In this raw, emotional, and beautiful debut, Tierra Cox brings readers a quaint bwam, contemporary romance about love and fame, and how at the base of it all, we're simply humans looking for a special connection with another soul.
KyuBeom Yoon is known as the ice prince of the renowned K-pop group, C4. All he wanted was to get away from it all—the lights, the cameras, and the fame that comes with being an idol. And all he wants is Maya Campoy. With Maya, he gets the chance to feel normal, to be loved, to be happy...
Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned. Years later, he finds himself on a radio show reliving a tale of love and heartbreak, wondering if, at the end of it all, she’ll give him another chance.
I’ve always been a writer. My Pop-Pop was always my biggest fan and encouraged my love of reading. From my first stories about talking wolves to my first published novels with witches and lost love. Crafting an enchanting and riveting tale is nothing new to me.
As a black woman, I strive to put us on the forefront of romance novels. To put us in fantastical and daring situations that carve heroines everyone loves to read about.
Other than being a writer, I fancy myself quite the poet.
When I’m not doing anything that has to do with writing; I enjoy watching my favorite YouTubers, playing video games and sleeping.
The reunion felt like you got tired at the end and gave up. The writing felt rushed at time. It was like I blinked and it was over. The storyline was really good and the fact that it was a more reflective story was good. But that end need some major work for real. Now the mother in this story if that was going to be her agreement there should habe been more details. Especially when it come to the relationship between Korean in America and African-American. The author brought up the LA Root but did explain what that had to do with Korean. Really would habe been good if Latasha Harkins was mentioned. I think he would have understood better if her story was told. Latasha was killed over a bottle of Orange Juice by a Korean woman. It also would have been a good chance to introduce the fact that Korean star love to use black face on tv show
Rare to get a book written by a women but from the perspective of the male character. It was good, sweet, didn’t make the guy too perfect. Really enjoyed it.
I stayed up all night reading author Tierra Cox’s first book. It’s like grits – smooth, warm, and satisfying. K-pop star KyuBeom’s stop in a US diner introduces him to the beautiful Maya with her thick curls and full lips. He’s a loner by reputation, but Maya’s high cheekbones and gorgeous smile make him a repeat customer until he finally asks her out. They’re very different - he’s Korean, famous and 30. She’s black, a college student, and has never heard of K-pop. This sweet international love story appreciates their differences, and just makes you feel good.
The story was well written and played like a KDrama. The parents of the couple were a surprise because the Korean family was accepting of the relationship while Maya’s mother was controlling, messy and prejudice. I would have liked more from the ending

I really enjoyed this. It was interesting in reading about a romance knowing that, for whatever reason, it didn't work For a novella, I felt like I got a full story and am eager to read more from this author in the future.
Genius! Unlike any other romance novel I've read in the past. I love how the story of KyuBeom's love affair is told, through a series of radio interviews. like modern love letters. I can't wait to finish reading it, and see if he gets back with Maya. Haha, definitely go buy and read this one!

A Beautiful story that has its ups and downs. I like the emotion that use to showcase each character and how it’s relatable. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone to read.
Make a series on a k pop band and the black or even biracial women they love. The book I've just read was superb reading from beginning to end. Looking forward to reading more of your novels 😊
This story will have you crying. Also I've found my new favorite writer. She is blessed. This is a masterpiece. At the same time, I want to kick Maya and yell at her mom.
This book had a good story. A play on racism that people don't think about. Controlled family dynamics. The ending left a few questions. All in all, a good read.
Tierra Cox has done it again. This book has been in my TBR for a little while and I finally got a chance to read it and the book was over before I could fully process it. I loved this story. The book finished me before I finished it. I felt all the things. Kyu’s pov was primary which I really liked. I wanted Maya to realize that her mother was holding her back. I got misty eyed for Kyu & Maya’s relationship. I wanted Kyu to kick June’s butt. I wanted to see the house that Kyu bought for them. I wanted to see the minis. I wanted it all! Even with wanting all of this and more this story was so satisfying. I was on the edge of my seating thinking “Omg there is only 10 pgs left, there’s no time! Nooo!”🫣 I related to this story. I know how it feels having friends try to push you in one direction because it’s for the “culture” or “black love”. I love black love but I’m not going to force myself with someone just because he’s black. And I feel like Maya had to learn that on her own even though she told her mom that, she was still pressured into giving up the person she loved. But in the same breath she didn’t allow Kyu to convince her to finish school aboard just for them to stay together. I think not reading how Maya grows for this experience was interesting. Most stories follow the fmc and we know everything except the mmc. I like this change. They both grew from this. I loved it and will be thinking about this book for a while.
This book was short and so SO sweet. I loved both characters. I liked how authentic KyuBeom's speaking was written. I could tell that his English was written as if he was speaking Korean (because ya' know, that's his first language). Maya was such a relatable character! Also - does anybody know where I can get a physical copy of this book? My book dragon tendencies are demanding I house it on my shelf.

I did want to see more of her relationship with her roommates, but the tidbits served their purpose. I applaud Cox for approaching racism in Korea and the U.S., I think she did so elegantly. I saw a few comments saying the ending was a little rushed and didn't satisfy, but I disagree. Not only did my heart swell and my eyes get watery because how sugary sweet it was. But we already saw KyuBeom and Maya's relationship throughout the book. The character's intensions for each other were clearly stated, I'd argue that if Cox added more, it would be overkill. Now, would I have liked to have an epilogue showing their married life a little. . .Yes. . Yes I would. But! What Cox wrote was sufficient.
This definitely goes on my top reads of the year. . . .Oh snap, another one of Tierra Cox's books is on that list. I see you Ms. Cox, I see you!
This could have easily been a 5 star book for me. I loved the character development and the tackling of real-life issues when it comes to interracial dating. But the ending, completely sucked. I felt like it was a cliffhanger because we spent all this time learning what happened between to KyuBeom and Maya only for them to meet again and then BAM! That's the end. I think the author could have spent a little more time flushing out what happened in the time that they were apart.
It seems that the majority who reviewed this book hated the ending, thus my hesitation . But once I got to the end I realized it was the perfect ending for this novella. My soul is happy with it and I felt it left the reader with the space to recall all the lovers' wishes for their relationship. A new beginning.
This story had me crying, laughing, and crying some more. I could relate to these characters. I found myself cheering for this couple. Author, you're writing really touched me. Great story.
This woman is quickly becoming my favorite author. I don’t wanna read too many books in a day but I’m about to dove into my third one. So people have a gift for writing, some a gift for stories. She has both and boy am I glad I get to bask in all the literature glory.
I really loved this story. It was beautiful, poignant and heartbreaking. I really felt for both characters and it was refreshing to see the majority of the story from his pov.
I use Alexa to read my books to me sometimes so I just put this on to play while I cleaned and I ended up staying up until I finished. It was so good and it made laugh, cry, get upset. So many emotions! I will definitely read again!
I struggled with the rating for this book. I was enjoying the story until it's abrupt ending. Kyubeom and Maya received a lot of grief from Maya's mother which caused a severe strain in their relationship and subsequent breakup. This was an integral part of the story and to not address it left the story lacking. Maya just appears at the end with no explanation about her actions. An epilogue would serve the story well. Their story seems incomplete.
