm addicted to the series now. I need to know what happens next, I am completely captivated.

5 stars for an addictive and shocking novella!

Continues right were we left off in book one, Incubus Seduction.

"Finn Barrett is mine, whether he realizes it or not. The fact that he's playing hard to get makes life a little more interesting, don't you think?"

How selfish is Ezra? And with the bond, does he get feelings for Finn? He's a soulless demon...will the bond change him, somehow? Oh, I need to read more!!

"Let go of those old-fashioned human morals. You're not one of the sheep anymore. You're different from them, better than them."

My heart is breaking with that ending!

Another great m/m erotica! Book two of this series does not disappoint, the only disappointing thing is work got in the way of reading! I have so many questions I need answered! These characters are so good at lying it’s hard to distinguish what’s what and it’s leaving me on the edge of my seat! On to book three!!

Another m/m winner from Emma Jaye

This is the second book in the series and it not only lived up to the first but as the story expands so does my love for the characters and their interactions with each other.

Finn is in love with Ezra, but does he deserve his love? Pixie and shifter Milo are looking out for Finn but does he need their help?

Does Ezra love Finn or is he using his demon powers to force his will onto him? I can’t wait to find out what happens next in the series. What will Milo’s alpha decide and will Finn be safe ever again?

The more I get into this series the more I wanna read it. Characters are so realistic, I love how Ezra keeps being exactly what it is without turning cheese for the sake of romance and Finn's constant internal struggle is so real, both this elements make this book so down to Earth and leave the finale open for the readers to speculate on.
Loving it. Straight to the next -> Incubus Pain

Finn's adventure continues with Ezra in this second book of the series. Finn's still reeling from his experience with Ezra, and what a steamy time he had, if only he could recall everything. This installment was hot and full of angst, and I am really loving this series. Wishing it was all in one book, but I am ready for more!

Holly shit! What was happening here was just crazy! Demons, shifters, fae and poor Finn stuck in the middle of all those hot bodies around. Emma Jaye sweeps me off my feet time after time leaving me sitting on my ass guessing what will happen next?
This series is totally not to miss. Very fresh in MM genre if you love complicated relationship and not a simple vanilla romance, cuz this is as far from vanilla as you can imagine.
Looking forward to read the next book.
Thank you Emma Jaye for providing me with ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the first book in the series, but I wasn’t prepare for the rollercoaster of emotions this one was going to be. I liked this second book even more than the first one. It has being so exciting getting to know all this characters and to understand this odd paranormal world. Everything has being so interesting, so different also. It hada very high heat level, not always my main focus on a book but this times its being appreciate it because it is importnt for the plot. What I liked the most about the book is how it has made me love a character in a moment and hate him in the next. All this emotions are just so insane. It’s being such a great read and I just can’t stop. I’m already reading the next in the series. Great book.

Incubus over load

Wow! Love Demon shifter books, especially incubus fantasy. I’ll slowly, (rapidly), binge this series over the weekend.
I’m super curious as to this world building. I’m sorta secretly routing for Milo.
Writing is good, only noticed 2 grammar errors, but not enough to take away from the story or plot which is amazing and addictive! Going in for the third installment now

In this book we are introduced to Milo a canine shifter and we learn a bit more about the world and how magic works in it. I absolutely adored Milo, he’s such an interesting character and I can’t wait to learn more about him and see him interact with Finn and Ezra again. I love Pixie too, she’s really fun. The relationship between Finn and Ezra is fascinating. Finn tries to fight his true nature but Ezra is there to entice him. This series is addicting!

The continuing tale of a demon and his strength

First let me state that this is the second book of the series and cannot be considered a standalone. At least to me. I think reading the first book is necessary to enjoying this one to its fullest. Now I find myself with mixed emotions about this book. But all of those are towards the way the story is playing out and not towards the author or the storyline in any way. In addition to the characters we meet in the first book, Milo, a shifter detective/bodyguard/muscle, joins the crew and begins to play a big part in Finn’s life. Ezra, the incubus sex demon, has recruited Finn to join his crew and while I was enamored with him in the first book, I find myself finding him quite distasteful in this. My final thoughts on this book/series is this: it is addictive, draws you in, and makes it very difficult to put down. I am on the the third in the series as I cannot leave the story left unfinished. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.

I have no patience for Finn, or the supernaturals in this book

WTF was up with Finn in this book?! Yes, Ezra was a bit heavy with the glamour, but Finn wasn’t unaware of his circumstances, and his apparent lack of learning from the experience that had already happened was irritating. Finn knows that he wants to help Ezra, and he knows that he can ask for a glamour to ease the whole process, but somehow he doesn’t trust Ezra in this one facet of their relationship?

And how stupid is this Council that purports to protect humans, and apparently, keeping the supernatural secret from them, and yet, they vilify the best tool in that arsenal. Since they are so ‘against’ the selective use of glamour to keep their secret, do they simply kill any human who finds out about them? For their own good? Or will the human simply be imprisoned until they die to prevent the secret from spreading?

This is the second installment of the Incubus series by Emma Jaye. The series focuses on the Incubus Erza and his own personal sex battery Finn. Finna is a very nieve college student who gets taken advantage off before he meets Erza. Erza has had his fair share of bad luck in the world of supernatural and he sees Finn as his ticket to the top, but neither of these two expects to fall in a relationship.

Finn, although he is compelled by Erza to begin with truly, has feelings for him, as Erza for him. However, others do not understand either of them. Enters Milo, our own personal Fido who is sent to track and monitor Finn to make sure everything is okay. He is a beta in his pack so he sees Finn as an Omega or someone weaker than everyone that must be cared for.

Milos needs to protect Finn, in the end, is what cause both Finn and Erza to be on a new path to what may cause both of their destruction. I personally can not wait for the next installment!

"In questo secondo volume il sesso ha un’esplosione, però anche se è particolarmente presente, stranamente non è descritto in maniera approfondita, anzi, secondo me, un po’ come tutto il resto, manca di “intensità”, soprattutto  visto il tipo di sesso praticato"
