This was such a good book! Even though the overall pacing to the story was on the slower side the writing enabled it to flow flawlessly until the end. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for more books in this series!

Nicki was presented as this kick-butt character who was into martial arts and running away from something even though she had no idea why initially. Her character is also into BDSM, which was a first for me considering I'd pegged this book as a UF. I can't say whether it was presented correctly or not because it's not something I'm educated on but it was an interesting concept in her character development and I liked how it wasn't just about her getting some with other characters. Even though I understand her thought process and can agree with her to some degree she came off as whiny and slightly annoying in the second half of the novel and it took away from the story a little for me.

Logan was charming and protective throughout the novel and it was overall sweet the lengths he went to try and keep her safe. Considering his age and supposed "wisdom" I'd like to have seen him give her more time to acclimate to the new world he presented to her and for her to open up to him. I liked him overall but there were some instances where I personally wanted to bash him over the head with a bolder or something.

The ending I was not expecting! I always had a niggling feeling that something was up but I never imagined what actually happened. This author proved herself to be an amazing storyteller. I'm SO glad I took a chance on her and this book! I'm personally invested in reading about Kurtis if/when there's a next book, so fingers crossed!

My Favorite Quotes:

"We are all broken. Everyone deals with the broken pieces of themselves in various ways."

"Love is a b*tch. All it brings is emptiness."

"To get over the past you must first accept the past is over. No matter how many times you analyze it, or regret it, it's over."

Forgotten Storm is the first book in the Storm series and, let me tell you, it certainly kicks up a storm! From beginning to end, this book grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go!

Nikki is a strong female character who has dealt with more than she should have done, which has left her with coping mechanisms she doesn't think anyone will understand. Logan is her mate and a strong character in his own right. He has done what he thought was right for Nikki, even to his own detriment, to ensure her safety. Of course, nothing goes according to plan so both of them have to deal with unforeseen issues.

This is, quite simply, an amazing book. There are some hard-hitting subjects raised here including sexual abuse, assault, BDSM, plus more that I won't go into. There are no slow points in the story and the pacing is perfect for the story. I loved how Nikki was into martial arts 'before' she knew anything so that helped her progression. Logan is a darling and I loved him! He's also an Alpha Male so obviously he needed a whomp upside the head at times and Nikki was the perfect one to do so.

A brilliant start to a series that I can't wait to read more about. Highly recommended.

Toe curlingy hot, take my breath away delicious vampire treat

Phew, after I finished, I had to step away from the book and just breathe. It was that good!
Like going on a mind-blowing adventure, I was glued to it. It had my heart beating faster, shock made my mouth open on occasion and every page or two I burst out laughing.
Nicole is so amazingly sarcastic I want to frame her responses or at least print them on a mug and flaunt it about. When they first met, well the first time she remembers, it is so incredibly hot I doubt I will ever forget it. Logan is yum!
I love paranormal genre, and when it is so well written, every character comes alive and guess what – you believe the world created.
You cry with the terror she had to endure as a child and celebrate the unwilling heroine she grows into. This kickass take no prisoners zero filter between her mouth and brain girl who can sing too. I like the quirkiness – the way she names her gun Annie and her truck Riddick and love the vulnerability she allows herself rarely.
The fight scenes were incredible, and the sex scenes more so (*fans her face). I can hardly wait to read the next one. I hope this turn out into 20 book series because I spy some characters that need their own stories revealed.

3 stars. TW: sexual abuse/assault

*I received a free copy from Book Sirens. I am giving an unbiased review in return.*
It has been a long time since I have read a paranormal romance, and this is definitely wanted I needed. Nicki is a badass that pushes through her pain and forgotten past, sparring in a dojo and working as a singer/bartender at the LeLoo. Almost every night she is visited by a mysterious man named Logan where they do the dirty. Life seems perfect, until Logan shows up at her front door.

There were some slow parts, but for the most part it was jam packed. I really liked Nicki's attitude and personality throughout the book, except for some parts. Granted, she was going through a lot. The ending was somewhat predictable, but I tend to look at the positives. Definitely recommend if you like anything from Laurell K. Hamilton.

