The annual River Run is a fall favorite in Stoneybrook. Participants end the race with a commemorative mug from local potter, Josie Cobb. But when one of the mugs is shattered over Josie's ex-husband's head and he's found dead along the riverside trail, the sheriff is sure the potter finally snapped. To make things worse, the dead man had flowers and an engagement ring with him, only months after the ink dried on his divorce to Josie. Hadley cannot believe the generous local artist would do such a thing. Before the authorities make a huge mistake, Hadley has to prove Josie's innocence. This trail of clues is about to lead Hadley to uncover a big secret in her small town.

She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?
Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. 5 Star review A Glazed Finish (Stoneybrook Mystery #6) by Eryn Scott
Audio Review:
A Glazed Finish is a great example of a cozy mystery and one that I found thoroughly entertaining; I loved this book from start to finish and was riveted as I followed the clues trying to guess the murderer before Hadley and her brother and friends.
Narrator Jennifer Jill Araya as really brought these books to life for me and did a fabulous job keeping me entertained. This was a a book filled with a lot of secrets and the intrigue and suspense kept me riveted as I listened to this story. I was given this free review copy of this audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a fun read, that feels weird saying since it's about a murder but Stoneybrook is so awesome.
I love how the town expands with each book, but at the same time feels more tight-nit. This book has Hadley & the gang facing their toughest mystery yet, and without the support of the full police force. The complexities of the case leave Paul turning to his family and friends more than he'd like and the ending had my heart racing.
Each book featuring a cat rescue is the most adorable thing I didn't know my cozies needed. I'm always excited to see how Hadley is going to find a home for the cat in each book, and this one had a bonus surprise that really warms the heart.
This is such a well laid out mystery. I was on edge for the majority of it because all the potential culprits were too hard to believe. Either someone had been a huge liar about their character or the culprit was super obvious and all of that played out into a bittersweet outcome.
Can wait to see how Hadley handles the next case, after this one had her riding in the danger zone for the second time in this series but much much closer than anyone would have liked.
Another great one in this series, set in the Northern Cascades. The mystery has so many suspects I was guessing until the end. It’s guy vs gal sleuth teams to find the clues, with Paul and Luke pairing up and Hadley and Suz. They eventually join forces and solve the murder, but not without Hadley having to use her pepper spray! And there’s more cats!!
Possible the best Stoneybrook mystery yet. When the newly-divorced town stockbroker shows up dead on a 5k run, Hadley, Paul, and company must buckle down for a case that has as many turns as the riverfront trail.
I really liked that the mystery wasn't so much running around and asking questions as it was serious, plodding police work. While it's always fun to see Hadley and the gang bumble about the chase, it was even more satisfying for me to see them have to grind a little more this time. It felt more realistic than some of the previous mysteries (though I love them all), and was still just as fun. Plus, it is the first mystery of Scott's that actually had me guessing until the very end!
This series continues to get better with every book!
I love reading cozy mysteries especially when the author tells the story so well that you feel like one of the townies. That is exactly how I feel about this cozy mystery series. This story is the fifth book of the series and just as entertaining as the first four books. I am now binge reading the series. Eryn Scott is definitely one of my favorite authors now.
If you enjoy new recipes to add to your collection, the following recipes are included in this book: 1) Gingery Rhubarb Jam 2) Quick Pickled Snap Peas Both recipes created by Marisa McClellan, creator of Food in Jars.
I really enjoyed this book. I love the way the girls and boys compete against each other in order to prove there theory is the right one. This is the sixth book in series and I have enjoyed everyone, you don't need to be like me and have listened to them all to enjoy this one but it is such a fun light heart mystery series with romance, cas and good friendship that I recommend that you do. The mystery was good and I hadn't worked out who the killer was which is a bounces because it means there are plenty of suspects and twists. I look forward to the next instalment. The residents of Stoneybrook are taking part in the annual river run but things come to a grinding halt when a dead on is found on the course. The man was dressed up, with flowers and a ring in his pocket but having only month's ago signed the divorce papers it is a huge shock because nobody even knew he was dating anyone. The ex wife Joise is the obvious suspect for the deputy especially as the murder weapon the first place pottery mug especially designed was created and made by Joise. but Hadley thinks her brother is making a big mistake because that means there mother's best friend is a killer. In order to prove her innocent Hadley puts down her jam making equipment and starts her own investigation. Hadley starts at the dead man's office only to find that they had had a break in and once again all the evidence points to the ex wife. Hadley needs to prove somebody else had a very good reason to kill him and the opportunity. Can Hadley get to the bottom of it before her brother is forced into arresting Josie? I liked the narrator she has such a distinct voice that she uses very well to bring the characters to life.
Well, I did not see that coming. A Glazed Finish was one of those rare times when I was totally surprised by whodunit. Eryn Scott had her characters, and most definitely me, coming and going in such a way that I didn't see what was right in front of my nose. I couldn't have been more wrong in who I suspected. But, oh, that was such a great part of the fun of listening to sixth A Stoneybrook Mystery audiobook!
I've really been enjoying the A Stoneybrook Mystery series as I am a big fan of clean reads, especially of the cozy mystery variety. It's been so much fun solving mysteries with Hadley and clan. Watching their relationships change and grow, and in the last few books getting to know Hadley's spunky grandmother. So, if who like to figure out whodunit, love cats, and have a sweet tooth for jams and jellies you've got to check out A Glazed Finish, and the rest of the series, from Eryn Scott.
Once again, listening to this audiobook was a real treat! Absolutely no complaints at all! I love the narrator for the role and was glad to hear that she was back for this audiobook. Great listening!
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I may have been in the wrong mood, or it might have been too soon after finishing (and loving, I might add) A Juicy Murder, but I felt that A Glazed Finish didn't really do it for me. It seemed like Eryn Scott was just coasting with this one. Yes, the backdrop of the scenic Cascade Mountains and river is awesome, and the townsfolk are still quirky, and always ready to pass along some juicy bit of gossip. There's plenty more kittens to save and a murder to solve. I kinda' felt like nodding off, except that Hadley actually got caught up in some danger, and the story started to suck me in Jennifer Jill Araya's voice performance is perfect. She's never failed to enthrall me in the tempo, rise and fall, and timbre of her narration! Of course, you know you'll need to listen all the way to the end to get the recipes for Maple/Bourbon Apple-butter and the Pumpkin-butter too, both of which sound delicious!
A great book. This had a good story and a murder that had too many suspects. I really liked the book and am ready to read the next one in the series.

