The first ring I ever wore was the one he slipped over my finger. My hand shook the whole time. It would be romantic... if it wasn't a big lie. You see, even if I think Xander is the sexiest man alive—so handsome that I didn't hesitate to jump into bed with him before I knew his full name—he only wants one thing from me: a pretend engagement. If I act like I'm his fiancé, he'll get what he wants from his strict family. What's in it for me? Enough money to clear out every cent of my debt. I should be happy this opportunity walked its way into my world on a pair of Italian leather shoes, but instead, I'm sweating bullets. Xander made it painfully clear that he wanted a no strings deal. What will he do when he realizes there's a huge knot tying us together forever? Because I'm pregnant with his baby.
4 stars. New favorite by Penny Wylder. Sweet, tender and fun story with more than likeable characters, maybe a little less smutty than usual but I really enjoyed this quick read. Personally speaking, I think that Penny Wylder is at her best when she focuses more on the storyline and less on the smut. This novella had just the right balance of both and it was a big HIT with me, plus I also tend to like the "fake romance" trope quite a lot in my choice of romances to read.

I must say I was a tid bit scared to start it, but it was surprisingly very good! I found their one night a bit magical and also a bit bold. But that's because I'm very shy and would never ever suggest such things. I found Xander his whole family very like-able from the start they were so very nice and welcoming!
The end is very special because I'm pregnant too, not everyone in our circle knows yet.
Free on amazon! I guess it was ok for a novella. The characters are rather plain and the whole story was very predictable, but I won't deny it kept me entertained.
Cute story where a one night stand leads Xander to ask Melanie to be his fake fiance to get something from his dad. She ends up realizing that she is pregnant.
3.5 Life has been crazy. I've been really busy but I managed to read this short story and I really liked it. A cute insta love, kind of what I needed at the time.
Pure romance. This story is a dream come true filled with sensual passion, country to city contrasts, surprise pregnancy, and an absolutely adorable ending.
The main characters meet over a hectic bar night in a small town, the humble country girl and the rich city man. It is sizzling hot and magical. Though it ends as all one-night-stands do. Or not. He comes back with a preposterous plan to present his fake fiancée to his father and get what is rightfully his.
This trope of fake girlfriend mixes with other themes wonderfully. The exhilarating flight to New York City where Xander and Melanie behave scandalously, the luxurious lifestyle in the city, the heartbreaking relationship that should be all about pretending but is pure fire and feelings. And then, the surprising turn of events as she ends up pregnant, in love, and guilty for lying to his family.
I loved the sweet and passionate exchanges between them, the unexpected reason for Xander to come up with this plan, and how he finally takes back his woman from the ashes of that plan burning down.
Especially, I adored the two final chapters where they become one and then three in such heartwarming scenes. Lovely romance.
Faking it for Mr. Right is a quick read where you know exactly what you’re going to get as soon as you start reading. And you know what, that is okay. This book is basically a steamy Hallmark movie, which let’s face it is pretty amazing. Was I particularly invested in either character? No, but that’s okay too.
Not that the characters were bad, Xander and Melanie were both enjoyable. This book was really too short for me to get too invested. It was a great feel-good read with the fake relationship trope, that left me with a smile on my face. And, as I mentioned above this one does get pretty steamy, especially for how short the book is.
If you are looking for a quick fun romance then I suggest you check this one out.
Another absolute smash of a book from Penny! This is the story of Melanie and Max and wow... what’s a book. Hot... hot... hot! Just loved it. Great book with brilliant characters! Highly recommended
Meh, I didnt care for it. It was predictable, yes, but I didnt mind that. I guess for me the characters were the problem, I didnt especially like either of them. Melanie ended up being kinda stupid, and Xander's perspective wasnt given very much until the end, so I didn't care for him. This one starts off "Pretty Woman"-esque and there were definite cringey moments, like saying the airplane bathroom is clean , or his explaining how he knew which ring to get her . And I feel like Melanie discovered the pregnancy way too fast, like how long were they together 2 weeks tops? Once the whole fake engagement is resolved the story is very HEA, and I just felt meh. Like I skimmed through it because I just didnt care.
It was okay, but I have a few comments. 1. They were both so dramatic, especially Melanie. 2. I'm pretty sure she got knocked up because they refused to use condoms and I don't remember mentions of her birth control. 3. Marrying your best friend's personal driver will not end well. Especially when Xander and his family like to flash their money and Melanie got used to it extremely quickly herself. 4. It was very obvious whatever Xavier wanted from his father was connected to his childhood. 5. It kind of loops back to no 1, but Melanie was so dramatic after meeting his father. She had a whole ass breakdown because he told her hopefully they'll be over soon, right after she said she hopes it'll end soon.