So, as usual, I didn't do more than a quick scan of the back cover blurb before reading. One day I should learn to do that so I am not surprised by anything. Right on the Kyanite page for this novel, it says "This title contains graphic sexual content."

Oh boy, does it ever. For now, we are going to put that aside and I will get to talking about it further down. This is your one warning that I will be talking about some of the sex and related scenes later on.

Overall, this is a well-written novel with strong characters and good world-building. Nicole, our heroine, is a hell of a woman. She may be falling apart, but she's still ready to kick-ass and take names. I loved her. I was rooting for her. All the characters in this story were dynamic and strong. I had no problem getting a sense of the vast supporting cast in this novel.

You will not find much to disappoint you in the action-packed fantasy portion of the plotline. It flows beautifully and is well supported by the romantic elements. Speaking of which, I want to address that part next. If honest talk about sex or the BDSM community offends you, skip the next two paragraphs.

One of the things that always annoys me when authors touch on anything to do with BDSM is that they get it wrong. One of the most important things within this community is consent, a close second to that is open communication. I was relieved to see that A.R. did make mention of this fact and is represented in this novel.

As for the sex scenes, well damn. They were high on the steam side and low on the usage of purple prose. It was also nice to see something a little different from what I'm used to seeing when I do venture into erotic romance (as it is not my typical read). So, once again, kudos to A.R. for not keeping it the straightest of vanilla. That was slightly refreshing to read.

While I went into this novel not expecting this amount of sexual content, it was appropriate for the world and society that A.R. created for the paranormal portion of the world. I definitely enjoyed reading this story and I think you might too. She did a great job and I am happy that I got a chance to read this novel.

Let me just tell you right now that this book is hot.

HOT.

Not only can Nicole Giordano kick your ass and look good while she's doing it, she’ll make you beg for more. I love a heroine who doesn't wait around for the man to swoop in and save her. She’s too busy living her life, while running from her tragic past.

As for Logan, well, he’s beautiful, and sexy and those fangs—he can bit me anywhere, anytime, anyhow he wants. But Logan’s haunted by heavy secrets; ones that speak of true horror. His betraying sins damn him to eternity, all just for loving Nicolle.

The beautiful magic in this story drags you in deeper and deeper. The eternal fight of good versus evil doesn’t come in black and white. There are all these dark gray areas that bleed into the real world, causing chaos and pain.

Pain that demands a sacrifice from Nicole.

A sacrifice that forces Logan to face a future without her…

The ending came to quickly for me, making me growl with frustration. I needed more, so much more but now I have to wait for the second book to be allowed back into A.R. Vagnetti’s sexy world.

A.R. Weaves a telling story of a world mixed with ours that sits unknown and unreachable to most of us. It’s vivid and in-depth story weaving that draws you deeper into her world she has created and the characters are well crafted. With just the right mix of erotica and fantasy this book pulled me in and never let go! A must read!

❤💜😰 Extraordinary sequel.

Nicole was in the middle of a Krav-Maga fight.
Her opponent kicked her in the face. Nicole no longer knew how long the fight had lasted...

Nicole awoke from her torpor and sent her opponent to the mat.
Kurtis, the Krav-Maga instructor, was watching her intently.

Nicole had won, finally!...

I absolutely recommend reading the prequel "Forsaken Storm" BEFORE reading this volume 1.

After reading the prequel, I found this volume 1 of the series extraordinarily captivating with a breathtaking plot and a totally stunning main character.

I was personally transported by the story that kept me on the hot coals!

I will read the rest of the series.
BRAVO to the author!🌹

I don't read as much paranormal as I used to, but was intrigued with the premise of this story. Not so much the paranormal stuff, though that was interesting. It had me wondering if the next books in the series will be about the other magical groups.
Anyway, what I really loved was Nicole's story. A woman with a forgotten past and unexplained powers (such as being able to read people's emotions). I adored her perseverance and refusal to give up. She had a way of turning her weakness into strengths.
Also, her and Logan's chemistry is smoking hot! The push and pull of these two were both irritating and compelling.
If you love steamy paranormal romances with Alpha characters, this book is for you!

