While my reviewing collapse started earlier, it was well advanced by the time I finished this book. In fact, it is only now that I discover that I have submitted this review on Amazon, but not here.
It's a GREAT book; it's a pathetic review.

This is a pathetic shade of a review of an excellent book; I hope to come back and fill out the bones later.
The series Montgomery has started is called "Martha's Sons." This Martha is a person of literature, living on a planet that was Not What We Were Looking For, and thus designated as NWWWLF. She has multiple sons and daughters, and two of them in particular are the main characters of this compelling book, addressing themes of family loyalty and conflict, the difficulty of living on a planet which requires extensive terraforming, the tendency of oligarchies to resort to ever-more repressive measures to keep in power, all giving us a lovely, lovely back-story to her "Waking Late" series.

Tiny addition to the utterly pathetic paragraph above: Simon is the older brother, Peter the younger, and Simon is a not-nice older brother. The central government has impounded the weapons of the farmers outside the city, and the brothers decide to go steal them back.
Two young men, with sibling rivalry issues, against an army. Yeah. What could go wrong?

You may wish to read Rudyard Kipling's "Sons of Martha" understand the meaning of the title, and the burden the family operates under.

♥️🌌🪐 A great discovery.

The genetically modified Peter Dawe observed the surroundings with discretion and attention.

His excellent night vision allowed him to see all the details and in particular to guess the governor’s men who were looking for him.

Very focused, Peter watched. He was waiting for the right moment to escape...

-----------

An exciting but complicated read, which offers a detailed, original and dangerous dystopia/science-fiction universe.

A great discovery that made me want to read the sequel of this novel, as well as other books from the previous series to find out how it all started.

The cover of the novel is georgeous !
A dystopia/science-fiction book to discover absolutely for lovers of the genre.

A Unique and Original Scifi Tale.

In Simple Service, Peter Dawe, a distant descendant of colonizers from Earth, embarks on a desperate mission to retrieve a set of weapons stolen from his family and their neighbours. The mission is complicated by the presence of Peter's longtime nemesis, his older brother Simon, whom his father forced him to bring along.

The book features excellent writing, original world building, complex, 3D characters, and an absorbing story line. It held my interest to the end, and I would definitely read more from this author.

This was a really good read.
The characters were well developed, the world building is great and the lore is relatively unique. There is plenty of action, secrets, and the storyline moves along at a consistent pace which leaves you happily flipping pages until the end. Will definitely be looking for the rest of this series.

A lost colony, alien world, deceit and treachery… what more could go wrong? Excellent world building and formidable and conflicted characters. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Not that bad

A cliffhanger! I really don't care for cliffhangers. The story isn't bas, but it is slow. I did buy the rest, so I will read them. I just hope the rest are better.

Interesting

But somewhat sad. Didn't like the ending, definitely have to read on! A true scifi adventure! Liked the characters and the world they live in.