I'm always down for a good book where the hero swoops in to save the heroine, and within minutes I was hooked. Heroine down on her luck and the hero sees something in her. There are some great *ahem* scenes... cue the dressing room. I've always loved Penny for giving us books that we read straight through and never put down. I also appreciate her never giving me a cliff hanger or a wait for part two (those are my biggest pet peeves). If you're looking for a fun book, give this one a try!

I have been on a binge, reading every Penny Wylder book I can get my hands on…..although I am a huge fan and there’s not one book by her that I don’t love…..this is my favorite so far out of like 15 that I’ve read! I FELT this one! Just trust me, this is a MUST read. Although I was able to read for free with KU, I ended up purchasing for my library. I will be reading this again! (It is written in dual POVs.)
Penny is awesome and knows how write. It’s both parts sexy and so sweet that it gives you a toothache. Xzander and Melanie were absolutely adorable together plus the sexy times were perfection. I loved all of the characters but I would like for Devan and Andrews love story to me told. Until next time y’all happy reading.
Xander and Melanie, both from different worlds but the heart ❤️ knows what it wants.
Xander is the type of guy that goes after what he wants and Melanie is no exception.
After one night he knows she is the perfect person to help him really get what he wants. After spending time with her, he realizes that she is the one.
One of my favourite deal gone wrong stories. The way the author writes about their romance is amazing. The unexpected reason to Xander striking the deal and the surprise pregnancy. Beautiful story, give it read. You'll love it!!
If you're looking for a good short read, this is your book. Xander and Melanie make quite the pair. Storyline and extra character are good too. I recommend reading this book.
It was cute and predictable. I needed it after the books I've read and for the dark book I'm about to go into. Not major drama and it was nice and quick. To the point. No ow/om issues. It was a nice book.
Very slow start when we first meet our characters. Their time together really picked up after the deal was made but before that its like "come on people where are the sparks?!" But okay read after that and certainly some hot sexy scenes after that.
Tried it because it was free in Amazon but ended reading the whole thing. Nothing special with the plot and story line but still fun to read and it was also a novella so I read it in one sitting.
Faking isn't necessary with the right person. Sometimes finding them is as easy as looking up from a book. While these two are from different worlds, they clearly speak the same language. 😘
Faking It For Mr. Right is a sweet smiling inducing read with some delicious chemistry. It may require a cold drink near by to help cool you off. Just don't fake it too hard..
What a sweet, sexy, deliciously steamy story of Xander and Melanie. I loved Melanie, she’s strong, kind, sweet and loving. She’s juggling life as it comes, working paycheck to paycheck with her roommate Devan both waitressing to keep their heads afloat. When she meets Xander, sexy, hot and everything she could hope for, he’s her knight in shining armor and the attraction is instant for both of them. Xander is on a mission for work and is just visiting her small town, but he can’t seem to walk out of the bar without asking her out. A one night stand between them, no strings, but the only thing is neither one can forget the night they spent together. Thoughts of each other rolling through their heads, it’s ridiculous, right? How can you feel so pulled to another human being that quick? Xander’s father has something that he wants, but there are rules and he needs to follow them to get what’s been hanging over his head for years and when he travels back to Melanie with a proposition she may not be able to resist. No strings, no feelings, well that’s better said than done, she’s falling hard and he’s hiding his feelings from her and when it all comes to light and he might lose her can Xander believe that she feels more for him than a fake relationship? Will he realize what he has right in front of him before it’s too late? I guess you will need to read for yourself. What a great read, loved it! I received an advance copy of this book.
An epic one night stand turned fake romance turned real romance!
Xander and Mel meet by chance. Xander swoops in to save Mel from a jerk in a bad suit and Mel is struck speechless by the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen.
Enter epic one night stand. After what both of them realizes is an unforgettable night Xander shows up at Mel’s house a week later with a preposition that involves Mel being his fake fiancé.
Enter fake romance. Mel doesn’t like lying to Xander’s family but she realizes it’s a chance of a lifetime to experience Xander’s world. She goes along with the plan even though she doesn’t know what Xander’s ultimate goal is. We see them both falling hard and fast but with some misunderstandings and no communication they both end up thinking the other just wants the agreement to be done so they can resume their normal lives.
Enter real romance. After a minor blow up and Mel decides to head back home they both realize that this fake relationship was never really fake at all. The sweetness of Xander’s ultimate goal made me “awwwww” when I found out why he needed the fake relationship to begin with.
We had our regular PW hot and heavy moments so we are not lacking in the steam department at all along the way.
Really great book with lovable characters that you’re cheering for the entire time.