Well 3 1/2 to 4. I really liked the plot and the story. I have read a great deal of vampire books so to have me reading to see what would happen is rare. I really liked Nicole. She was tough as nails. She went through a great deal and to be so strong showed how tough she was. I really did not like Was Logan. He just wanted things his way or no way. He was never allowing Nicole to have her moment dealing with everything it was do it or I am gone. I wish the author would have let her have some strange because Logan did. I didn’t like that he lied to Nicole about it. I didn’t like that part of the plot at all.

Overall good read the other characters are interesting and I hope the series is good!

Forgotten Storm was such a great read - I am left craving more. Once I picked it up, it was very hard to put down. The main character is an heiress to the the vampire throne - except she doesn’t realize that vampires are real, or that she is one. The cool kind - not the stuffy, old fashioned kind or the sparkly kind. One can imagine the complications that might ensue. Except you’d be wrong. I was delightfully surprised by the directions the author chose to take with the storyline. The main character is a saucy, kickass chick that I *might* have a crush on now. And there are some lovely, steamy scenes- can’t beat that. My advice: Don’t start this unless you have a good chunk of time to devote to you because you won’t want to put it down. Can’t wait for the next book and would definitely read this again!

Brief summary: Nicki Giordiano is on the run from a stepfather who abused her. Protected by a literal "man of her dreams", she's got a small group of friends that help keep her grounded and hidden from a past she can't remember.

There's lots of action in this book, romance and sex too. Nicki likes to think she can take care of herself and physically, she can. But she's just broken enough to need the help of her friends and apparently a good spanking now and again. She is surrounded by men more than willing to give her what she wants or needs. But this is not a reverse harem story, there is only one man for Nicki. It just takes her a while to figure that out.

There's a bit of BDSM and recollections of sexual abuse and assault, so be warned if that's not your jam. The writing is good, the action is well-paced and the story is interesting with enough surprises to keep you guessing until the end. Speaking of which, I liked this first book well enough that I started right in on the second in the series.

After reading the blurb and the authors bio I was prepared for a real badazzz female lead. I was intrigued when I started reading this story but soon I started losing interest. For me Nicole was a lot of things, strong, whiny, immature and catty. I totally get finding out that the people around you were keeping secrets to be a bit of a gut punch. Reacting to it like an overtly emotional 14 y/o girl by running away instead of having an adult conversation and finding out the reasons behind their decisions just made me sigh. With them knowing that they would have to earn your trust back from that point forward.

We are told she’s a blue’s singer but we never really get the visuals that type of scenario would set.

Nicole for the most part thought that Logan was a very sexy dream guardian she thought up. Him showing up out of the blue after a 2 year hiatus in her dreams would definitely be cause to take a hard look at him and his motives.

Once she finds out that Logan is real and he lets her know what his role in her life is things get a bit steamy. We have way too many coitus interuptus moments, so whenever things got a bit sexy I just started skipping it since chances are it would once again be interrupted.

I don’t mind pet names in moderation, but after the 20th “baby” by Logan I cringed every time he spoke to Nicole as I knew it was coming. The author used it over 50 times.

I will issue a trigger warning at this point. The bad dreams that Nicole was experiencing were due to her father sexually assaulting her when she was a child.

Also for those of you that have a problem with any of the leads having sex with someone other than them, Logan does so. One of the times is with Nicole’s father and Logan’s new wife and that has a huge rapery feel to it that it just made me shudder.

There are many parts of the story that I did enjoy and some of the camaraderie and humorous moments kept things moving at times. Enjoyed when Nicole stopped being immature and started getting control of her new found powers. Nicole and Logan get their HEA which then leads into other characters getting their story.

I was hoping for a bit more given the write up, it’s not awful just was missing some stronger elements to really make Nicole this kick butt character.

At the beginning I really liked Nicole. She's tough and kick ass. Eventually I get tired of her sometimes immature behaviour, and her feelings seem a bit "too much". Logan is Nicoles true mate, and although I understand that they have a strong bond I can't really grasp that they have a need to jump each others bones every time they meet. I also find Logans "you're mine, nobody else can have you"-attitude quite disturbing.