I'm really enjoying this series; this time, the gang can't even enjoy a 5K run without running into trouble! The mystery is well-developed and ends in a completely different direction from where it begin, and the "who" and "why" are a surprise; then again, there's plenty of wrongdoing to muddy the trail, and the climactic confrontation adds a nicely plotted "full circle" moment. The main characters are charming, with nicely evolving relationships, and this reader appreciates an author who even takes time to give peripheral characters some personality (wonder what Gran's next quirk will be); there's even a bit of light humor. "A Bitter Shot" is next on my TBR list!
As always, this was a cozy murder mystery. I like this series though so even though I feel the books are similar, I always am reading the next. I am a huge cat fan so I enjoy the feline love that takes place in all these books. As usual, the book is a quick, few hour read for me and I enjoy that I know there will be a murder mystery, can I figure out before the last chapter. This is currently the last book in the series and I am looking forward to the next one being released to see where this character family goes from here.
I love Eryn Scott’s A Stoneybrook Mystery series! The characters are very likable and the cozy mystery kept me guessing until the very end. Hadley James sells jam and her twin brother Paul is the Deputy Sheriff. Paul is dating Hadley’s best friend Suze and Hadley is dating their longtime friend Luke. The four friends work on finding clues when a local turns up dead during a running race. A friend of Hadley’s is a suspect. This is such an enjoyable cozy mystery series! #AStoneybrookMysteryCollection #ErynScott #KristophersonPress
I like the series and would read the following books. This one had an interesting story and I couldn’t find the culprit before everything was revealed. I did figure the cat part out and thought it was obvious that Abby missed Tianna the moment she said it was her uncle’s cat. Nice that Paul stood up to his boss and told him no, when asked to do something that facts and evidence was not pointing at. Hope to see more of that.

Hadley along with her friends and the rest of the town were partaking in the annual marathon race. Just some exercise and fun. That’s it! She didn’t expect to find a dead body on the trail. What’s even more chilling was that this wasn’t an accident—someone had hit over the head with the commemorative runner’s mug. Could this have something to do with the affair and the divorce?
The read was okay. Mystery was decent with some lags.
The annual race is set to run, Hadley, Luke and Simone are running along with Kristin, who us new to town. Before they cross the finish line they find Steve, a local financial advisor and cheating ex-husband of local potter, Josie, dead in the trail. Who could have killed him and why? I never saw the end coming, another goid read.
A Glazed Finish by Eryn Scott is a cute cozy mystery with just enough twists, red herrings and a few viable suspects to keep me guessing until the dramatic conclusion. I have really enjoyed visiting Stoneybrook and getting to know Hadley, Suzette, Paul and Luke as well the other residents of this small town. Ms. Scott has developed the characters well as the series has progressed.
I'm not sure how I missed writing a review on this one. I read it awhile ago, so it's hard to remember the finer details. I remember that from the title I thought it was going to be about doughnuts. (The glaze was pottery based, not sugar based.) I also remember I didn't figure out who dunnit until shortly before the main character solved it.
I'm torn between 4 and 4.5 stars. I enjoyed visiting my Stoneybrook friends and the mystery was good. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars like I usually do for this series is that the resolution of the mystery felt a little abrupt. All in all though, another fun read!
Good plot, the divorce papers, ink has quite dried, she is potter, and one of her mugs did the Ex in. Sounds suspicious and Hadley goes to proves Josie is innocence. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion is
Another trip to the charming town of Stoneybrooke with all its wonderful residents. A good mystery with plenty of suspects. Another cat and her kittens are introduced and they have an interesting background and future. A pleasant easy read.
Although the stories are readable and likeable, I personally find it all a little too twee. I hated the ending of "everything was going to be fine" I loathe the syrupy interactions she has with Luke. A good escape never the less.
Another amazing entry in the Stoneybrook series. Another small town murder and once again, the gang is on top of the situation. The murderer figures out that Hadley has figured out he was guilty and tries to stop her, but he fails. Looking forward to the next adventure!
It was great to get back into the Stoney Brook mystery series. I love these characters and it's such a simple, pleasant read. Exactly what I love in a cozy!
Another wonderful cozy mystery from Eryn Scott! This had me stumped almost to the end, I didn't see that one coming. I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! I totally recommend this book.
Very good book.I like these cozy store mysteries.Jennifer Jill Araya was a terrific narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'
