About the author

Also known as 矢吹 健太朗.
He is a Japanese manga artist. His mentor was Takeshi Obata, the illustrator of Death Note, Hikaru no Go and Bakuman.
Yabuki is best known for his series Black Cat which ran from 2000 to 2004 in Weekly Shōnen Jump and later adapted into an anime. Since 2004, he has only been working as illustrator to works written by other authors. Most notably on the series To Love-Ru alongside his former assistant Saki Hasemi.

Different ending from the anime. Although I am not a fan of how they ended the anime, I must say it is better than the manga one. The manga follows a different path than the anime and although it gives some more inside details, I still feel that they are skipping many deeper things. But still, it is interesting to read as a complement of the nime.

What can I say but wow! That was such a fun read and I really didn’t want it to stop. Loved the art style and design of everything (huge fan of Kentaro Yabuki).

Highly recommend for the anime version fans too because the afterwords stated that the manga and anime are different enough to enjoy both.

I started reading Darling In The Franxx after watching the anime.
The story wasn't different in the beginning but later after volume 4 or 5 i guess it started having variation and I have to say the ending was completely different.
And I can't say whether it was better or worse but I liked it.

Different from the anime, however once again the high point of chapter 55 leads to an incredibly rushed conclusion. I preferred the anime ending even if it should have been a second season

W ósmej części mangowego cyklu na czytelników czeka nie tylko wielka finałowa walka z księżniczką Kyoryo, od której zależy przyszłość ludzkości. Znaleźć można tutaj również pokaźną dawkę treści, która nie pojawiła się w anime. Jak bowiem doskonale wiadomo, komiks powstał na kanwie popularnego serialu. W kilku miejscach komiksowa wersja odróżniała się od anime, dając tym samym fanom serii możliwość odmiennego spojrzenia na historię. Ostatni tom serii idzie w tym o krok dalej, serwując odbiorcy całkiem inne zakończenie. Lepsze czy gorsze niż w anime? O tym musi przekonać się każdy samemu.
Jedno jest pewne każdy, kto zdecyduje się sięgnąć po ósmą część serii, znajdzie tutaj elementy, które powinny wprawić go w dobry nastrój. Na pierwszy plan mangi zdecydowanie wysuwa się mocna akcja. Do widowiskowości tytułu nie można mieć najmniejszych zastrzeżeń. Nakreślone przez twórców walki są dynamiczne, przyciągają uwagę czytelnika i potrafią chwilami podnieść adrenalinę (zarówno u bohaterów, jak i czytelnika). Widowiskowość niesie ze sobą pewną dozę przemyślanego dramatyzmu i wyrazistych emocji, które wpływają na bohaterów. W kilku momentach scenariusz potrafi również mile zaskoczyć. Bynajmniej nie mam tu na myśli nagłego i „zaskakującego” pozbywania się ubrań. Tego typu elementów prawie w ogóle tutaj nie ma (co należy zaliczyć na plus).

Nie wszystko jest jednak idealne i do pewnych elementów scenariusza można mieć kilka zastrzeżeń. Na pewno brakuje tu mocniejszego zgłębienia niektórych poruszonych wątków. Twórca z jednej strony zabiera się za „trudniejsze” tematy, robi to jednak za bardzo płytko. Przekłada się to na ich rozwinięcie, a raczej pozostawienie niektórych pytań bez pełnej i satysfakcjonującej odpowiedzi.

Conclusion un peu rapide, le tome est dense en explications, mais ça manque de profondeur pour tout comprendre. J'ai bien aimé la fin choisie, même si elle est assez basique.

Review série complète :
Le manga est adapté d'un anime et ça se sent. Malgré un concept intéressant à la base, avec un univers dystopique et des robots géants, l'ensemble reste assez fade et mal développé. Les interactions entre les ados sont sympathiques, ils se questionnent progressivement sur leur rôle et leurs sentiments. Je les ai trouvés suffisamment distincts et attachants. Par contre, l'ensemble est très sexualisé. Certes, les dessins sont beaux, mais avoir des nus de filles gratuits dans tous les tomes était assez fatigant, d'autant que l'ensemble est sexualisé, même la gestion du mode de combat des robots. Ça reste des adolescents, donc c'est dérangeant en lecture adulte. La série se lit très vite et la fin était sympathique.

I really liked it. I didn’t know this manga came from an anime. I discovered that at the end of the manga where they explained how it is different from the anime and how in the anime we have a bigger battle with the machines and we don’t see the characters for some time so I’m pretty sure the manga version reflects more my tastes.