I do like the story, however. It feels well thought out and with plenty of action. My main problem with the book is that about half of it contains of sex. Very graphic and detailed sex. After a while I feel more like I'm in a porn movie than reading a paranormal romance book. If I had known that it focused so much on the sex I wouldn't have read it, since I don't enjoy when it becomes this graphic and almost takes over the story. If it had contained about 75% less sex scenes and their feelings and reactions had been less "over the top" this could have been a real gem. However, this is of course my personal preferences. If you enjoy erotica in your books I can assure you that you will not be disappointed!

Ok, so I don’t mind a bit of sex in a story to spice it up and move the plot along, but I prefer a book to be at least 80% story; this book felt like it was mostly sex, with bits of story thrown in. And not just sex, but S&M. So much. The worst part is, the story was actually very good. Clever plot line, interesting characters, and a hint of a fascinating world under it all; one which we never saw developed because it was ALL ABOUT THE SEX. If you like that sort of book, this is one for you. For me...not so much. I would be interested in reading another by this author if it’s a story on its own; there’s definitely potential for greatness, and all of the erotica is unnecessary. I wish to thank the Author, A. R. Vagnetti for my autographed copy of Forgotten Storm, received through her Goodreads giveaway.

I am giving the fifth star for originality. To quote my wife, who grabbed Forgotten Storm on arrival, "Dominance, submission, and vampires? It doesn't get any better than that!"
I agree. Authors attempting to blend the nuances of a BDSM relationship into the supernatural realm of the vampires usually disappoints me. Vagnetti did not. Her writing captures the unique dichotomy of pain and pleasure and the often misunderstood reasons why some seek pain at the hands of another.

I don't do spoilers, so you can experience the journey without preconceptions. I am impressed by the emotional depth of her characters and the intensity of their interactions. I'm also impressed with Ms. Vagnetti's inclusion of the dangers inherent in submitting to a stranger. BDSM, to many, is just a game to be played from time to time with fur lined handcuffs and silk scarves. It isn't a game to a sadistic dominant, and has cost some dearly.

Forgotten Storm is only the first leg of the journey for Nicole. You will be primed for book two before you're half way through.

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed bits of the story. However due to trigger warnings happen :sexual abuse I could not enjoy it all. Nicole is a very strong woman and osszs perfection. I don't read much paranormal romance so I was curious when I picked up Forgotten Storm. I was hooked from the beginning and invested until the last page. The chemistry between Logan and Nicki was hot and I loved what a strong, kick ass woman Nicki was. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming, which I always appreciate as a reader. AR Vagnetti did a phenomenal job creating a cast of characters that I'm invested in as a reader and a story line that will keep me coming back for me.

Forgotten Storm - the flow of this story is well-written, the angst of a young woman who is faced with things not all human. The past gets revealed and a path is then uncovered. A few turns leave uncertainty with many characters. Hints are given to future stories throughout the book. Great realistic view of what goes through our minds when handling situations and how thing’s don’t play out as intended when dealing with love, it’s messy but fighting for it if it’s real is the outcome. I loved all the action scenes, reminded me of Splinter Cell books. Love scenes are quite detailed and easy to visualize. I read this book for free for my honest review.

It has been a while since I read a paranormal romance, and I have to say, AR Vagnetti's Forgotten Storm was a great choice to jump back in with. The story is enticing and a roller coaster of "Will she? Won't she? Should she?" Throughout the story, I felt for Nicole, the tough, but broken, heroine who didn't ask for, and doesn't understand the fear that consumes her and haunts her dreams. Especially when her dreams were so sweet, once upon a time.

Enter Logan, the source, and actual living (well, living is a relative concept - this is a vampire tale, after all), breathing manifestation of the dreams that once brought Nicole so much comfort. I really like the way the author made it clear that that Nicole is no distressed damsel waiting around to be rescued. The conflict and lust between Nicole and Logan will keep you turning the pages. He knows they are fated to be together, we (the reader) know they are fated to be together, but Nicole is not as convinced as we are, and it makes for a nail-biting read.

The ending surprised me - I'm not going to include any spoilers, but it was so good, and so satisfying I closed the book with a happy sigh.

If you love paranormal romance, I predict you will love this book. Recommend!

I picked this up originally because the cover caught my attention. I am not normally a fan of romance novels, but the word paranormal got thrown around and I am a paranormal fan, plus the cover, so I decided to give it a try.

I have to say that I am still not a romance fan. But I AM now an A.R. Vagnetti fan. This story had sufficient paranormal intrigue to keep me reading, and I liked how layered it was overall. I have tried many times on recommendation from friends, usually find romance too predictable for my taste. The narrative here, while having many of the tropes familiar to romance, also delved into a world of vampires, werewolves, dark fey, valkyries, and others with a unique twist. It was a hero quest, a prophecy to fulfill, sword (and gun) fights. The characters were not two-dimensional, but complex and dealing with past trauma, abandonment and commitment issues, trust issues, and various coping mechanisms to try and deal with those issues. They felt real, even in the midst of magical mayhem mixed with raunchy romance. The one thing that bothered me was the very alpha-ness of the alpha males in the stories. They felt a little over the top to me, just enough to grate a little. But maybe that was also realistic, since I often find the alpha types to be grating in real life. What I did really like is that none of the females are written as weak, fluttery, shallow things to emphasize even more the male-est males to ever male in the history of male-ing (as it sometimes has felt when I've tried romances recommended to me.) Every female in this book is strong in her own way and not waiting for someone to come along and save her. Sometimes to an extreme and her own detriment. That balanced out my reaction to the what felt like some overbearing men. The men might push, but the women are definitely not pushovers. I intend to go on and read the next and see if it draws me in even more. I do really like the worldbuilding in this one, and I definitely want to explore more of it.

Forgotten Storm is in a genre that, as a general rule, I do not read. Had I paid more attention to the excerpt, perhaps I would have cued on the fact that this is a PNR with the usual players including vampires (who don’t sparkle thankfully), werewolves, fae, Valkyrie, and other supernatural creatures.

The writing is excellent and could be some of the better urban fantasy if the PNR parts were removed. Dialogue is easy to follow and the author does a good job showing not telling. I like how the author slowly revealed more of the MC throughout the book without a data dump.

The MC does have a tragic past that deals with child abuse, and sexual assault and abuse on a minor.

It took me a while to realize that when the author wrote someone “traced” that it wasn’t a typo and spell check failure.

Forgotten Storm is filled with too much angst with the MC dithering between a couple men in her life. Not really my cup of tea, as I prefer a lot less angst in my reading.

Sex is somewhat graphic, not safe, and despite a slight BDSM vibe, wholly vanilla with some light submission. There is only vampire hetero sex in the Forgotten Storm.

Forgotten Storm is not something that I would read again. I most likely would not read something else from this author, not because the author writes terribly, but because what she writes just isn’t what I really enjoy reading.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

A page turner that’s for sure!

3.5 stars

CONTAINS SPOILERS

This book kept me up late reading, there is constant drama unfolding so If you’re looking for something to keep you entertained then this is for you.

In a nutshell:
Blues singer / Krav Maga butt kicker, warrior princess Nicole, is living a life on the run but from who, even she doesn’t know. One day, the literal man from her dreams turns up, saving her life from a squad of hit men. Turns out he’s a vampire, as is her abusive father she’s been running from and as such, after her transition period, she will soon be one too and if the ancient prophecy is fulfilled; she’ll be reigning queen of all vampires, once she’s killed off her all powerful, demonic father and his army that is. A lot to take in for a young twenty something year old.

There’s a lot going on in this book and so the pace moves very fast which meant I was definitely kept interested and turning pages.

However, for my taste I would have liked for the story to have more depth, to learn more about this secret world of vampires, werewolves, faes shapeshifters and other beings. I felt this book could have been three. Like the story was a little rushed and we didn’t really have any background knowledge of any of the major characters, the other species or really even the whole story line.

Nicole just seemed to handle everything thrown at her very quickly and matter of factly. Like oh, ok cool, I’m a vampire queen. Good to know. Next?

Also there are some very dark topics covered within the story and I’m not sure I liked the way they were handled. They were almost glossed over and seemed to be there just to give Nicole her dark past and warrior girl identity.

And then there’s the sex. I understand that they are vampires and have primal instincts but Nicole and her dream man Logan’s relationship seems to be a lot more about the sex than anything else. That’s literally their whole entire monologue when together, or thinking of one another. I wish the two had spent more time together so we could see their relationship strengthen.

If you are looking for a good bit of erotica though then this will not disappoint as those scenes are extremely hot!

All in all I did enjoy this book. If you’re looking for a paranormal romance with a strong female lead and a good helping of erotica then it’s a great weekend read that you won’t want to put down.

This novel was written and edited cleanly, with no typos that I found in the ARC version of the manuscript. The writing was a little more flowery than I am used to, but I am sure other readers would enjoy that stylistic choice. The world building was great, with the paranormal races and kingdoms coming to vivid life. The characterization was also really good for the heroine especially. Unfortunately, the development of the romantic relationship between these protagonists was not awesome. The hero and heroine did not spend any time on page together until about 40% of the way into this novel, and the hero was away from the heroine's vicinity for large chunks of the novel after that. *Spoiler Ahead* The hero also has sex with another woman while he and the heroine are in a relationship, so mileage may vary. *End Spoiler* That was a contributing factor, I think, why large portions of this novel felt slow and I was kind of slogging through them. I feel like this novel's plot could have been shorter by at least a hundred pages and the pacing would have been much better. I am not sure if that is an accurate impression, but that is what it felt like to me. There was a fairly high level of angst in this novel, which may be one reason I did not enjoy it as much as I usually enjoy paranormal romances with a lot of adventure elements. There were very high stakes in this novel, which I typically enjoy. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Chosen One trope common to fantasy novels. It also used the Partner in Trouble trope. The characterization was three stars. The development of the romantic relationship was two stars, because the hero and heroine spent so much of the novel apart. The plot and world building was four stars. The pacing was three stars. The combined score of this paranormal romance was therefore three stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this novel. I recommend this novel to readers who are reading this as more urban fantasy instead of paranormal romance. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, and I am not interested in reading any other books in this series.

This is a revised and expanded version of the 2018 book - there is a prequel, Forsaken Storm, which whilst strictly speaking it's not necessary to read before reading Forgotten Storm, I would advise you do as it gives some valuable background info as to what is going on, I found it really helpful to read it first.

This was a brilliant vampire read for me, a slow build as you get to know the characters and the world but still engaging, the drama and story building, until it was all out full on action - honestly I really loved it!!

Nikki is a girl who has suffered more than most, you don't truly find out just how much until very late in the book. She is on the run from her step-father, her mother doesn't give a hoot about her, the only thing that keeps her safe and sane is the incredibly hot sexy green eyed man call Logan, who she dreams of and who talks to her, saying he is her Guardian. Her memory is sketchy before she was 17, just knowing she was always on the move, Logan telling her it was again time to move on to somewhere new. Her feelings towards Logan have grown to almost boiling point, her fantasies about him, until she finds out just how real he really is.

Logan has done everything he can to protect Nikki since he learned of the prophecy that revolves around her and what she meant to him. But at the time she is a young girl just growing up, and he must protect her at all cost from everything including himself. Until the time comes when she learns what and who she really is.

A brilliant read with some hard hitting and triggering subjects. Nikki is a bad ass that has had to learn how to look after herself along the way, the older she gets the more she enjoys letting off steam with her martial arts, having to find an outlet for her lust for Logan, she finds BDSM and pain is what she needs. I loved her character, her wit and sarcasm, and her love of naming inanimate objects! Logan is just utterly swoon worthy, an alpha protector through and through, fighting his inner beast who wants nothing more than to claim its mate, but he has to keep her safe. The fights scenes were brilliant, full of action, and the hot steamy scenes between Nikki and Logan were even hotter!

Definitely worth the read, can't wait to read more from this series.

TL/DR: Overall, I ended up enjoying the book even though it had some problems. My overall rating for it is 3.5 stars (I’ll round it to 4 on here). I still think it was an enjoyable read with some really good characters, and it’s fairly short too (I read this in two days).

CHARACTERS:

I loved the main character, Nicole. She was the epitome of a badass female heroine. I loved her personality so much. Quirky and funny, but could also be your end if need be. Now, Logan, the male main character, is a bit of a different story. I thought his character was likeable enough, but there were sometimes where I really disliked him. Especially the time when he was pressuring her to do things and threatening to leave. Now on to the side characters. I think a lot of them were unnecessary and very one dimensional. Although, I do know that this is a series, so this issue might be fixed in the other books. The last character I want to talk about is the priest. I think the author was going for a mysterious air with that character, but I wasn’t really feeling it. The mysteriousness felt a bit forced to me, and his personality was also quite inconsistent.

PLOT:

I thought the plot was pretty good. The pacing was good. I really liked the whole idea of the prophecy and the way the chosen one trope was portrayed in this book. The world building was also very good, but there were some parts about the system that were very confusing to me. Like how Logan was drinking from other people and Nicole couldn’t do that. That may be me missing things though.
Another problem I found with the plot was how so many of the characters found their true mates within the specific group. It also seemed really weird that most of the side characters hadn’t met before the main event ensued. I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you read the book, you would probably think the reason for them not meeting is weird too. The last thing I didn’t really like was what Logan’s destiny was revealed to be. It wasn’t a very good way to resolve the plot and what it was called didn't really resonate with me.

I can say 100% I loved and enjoyed this book! This was completely worth the reread.
*I read this book before it was revised. I wrote a review then as well, and only gave it 4 stars.*
Get ready for not wanting the put the book down. There isn't a good spot, because there is constantly stuff/ action happening, and the steamy build up between the two MC (main characters) will get intense.

The author was able to go back to this book and put in stuff she wanted and it made all the difference. The mental talk from your MFC (main female character) sets you up to see where she is coming from. It is given to you in kind of her mind wandering about the past as she is going through her evening.
Further those details she was able to add to this gave the book a smooth road to travel of setting up not just characters that are with in this world, but the world itself and the arc of this story in the series.

You will want to crave to read the other books and get to know all the other characters. This is a fated mates book/ series, so it lets you focus in on one couple in a book. Each couple has enough spice in their stories to fill any itch of a RH (reverse harem) reader.

**this is what I wrote in my review for the book before it was revised, and felt it was still worth noting.**
I was leary at first because I am picky on vampire books.. i fell in love with Anne Rice's vampires at an early age. I mentally gave the author Kudos when there is mention of Louisiana with the vampires, but it was quick and you moved in to the story line. Giving it a hey hats off to Anne Rice in this moment for making great vampires, and now I am off on my own story. Because after that just quick snipet there was no trying to make it about Louisiana or New Orleans.. These vampires are their own unique breed.

This author is worth reading... pick up the book and give it a shot. Just be sure to make sure the tigger warnings won't effect you. because the spicy moments can get hot!

I love Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy and this book covers both. This book was well written and edited. The writer was good with description and world building. She does a great job of story telling and does not take the easy way out by information dumping and just telling you all the facts in an internal monologue. I hate that. The characters are likable and the heroine is a badass who transitions and overcomes her trauma. There are sexy times with a BDSM nature but it is by no means overly hardcore. I think fans of Laurell K. Hamilton will especially like this series. Maybe Ward's fans too although it is not nearly as complex as the BDB. There is a lot of angsty drama caused by stubbornness and miscommunication between our heroine and her alpha male vampire. Lots of people like that but it is a turn off for me. I am also not a fan of sorta love triangles or other man/other woman scenarios. Once again lots of people like them. It just isn't my cup of tea. This book will definitely be a favorite of many readers. I did not rate it higher because my own quirks limited my enjoyment. Angst makes me nervous even with HEA which this did provide. It was still a solid 3.4ish read. Great news, there are plenty of side characters who could be fleshed out in their own book. I would like to learn more about Valkyries.

Trigger Warnings: There are mentions of child sexual abuse/rape not too descriptive but if that kind of thing bothers you be on notice.
